Amazing location and superb bedrooms and public rooms.
This castle Parador is very special. Beautiful location, amazing views, comfortable rooms, and lovely common spaces. It was a perfect respite after several days of exploring Sevilla ans Granada. Highly recommend.
Amazing food, views and service
What an amazing building! First came here in 1984 and it’s just as awesome. Very nice dinner as well.
We had a lovely 2 night stay at this hotel. The staff were very helpful and the food and accommodation were very good.
Excellent historic property with modern facilities, attentive staff and very good restaurants on a majestic location !!
The views are stunning! The hotel is unique, warm, beautiful, and comfortable. We sat on the balcony for hours. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner. We are vegetarian and they were kind enough to make our Paella without the meat. Everyone we encountered who works there was kind and helpful. One day in paradise!
Beautiful rooms and property. Very nice restaurant
Not worth a visit. No atmosphere. Service very hit and mix. Food average. Bar service appalling. The worst experience taking drinks to pool. Pool attendant great! Poor english was am issue but maybe I should speak better Spanish.
Unique parador in gorgeous settings with awesome vistas of the Sierra Nevada. Great pool area to relax and swim. Perfect dining on the open terrace.
Marvellous hotel with splendid views over the country and preserving the feel of a historic castle
We had an electric vehicle and charging was so easy at the Parador (unlike many other areas in Andalucia where we had travelled). We were very grateful and impressed with the service of the reception staff.
Fantastic Parador.
top of the town
perfect location if you need relax, place is just amazaing
We had a lovely time at the Parador and will stay again in the future
King for the night!
How can staying in a palace be bad?! Stayed here 24 years ago and its still a great place to stay! Loved the balcony and our room. Hotel staff work hard to reserve hotel parking for guests, so that's great. Beautiful view of Jaen from hotel. And there is an ancient castle to tour on location for only 1.5€ each!
It’s a castle! What’s not to like! Great room, beautiful view, beautiful lounge, super helpful and friendly staff. Recommend it highly.
Beautiful building, stunning views
Rooms decent size with balcony overlooking mountains. Bathroom spacious with bath & nice hot shower. Rooms had aircon/heating but unable to adjust, not a big problem as temperature was OK. Bar & restaurant stunning, although bar area was cold in the evening. Food was good, as was service. Portions good size.
Beautiful hotel and vista; difficult finding how to get there
Wonderful experience
Excellent quality all round
Superb hotel
We had high expectations of the hotel and were certainly not disappointed. All staff were very friendly and attentive. We ate both breakfast, snacks and dined in their restaurant and all food was really good and not expensive. It’s a good walk down into Jaen but all uphill getting back. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Amazing views from my room and the property. We opted for the half-board and had great meals.
Beautifully decotated buildings in the castle complex, and rooms with easy parking. The only thing I would have liked is a coffee and tea maker in my room.
Great paradore
Beautiful views and location, breakfast seemed over priced. Easy walk to tour the castle. Felt like ancient building, magnificent bar room and dining room.
Beautiful hotel. Very clean and comfortable.
What a beautiful place. Don’t skip on this one. Great room. Great service and food. My only complaint is the pillows.
The views were breathtaking. The whole place was amazing. Tasty food and great pool on top of the hill! Great place.
Fabulous historic building. Long walk to city and restaurants but hotel restaurant is excellent and taxis easy to arrange.
Quite far from Jaén city center, but in a spectacular location overlooking the city and surrounding mountains. Excellent restaurant and very nice room. Wish we'd had time to try the pool, we'll stay longer next time!
Terrific stay! We stayed in a Castle! Service was impeccable. Rooms decorated with a medieval flare. Each area of the hotel attention to detail was complementary to its history. Sots high above Jaen. The Castle portion of the site is open to visitors and was convenient to staying in the hotel. We will be back!
Stunning place. Really a destination in itself and worthy of a full day eating well, snoozing and swimming while taking in the stunning views. Not sure Jaen offers all that much. We couldn’t drag ourselves away to check!
Views Distance from Jaen
Great views and room
Amazing views
Quaint room with a beautiful view. Very comfortable bed and pillow! Breakfast buffet was wonderful
Stunning
After flying into Madrid from JFK and driving 3 1/2 hours to Jaen on our way to Malaga, the hotel was just what the doctor ordered. As is our custom when we fly to Europe, we fight our sleepiness and stay awake during the day in order to avoid jet lag. The key is to sleep well the first night, and we did. We were in a superior room, which was indeed superior. The beds were firm but very comfortable, the room was a good size and very clean, the shower strong and hot, the balcony, the view and peace and quiet all exactly what I hoped would be the case. In the morning, the coffee was very good, we did not eat breakfast but the buffet looked very good. Other than the hotel and adjacent castle we were a little bit disappointed with Jaen, the city, but we were only passing through. It was a perfect hotel for a comfortable short stay. We did eat dinner at the bar on the night we arrived and the food was not particularly good but it was fine for bar food and the ambiance was terrific.
Beautiful property with amazing views. The breakfast and dining options were superb. The staff is friendly, efficient and welcoming.
Excellent stay
beautiful property
The overall experience of our short stay at the parador was wonderful mostly due to this magnificent building and the amazing view from our room.
A re imagining of ancient castle set high above Jaen with splendid views. Modern, comfortable room with safe. No tea making facilities. Really disappointing that pool is shut in October despite temperatures consistently in the thirties. Very long way out of city centre. (Drive or taxi).
Perfect romantic getaway
Absolutely fabulous stay in gorgeous hotel. Beautiful spacious room with large private balcony overlooking mountains. Staff friendly and helpful. Lovely dinner on Castle terrace and leisurely breakfast in sumptuous dining room. Can't be many Paradores that are better situated than this one. Would highly recommend.
Amazing place!! Perfect
I find Spanish Paradores to be consistently wonderful (historic, elegant, clean, and most like this one are reasonably priced). They do vary in how historically special they can be, and this one, built out from old castle ruins on a hilltop with astounding views, was a real treat. Highly, HIGHLY recommend!
Very unique would visit again
Worth the trip!
We loved this hotel. It was more than we expected. The rooms were large and very comfortable. Beautiful location!
Castle with a view
Experience was absolutely amazing. Staying in a castle was a total dream and this castle accommodations were so nice. Very relaxing and the pool was very refreshing. Our spacious room overlooked the valley below with a fantastic balcony to relax on with a glass of wine.
Beautiful property with large comfortable beds and rooms. Staff were lovely too.
Excellent hotel and really good room However restaurant is really nothing special
This is a fabulous property, great location perched high above the city next to the castle (worth a visit) with amazing views. Our room had a small sunny balcony and very comfortable, including the beds. The building itself has all the atmosphere of a period property but doesn't lack for modern comforts. The restaurant is excellent, great food and choice of wine. The staff were all really helpful and friendly, from check in to check out. Would definitely stay here again, worth making a detour for.
Beautiful and unique castle with commanding views and period-like rooms.
Great views
The hotel is in a lovely setting. Rooms comfy good view from balcony. Well presented interior. Walked down to town 30 mins. Cab down 12 eu, cab up 9eu. The pool looked great with fab scenery which would have been super to spend time there during the 4 hour afternoon siesta in town. It had been closed since mid September which is that hotel chains policy. This was not shown on Hotels.com and was the main reason we booked the hotel for a relaxing break. Poor. Though it was not stated there is no coffee making facilities in the room which is a must with that lovely balcony view! First coffee would be at breakfast. There was absolutely no info in the room about restaurant timings, room services etc. Reception weren’t the friendliest so didn’t bother them. Once again beautiful setting….visit in summer months.
Highly recommend a night here
Nice hotel and views. Friendly staff with good service. Great breakfast.
Modern comfort and historic...perfect combination!!! The restaurant was good but I did not get a chance to visit and use the ameneties.
Great views from a historic building
Very friendly staff on check in (they made a big fuss of our 6 month old daughter and called housekeeping while we checked in to have a cot put in our room - all super clean and very helpful). We’ve not stayed at a Parador before and chose this as it was en route to our next stop. The room was good, with a balcony with a great view. The pool looked great although we didn’t have time to try it and the restaurant and hall etc were pretty grand. A lot of the furniture seemed very new and carpets etc look fresh - it is maybe a quirky choice of hotel as Jaén is perhaps a little off the beaten track for some. We were the only family we saw at breakfast, all the other guests seemed more mature although that might be due to the time of year (we stayed outside normal school holiday season). Compared to some of the other choices in the area which all seemed a little hit and miss looking we chose this hotel as we knew it was part of a wider group and that it would be reliable. Would stay again if we drive this way again.
Castle mountain retreat
The view of the mountains from the balcony of the room and the terraces of the hotel were fantastic. Great hiking trails nearby. Highly recommended.
this is a gem, the hotel is historic, the rooms have great views on to the mountains. The restaurant is great and the staff are friendly, I am glad I stayed there
Paradores Jaen
Amazing views, cleanliness and service.
A night in Jaen
Very nice hotel in a very beautiful place. Only complain is that the AC was not working and it was still hot at night. Had a very uncomfortable night. The half pension is well overpriced compared to the daily menu. Do not take it,
Quiet, relaxing with amazing views Staff very helpful €25 for two drinks is a bit expensive
Treat on our journey
On our way to the south coast we decided to have one night at a Parador hotel, and this one was as good as we expected. The room was OK but it was really meant for two, rather than three. However everything else was just as we expected - the pool, the restaurant, the bar, all excellent. We visited the castle the morning after, and that was also worth a look. Overall, a great experience.
Hotel with Beautiful Views
The Parador de Jaen is an old, but beautiful hotel with excellent views of Jaen. We truly enjoyed the old castle feel and would definitely stay here again. The food in the restaurant was also very good.
What a unique place to stay!
I messed up my hotel reservations between two cities so decided to stay somewhere between Córdoba and Granada. Jaén it is! This place is super unique. You cannot beat the location, on top of a hill, overlooking the town and its attached to a castle. We loved sitting out on our balcony, reading and having a beverage. This place is pretty cool!
Spectacular position high above city, all rooms have amazing views.Free parking right outside, fairly easy to find, though Jaén is not an easy place to drive round! Restaurant excellent, good set menu.Staff friendly & helpful.
Loved it. But why was the pool empty? View stunning...all good otherwise.
Our first Parador
Interesting place, lovely views, quite the castle. There were 3 of us traveling together and we all really liked our lunch in the bar; dinner not so much. The rooms are comfortable but beginning to show their age. There is an elevator and parking
During the planning stage of our trip, we wanted to stay at a Parador. Due to some unexpected changes in our itinerary, once we arrived in Spain, we had the chance to add Jaen and to stay at the Parador de Jaen. We splurged a little to get a room with a terrace and view of the mountains in the area. Definitely worth the extra money. Listening to the wind howl in the night added to the authenticity of the experience. The hotel is built on a hill 800 meters above Jaen, next to the Santa Catalina Castle. While the building itself is more recent, it was built to match the rest of the archaeological site. The fortress is dated as far back as the 8th century and has undergone changes over the conquering centuries, but it is an amazing place to explore. Be sure to walk all the way out to La Cruz - the views are spectacular. While we were there is was windy and raining and cold, but rainbows kept appearing, and it was worth the effort. The Parador de Jaen also has a fabulous restaurant. The breakfast buffet was well stocked with hot and cold selections and cooked to order eggs. Dinner was a treat. Several traditional offerings from the local area. Everything was well prepared and flavored. We were very happy to have the chance to see this part of Andalusia - an unexpected add-in.
Perfect castle
Absolutely a delight. Historic and charming. Love the vintage tiles, bathtub, public relaxing spaces and nicely starched linens
SPECTACULAR HILLTOP FORTRESS
ALL GOOD. DELICIOUS DINNER AND WINE. LOVED OUR EARLY WALK DOWN TO THE CROSS.
Great experience in a typical castle
Beautiful view, very nice outside pool, very nice castle.
Great staff. Fantastic view. Fantastic food.
Though a rental car is needed. All attractions are far away from the hotel. However the castle tour is steps away and very nicely laid out.
On the hill with great view
A good stop in Jaen, next to Santa Catalina Castle and stunning view. Ask for a room with a balcony. Did not think they should charge 10 euros per person surcharge for room service, therefore we did not use it. The meals were average and am sure they will improve as the guests leave their thoughts as we did. Would still recommend the hotel and the tour of the castle is a must. Also make sure to buy olive oil they sell at hotel from Jaen.
Always choose a parador!
The paradores of Spain are spectacular. The Castillo in Jaen was no exception. A beautiful setting, wonderful service and a totally unique feeling. The buildings that comprise the Castillo are lovely and our room had a private balcony with a terrific view.
It is an experience to sleep in an od castle. You do enjoy incredible view!! :) But the service is just OK. The rooms are worn out. The restaurant is nice but the food is average at the most
Spectacular Castle Location
The Parador de Jaen is in a spectacular location in the castle high above the city with amazing views in all directions.
The height of vistas and food
Well every silver lining has a cloud, this parador has breathtaking views of Jaen from it's lofty peak of over 750 metres, but you definitely need a car as the only other way into town is by taxi (which can be pricey) Jaen is a nice town to amble around for a day maybe two but no more. Finally if you like beautiful rustic and seasonal Spanish food then the parador can only add to your pleasure, excellent cuisine.
Views that take your breathe away
First rate hotel in a location with amazing views. Staff were very helpful and made the stay that bit special.
Beautiful building.
The building is beautiful, but maintenance could be better and staff could be more helpful.
disappointed with this Parador
I had booked this Parador as a final treat on our tour around southern Spain. I went with great expectations and was disappointed. We were directed to our room but not shown. It would have been nice to be shown how the systems worked and for half an hour I thought the bathroom light was broken. For the cost of the room I would have expected tea and coffee making facilities but there were none. We went for a meal and I was very disappointed. The helpings were small and my meat was tough. It was accompanied by one small piece of broccoli. As for value for money it was not worth the money.
My dream Hotel
Great service, restaurant, Great view
Parador Jaen
Great stay on top of hill overlooking Jaen city. Reception staff very helpful and friendly. Wanted a coffee in the bar in the morning but no staff around...I did ring the bell for attention . Location and views from hotel fantastic
It's a real castle!
Just drive up and up and up to the top of the Mountain. It's a real castle! It has huge great communal areas to relax in and an authentic medieval feel. Actually built in the late 20th Century, 1990's maybe, and hence is not awkwardly designed needing to fit into an existing structure. Of course the views are spectacular, and if the path to the end of the ridge is followed, to the cross, a fantstic view of Jaen cathedral is discovered.
Great view
Excellent views. Nice restaurant. Could do with some maintenance. Bathroom stank of sewer
Great hotel to stay.
Near the castle and looks perfect.
Wow
Could not have been more impressivem , Not met at the door by dancing waiters, but it was ensugh.
Excellent!
There's no other way to describe it! The best of all the Paradores we visited in this trip! Great air conditioner, beautiful scenery and awesome service!
Great experience.
Excellent experience, with a stunning view to the mountains and the town below. Historic atmosphere and luxurious at the same time. Great deal for the price.
Relaxing at medieval castle turned-into-hotel
This is an absolutely perfect place to relax. Wonderfully restored medieval castle on a top of the hill. Welcome by reception person a bit cold, but other aspects were fine. We have room with a balcony with beautiful view. Free ample parking available.
Fabulous views
Our balcony off our room had a great view. The room was spacious.
The best hotel you can stay in Jaen
Fantastic hotel built in a part of Jaen's castle.Better have a car to reach from/to hotel othervise tiresome walk.Delicious dishes in restaurant.Breakfast worths the money.
Paradore Jaen
Very imposing building and like a sanitized medieval castle inside. Imposing views.
Parador de Jaen
Really enjoyed staying at this hotel. View was incredible. Convenient restaurant at hotel. Would recommend.
Excellent Spanish Parador - Lovely building
Great experience. loved this Parador.
Fabulous Mountaintop Views
Great mountaintop setting with extraordinary views, even from the rooms. Good food. You can even visit the castle beside the hotel during opening hours. However, remote from downtown Jaen and the cathedral without a car or taxi.
Paradores Jaen
Nice setting but the hotel is a little dated and tired. Service wasn't all that. Stayed in the Romántica suite which was spacious but too much brown wood for me!
wonderful!!!
All was superb. We shall return.
Beautiful view
It is quiet The staff was helpful And friendly, Breakfast was nice. I wished it could have been outside. The pool area was beautiful, I wished the hours were longer especially to appreciate the gardens
great hotel for couples, must have a car
Great views from Parador. Pity Castle right next to Parador is closed for repairs. Some people may have stayed there because of the chance to visit castle

Amazing view from fabulous room
Fabulous modern hotel made to look like the castle nearby. Lots of quirky features. Room superb, lovely bed linen and towels. Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body cream all available in-room. Balcony lovely. Views are amazing and worth the drive with hairpin bends. Dinner and breakfast great. Service throughout was very good.
