This property is beautiful with a great location. But with no restaurant, you can’t even get drinking water. There is no “pantry” for basic sundries, and there’s no bottled water in the rooms. There were no cups for the coffee in our room. Our TV didn’t work, and after waiting in line forever at the front desk to get help with it, I finally gave up and just went to bed. There was just a general failure to pay attention to details and the staff did not care at all.
Perfect location! We were able to get family booked here for graduation. The staff was warm and welcoming.
Love this place.
I’ve been coming here for 25 years. Great staff, love the decor, grounds are great. Central location.
This hotel breathes history, but they managed to keep the history part and have all needed creature comforts. Early check in was appreciated, the staff is lovely, would do it again!
TV didn't work. Husband bumbed
Nice location and comfortable and quiet room with restaurants nearby
the parlor was wonderful
I really liked our parlor suite. It was large and airy, and we enjoyed the historic nature of the property. I chose it because it took us back to another century, and we were not disappointed. Also, we loved Annabelle!
Linden Rowwas shabby, but not chic.
A charming hotel with beautiful antique furniture. The historic property sometimes shows its age, but it had lovely garden areas between the buildings. The staff was terrific! While the hotel didn’t serve food, we walked to a nice restaurant for breakfast (Lift). Parking was in a multi-story lot on the next block, $7 for 24 hours, stairs only.
Loved the historic property with modern amenities. Hotel cat was a fun treat. Staff was wonderful.
courteous and warm staff. Impeccable customer service!
The room we stayed in was very warm and the temperature was controlled and we could not set it any cooler than 70 so it made for a very uncomfortable experience.
Beautiful hotel, outside gardens and walking access to food places.
Great stay, walkable to the Altria theater
Have stayed here for years! Different from everyday hotels. Convenient, great staff.
The front desk appears more interested in browsing the web on their cellphone. It's unclear if that person is receiving any compensation or is just in an unpaid summer role. The indoor swimming pool at the YMCA is still under construction and will remain closed until the summer months..
Historic Gem
It was a beautiful historic hotel with a spacious clean room. The only negative was that the A/C system couldn’t keep up so it would stay quite warm. I am not sure if this was an individual room issue, or for the hotel entirely. Otherwise, the staff was wonderful and inviting including Annabell the lobby cat.
A grand Richmond row house hotel.
Quaint historic inn. Lots of charm and great staff.
Not a typical kind of hotel…lots of character and charm…the staff was outstanding…
Cool place
We love the historic quaintness of this hotel Stay here every time we are driving past or near Richmond, VA And, the front desk staff is always attentive and helpful...
We have stayed at Linden Rowe almost annually for the past 20 years. And while we know there have been multiple changes over that period, we always come back! Thank you especially to the young lady at the front desk: we had requested room 133 as we always stay in that room, and upon learning it was not available due to a wedding, I mentioned it must be good luck, bc our 43rd anniversary was the same day (4/15). She upgraded us to the EA Poe suite and gave us a small gift of chocolates! Way to go Linden Rowe !!
Great historic Inn
Really nice hotel! Front of house staff was great and so helpful. They even have a resident cat-manager who was a real attention getter! Great spot!
Lovely historic inn. Needs a little TLC. Very nice concierge.
Nice hotel, spacious room
Stayed 1 night in the main house; 2 double beds. Room was very large and spacious; bathroom was huge. Close to lots of restaurants and walkable. Easy parking for the car. Really no complaints. The place had character which was nice :)
Great place to stay. Very comfortable and a cool vibe with the Poe nuances.
We had an enjoyable stay. No dining in the inn but coffee in the lobby in the morning. Lots to see in the area if you’re prepared to walk! Some areas a bit dicey.
A really cool boutique hotel. The courtyard was relaxing and beautiful. The rooms are a little tight and old, but charming. The area is walkable but felt a little sketch in some places.
Charming spot with spacious rooms and beautiful courtyard.
Charming, historical, quirky, comfy
Linden Row Inn was very charming and historical.
Best Room Ever
Check in fantastic Room fantastic Friendliest person at check in Everything was great the bed , the room, the location, even the towels
Went for the aesthetics stayed for the anabelle
A great hotel in a great location. So many great dining and coffee options within walking distance. All the staff members I encountered were friendly and professional. I loved my weekend getaway and will definitely be coming back next time I’m in Richmond!
Downtown Charm
Lovely one night stay in Richmond. The hotel is charming and conveniently located. Parking is a bit of a challenge. Perly's around the corner is a great spot for breakfast
clean room, lovely service
Historic inn
Cute historic inn. Walkable to many restaurants.
Such a cute and cozy place
Wonderful ambiance and location.
Loved this property. Very well maintained and spotless. Staff great. Everything was easy. And the space is beautiful
The history of the building!!
I've enjoyed the atmosphere of this historical inn. Parking garage behind the facility made it kore convenient and was abpe to walk to our destinations such as the Greater Richmond Convention Center.
Can’t beat the price
Really fun place to stay in historic area. Everything was comfortable and functional. Really a great location with plenty of restaurants and history within walking distance. Cons: - seemed like some allergens in the air. Nothing worse than a little stuffy and a cough. Weird because I’m usually not sensitive. - some construction noises (sawing and hammering) one weekend mornig right around 8am. Overall, I’d have no hesitation staying there again.
My second time staying here and absolute love it. The only thing I feel they can improve on is the WiFi.
Historic inn
Nice staff at the front desk. Charming property. Parking cost $7 at a lot a block away.
It was good. I recommend.
The room was cozy and perfect for what we needed (mini fridge, good sleep, the right amount of space for our stuff) but seemed run down (bed skirt, carpet, all furniture) and could use a deep clean (walls, floors, switch plates, doors, bathroom). It’s in a great part of town, staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking on the street was free and easy.
Great spot!
What a fun hotel! We stayed in a room with a garden view. While there isn't parking at the hotel, I was surprised that the lot a block away was only $7 a day. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The resident cat, Annabelle, was a fun addition to an already cool vibe. My only complaint is the alarm in the room went off at 6:55am, and we heard other alarms going off too. The staff was very apologetic but on vacation it's no fun to be woken up so early and unexpectedly.
Great place! I loved it!
This property is very interesting for its history, but is has no dining, no snack bar, the toilet in the bathroom was rocking, and the single old vending machine they had on site was almost empty of anything to drink. All sound of any doors closing reverberates through the corridors. Again very cool for history buffs, but it wasn’t what we expected in terms of a pleasurable hotel stay. The saving grace of this place was the staff and how knowledgeable they are of the area and how nice they are.
Beautiful garden space, friendly staff Annabelle the hotel cat was especially friendly
It is a charming place, clean, quiet with an added bonus of a beautiful garden. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay, I wish we could stay longer. I would suggest putting a chair in the room and changing parking description, it was misleading. But these are minor, didn't take away anything from the stay. When we are in Richmond again we will definitely stay in Linden Row.
Lovely place and very friendly staff.
The property was historic, unique, and full of character.
Historic, clean, comfortable, unique!
The Linden Row Inn is a historic hotel with lots of charm. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was cleaned as expected but we were disappointed to not have enough wash cloths and towels provided. Otherwise our short stay was comfortable. It should be noted that there is a hotel cat who lives at the hotel and roams the first floor. She’s adorable and sweet but I do know others who are fearful of cats and would be very upset to have a cat cross their path without warning. The presence of the cat should be listed in the hotel description on Expedia and on the front page of their website.
Hotel Condition
The property is very dated e.g., building, furniture, drapes, carpet, cleanliness of the bathroom, and paint chipping. On the other hand, the front desk staff were cordial and Annabelle the cat was loving.
Overall I would say my stay was fine. The value was good for the price I paid, and it got me very close to where I needed to be for the evening. The only thing I would mention is that my bathroom toilet in room 234 was running all night, so you may want to have that looked at.
Great stay!
This visit was great. Hotel staff very kind and knowledgeable! Comfortable beds, clean rooms and great location. There was the sweetest cat in the courtyard also…maybe a friend of Poe 😉
Historic property with walkable location, pleasant staff
Sweet Times in Richmond
We really enjoyed our night at the Linden Row Inn, from the kind service to the beautiful room to Annabelle the cat (she does not enter guest quarters). The series of buildings that constitute the inn are historic and well maintained, with high ceilings (an unusual pleasure in comparison with the low ceilinged rooms that come with most hotels) and a series of porches with rocking chairs. We were very charmed and would certainly stay again the next time we're in town.
It was our first time staying at Linden Row. What a charming place. The staff is so friendly, the area is very walkable, lots to see and do.
Staying at the Linden
It was an amazing experience. Great service and great location.
Nice atmosphere, perfect downtown location. Definitely recommend
This historic property fits perfectly into the neighborhood. The rooms are large and tastefully furnished. Easy check in and out. Street parking usually available and walking to nearby restaurants is safe. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else
A classic , charming old inn. Don’t stay if you want plastic newness or frivolous amenities. If you seek old world charm and lovely old buildings, this is the place for you. Very accessible to downtown as well.
Charming spot
Love this charming hotel. Friendly, efficient staff enhance the experience, but the team won is the location, walking distance to sins of the best restaurants in old downtown Richmond.
Unique, quaint setting
This historic hotel is just lovely. Its restaurant wasn’t open so I gave it a 4 in two spots but it’ll reopen in spring. I look forward to going back soon
All good
I'll be back!
The service was amazing, and the hotel is so charming! I stayed in one of the garden rooms and loved walking through the courtyard to get there. I was greeted by the Inn's cat, Annabelle, who kindly escorted me to my room. My only suggestion for improvement is a station to refill reusable waterbottles. I'll certainly be staying here again the next time I'm in Richmond!
Out of towners
The hair dryer didn’t work and tried different outlets. Hanging off the wall wouldn’t go back into wall case. Otherwise a really nice stay.
Creepy and Rundown--I loved it!
The staff is outstanding! Warm and friendly. The place has character. Because it is a historic property, I'm willing to overlook a lot of the drawbacks, but people considering it should be aware there are many. I was given a second floor room. The stairs were uneven and the layout is somewhat confusing. My room was about average in terms of cleanliness. Shelves were coming loose from the wall. The plumbing was not in great shape. Water pressure was very low. Staff acknowledged that there was a water crisis that had not yet been resolved. It wasn't there fault. As with many 19th century properties, wiring was an afterthought. Wi-fi was terrible--slow, weak signal, constant outages. Furnishings were a bit shabby and the Edgar Allan Poe theme was a bit over-the-top in places. The restaurant was closed. Despite all the drawbacks, I thought the place had character and would recommend it. The place was comfortable and I felt very much at home there.
Great location and friendly staff. Parking can be an issue.
Don't even think about staying here
This place should be shuttered. Poor conditions throughout. Zero amenities
The hotel was beautiful! It’s old, so there are things that make it less convenient. The walls are thin/lack insulation so we could hear our neighbors. You get a key and not a fancy card to enter the room. For my wife, the best part was the cat in the lobby.
Room was clean and beds extremely comfortable. Accessories (refrigerator and coffee maker) were a plus. Parking can be challenging, but was able to find some.
The front desk clerks (AM & PM) were delightful, professional, & caring. Helpful & knowledgeable about local area. Room was spotless & beautiful
The property has it's charm, but there are definite signs of wear & tear. Elevator buttons missing and elevator door has trouble opening.
the Inn is super conveniently located for those visiting and/or doing business with the Virginia government as the capitol is only a 15-minute walk away. During the General Assembly session, there is a shuttle available for guests.
The property is charming, as is the kitty cat hostess, but the room left a little to be desired. The mattress desperately needs to be replaced. We could feel every spring poking us. Also had to turn off the loud mini fridge in order to sleep. Front desk was friendly and helpful, and the area is convenient for walking to restaurants. Easy, cheap parking nearby. Still not sure I would stay again though based on our quality of sleep.
Vince is the absolute best. This was my second stay, and it was just great as the first. Quite, safe, clean and top notch staff make The Linden the best hotel in Richmond, hands down.
Unique Stay
Stayed for one night. Unique place to stay, made it fun, not a typical hotel chain stay.
Wonderful historic property!!
We had a great visit during a wedding weekend. Very comfortable and convenient to downtown.
Best in Richmond
Favorite hotel in Richmond. Get a room on the 2nd floor. Better ambience and comfort than the Jefferson for a better price
Nice and great location
Very nice stay and lovely historical setting in the room .
Great room, convenient location.
Lovely historic property with comfortable rooms, helpful staff and in a convenient location in downtown Richmond. We would definitely stay here again!
We will definitely return when it is warmer so we can enjoy the outdoor courtyard. Also the staff (LaMont & Jay) was very helpful and accommodating. The room was comfy and cozy and we loved the pillows. They get an extra BRAVO as the city of Richmond just endured a water issue due to a recent snow storm. Lastly the convenience to local Restaurants within walking distance was a perk.
Beautiful spot
Loved our stay here, definitely would again!
Such a nice classic vibe. Very good price for a suite that spacious and pretty.
Tuxedo Cat
Great location and the facility is clean. I love the house cat that is on site.
Great experience, we really enjoyed the “old” feel of the hotel and will be staying again. Very clean and staff was great!
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here - it felt like a welcoming, enchanting home base for my explorations of Richmond, conveniently located near public transportation. The facilities were beautiful and clean. The employees at the front desk, particularly Jay, were extremely welcoming. Miss Annabelle the cat was the cherry on top of my whole trip. This place has so much gorgeous atmosphere! I would love to come back here again!
Fine
Historic charm
Great location and very comfy bed, best sleep in an hotel room in a while for sure. Nice big room with space to move around. Way bigger than a typical hotel room especially at price point. The tie in to Edgar Allen Poe is nice, snuck in one short story sitting in the room and my daughter loved seeing Annabelle the cat during our stay. If you like historic charm and short walk to restaurants give it a shot. Little longer walk to Capitol but still not bad, you could make due without a car if wanted.

moldy and dirty, with molded panties on couch, mold inside drawer next to bed, molded hershey kiss on chair, missing pillowcase, dirty floors, and a nee conevnient way to tip the cleaning crew nicely displayed. yeah, no thanks.
