Very disappointed
The bathroom was very small. They lock the door to the main entrance after 8pm and are supposed to give you a key for it. (They still use regular keys instead of a key card). But they gave us the wrong key and we didn’t know it until we were locked out of the building after 8pm. They do not have a night attendant or any employee on site after 8pm so we had to wait outside until another guest came back to the motel and they kindly let us in. The next day we went to leave through the back entrance and discovered that door is broken. The door knob and lock was actually taped up with duct tape. The continental breakfast was terrible. It is in the very tiny main lobby and has only one very tiny table with 2 chairs. You have to either eat in your room or eat outside. There is only one mini size microwave. We waited in line for 15 minutes to use the microwave (even though there was only 4 people ahead of us) and then decided to just skip it and only took a yogurt Then take it back to the room to eat it only to discover it was expired. Also the ice machine was broken. Overall awful experience and will not go back there again.
This property was very convenient for our trip to Sister Bay. The pool and hot tub were well maintained and enjoyable. Front desk staff were seldomly around and with no phone in our room to contact them, my grand daughter was not able to get an extra pillow. Also, didn't seem to responsive when I informed them that the coffee carafe was empty at the continental breakfast.
No exceptions to breakfast hours of 8 to 10 am.
Front desk staff was not accommodating in any way, when asked to get a few breakfast items from the locked cooler the night before, as we would be leaving at 6:30 am for the Peninsula Fall Century bike ride. We were repeatedly told breakfast is from 8 to 10 am and no, we could not get a yogurt or any other packaged item. Staff unfriendly and unhelpful.
Just okay, but won’t be back.
Had a good stay at this hotel. It is clean and the staff is very friendly. The breakfast did not accommodate any type of food allergies and they only had black tea. The front desk has sparse coverage.
Never book at Nordic
Horrible experience. We drove 4.5 hours up to find out that they over booked our room. The receptionist was the worst encounter i have ever had. She was not helpful flipped her screen over to "look for myself" that she did not have my reservation. Did not try to help find me another room somewhere else. Was so rude
Worst experince ever. Dont stay here
Probably the worst experience Ive ever had with a hotel ever. No employees on the property whatsoever to help us check in. The "emergency after hours 800 number" they have posted for "late arrivals" is not a valid number and goes to another resort. No one was answering calls. Othrt guests were also stranded and needdd help. When I was finally able to check in I did not receive the room I requested and paid for. Room was dingy. No room service due to "Covid and to keep prices down"?? I have never heard of this. This trip was for our anniversary and was a huge let down. Will never stay here again
Pretty run down and outdated. The pool and hot top were not very inviting, and for the price of the stay, I don't feel it was worth it.
Unclean, dark
Conveniently located between Ephraim and Sister Bay. More rustic than expected. Staff tried to close the pool/whirlpool well before posted times each night. No elevator, so be ready to carry bags up the stairs.
Room good security not so much.
The room was recently remodeled and the bathroom and bed was good. Nice pillow and sheets. However both doors had this weird loop as an extra security measure that didn’t make us feel good about the locks. There was a door from the hallway and one from the outside deck. When we got there the back door was wide open. Also the back hallway door was taped so it didn’t lock and the tape was painted over so it was there for a long time. Not secure at all. I would have preferred a refund to go somewhere else but the room was not refundable.
Very cozy and cute. Breakfast is a bit unique but plenty of options and still delicious. The pool had a few buggies hangin around but i lived. And the whirlpool was relaxing but was hard to find a time when so many ppl weren’t taking it up. Overall convenient for traveling in the local area. Would def recommend.
Great location! Indoor Pool and hot tub! Quiet
Avoid this place
called to cancel due to wrong booking date, and staff never cancelled, gave me the run-around, said a manager would call me back. They never did. I contacted them from their website, called them daily and still no calls back. Then on the day I was supposed to check in, I get a call back from another person who said again a manager would have to call me back, never did. Dishonest and deceptive operation. Can not recommend.
The property was well cared for and the was very friendly.
Pool, hot tub, and fire pits were very nice.
I have been waiting to stay at this hotel since I was a child. From the road it looks very charming but the interior is dated, musty, and dark. The bed was pretty comfortable and the linens were clean so that is a plus. I won't rule out staying here again, but I will know better what to expect.
Amazing stay that was perfect for a weekend getaway. Wonderful staff and excellent shower and wifi. Would definitely stay here again!!
Beautiful flower garden. Staff was super nice.
The carpet was dirty , not even vacuumed in the room , the sheet was on the bed inside out and someone was smoking outside our window . The hotel is definately in need of some tlc . The refrigerator roared all night lon in the room . In the morning the regular coffee was empty at 7:30 am . The person on duty was in pajama bottoms .
Dated rooms
The staff of two were friendly and helpful, but the room was dated. It was kind of dark and you had three seperate keys to fumble with, one for the room and two more for the front door and lobby after hours. They should be replaced with a single card. Also there were no USB portals so you could not charge your cell phone or any other devices you may have such as tooth brush and electric razor. It was okay for a two day stay but in the future I would spend a bit more to get a more modern place.
Works but needs help
The stay was acceptable for the price. Could be cleaner, needs a little maintenance also in loose door handles and sagging bathroom door that wouldn't close. Also AC kept clicking on/off after it ran a while. TV speaker was poor after TV was on a while. Also ask for 2 additional towels after first night, Was told they were out and the company would be bring any till Sunday afternoon. Could be nice with some effort but will go elsewhere next year. Only 2 hour breakfast time. Shower was good and bed was comfortable. Location was good.
outdated, overpriced, no elevator
Nordic Lodge is a below average property. There is no elevator, which could be a problem for some guests. The furnishings and decor are outdated. There are signs in the pool area not to touch/ attempt to open windows ( they looked like they would fall apart if this was attempted) Breakfast is meager, and there are only 2 small tables in the tiny area near check-in desk. No microwave to heat up sandwiches, only old toaster oven. Coffee was good There is a nice hot tub and pool area Staff seemed very disinterested in assisting guests. One attendant was facing other way while on obvious personal phone call when we wanted to ask questions. The bed and room were fairly comfortable. The bathroom was very small, and the door would not close. Heater in room was very loud, and guests next door could easily be heard throughout stay. Disappointing stay at almost 200/night. Would not return
Nordic Lodge is in a great location, close to Sister Bay, Ephraim, and Fish Creek. It is not a fancy or luxurious hotel but does have breakfast, a swimming pool, and hot tub. Most importantly to me, the bed was comfortable and the location quiet.
Comfy beds
Read several negative reviews but in my opinion, a lot of people are expecting too much from a 2 Star hotel. Sure, this place could use some updates but overall the room was very clean and the area felt safe and that is our main concerns. We have stayed at four and five star hotels and Airbnb's that were dirtier.
we had nice clean rooms and RON was easy to visit with and wanted to keep this place nice
It’s tucked back in a little bit, there was a balcony, places to have a little bonfire outside to relax at the end of the night, grills were available for use and the staff was really friendly
this is an older property, with a worn carpet, no elevator; ok nothing wrong, but old
Although we were grateful for the location, our stay at Nordic Lodge was just ok. The rooms were quite clean, loved the patio off the room, but the worn paint, aging facilities, and unkempt lawn equipment made our stay just ok.
The king-sized bed was comfortable.
It was a nice stay and liked the location. We would stay there again.
Locstion was great. Facility was older but clean.would stay again.
Business trip in beautiful Door County.
Nordic Lodge provides all your necessities when visiting Door County. Location is great and breakfast options are very good.
Affordable. It got everything you need, location, price, indoor pool and hot tub, balcony, privacy, barbecue and yard sitting area surrounded by trees.
Place is dated but comfortable and quiet!
Property is pretty run down. Some things have been updated, but many have not, such as the doors and locks to the rooms. Rooms are dark. Bathroom was tiny. Cleanliness was a concern. When I moved the nightstand to reach the outlet, there were candy wrappers and and other garbage there. Room is not cleaned daily. Cushions on pool lounge chairs were old and worn. I expected more for the price I was charged. I would not stay at this property again.
Older lodge with limited help at desk. Quiet area with shuttle available. Very limited breakfast. Realize Door County is a busy tourist area, but very pricey for not a lot of resort.
Price friendly. Convenient location as it is close to the main shopping and restaurants and scenery. Staff was very friendly.
there was handicap parking and our room was on first floor close by. It was close to the pool and hot tub. Used the hot tub each evening.
Very quiet and everything was great!
Clean. SLOW check-in. Had to ring the "RING" doorbell multiple times to get someone to show up at main desk in order to check in. Probably waited at least 10 minutes for someone to show up. First morning was OK. 2nd morning = electrical problems. Circuit breaker for our room kept tripping. Circuit breaker box was located in hallway maintenance area. NOT in our room. Everything in room was turned off except for the hair dryer. OK first day but BIG inconvenience the 2nd day. Upon checkout I asked for a discount for the 2nd night. Desk person said she couldn't do anything. It was up to the owner that was not on premises. Desk person took my phone number and said the owner would contact me. It's been 3 days and I have not been contacted. My guess is I never will be. Definitely WILL NOT stay here again!!!
Served our needs and mostly clean. Breakfast not great.
Our stay was good. Everything worked well. The room was clean and the bathroom was very clean. The bed was very comfortable. Plenty of pillows. The staff was really pleasant. It was a relaxing time.
Quiet hotel. Clean. Comfortable. Didn't like carpet in sink area and some things could use an update but overall nice affordable place
It was a quaint little property. A little older but everything was clean and maintained. We enjoyed the up north vibe.
My reservation was cancelled and I was not notified. We drove 5 hrs to get there to be told it was over booked and cancelled on july 5th my trip was the weekend of the 17th. If you were over booked you should not have taken the money. Still trying to recover from expedia. Worse part we needed to use the bathroom and was told no public restrooms!!! Wow thanks for the BS no room and lack of care for our kidneys!!
Very clean and staff was very welcoming.
It was a great place with great people. Just a wonderful expereince.
The good: nice front desk staff, BBQ, fire pits, clean swimming pool and hot tub, firm mattress. The bad: Mice traps around the hotel, and CLEANLINESS of the room (hotel claims daily cleaning services and in real life they don’t), our bath tub was very dirty when we checked in, lots of long black hair on the walls and soap scums on the facet (I always carry Lisol wipes with me so I took care of it cause we checked in late evening), a lot of dust on bed headboard, nightstand lights etc. Property definitely needs some renovations.
The pool and hot tub were great. The room key didn’t work for one of our key sets and the door to the outside was tricky to lock. It was very noisy our last night there, but it was just other guests being loud.
Comfortable
Nordic Lodge is not glamorous, but it is clean and comfortable. It has everything you need.
Managers were friendly. Bath door was so warped it wouldn’t close. A/C super loud-
Very nice staff , very clean and great location. Comfortable bed and spacious bedroom. I like it.
I loved how easy check-in was and how safe the area felt. Parking was so close, and I felt very at home in my room. I loved the patio attached to my room, and the beds were very comfy. Getting to downtown Sister Bay was super easy as well, just a minute or two down the road.
It's a low-key place.
Hotel staff was very helpful, we had a late check in, keys were left for us in mail box, easy accommodations. Staff was very knowledgable about the weekend events and gave several suggestions on local restaurants.
safe ,no noise, pool ,great stay
It was nice.
Loved having indoor pool & hot tub!
Environmentally Friendly
Lovely location just a short drive out of Sister Bay. First motel I've seen that collects recyclables in the room! Great environmentalists!!!!! The Earth thanks you!!!!
It was quiet and staff was friendly
Great value and close to downtown.
The location was close to downtown Sister Bay and Ephraim. Woods surrounding the hotel was nice.
Ok
The stay was nicw
The place was clean the staff was very friendly
Very friendly and helpful staff. Very serious about covid protections. Wonderful stay.
Indoor pool was phenomenal on a rainy day.
Very clean and quiet.
Bathroom floor was dirty, hot tub was not working, trash containers were overflowing, outdoor furniture in poor repair, pool was not heated (ice cold) , ran out of items at minimal breakfast bar(breakfast sandwiches).
Although the amenities were a little sparce, the bed was very comfortable. What I didn't like was that there were no comfortable chairs to sit in. I had to bring one in from the little terrace so the two of us could sit down and not on the bed. Staff was very nice and helpful, though. As far as breakfast was concerned, we went put to eat. Enough said.
Quiet location-scenic
Location was great. Air conditioning unit in room was NOISY!!! Complimentary Continental breakfast hours ended too early.
Nice place overall
The Nordic Lodge is a nice place. It is a little older but has been updated recently. Most things in the room are newer and have been well maintained. The pool and hot tub are nice. The outdoor patio have newer furniture the is clean. If you want there are grills you can use.
Staff was helpful and friendly. Bath mat needs to be replaced due to mold.
All good.
Our stay was good. The only disappointing thing was the hot tub being closed due to Covid. Otherwise, the room was clean, nice sized refridgerator, microwave, and comfy beds.
My wife and I were supposed to spend 2 nights here for her birthday something came up and we had to leave a day early I am supposed to be getting a refund for the day we didn’t stay. That’s the only good thing I have to say about this lodge. The pictures of the place are not accurate. The bed was very uncomfortable (way to hard). The pool was pretty nice although it’s only open about 7 hours. It just seems that it needs a lot of maintenance that it’s not getting (keys got stuck in the door, lights didn’t work and had to hook up the tv properly so it would work). The continental breakfast was a toaster from like 1950 and the whole counter area may be 2.5 to 3 feet and there is no seating. If this was a $50-$70 stay it would be decent but $160 is way to much. The very first thought I had upon arrival was “am I gonna have to fight bed bugs for my pillow or will the roaches carry off my duffel bag”.
Nothing unique. Place was a real dump. No safety strips in t he tub to prevent falling while taking a shower. "Free" breakfast was a joke. The was no housekeeping service. We had to make the beds ourselves.
Memorial Day Weekend
Hotel was ok, clean, just outside of town, quiet
We had a mix up with our reservation and they helped us get it worked out with no problems. Thank you so much
Door County
Very convenient to attractions and restaurants in Door County. Okder hotel but very clean.
good location and nice and clean! super friendly service with convenient breakfast
Friendly staff, clean, pool was warm and great water pressure.
Cleanliness issues
They didn’t check balcony or wipe down, as there was a disgusting soda bottle with cigarettes on the bottom left there. Used coffee filter left which means they didn’t clean the coffee area either. We would not stay here again as there are so many other options in the price range.
I took my granddaughter and 2 of her friends who are all 19 for a little get away. the room was roomy and clean and the towels were fluffy and thick. I thought it would be on the water but the lake was too far for us to walk to.
We loved the location of Nordic Lodge and the staff was so kind and accommodating. Would stay here again.
We had a great stay at the resort. The room and lobby were very clean. The staff was very friendly. Close to both Ephraim and Sister bay hot spots. Would stay again.
It is a nice hotel. I enjoyed sitting outside our room with a little deck, table and 2 chairs very peaceful. The pool was good and had a real good size deck to go sit and dry off. The room service was different because of Covid was cool. They dropped off towels, coffee for the machine, little shampoo bottles and soap. They left a basket to put your dirty towels in. If you needed garbage taken out all you did was hand it to them or ask if they could take it and then hand it to them. We had a real nice time. The area was nice,
Decent, for the money paid for it. The biggest down was the breakfast. I am aware that due to the COVID-19 situation they weren't able to serve normal continental breakfast (included in the price), but what they offered as the substitution was cheap, inadequate and below any standard.
The room was perfect for what we needed. The beds were super comfortable. Staff were all extremely nice. The building and grounds need some TLC.
OK place to stay
We were here several days and room was never cleaned r towels replaced. When we asked was told cuz of covid but other places were cleaning rooms. Bed was nice n location was good.
Nordic Lodge was our first hotel in Door County and is our eternal favorite. It's very quaint, only caveat this time is the whirlpool was out of commission and the pool water cold. So no swimming.
Property needed a bit more cleaning up. Nothing on the outside deck was set up. Room not up to date but worked for our stay.
Could be better
Easy and fast checkin and check out. The beds were small for two person. We were told breakfast is at 9am but it was actually 7-9am so that was a little disappointing. By the time we got there, it was closed already.
Good location, but very run down. Pool was so cold it was not usable. Hot tub was closed down. We booked planning to use both.
The room was nice. The breakfast was disappointing.
Staff was very friendly and helpful with Great recommendations for eating places and other attractions. Very pleased with stay! For cost we were definitely satisfied.
Very friendly staff Was sad the whirlpool was empty and not usable, I wish they would have told us that when we checked in. Overall everything was nice.
