This is a wonderful and clean boutique hotel. The last mile and a half drive to the property is a narrow, winding and steep road, but the drive is well worth it. The view from the rooms is spectacular looking out onto the ocean and amazing sunsets. The staff made our stay. The waiters were very friendly and gave us information about the area and wildlife. We saw toucans and a sloth on the property. Our waiter, Giovani, shared a video of a sloth climbing a tree and I view it now to make me happy. The dining area was conducive to talking with other guests. They have a very nice yoga platform and readily provided mats. The staff responded to all of our requests promptly and happily. We will stay at Lapazul again if we visit Costa Rica.
A wonderful location in the forest, with wildlife all around. Beautiful views to the ocean. Very friendly staff. Good meals.
Lapazul and its staff are amazing in all possible ways. It's a small boutique hotel on top of a mountain: the view is STUNNING, we saw more animals during breakfast than in parks we had visited previously. George is incredible: he did a tour with us each morning to show us where the slot was hiding, where the frogs were... He is very friendly, helpful but also respects your privacy. You come to this hotel to relax, to destress, and enjoy nature around you. We recommend staying at least 3 days! As in other comments, it's steep uphill and you need a 4*4: we had a rental Suzuki that you could easily switch from regular to 4*4. We had no issues at all, and it was very rewarding to arrive then at this little paradise. The hotel takes a personal approach. We met the owner, the manager who just came around for a short chat to make sure we were having a great experience. On the last day, we had a minor panic, as we had to return to the airport for which you normally need about 3.5 hours. Suddenly, Google maps switched to almost 5 hours due to a road closure. The team helped us and called traffic police. By the time we were packed and ready to rush, the manager was able to tell us the road closure would be lifted asap and we should take that shorter road anyway. We did and easily made it in time to the airport! This is a hotel we will be highly recommending to friends and co-workers. If we visit Costa Rica again, we will definitely plan a stay at Lapazul.
Gorgeous and clean
One of a kind
We spent 2 nights at Lapazul and wish we had spent a couple more! This hotel is a unique paradise, offering incredibly stunning views, excellent service, and delectable food- truly one of a kind. Nestled on top of a hill, it’s a relatively new boutique hotel with fewer than a dozen rooms and 2 infinity pools. The hotel is conveniently located near beautiful beaches, Manuel Antonio Park, and the charming town of Dominical. Accessing the hotel requires a 4x4 or AWD due to the mountainous terrain, but the journey is absolutely worthwhile. It’s the staff at Lapazul that take your experience to the next level. Adriana had an infectious smile and showed us around the property. She also looked into a horse riding tour for us, but we didn’t end up taking one because we wanted to spend more time on the beautiful property. George and Giovanni took great care of us when it came to food and drinks. George made sure we had a packed breakfast ready to go for an early morning excursion. Gio made excellent cocktails and wine recommendations. We thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with them that allowed us to learn more about the property and the local Costa Rican culture. We will be promoting this unique property within our friend circle and will be back!
Our stay at the Lapazul Hotel was beyond amazing! We spent the first half of our trip in other towns and hotels, and when we got to Lapazul, we were filled with joy. It was the luxury of a Four Seasons with a family atmosphere, one in which you received individual attention and care, all at a reasonable price. Jorge (George) and Geovanny absolutely made our stay! They took care of every little detail — they helped arrange our sightseeing tours and gave us local recommendations for surfing lessons and quiet beaches, served us meals outside of kitchen hours to accommodate our schedules (…or lack thereof!), and helped us with the little things that came up (printing something out, accessing medicine, etc). They were super engaged through our trip and we were captivated by conversations about their travels, their daily life in Costa Rica, their discussion of Central/South American history, and even their help figuring out if our roofing contract back home was fairly priced (because of one of their backgrounds for 20 years in the roofing business!). We left in a hurry and when they let us know that we forgot one of our electronic devices in the room, they offered to drive 20 minutes down the hill to bring it to us themselves. and consistently, we found that we were able to contact the hotel within a minute of Whatsapp messaging them. The attention to detail — unmatched!! And the view is just unreal. You definitely need a 4x4 to get up the hill, but the view is WORTH it!
Several amazing features: the staff was amazing. The views were breathtaking, the food delightful, the wildlife entertaining, the inifinity pool was refreshing.
I had high expectations, and the property and staff blew those expectations away. From arrival to departure, the staff made sure that we were taken care of in every way. The property views (pool, sunset, yoga deck) were incredible. The food was exceptional. I could not have asked for a better experience.
There are no words to describe Lapazul. It is the most stunning location. The staff and facilities are the best.
Lovely clean quiet lovely staff
FIND THIS HIDDEN GEM!
An absolute paradise in the jungle. I booked rooms for my team after a month of exhausting work. From start to finish I received personal service executed with a smile, even down to having champagne in the rooms on ice timed for their arrival with personalized handwritten notes of my message. Outstanding experience for all.
