It is a charming place, clean, quiet with an added bonus of a beautiful garden. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay, I wish we could stay longer. I would suggest putting a chair in the room and changing parking description, it was misleading. But these are minor, didn't take away anything from the stay. When we are in Richmond again we will definitely stay in Linden Row.
Lovely place and very friendly staff.
The property was historic, unique, and full of character.
Historic, clean, comfortable, unique!
The Linden Row Inn is a historic hotel with lots of charm. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was cleaned as expected but we were disappointed to not have enough wash cloths and towels provided. Otherwise our short stay was comfortable. It should be noted that there is a hotel cat who lives at the hotel and roams the first floor. She’s adorable and sweet but I do know others who are fearful of cats and would be very upset to have a cat cross their path without warning. The presence of the cat should be listed in the hotel description on Expedia and on the front page of their website.
Hotel Condition
The property is very dated e.g., building, furniture, drapes, carpet, cleanliness of the bathroom, and paint chipping. On the other hand, the front desk staff were cordial and Annabelle the cat was loving.
Overall I would say my stay was fine. The value was good for the price I paid, and it got me very close to where I needed to be for the evening. The only thing I would mention is that my bathroom toilet in room 234 was running all night, so you may want to have that looked at.
Great stay!
This visit was great. Hotel staff very kind and knowledgeable! Comfortable beds, clean rooms and great location. There was the sweetest cat in the courtyard also…maybe a friend of Poe 😉
Historic property with walkable location, pleasant staff
Sweet Times in Richmond
We really enjoyed our night at the Linden Row Inn, from the kind service to the beautiful room to Annabelle the cat (she does not enter guest quarters). The series of buildings that constitute the inn are historic and well maintained, with high ceilings (an unusual pleasure in comparison with the low ceilinged rooms that come with most hotels) and a series of porches with rocking chairs. We were very charmed and would certainly stay again the next time we're in town.
It was our first time staying at Linden Row. What a charming place. The staff is so friendly, the area is very walkable, lots to see and do.
Staying at the Linden
It was an amazing experience. Great service and great location.
Nice atmosphere, perfect downtown location. Definitely recommend
This historic property fits perfectly into the neighborhood. The rooms are large and tastefully furnished. Easy check in and out. Street parking usually available and walking to nearby restaurants is safe. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else
A classic , charming old inn. Don’t stay if you want plastic newness or frivolous amenities. If you seek old world charm and lovely old buildings, this is the place for you. Very accessible to downtown as well.
Charming spot
Love this charming hotel. Friendly, efficient staff enhance the experience, but the team won is the location, walking distance to sins of the best restaurants in old downtown Richmond.
Unique, quaint setting
This historic hotel is just lovely. Its restaurant wasn’t open so I gave it a 4 in two spots but it’ll reopen in spring. I look forward to going back soon
All good
I'll be back!
The service was amazing, and the hotel is so charming! I stayed in one of the garden rooms and loved walking through the courtyard to get there. I was greeted by the Inn's cat, Annabelle, who kindly escorted me to my room. My only suggestion for improvement is a station to refill reusable waterbottles. I'll certainly be staying here again the next time I'm in Richmond!
Out of towners
The hair dryer didn’t work and tried different outlets. Hanging off the wall wouldn’t go back into wall case. Otherwise a really nice stay.
Creepy and Rundown--I loved it!
The staff is outstanding! Warm and friendly. The place has character. Because it is a historic property, I'm willing to overlook a lot of the drawbacks, but people considering it should be aware there are many. I was given a second floor room. The stairs were uneven and the layout is somewhat confusing. My room was about average in terms of cleanliness. Shelves were coming loose from the wall. The plumbing was not in great shape. Water pressure was very low. Staff acknowledged that there was a water crisis that had not yet been resolved. It wasn't there fault. As with many 19th century properties, wiring was an afterthought. Wi-fi was terrible--slow, weak signal, constant outages. Furnishings were a bit shabby and the Edgar Allan Poe theme was a bit over-the-top in places. The restaurant was closed. Despite all the drawbacks, I thought the place had character and would recommend it. The place was comfortable and I felt very much at home there.
Great location and friendly staff. Parking can be an issue.
Don't even think about staying here
This place should be shuttered. Poor conditions throughout. Zero amenities
The hotel was beautiful! It’s old, so there are things that make it less convenient. The walls are thin/lack insulation so we could hear our neighbors. You get a key and not a fancy card to enter the room. For my wife, the best part was the cat in the lobby.
Room was clean and beds extremely comfortable. Accessories (refrigerator and coffee maker) were a plus. Parking can be challenging, but was able to find some.
The front desk clerks (AM & PM) were delightful, professional, & caring. Helpful & knowledgeable about local area. Room was spotless & beautiful
The property has it's charm, but there are definite signs of wear & tear. Elevator buttons missing and elevator door has trouble opening.
the Inn is super conveniently located for those visiting and/or doing business with the Virginia government as the capitol is only a 15-minute walk away. During the General Assembly session, there is a shuttle available for guests.
The property is charming, as is the kitty cat hostess, but the room left a little to be desired. The mattress desperately needs to be replaced. We could feel every spring poking us. Also had to turn off the loud mini fridge in order to sleep. Front desk was friendly and helpful, and the area is convenient for walking to restaurants. Easy, cheap parking nearby. Still not sure I would stay again though based on our quality of sleep.
Vince is the absolute best. This was my second stay, and it was just great as the first. Quite, safe, clean and top notch staff make The Linden the best hotel in Richmond, hands down.
Unique Stay
Stayed for one night. Unique place to stay, made it fun, not a typical hotel chain stay.
Wonderful historic property!!
We had a great visit during a wedding weekend. Very comfortable and convenient to downtown.
Best in Richmond
Favorite hotel in Richmond. Get a room on the 2nd floor. Better ambience and comfort than the Jefferson for a better price
Nice and great location
Very nice stay and lovely historical setting in the room .
Great room, convenient location.
Lovely historic property with comfortable rooms, helpful staff and in a convenient location in downtown Richmond. We would definitely stay here again!
We will definitely return when it is warmer so we can enjoy the outdoor courtyard. Also the staff (LaMont & Jay) was very helpful and accommodating. The room was comfy and cozy and we loved the pillows. They get an extra BRAVO as the city of Richmond just endured a water issue due to a recent snow storm. Lastly the convenience to local Restaurants within walking distance was a perk.
Beautiful spot
Loved our stay here, definitely would again!
Such a nice classic vibe. Very good price for a suite that spacious and pretty.
Tuxedo Cat
Great location and the facility is clean. I love the house cat that is on site.
Great experience, we really enjoyed the “old” feel of the hotel and will be staying again. Very clean and staff was great!
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here - it felt like a welcoming, enchanting home base for my explorations of Richmond, conveniently located near public transportation. The facilities were beautiful and clean. The employees at the front desk, particularly Jay, were extremely welcoming. Miss Annabelle the cat was the cherry on top of my whole trip. This place has so much gorgeous atmosphere! I would love to come back here again!
Fine
Historic charm
Great location and very comfy bed, best sleep in an hotel room in a while for sure. Nice big room with space to move around. Way bigger than a typical hotel room especially at price point. The tie in to Edgar Allen Poe is nice, snuck in one short story sitting in the room and my daughter loved seeing Annabelle the cat during our stay. If you like historic charm and short walk to restaurants give it a shot. Little longer walk to Capitol but still not bad, you could make due without a car if wanted.
Amazing! Loved the whole experience
The hotel had the most delightful cat that needs her own Instagram page!
This was a beautiful old hotel and I would definitely stay there again.
Meh. The room was bland, bed was uncomfortable, and room-to-room noise was really loud. Would not stay here again.
Good location but noisy
We went to the Inn in hopes of getting a room on site so the business could keep more of the funds without the middleman companies taking a chunk out, but we were told the only rooms they have are more expensive rooms left, so we had to make a reservation online anyway. The room we got was on the first floor garden view room with no windows but to the main hallways that was too bright at night. Our second floor neighbors had three children running around and a baby crying all evening. There is no sound insulation. The Inn does not serve any food but the location is conveniently located to nearby restaurants.
I recommend this little gem of a place!
Comfortable, historic place with good service. Nice change from “chain hotels.” Personalized, friendly stay.
Stayed here for business trip. I enjoy the historic nature of the property
The Inn is in an historic building that has been renovated. It is quirky with a beautiful courtyard in the middle. Our room looked out into the courtyard.
Home-away-from-home for the holidays
This is the second time we have stayed at the historic, charming and quirky Linden Row Inn while visiting our daughter in Richmond. Walking distance to so many downtown attractions and eateries, nearby inexpensive parking, friendly staff, comfortable beds, spotless room, pretty courtyard, we hated to leave!
Very nice property - close to everything plus the Jefferson - highly recommend
Comfortable
Had a really nice stay; lovely room, very comfortable bed and pillows. Staff were kind and helpful. Walkable to shops and dining. Really enjoyed the history of the Lindon Row Inn.
Great historic building. Friendly staff. Comfortable rooms. Easy walking distance to the VA Capitol, restaurants, and Dominion Energy Center.
We loved the convenient location and the historical character of the structure. The room was very clean, the bed very comfortable. But the general condition of the interior was a bit worn. Could use a bit of a refresh, thus 4 stars rather than 5.
Such an authentic Richmond Inn! It was very pleasant to stay somewhere so warm and welcoming!
Great visit
Convenient location (and love the cat, Anabelle) Parking in nearby garage took some time this visit
In the heart of the city. Very walkable. Bed was very comfortable. Lots of pillows.
Not what we expected
Rooms were spacious, bed and mattress felt dated. Rooms had not been updated in a long time. Weird drop down ceilings in bathroom. The locks on the doors were suspicious, as they used old style hard keys. It appeared a little dirty. It was not with the money and would not stay here again. The best part of the hotel was the chill house cat in the lobby.
Richmond Stay
The location of the hotel was great, convenient to downtown, our room was good, comfy bed, two issues-our toilet did not flus however maintenance came within 5 minutes to fix it and our phone did not work in the room. No hot water in the morning for showers only luke warm on a very chilly morning.
Nice historical property with friendly staff.
Lovely, quiet, well located Inn
A beautiful historic inn with welcoming desk staff (David) eager to help and provide local recommendations. Very pleasant lobby sitting area and great spacious suite accommodations.
We loved the old world charm and elegance, but with modern bed and bath fixtures.
Great Hotel
I love older buildings with character and this was just that. Super friendly staff. Highly recommend.
European Charm in central Richmond.
Interesting boutique hotel.. cute and quirky. Beds were extremely comfortable and so was the linen. Hotel is older, looks to have been restored multiple times. It has a very unique layout as well. Still uses physical keys to get jnto your room. Fixtures were a tad old and some looked to need a little attention too. But overall everything worked and and was clean. Reminded me of some of the cute older European Hotels I have been too. Staff was freindly and check in was easy.
Linden Row is a hidden gem! Boutique feel without a boutique price. Absolutely adorable!
Great place for friends to meet
This is the second time I have stayed here. The rooms are comfortable, clean and fabulous. Great place for friends to meet
The inn itself has its own character. Historic building and decorations, yet the old smell and small bathroom are in the package. Staffs are extremely friendly and helpful. Public parking is right on the corner. It's walkable to State Capitol. We are satisfied with the hotel but disappointed at what the area offers. There's no available nice breakfast places open early. There's not many dining options. Streets are dirty and smell terrible. You won't feel safe to walk around late at night or early in the morning.
Charming
Unique building and layout. Very relaxing
We have stayed at this Inn three times now. Just last night we stayed there because we had an early flight from RIC (and btw it took us 13 minutes to get there at 6:00 am.) We hate the park and ride hotels in Sandston because the Linden is so comfy in ways they are not. Staff ever friendly and helpful.
Always a wonderful stay in the heart of downtown Richmond. Spacious rooms & the staff is so friendly & helpful
Vintage hotel with a property with an interesting history. Clean, comfortable, and quiet. Good if you like historic properties.
Nice and quiet
Nice Hotel
Garden Room is on the smaller size. Recommend a room in the main house. It is clean but a historic hotel with lots of character and a unique set up. Great location. Cottage style decor makes it homey.
What a treasure to find this charming inn. Well maintained. Helpful staff. on-site restaurant, Especially liked the cozy parlor on the main floor. I was able to sit there and read after my roommate went to sleep.
The hotel is in a lovely and historic area of Richmond, and was quiet and very comfortable. All the staff were pleasant and helpful, particularly in directing me to parking options. I hope to have a chance to stay here again!
My room was very close to another room and I could hear snoring, talking and all the sounds of the neighboring room.
Very comfortable room and nice staff
Like home away from home. The staff were absolutely SUPERB - VERY special care. We had a booking misunderstanding over our senior 11-lb. dog, necessitating a room switch. Jenique and Nelson checked on little old Henry while we were out (cool enough to leave him comfortably in the car). Their restaurant "Parterre" was open primarily weekends, so we did not partake, but menu looked special. It was a quick walk to Perly's fabulous Jewish fare and other restaurants ranging from thick sandwiches to pricey, delicious seafood. FRIENDLIEST people I have ever encountered are in Richmond; strangers offer greetings! The ART district is a short, safe walk from the hotel - museums, galleries, restaurants; so much to visit. The facility is historic, and, in all honesty, the premises show some age, especially the lounge. However, main-house rooms are high-ceilinged and lovely, with THE most comfortable beds, and bath facilities are thoroughly modern and spotless. The inner garden courtyard is soothing for an evening bottle of wine. Very quiet; the many guests we saw were very respectable. Also, A HUGE PLUS is that the bus system is clean, comprehensive and FREE. I greatly prefer this homey accommodation over the nearby impersonal Hilton, Marriott, and others. Staff made this a return-to-again-and-again location. Both the feeling of the historic building and the extraordinary warmth of all staff left us sad to leave.
As always, the Linden Row is a great place with helpful staff and a very nice facility in the heart of Richmond. Stayed here many times now and always enjoy it!
Lovely, quaint, historic inn.... Exactly what i wanted, NOT a big chain replica... Janique (Front Desk) was the BEST in recommening Parking options, and Dining options. All very Walkable, and Perfectly matched to what i was seeking!! KUDOS Janique!!
Charming hotel - perfect for small wedding
We were guests at a wedding at this hotel. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. It is a very old hotel but kept in good condition. I imagine if the walls could talk😉. The wedding was held in the patio and it was a perfect setting. The restaurant and bar were convenient to patio for other days.
An old beautiful institution in desperate need of renovations, attention to cleanliness in rooms and common areas and helpful, polite mature staff. The cleaning staff was very nice - front desk needs help
Great location
The Linden Inn was a great choice for our stay. Lots of history on the property and a great location. The bed was super comfortable!
I loved the history of the building and the collection of Edgar Allen Poe’s writings in each of the rooms.
Very unique building, history and decor outstanding.
Great little gem in downtown Richmond. Easy walkable access to great restaurants and the River Walk along the James River!
Tv broken and coffee machine didn't work
Love this historic property in the heart of downtown Richmond!! It’s full of charm and hospitality.
Property was nice, cute set-up with a courtyard, fountains, greenery, etc. Very nice lobby area. Room was just "fine," but very fairly priced.
Old world charm and spacious suite.
The building is beautiful and rustic maybe a pressure wash on the siding would make it even more appealing

Beautiful garden space, friendly staff Annabelle the hotel cat was especially friendly
