I have stayed in many, many hostels - including 100+ bunk rooms on the Camino de Santiago. I have never been somewhere as bad as this. There is quite a problem with the air at this hostel. At check in I was given a room with an intolerable smell, and all they could do was move me to another room that had the same problem. This hostel is far too cramped, and there is no airflow. They refused any attempt to obtain a refund and relocate to acceptable lodging. The staff is friendly, but the ownership needs to remove about half the bunks if they want these incredibly small and stale rooms to remain inhabitable. Truly a miserable experience.

Travellerstaff were excellent and extremely helpful and all spoke english really well. rooms were well cleaned and looked nice. the hostel is right next to a tram stop so you can get anywhere in the city pretty easily. hostel is 5 minute walk from place de la comedie which has great restaurants and there are some convenience shops nearby for snacks and drinks. rooms were a bit cramped for 6 person dorms and no air conditioning, only a small electric fan, so it can get extremely hot. bunk beds were wooden boxes just under 2 metres length so if you are tall it will be cramped. on weekends the club next to the hostel and the people can get really loud so it was hard to fall asleep after 11:45pm.

TravellerLovely hostel with friendly staff, clean and modern. At 5'9/175cm I did feel the bunks were a little short, as either my head or feet were constantly hitting off one side, so anyone over 6' might find this a bit annoying.

Auberge de jeunesse où l'occupation du dortoir est optimisée au maximum ! Les lits sont empilés les uns sur les autres, on dort confiné dans une boite en bois. Une expérience dont aimerait bien se passer. Le nombre de personnes dans la chambre obligeant à dormir la fenêtre ouverte on se retrouve à 7h00 du matin à profiter du marteau piqueur ou bien de la sortie de la boîte de nuit à 5h30 du matin.
TravellerLe Maje semble vraiment top! Super déco, très propre et bonne ambiance. Les personnes à l’accueil sont très sympathiques aussi mais juste : ne prenez pas la chambre du rez de chaussée !! elle est très mal insonorisée et on a l’impression que l’on dort dans le hall d’entrée.

La réceptionniste a fait trop d'erreurs lors de check-in et n'était pas accueillant. l'ambiance de le maje n'est pas accueillante. il n'y a pas de tours, il n'y a pas d'endroit où les autres peuvent interagir les uns avec les autres. ça ne ressemble pas à une hostel. on se croirait dans un hôtel exigu et isolé

I think this hostel is really nice! It wasn’t very social while I was there, but the rooms were clean, probably the cleanest shower I’ve seen in a hostel and the kitchen area is quite nice! Because it is in the basement it does get really really cold down there so it’s not a usable space in January, however I can see the potential for summer! It would be nice if there were more common areas that had heat and seating for people to visit as the rooms don’t have anywhere to sit in them! Very close to the train station and lots of food/bars/shopping. Activities like a walking tour would have been nice!
