Dream at Nungwi Dreams
Perfect ocean view and sound of the waves made for restful sleep at night. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Sometimes it was difficult to get the shower going but once it did, very hot. There’s a slight ant problem getting into the rooms.
Property was in a really good location and well maintained. The staff were always willing to go beyond the expectations.
Amazing infinity pool and private beach.
It is a great place to stay
Really amazing place and experience
This property is surly a dream. The property overall is very well kept and you can constantly see the staff doing all kinds of up keep. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the staff is absolutely amazing; From the amazing front desk crew to the restaurant and the rooftop pub (except at the morning breakfast buffet team that were unfriendly and not attentive). My wife had several services at the spa, and she said that the service was exceptional. We travel a lot and I cant remember giving all 5 stars, I can't say enough about this place.
The hotel is perfectly situated on the beach. Staff are wonderful, friendly and very helpful; in particular the manager who made an effort to provide advice and help when I was concerned about my flight. Food is good, with plenty of choice and the cocktails are great! The room is spacious, clean and quiet. There are two pools so the area doesn’t feel crowded Highly recommend
Great resort, beach views amazing, good food and close to nungwi beach resturants and kendwa beach
Good quiet property with beautiful beach access. Really enjoyed the skybar and very nice staff.
This was like staying in paradise. Our room was spacious and bright. Just a few steps outside our door is the pool and a beautiful white sand beach on the Indian Ocean. Soraka.tours made our reservations and took care care of everything. I will definitely use them again. Kathy
Love the rooms. I think the people at the bar can do better bcos they are delay in service
Staff were very friendly and try to help. Great location on the beach
Nungwi by Mantis is centrally located to all of the main tourists attractions, safe, secure and very well maintained. The staff are extremely friendly and very accomodating - a special shout out to Lathifa and Barakah that made our stay an absolute pleasure
Overall I enjoyed my stay. My only recommendations is that they improve on the WiFi. I had very poor signal in my room. Also, the tv options were very limited and poor quality in the room. Breakfast was free and really nice but food for lunch and dinner is so so. I wish they had more local options. I also wish they played more local music. They seemed to play a lot of pop music through the day so the actual experience of Zanzibar was limited. The staff were really friendly and it’s a beautiful resort.
Very nice hotel. Friendly staff. Nice rooms. But issues with water outages.
Calm & tranquility
Decent Stay but WiFi Issues Need Attention
The hotel was decent overall. The rooms were fine - clean and comfortable enough -and breakfast was satisfactory with a reasonable selection. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the stay more pleasant. However, the WiFi was a major issue. It didn’t work in our room at all, and despite reporting it, the problem was never resolved, which was quite inconvenient. On the plus side, Noel, the manager, was caring and attentive, which was appreciated.
Great place with below average food
4.5* hotel with very nice grounds poll and access to beach. Really enjoyed the stay except the food. You would expect that island nation would know how to cook fish and see food. Extreamly disappointment with food quality and lack of interest even if you make comment that something is not tasty. There was one person Kisa which was top notch and really helpful. And one meal which was amazing Arusha beef fillet - perfectly cooked. Everything else served especially during lunch 2*. I have still enjoyed my stay and could recommend it if food is not your thing
The staff was amazing I had a 2 week stay they always greeted me when I saw them treated me like family helped when i need and let me be myself I will miss my new found friends Baraka, Goodluck, Joseph, Anuary, and Aiku
My Stay
Power kept on tripping and the issue must be foxed
Purchased buffet and drinks. It rained they only refunded buffet but not drinks
Beautiful property with a nice view being located directly on the beach. However, upon arrival and the duration of my stay there was a sewage smell when I walked into my room. Also there was no hot water so I had to shower with cold water everyday & night which was extremely uncomfortable. One night after calling about it someone came to fix it but that only lasted for one shower afterwards it was back to cold showers. The next time I called to get it fixed, I waited almost an hour before someone came to my room, which was an inconvenience because I needed to get ready to head out. Even then nothing was done about it. The one thing I love to enjoy on vacation is a nice hot shower so the fact that it wasn’t available to me every night was disappointing. Also there were not many enjoyable entertainments at this hotel. Nonetheless, great customer service.
A bit for the price
Everything
The hotel was amazing. The food was great, service was impeccable, staff wefe extra helpful and kind. The facilities also met our expectations. Would definitely love to stay again. Was worth it
Enjoyed my stay it was great!
Absolutely amazing view. And was upgraded to a better sea view room once I had a conversation with the extremely helpful and friendly staff. Such an amazing place!
Highly recommended, great rooms very good service good people good location
Amazing friendly staff
I really had an exceptional time with very good service. The meals were great too.
Beautiful resort. Excellent accommodations.
I loved the property and how friendly the staff was. The only thing I didn’t like was the amount of flies. It made it really difficult to enjoy food and drinks outside by the bar or pool.
Everything about this hotel was amazing. The only thing I want to warn other travelers is that the staff will service and treat others first and better. No matter how long you were there first. I’ve noticed this on multiple occasions. This will be the only reason why I won’t book there again.
Amazing place to stay with beautiful views. The staff are so helpful and accommodating. Only down side is that the 24hour room service menu is quite limited in terms of options but besides that, nothing negative to say. Great stay
Very nice hotel 2irh amazing staff.
Very nice and clean boutique hotel. Different themed dinner every evening. The staff was extremely friendly. Very good choice in Nungwi
Everyone was so kind and the food was really good! I’d definitely stay here again. Had no issues during my stay.
I just want to start off with a HUGE thank you to the staff at this facility!! I've traveled to many islands in the Caribbean & Asia- the Nungwi Dreams has been the best stay EVER! The staff is kind, friendly, knowledgable/intelligent, catering, they all remember your name- I can go on and on!! I learned so much about Tanzania/Zanzibar & Africa in general from the staff, which kept me mentally stimulated- always a plus!! The facility is clean and well kempt. The food, hookah (shish) and drinks are tasty- I had the lobster pomadore 3 times. The chef baked a mini cake for my birthday & sang to me in Swahili!!! The entertainment provided by the local tribes/people is stunning & beautiful to watch. If you are a beach lover like me please take "swim shoes" with you (although the hotel provides)- the water can be a bit rough during the high tide and there a MANY sea urchins that you will need to dodge by wearing shoes. I spent most of my time by the pool which isn't typical for me, but was able to go in and out of the ocean during the low to medium tide. Special shout out to: Mark (manager), Simai, Victor, Baraka (bartender), Latifah, Akia, Daniel, Jaha, Charles, Lisa, Khatib, Tatum & the pool guys (didn't get their names)- you all truly made my stay as a Solo traveler the most amazing thus far (this was my 3rd solo trip). I will be back at some point- hope to see you all there! Thank you!!!

I don’t think I can rave about this place enough. The staff there are eager to please and literally wait on you hand and food. The free breakfast had so many options you will not be hungry until dinner lol. The massages were so amazing I felt so relaxed afterwards. And the best part about the property is the views. The views from our ocean front room was breathtaking. That same view stretches across the whole front of the hotel. Sitting by the one of the pools and enjoying the ocean view as well was my favorite way to relax. I loved it loved it loved it. It was also my birthday, and the staff got me a little cake and sang me happy birthday during dinner, it was so sweet of them! Thank you Nungwi Dreams!
Excellent. I recommend this hotel to everyone visiting Zanzibar/Nungwi.
Dream Resort for Vacation
Nungwi Dreams was a gorgeous resort for my 8 day stay in Zanzibar. Nestled in between other resorts and the ocean, the room had a spectacular view from the balcony. We arrived fairly late, and the resort was gated with security present, creating a safe environment for guests. The bed was very comfortable and the room spacious for two people. The two pools were easily accessible and cleaned often, and pools overlook the ocean as well. We opted for half board and the breakfast/dinner options didn’t disappoint. The l restaurant located at the Pool was a great place to grab drinks, pizza and sweet snacks while relaxing near the water. The staff and service was plentiful, although I wish there was a better virtual way to keep track of room charges. The only thing that would make this better would be to have an adults only side. I would stay here again, and truly enjoyed my stay!
Overpcied for what it is and food is terrible
Will try to be as balanced as possible. Good things: - staff very smiley and helpful everywhere -the swimming pools are really good and worth it -the beach is amazing one of the best visited atound the world (water shoes are provided aswell) Bad - food is not great at all...stale bread used in burger, fresh juice not fresh, the dinner buffet has poor quality ingredients and gone off fruit. Breakfast buffet was average although presence of flies was a let down. Overall this isnt 5star food at all and it is the main reason that the review is only 2 stars...£500 a night room but the food is more like 2star hotel food... Service- can be inconsistent...for lunch the wait time is 30minutes regardless of what you order. Sometimes you would ask staff for something and they would disappear and not come back...there is a tendency for them to ignore your request if they didnt understand it. Gym- small but functional but the air conditioning does not work so its like a sauna...again I raised it with a staff member who didnt return Rooms- occasional power cuts and water cut off can be annoying although its transient. Presence of ants in the room occasionally. Tldr: amazing beaches but terrible food not value for money
Nice stay
Every one was so nice food was good Angelina was especially helpful
Amazing rooms, service and views!
The chef was wonderful. He took the time to get to know our dietary needs and made us special entrees and desserts. However, having a screen on our balcony door, or a door that closed properly would have gone a long way. Also a mosquito net. One last tip. Do not use a taxi that is not provided for by the resort. We were quoted $20 by one but when we arrived at our destination, he demanded 40. Just a word to the wise
Not worth the price at all!
Not worth the money! Bad service. Unwelcoming. We were told that the pool was closed (closes at 6) yet there were two people in it and they weren't asked to get out. As soon as we got into our room we received a message asking us at what time we were going to leave?! Ants in the bathroom. Most guests seemed to be the all inclusive package type. Only positive thing was the view from the rooftop and the dinner we paid for (the breakfast that was included in the room price was terrible). Definitely not a 5* hotel as advertised. Left Nungwi two days earlier than planned due to the bad quality of service. By far the worst hotel we stayed at during our Zanzibar trip although it was the only one rated 5*.
The property exterior and pool area were amazing. The staff were excellent. The menu selection was lacking and food prices were a bit high.
Our experience in the Nungwi Dreams by Mantis was unforgettable ! First of all the hotel is gorgeous! The view is stunning. Everything was perfect. The staff was so welcoming and very professional. The food was so tasty, the breakfast was delicious with so many choices. We highly recommend it. And yes, we are coming back.
Aufenthalt war gut
Der Aufenthalt war angenehm, die Lage etwas abseits. Das Essen war gut & es gab ausreichend Auswahl.
Amazing view from the rooms with ocean view; Friendly and service minded staff & amazing food.
This was a WONDERFUL boutique hotel. The hotel itself was gorgeous, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. Beyond the gorgeous aesthetics, the staff was ABOVE and BEYOND! I certainly recommend this hotel. It is a great price point for a true 5 star experience. I will certainly be coming back, and I encourage others to stay there!
Amazing…
Beautiful place and an amazing experience…
The property has potential, staff is very sweet. Just move very slow. WiFi was horrible. Flies in food.
Loved everything about the property. It's location right at the beach, the pool was clean and gorgeous. The staff was very friendly and very well educated on hospitality. All staff I met had a degree in hospitality and were very professional. The services are excellent and would like to commend Laizer, Mwajuma, Suzan, Mohamed(Mudi), hilda, and the supervisor Charles Joseph who is the ultimate professional. This is our to go place together with my wife and will be back here when in Zanzibar.
Awesome get away. Worth the price.
Awesome accommodations. Food reasonably priced, good selection, and makes your mouth dance (really good). Great ambiance. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room is superb. View is outstanding. Pool is amazing. Beach is quiet. Security on site which is good.
Overpriced
This is a 3 star hotel with old, stained towels and the rug in the room really needed to be replaced. The price was exorbitant, the food lacked variety, the pool lacked adequate lounges and you could not swim in the ocean there.
The staff at the hotel are very accommodating aLways willing to go the extra mile to ensure great service. Hotel s quiet and peaceful away from the hustle of the main village but enough If you want to go there.Pool is adequate and overlooks the ocean for great views. The hotel sits on the beach , but tye beach and ocean itself is not the best beach in Nungwi for swimming. The Nungwi main beach is a quick taxi drive away however and for me was not an issue.Food at the mantis was good and i found it reasonably priced, and the hotel has some themed nights for dinner with live entertainment. The only issue with food was with breakfast with the chefs not quite getting easy over eggs correct but the breakfast was enjoyable.
Great resort. Big rooms. Big bathrooms. Clean. Nice pool.
the service was amazing. the road to the hotel is very bad
It was splendid , great team
A well organised resort and we appreciated that they gave us a free upgrade, reasonably priced and very good food.
I like everything l. Staff were polite, rooms werr spotless, excellent service.
The staff was so polite and helpful. The location was extreme bliss. I could hear the ocean from my bedroom.
Stay Away: Unprofessional Staff, Mediocre Rooms
I chose this place b/c of the good great reviews. So let's start with the good. The views here are really beautiful. The only thing I liked about this hotel was pool area and looking out at the beach. Here is the truth, even though they say that it is on the beach, you really can't swim. The beach is all rocks that you have to walk across it to get to the water. Also, beware of urchins. That was something everyone told us to be mindful of on the beach. The staff was TERRIBLE. I mean beyond unprofessional. The front desk lady was so shady and she also scammed us our first night. We were looking for a taxi, she said she could call one for us & tried to get us to pay 60 USD to go ten minutes round trip. Since it was our first night, we declined and paid one way for 30 USD. We know she was a scammer b/c the rest of the week, when we asked other staff to order a taxi it was 10USD. The entire staff was unorganized and frankly pretty clueless. The breakfast was bland. You had the same food every morning. There were flies all over the pastry section and the staff never made an effort to cover it. To be on the safe side, I ordered omelettes since they were made to order and was not just sitting out. Do yourself a favor & stay at the Z hotel or Doubletree or somewhere in that area on swim-able beach. We took taxi every time we wanted to go to the beach. I don't know what their rooms are like at those hotels but we enjoyed the beach in that area & you can actually swim there.
Staff very nice and helpfull making your stay a pleasure , staff always available to help which is amazing . Food in general very nice , however we felt the breakfast can be improved and more complete with a wider range .
Hotel was good but access to the hotel - road leading to the hotel was terrible. It addedto our journey times by 30 mins.
Beautiful place, with amazing garden and pool!
Stayed 4 nights. It is a up and coming young hotel. Clean. Looked better than on the pictures as the garden has grown. Lots of different places to chill out at. Good recommendations by the hotel manager. Overall very nice experience. The staff needs a bit of more experience but nothing that should stop you from going there
We had a great time. We stayed at the presidential villa. It is very large four bed house. 3 romms have full view to the sea. The hotel manager was very helpful in every thing we needed.
Beautiful amenities and private beach. Good restaurant and food options.
Stunning and quiet
Beautiful hotel in a quiet, stunning location. The infinity pool overlooks the private beach which is amazing! The only thing we didn’t like was the dining area...it could’ve been located in a nicer, more picturesque part of the hotel or at least decorated in a more aesthetic manner..however overall the place was beautiful and the staff were very helpful and accommodating! It’s a little bit away from the main area of Nungwi however the hotel can organize a taxi or even a boat(which we did!) to Nungwi or even Kendwa!
Very mixed bag. Friendly and attentive service from some staff, others seemed to be going though the motions. Rooms are spacious and quiet, but it's too far from the bars and restaurants to walk, so bear this in mind. PS airport transfers booked through the hotel are very expensive.
Location is less than ideal as it is 5+ minutes away from Nungwi village. Also, we found the food hygiene to be sub-standard. Staff was helpful.
Very nice
Great staff, very nice hotel and very nice pool area.
For that price very nice place. Staff was very friendly, breakfast was good. One night dinner was 10/10 but two nights I would say 8/10. Pool area is nice, gym is small and hot (poor air conditioning). Would recommend and visit again.

The property is nice, cute rooftop, good was good. Downside: the area surrounding is not the safest, you can’t enjoy the beach in front because there are people trying to sell stuff aaaaaall the time and there are way too many sea urchins there (bring water shoes); WiFi is almost nonexistent.
