The property had a nice layout and a beautiful view as well. The cabins are very nice and had good kitchens. Was able to see the Northern Lights, which were fantastic. Only issue - if you could even call it that - was that checkout was at 10 and no one was at reception (building locked) so we had to just leave the key in the cabin.
Great hotel and greqt area to tour feom. Very remote and we were not told bar and restaurant were closed so were lucky we had food.amazing well sticked kitchen. Spotless and toasty warm. Hot tub was fabulous. Great hotel resort overall
There is no hair conditioner, no body lotion in shared washroom. There is no paper in the kitchen. You can hear the noise from common areas, and other rooms when sleep
I came in early winter. Very much the low season. In winter the place feels truly remote, a refuge from the world, which is what I came for. There are a couple easy thing they can do for low-season guests below. The building interior was nice and warm. It was a very nice refuge from the cold, The room was so warm that even with the thermostat all the way down I was overheating until I cracked a window. Yes, in an Icelandic winter. The hot bath is the highlight of the property and my main reason to go there. I didn't quite understand that breakfast had to be pre-ordered. This makes sense, especially in the low season, but I don't remember if this was in the welcome message. Can there be an option when signing up to pre-order for the first morning? Or... we might order ahead for some groceries to be left in the kitchen: muesli or some such. Hostel stuff. Also for winter: I really recommend better lighting by the geothermal pool... maybe just low-power path lighting to make it easier to find your way from the pool to the showers or sauna after sunset. Twice I wanted to use the sauna but didn't because I couldn't see the way to get to it.
Great new cabins, the hot pool is only available at a cost which we weren’t aware (and the breakfast as well). Location is not ideal as it’s quite remote
Nice and Quite location..
What a beautiful 2 days we spent at midrhaun I went to the hot tub which was gorgeous and my husband went on search of the ultimate picture of kirkjufell. We even caught a sighting of the aurora. What an amazing experience!
This was our favorite place that we stayed while on vacation in Iceland. The views were fantastic, the kids could walk to the park, and we could walk to the geothermal bath on the property. The rental itself had everything we needed. If we come back to Iceland, we will be staying here.
Received multiple contradictory check in instructions. It was unclear that we were renting a room and not an apartment in a hostel situation. Rules with fees posted everywhere which felt incredibly unwelcoming. Fees to use basic facilities we were expecting. Would not recommend if you have better options.
Nice place, great shower room
Loved this hotel. Restaurant at hotel very good. Very peaceful area. Very nice and clean living space.
The cottages and the setting are beautiful. The geothermal pool is a welcome touch.
Loved our 2br appt with laundry attached. We checked in at the restaurant after hours at 9:40pm, smooth and kind. We were only there for under 12hrs as check out is at 10am. We were bummed when we saved showers for our stop in the hot spring only to be told that the hot spring was an additional fee for each of us. We skipped it. I think you should include the fee in the stay, even if you increase the overnight price.
The place is a gem! Exquisite, well taken care of property with many conveniences. To start, the cabins are all new and extremely clean. We loved that there was a bed for each of our 5 family members, and very cool that they can accommodate larger groups in larger cabins. The views were magnificent, and we loved that there were sheep on the property. The sauna was beautiful and the surrounding stream was very peaceful. The food at the restaurant was A , but pricey. I guess this is to be expected in Iceland. The restaurant itself had a lot of personality! We would definitely come here again and highly recommend.
Beautiful property, wonderful staff, absolutely fantastic dining options and chef Jacek really cared about his customers. The view is picturesque and the location is really stunning.
Interesting location. Clean rooms
We stayed in Iceland for 7 days and a different place every night. This was the BEST place we stayed. Beautiful, clean, spacious, comfortable beds, great details, geothermal pool, cold plunge, amazing food, washing machine, playground for kids, and beautiful scenery. This was a step above!!!
Our room was very nice and the amenities were great. The bedroom and bathroom were both very pleasant and very clean. Loved the smell of the shampoo and body soap. Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant there were both delicious. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
Lovely resort! Would stay again. Our house was clean and felt brand new. The only thing that was a concern was the design/location of the exhaust fan over the cooktop. Watch your head!
Would Not Recommend at all
The room was fine, but all the other aspects are terrible. The hotel sent me 2 identical check in instructions after I made the reservation and on the day of the reservation saying that it's a self check-in process and a map of the resort. We followed the instructions: my name will be on the window of the main door of the room and the room will be open after 4 pm, but there was no name all at the house , the door was NOT open either. We thought we messed up our room number and followed the instructions again that we could find a room number list inside the greenhouse. There was NO room number list in the greenhouse. I called the front desk and the reception asked me to go to the restaurant. We went to the place labeled as "breakfast" on the map provided by the hotel, the place was not the restaurant. We had to drive around the resort to find the restaurant. I am amazed that every single check-in detail provided by the resort is completely wrong. We had dinner at the restaurant. There were only 3 groups of people at the time, yet it took them 50 minutes to get our food. The food wasn't great either. The beef tenderloin was overcooked, and it tasted gamey. We also ordered a lobster bisque, and it was supposed to have bread coming along with the soup, yet the bread came 5 minutes after the soup was served, and it was darn cold. With the quality being so low, the food was surprisingly expensive. It was around the same price as a fancy fine dining restaurant in Reykjavík. We al
The room was so clean and so interesting. Everything was clean, nicely decorated and seemed new. The people working there were very nice, food excellent.
Very easy check in. Clean. Nice small kitchen. Quiet area. Great curtains for summer in Iceland. Next to everything. Comfortable bed
Great views and location.
Clean, comfortable, lovely property, friendly staff.
Initially greeted by the chef that was welcoming and went out of his way to show us to our room and inspect the cleanliness. The premises was clean, very modern, and had all the needed amenities including a geothermal pool, full kitchen, and multiple bathrooms. We also went to the dinner buffet which was amazing. Although a bit pricey at around 6,000 isk/ person, the quality and sheer quantity was well worth the price. Kudos to the chef and staff!
Very pleasant visit
Very clean and updated property with a fun trampoline for the kids (or kids at heart). Kitchen was well equipped. Laundry machine was in the unit. Dinner buffet was very nice. We enjoyed the tranquility and the sunset. I did not like that there was a pretty steep charge of 1500 ISK for a towel for the pool (you are not allowed to use room towels). I ended up opting not to use it because of the extra cost.
Our family of 7 afults stayed in the 5 bedroom apartment. It was perfect! So well appointed and roomy. It was clean and fresh looking. They have a huge hot tub, everyone enjoyed. Breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend this place
The restaurant at this property was a standout and one of the best meals of our trip. We were also able to relax in the geothermal spring/spa after a day of traveling. The staff was friendly and I would definitely recommend this property.
We loved staying in this resort for 2 days. The property sits on a campus with a restaurant, a traditional guesthouse comprised of a multitude of rentable rooms with full kitchen, and multiple cottages of varying sizes. They have a huge hot tub, playground, and paths to walk on! Friendly staff and great food as well. Highly recommend for a long stay.
The property is very clean, well-organized and the amenities were more than sufficient for us to feel comfortable despite the shared bathroom. The shared kitchen and living space are a pleasant plus. Wish we had brought something simple to prepare in the kitchen. The buffet dinner, prepared by a warm-hearted chef, was very delicious. We had a good stay there.
Would definitely stay here again! And the food was Amazing!!
Easy and comfortable.
I find it strange that they did not provide hairdryer & when I asked for it, they said it’s because guests have taken it in the past. So hairdryers are only upon request now! Their heaters were installed on the floor & too warm for summer. When asked how to adjust, they responded to just open the windows. During the night, the bedrooms became a bit too warm. Other than that, still a great place to stay as the amenities are well maintained & place very spacious. We like the patio where we could sit outside.
Amazing place to stay with family! Staff are really good and the VIP breakfast was incredible! Was close to the places we went sightseeing and the view was gorgeous!
Received an upgrade to a beautiful cabin in an idyllic setting. Your sat nav link is incorrect and took us to a building site. The property is 50 mins away further than we wanted to go! The owner says she has people call late at night and then have to travel much further. This needs to be rectified asap
Great location
Stayed here once before. It’s a great location, quiet, clean and a great place to base yourself when travelling around the local area.
Superb holiday retreat
Clean, modern and a great little location. The hot spa was an unexpected bonus along with the barn animals for the kids.
We loved the location and the accommodations. The apartments were incredible. We have no complaints with the service, but did miss having a chance to interact with anyone. Having self check-in & checkout and a phone number to call if we needed anything made it seem more like a self-catered apartment than a resort or a farm stay.
Great property. But has bad directions on Expedia. Left us 40 miles away from the property. The property is not even located in Borganes. The location is quite scenic and the property is very clean.
Beautiful house, great location
Nice place.
Loved this place. Felt like a home from home. Modern and comfortable, well stocked with all you need. Great view and lovely breakfast delivered to the door. I hadn't been well and so this was a real godsend. Just sorry couldn't stay longer!
Beautiful setting, with a private cottage next to a stream. An active sheep and horse ranch.
A wonderful, clean charming place to stay.
Very beautiful apartment, has everything you need. We saw the northern lights there. Wil definitely go back!!!
Prepare to cook for youself
There's no reception, they have your name on the room. The shared bathrooms are surprisingly nice. The room is small and had two small beds. Some basic kitchnery is provided
Gorgeous property and location. Even though it’s remote it’s well located and conveniently for exploring the peninsula. Nice decor and well stocked kitchen. The in-room sink was appreciated. It would have been even better if there was an additional powder room with toilet as one bathroom for showering and toilet amongst 6 adults made for congested evenings and mornings when everyone is trying to leave around the same time. But on the whole the property was outstanding and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to friends and family.
Lovely peaceful stay
The room was perfect and we cooked a great dinner in the large, fully functional kitchen (shared). Everything we needed was there and all very clean and comfortable. We went for a pleasant walk around the pretty property to see the sheep and plants and great views of the mountains. We would definitely stay again.
A Fantastic place to stay and enjoy
We absolutely LOVED our stay at Lava Water. The location is wonderful for restfulness, yet in a great location to explore all of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. You'll want to spend two or three nights there to visit everything in the area. Our spacious two bedroom apartment just could not have been nicer or cleaner. We enjoyed a tour of the sheep and horse part of the farm, and great conversations with the friendly and fun Anna. We also were lucky enough to see the Aurora Borealis on Aug 31. What a special summertime treat that was! Restaurant Tip: Drive 37 kms to Stykkishólmur and have one of the best seafood meals of your life (especially the unbelievably flavorful steamed mussels cooked to absolute perfection) at Sjávar Pakk Húsiđ.
It's a beautiful house. Large common area with kitchen and living room. Very clean. Anna is a great host, very responsive and friendly.

Great
very nice property but very small room for two adult males. room was more appropriate for one
Gorgeous Snæfellsnes apartment
Beautiful appartement in a very peaceful setting. Services are far away but gas station pretty close. Highly recommend as a base to visit Snæfellsnes peninsula
We stayed in a triple room with shared bathrooms and amenities. Everything was clean and well-equipped. It wasn't too crowded during our stay so the shared bathrooms weren't a problem, but keep it in mind if you go during high season. The only inconvenience was the self check-in. We didn't know which building we should be looking for, but a quick phone call sorted it out. There are several guest-houses on the property, and a great place for kids to play (with a charming play house, slide, and trampoline). Behind the houses is a wonderful moss-covered lava field with a babbling stream and several pools.
We had 4-bedroom apartment. The house is brand new. Fully equipped, including a washer and dryer! You need cook yourself, and purchase food before entering the small town.
Clean and lovely place. Beautiful kitchen and excellent facilities. Wish my room was bit more spacious. Shared bathroom is huge (probably bigger than my room). Friendly staff and great location.
Excellent stay
Charming country cottages. The whole house is very clean....kitchen, living, bathroom & bedroom. Great memory foam mattress & bedding, best sleep during our 10 days trip. Located just 200m off main road
Ommu Hus is absolutely beautiful! Beautiful location and we were the only ones here. Would stay again and I recommend anyone up in this region stay here.
Perfect Snaeffelsnes Peninsular base camp
Lava Water Accommodation is comprised of various units on an organic sheep farm. We stayed in what is described on hotels.com as a one bedroom apartment but which is actually a cute little self-contained cottage (and haven't seen the other units). It's like staying in one of those perfect little demonstration areas you see in IKEA stores. We couldn't explore the farm itself as there are so few winter daylight hours and we were out and about, but it's a great base camp for a circuit of the Snaeffelsnes Peninsular. I am generally wary of very small, independently run places, as you often need to call in advance for check-in codes or to visit another location first to get the key, but this couldn't have been easier. But you do need to plan in advance and arrive with groceries, as the nearest supermarket is approx. 25 miles away. Or you could eat at the small restaurant a few miles down the road. The only complaint in the cottage is that a child-size bunk bed has been added over the pillow ends of the twin beds and it creaked and moved during one especially windy stormy night. Otherwise, it's picture perfect. Note: As of December 2018, approx 10 small houses/rental units are being built adjacent to the farm, so there will be a little more traffic and activity starting in 2019.
Farm animals were lovely! Accommodation was very clean and kitchen was well-stocked w utensils & appliances.
Well equipped and clean. Friendly owner who was very happy to show us the sheep and horses in the morning just before we left. Ideal location to explore the Snaefellsnes peninsula.
The CUTEST little cottage!! Our trip to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula was hijacked by crazy wind, but we had a lovely stay in the little yellow cottage at Lava Water. Had everything we needed for a relaxing quiet night, and I would go back without hesitation. Anna was great at timely communication, and helpful with any questions we had. Highly recommend!
Great place to stay!
Beautiful location. Clean and comfortable. Nice common area with kitchen and food storage bins. Would advise to arrive well before sunset since finding your way in the dark would be difficult
Worth !!!!!
Comfortable stay..... nothing to complain.
Highly recommended
Great Kitchen to cook yr own meal. Shared Bathroom is huge. Very effective self check in method which I liked. Cosy. Highly recommended.
A nice surprise in a picture perfect country setting yet still easily accessible. Peaceful, tranquil setting with very clean spacious and modern rooms. Enjoyed the farm animals and the quiet. Seamless, efficient check in and out.
Wonderful Stay
We stayed at the Hildin - 2 Bedroom Apartment on this property. It was excellent. The rooms were extremely clean, spacious, nicely decorated and comfortable. All the location and check in information was provided to us before hand by the owner and the key was left in the room so that we could arrive when we wanted. This was great for us as we arrived late around 9:30pm. For a family of four, this turned out to be the ideal accommodations. We wish he could have stayed at this location longer. The only draw back, though this wasn't an issue for us, was that breakfast wasn't served and there isn't much close around the property.
Cosy cottage with lovely view and stream running past. Very nice touch to provide coffee, tea, oil, salt and pepper.
Beautiful place to stay in Snæfellsnes! Directions were clear, accommodation clean and very comfortable
We lived the quietness. The kitchen was well equipped. Modern decor and relaxing place. The bed linen can be sofrter
This is a lovely apartment. It is clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend this apartment to friends
Brand new 4 BR apartment was just right for our group of 7 adults. Kitchen was well-equipped and there was ample room for dining. Rainfall shower was especially nice. Our host was very accommodating when we asked to extend our stay.
Charming, peaceful, cute kitchen and living room. Clean with nice views.
Modern apt, spacious, fully stocked frig
Made me want to move to Iceland and live on a farm
Absolutely beautiful grounds and peaceful stay here.
