Good set up, nice staff, great pool table and bar in house!
Great little hostel - had everything I needed
Room was clean, dark and quiet enough. Common area was comfy but pool table needs some love and shortage of cooking paraphernalia. Downstairs washroom was sticky
It was good
The stay at Raging Elk was alright, but the pictures looked better than the reality. In the end it's a hostel with bunk beds, sauna is not working, so that was a little scam, but the people there are nice.
Great location with transportation close
Good hotel
Clean and friendly
Great place to stay
Need better access to electric plugs.
You get what you pay for…thats a positive comment. We enjoy staying here for the convenience and price. Just remember for those summer months there is no A/C in rooms.
A LOT FOR A LITTLE
Was better than we expected--clean, comfortable enough, quiet and the price was great for FERNIE!
Great staff, very friendly and welcoming. The property is clean and well located. The areas for improvement are twofold: 1- noise. The karaoke bar could be loudly heard from the room and it remained open slightly past midnight. 2-Room ventilation. The rooms were poorly ventilated
Just an absolute gem , loved it and very reasonable priced
Nice place however no air conditioning in the rooms. fans were provided to help keep the space cool. Parking was very limited.
Great experience
Perfect stay at the property. Close to everything you want to see and do. Super safe and friendly staff. On site pub is a bonus
Overall nice!
Loved it! Great place
You have your hostel advertised as a hotel. $150/night for a hostel is an absolute joke and total rip off. No parking on site (except across the road on a busy road). The room was INCREDIBLY hot and the only way to get fresh air is to open windows with open access to anyone to crawl into your room (not ideal as a female travelling alone).
Its ok
Safe fun hostel for a family stopover . Used the games room
First time experiencing a hostel and I would come back . A positive vibe and atmosphere.
There’s no proper parking for people who’s staying at the lodge whoever can find one is a luck. Well pretty over all disappointed and the first and the last that’s for sure. The worst thing is that there’s no air conditioning in the room. The ads never declared that they would be no air conditioned. That’s a big scam as far as I’m concerned. Would not recommend or referral this place. That how I disappointed..
No AC
This place works great for a quick one night stay! Please be aware that the rooms are extremely hot in the summer with no air conditioning, and your windows open in a public indoors walkway with no screens.
Great staff, extremely clean.
It’s too hot
Have stayed multiple times here, pods and private rooms, exceptional cleanliness and friendly staff.
I asked for a room with two beds. Got 2 beds but 1 was a bunk bed. As a 75 year old it was very difficult to get into.
We stayed in the family suite and it was perfect for a family of 6 . Very convenient location
nice people lots of cycling options near by
Our room was not cleaned from the last visitor and it was obvious. Beds were not made, garbages weren't taken out, used soap bar in the shower, stained sheets with what looked like a blood stain. There were other minor things but its not a big deal because each hotel is unique but if I cannot get a clean room upon arrival that is unacceptable. I hope nobody else has to arrive to a room like this
Good Time
Was Great ,Nice expérience and service . Like the sauna ,the bar….
cool little spot along the way
good vibes
It's a good place to hang your hat for the night. But. I recommend avoiding during open mic night which seemed to be Monday. Very loud and talent = ok, but just ok. But that was through the walls of my room.
It’s as advertised good place to stay in a pinch
Place was nice and clean , very accessible , but stairs not good going up to your room,
Great for a quick stop!
Nice restaurants within walking distance. Room we had would have been nice for a family. Had four bunk beds.
No one was there to check me in even though i had a reservation so i ended up sleeping in the car. The online reservation served no pourpose. Every time i called the desk nobody answered. Even during buisness hours
Friendly staff. Clean. Well organized. Priced right
sure i will be back again
Very quiet. Friendly staff. A very good set up, especially for single guests.
Owners were top notch, engaging and knowledgeable. The property lacked AC in the room but otherwise the stay was enjoyable and would def it stay there again.
This is a charming quiet retreat with friendly staff and very clean housing. We had a great stay and would book again when we are in the area.
The door at the grizzly room slams every time someone enters.. and makes noise, hard to sleep.. maybe if they put some oil in the door and make it slowly to close, it would be less noise at night. But it is pretty clean and safe. Thanks. Lilia
No air conditioning.
My stay for 2 days was very enjoyable. My only concern was that they double booked my pod. I had to switch rooms which was inconvenient. Also the bar on premises advertises its open until midnight. To my surprise after coming back from dinner around 1030, i was surprised to find the bartender closing for the night an hour and half early. For patrons staying at the lodge i found it disapponting that they chose to close so early. I would definitely go back regardless
I’m 6’2” tall and when I walked in a saw the jr. Bunk bed I knew that this wasn’t going to work. Disappointing is an understatement I was waiting for Ashton Kutcher to jump out at anytime to inform me that I was being pranked . The accommodations resemble a hostile at $170 is not justifiable. This was so disappointing that we didn’t even stay. Lesson learned , I should’ve read the reviews. That’s why they say education is expensive. On a positive note , the staff were absolutely wonderful.
Good place to stop
They provided a good place to sleep. The TV and the technician available with a simple phone call did not work as told. Spent almost an hour with two different technicians and no one knew how to get the TV going in the new system they had set up w online only. finally gave up. would be nice to have had been provided face towel or hand towel to go with one towel and maybe creamer pack with coffee. And maybe screens on the windows to keep insects out. The location was beautiful and staff were friendly when they were available. Disappointed in no music on Wednesday night this year. Had a wonderful experience with music last year🙂
As a senior couple we had lots of stairs to manage with our luggage. The room was small and the bed was not so comfortable. We had a hard time finding the hostel in the first place. Address said 5th Strret but it was at 9th Street. A nice gentleman on his bike helped us to find it.
Noisy. Water in shower at least was hot. Might be ok for a young person who sleeps through anything.
Raging Elk was clean and organized. Staff was great, communicated well, and were helpful. I stayed in a cubby which was nice. Clean linens, blanket, pillows, and bath towel were provided. Fellow guests were quiet and respectful of sleeping areas. Cooking and lounge areas are downstairs. Places to store backpack, skis and boots are available. There is a public bar connected.
Fun spot, good value
Great spot, clean and overall good value for money. Great for meeting people as it has a large gaming room with a shared kitchen, pool table, etc. Rooms are on the smaller size but the setup with the bunk bed works great. The place can be somewhat noisy until 11pm.
Raging Elk
For the price, a good stay for a family
Slightly above average
Slightly more private than most hostels, which is a huge bonus. Very clean for hostel standards. It did the trick for my one night stay-over. I recommend.
Staff are rude and place is disgusting.
This place on hotels.com does not say it is a hostel. While they advertise there is live music they do not say they play it outside until 11pm. When I asked the management if they could look at reducing noise as I’d been up wary and needed to et up early the next day they said well what did you expect it’s a long weekend. Room was unclean and the sockets were falling apart. There was only 1 towel provided in a room of 4 beds. It is not advertised here as a hostel so I was expecting some more basic amenities. My room which I paid the same price for as other 4 bed rooms did not have an overhead fan or a fridge which other rooms did. Thankfully they gave me a fan but it is frustrating that I got given the 19A room which was clearly something they squeezed in and was not as good as the other rooms. Very disappointing. I am disgusted I paid $160 for this. I went onto the patio for a bit and one of the staff members was sitting by himself in a 5 person table with his bare feet just on the seat which is pretty disgusting to have staff members bare feet on chairs people sit on.
First time at a hostel
It was a good experience and my son and I had a good experience staying at our first hostel. The games room provided a lot of fun competitions.
The deck and pub are great for meeting people. Clean spaces. Well-maintained.
Not bad but Hot without AC
Arrived late, however no issues checking in. The room did not have AC and it was 30C so it was hard to sleep with the heat. The room was booked for 4 guests however the room only had 2 towels. When we went down in the morning to get 2 addition towels so everyone could shower the person on the front desk didn't seem happy we were asking for more towels. Overall it was good location, street parking was no issue, and the bar dow stairs had a great atmosphere.
An excellent alt to a hotel
Clean & comfortable. I liked especially the sleeping pods, which were much more private than a bunk bed. Property was well laid out, reasonably quiet although I would still recommend wearing earplugs as some quests are early risers. Has a large fully equipped kitchen/common area in basement with comfy chairs. Staff were helpful & pleasant to deal with. Has a pub w/ pool table on main floor with snack type menu. Good internet. Property is located downtown, a block of the main highway, close to all services, no road noise. Overall a very good stay
Great stay
Awesome spot for inexpensive stay.
Ideal location close to town and amenities. Just wish the weather was better. As for the room it was clean and well prepared for my stay.
Quiet and clean in the new pods
Is the cheapest option for a night in that area.
Good value for an overnight stay.
We expected the accommodation to be spartan, but not quite so austere. A chair and table would have been welcome. If people want a quiet room, we recommending asking for the side not overlooking the patio.
Clean and Simple
Great option for those looking for a clean, simple stay. Great location close to downtown Fernie.
Won’t go back.
Not impressed, not that clean. Bathroom awful.
Great staff and clean rooms.
A little noisy because theres a bar under the rooms but that goes for most hostels. The bar closes at a reasonable hour so no complaints there. Its right in the middle of town so everything is accessible by foot. great place to meet new people down at the kodiak bar. met a couple awesome auzzys :)
The kitchen needs a deep clean. Smells of old grease.
Solo or groups it’s the perfect place to stop
Great staff, very clean. Awesome place to stay!
We liked that you could meet people from around the world after a great day of skiing.
