Poorly mainained and room not cleaned

Poorly maintained. Torn sheets, broken tiles, water leaks including mushrooms growing out of wood. Room was not cleaned in 3 days, so ants everywhere.

Situation stratégique.

Gens très sympathiques à la réception. Ils sont très aidants pour les excursions à faire. Hôtel situé près de tout et le restaurant de l’hôtel est très bien ainsi que bon rapport qualité/prix.

Only location is great

This hotel is in a great area full of restaurants and small shops and walking distance to the beach. The staff are amazing. Friendly and helpful The breakfast is off the menu and is very good. Stayed 4 nights and would stay here again

Very nice hotel , older but big room and nice having a swimming pool. Also there is a great restaurant attached to hotel. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Find somewhere else near Sairee Beach

Simply put there are too many other options to consider on this island before you stay here. Location A+ ...and bathroom was very nice. I could list the negatives for days but I just recommend you stay elsewhere

Mixed opinion...

We arrived on evening ferry, and was pleasantly surprised the hotel had a pick up waiting with a "simple life" sign. We had not called ahead and there was only one other guy who also did not order the pick up. When we arrived (we booked standard double room), the room itself was clean but the bathroom had a strong sewage scent. We brought it to the attention of the front desk, and asked to change rooms. There were no more standard rooms aviailable, and they offered an upgrade, at our cost, which we refused. After threatening to book a different hotel, we were given the upgrade at no additional cost. Not once did the manager come to speak with us directly. The upgraded room was larger, but definitely showed signs of age and wear. The sewer smell in bathroom was less but still present. For the rest of our stay, the staff service itself was great. Front desk was very helpful giving directions and advice for exploring the island. When we left "do not disturb" sign on the door, the cleaning staff still left toiletries and bottled water on thr porch.We had to check out very early and they packed some bananas and water for us. Overall, despite the helpful staff and fantastic location, I would consider exploring other hotel options.

Nice budget property in a decent location. Front desk staff is very good. Housekeeping is sloppy on the details but gets its done. I would stay there again.

Spent two nights here. It was great. Nice location close to everything but quiet at night as it is back from the street. Helpful and really sweet front desk personnel.

Definitely recommend

Weather was poor whilst we were here so never got to use the pool. Breakfast was good and staff all very friendly and extremely helpful. Room was comfortable and we had balcony overlooking mountain.

The staff here were wonderful. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk to the beach, and close to tons of fun bars and restaurants. We had a wonderful stay here.

The staff was really nice and helful, the had a shuttle from the ferry to the hotel for free. the location is preety good and close to a lot of resturants.

Had a wonderful time staying here and very grateful for the staff who helped us check in and out very quickly! Only negative is breakfast could be better HOWEVER, the stay was worth every penny.

Modern, close to town & beach, excellent amenities

Quick and early check in by very friendly staff, room was very spacious, clean and modern with a nice view of the pool. Very close to both the main shopping area of Sairee and the beach itself. Hotel has many amenities, including spa, bar, restaurant, nice pool, and can just about organise or advise on anything else you might want to do on the island. Loved the place so much, extended my stay 3 times. Was great value given all the above.

Perfect for my needs

Very enjoyable stay over 16 nights. Close to centre and Sairee beach but set back, so quiet. Gorgeous pool. The cleaners work v hard and the room, grounds and pool v clean. Breakfast generally good but got a bit 'samey' Lots of cheap cafes near by though. Staff all v helpful and cheery. Only drawback - you will likely hear your neighbours TV or muffled chatting as walls thin and echoey concrete building and I was woken up every morning at 06.30 ish by furniture being dragged across the floor above or next to me. This noise continued well into mid morning. Probably the cleaners. The room deco is generally shabby even tho I had a boutique room. General repairs not completed, loose floor tiles but bed comfortable (firm) and clean, good quality linen change every other day. Pool towels and bottled water supplied daily.

Great location and spacious room

I loved the location so east to get to the beach but quiet enough to sleep peacefully. The superior room was huge and the bathroom was so nice. We didnt use the pool but loved the discountat the spa.

One of the best 3 star hotel in koh tao

I chose this hotel due to the reviews people left about staff and I was so glad that I did. The lady at reception is very friendly and helpful. A free pickup and drop off was provided from and to the pier. Anything you need all you have to do is ask and they are happy to help. They never pushed to buy tours or rent bikes through them and always gave us honest information. The bike rental place they recommended was very good too. It was olis motorbikes, near the pier. When we arrived they upgraded our room for free to a bigger one. It was very clean and spacious. Breakfast was included which was also nice. You could order the way you wanted your eggs and they would make it fresh. Decent size swimming pool. Very close to the restaurants and walking distance to sairee beach. Overall I'm glad I picked this hotel. One of the best 3 stars I've been in and will definitely stay there again. Highly recommended if you are on a budget but want a smooth and comfortable stay.

Great Hotel in Sairee Beach

Right in the centre of Sairee Beach so close to beach, bars & restaurants. Standard rooms near road so would go for boutique room. Great Thai massage available at hotel. Lovely pool. Helpful desk staff.

Super helpful friendly staff

Staff at the front desk made this stay exceptionally good. Super helpful with ferry schedules and good advice on which ferry's are more sea worthy than others......and there's big seas out there so it makes a difference if you get sick or not. Very helpful with scooter rentals, beaches and just all around friendliness... which is great when you don't know any of the Thai language. Good complimentary breakfast and restaurant attached to this hotel :)

Great location. Close to amenities.

not so great

The room was not very clean and there was a sewage smell near the side of the pool, although the pool itself seemed clean. The location was convenient to shops and restaurants and it was a short walk to the beach. Tha staff was very nice. The breakfast was not so good, food on the buffet was cold and the eggs wee definitely not cooked to order as they were cold as well. I would not return to this hotel.

In the middle of town but pretty quiet

Stayed here a few times now and always had a great experience. Clean rooms helpful staff and good facilities. The hotels in the middle of town and a few minutes walk to the beach but the pool area has been updated and is a really chilled out place

Looks nothing like the photos

The staff was beyond friendly and helpful. Rooms looked nothing like they do in the photos...most outdated bathroom/shower, with a door that looks like what you would have on the side of your house to enter your garage. Beds were comfortable Hotel grounds look like a giant swamp...could use some serious landscaping and better drainage in the walkway near the pool That aside, nice clean pool, great staff, great location. Overall a great 3 night stay, just dont trust the photos of the hotel, as it looks nothing like this.

Good location

Older outdated room. Nice pool, nice staff. Breakfast was pretty average. Main issue was our shower didn't work. Originally thought it was the island/Songkran having a shortage but spoke to some others staying there and their shower was fine. Asked the staff to look into it and nothing happened. So only 3 cold drips of a shower for our stay there. Otherwise it was fine to stay at, great location near good food and nightlife.

Nice staff and room but weird odors

I stayed in a superior room which in general was great, but you needed to walk down a dingy hallway to get to it, and the whole room/area smelled like urine. The smell faded over the next few days but it was a bit frustrating given the price. Other than that, huge shower, comfortable bed, and nice view from the balcony. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

This was a nice little place to stay. We hadn't booked anything before we arrived on the island and found this place which was more than sufficient. The staff were great and were always welcoming. We decided to say a little longer than initially planned and found that the room we were in had already been booked but the staff upgraded us to a better room for the same price. Very welcoming and in the main hub

great value, bit noisy but at the heart of Sairee action, the restaurant /bar's got the music a bit loud in the evening so it can be anoying if your room is close by, pool area is great, nice room...

Excelent facilities and staff

This is was definitely a highlight for me in kho tao.The staff was amazing, friendly and helped me with pretty much everything I needed, specially the lady at the front desk. The pool is nice and handy.I got a free upgrade and my room was huge, silent and nice. I enjoyed seating on my porch with a beer chilling in the evening before going out. Not the cheapest hotel but you get what you pay for! Go for it!

Mosquitos everywhere and breakfast is not nice. Staff are friendly.

The Wifi kept disconnecting and we had to keep signing in. Sometimes it didn't work. But otherwise good.

A bit dissapointing - overall okay

The staff was super nice and very helpful. Breakfast was fine. Great location! The room was a bit shady, towels and bedsheets were old and had holes and spots. Pillows and matress smelled strange.The resort itself was so so... Everything was okay but we were a bit dissapointed to be honest. We could have found something nicer for less money as there are many really nice hotels and resorts all over the island. Only big plus was really the staff and the location

Pleasant stay in central location with great staff

This hotel has all the basic things we required and was central to where we wanted to be. The staff were helpful & friendly and overall we had a good experience. Ultimately we only required a room to sleep in as we were scuba diving everyday, but it was much better than some of the other accommodation we had seen and heard about. It has reasonably good, free wifi and I would definitely recommend the massage parlour that is attached to the hotel. It is close to many restaurants and bars but relatively quiet given its close proximity to these. There is a lovely garden area that encloses a pool and although I could imagine that the pool would get busy at peak times, the beach is very close. All in all it was just what we wanted.

Best value on the island!

We arrived and were upgraded to a bigger poolside room for free....we came for scuba so we missed the free breakfast more than we made it ...but it was outstanding! ! Laundry service, pool, beach is close...we had booked the night ferry they kept out bags for hours. ..and offered us the use of the bathrooms, pool and shower until we left! Well done

You can get better for the price

Rooms are very small - no space to lay out gear. Take care with the garden view rooms as it is really a very small garden and the main view is of the bar which can be noisy - we were in a sea view room but even then you could hear the noise - and to make it worse we were woken at 3am one night with loads of shouting. Staff were friendly but there is scope to improve the rooms and other facilities.

Warm friendly staff

The staff at Koa Tao Simple Life Resort made my stay very comfortable and welcoming. As I was a student travelling alone they really made me feel safe. On my departure the reception helped to book my taxi & ferry off the island plus made arrangements for my onward journey to Bangkok. Koa Tao is a small island and is great to explore on foot, the treks offer amazing views.

Good hotel

This is a good hotel- good location and clean rooms. However, there needs some improvements with wifi as this wasn't great, the breakfast was poor and the sheets weren't changed the whole week we were there.

A great place to stay, would definitely recommend

Simple Life is a great hotel with friendly welcoming staff. Good prices and a buffet breakfast every morning, the location is amazing with just a short walk to the beach, bars and shops.

Nice quiet hotel near the Sairee beach

Simple LIfe exceeded my expectations. I requested a quiet room which I got towards the back on the 2nd floor. The room was clean and comfortable with a large balcony. I was worried that I would hear the night life but didn't. I slept like a baby. Very good location to Sairee beach to catch a long tail boat to Yang Nuan Island or other day excursions. Also near Big Blue Diving Resort if you are planning to dive there. Close to all amenities, Sairee Village etc. There's also a decent sized pool if you don't want to swim at the beach. The nearby spa/massage is quite good. Breakfast was included and was fantastic. I would recommend Simple Life. The price is very reasonable.

Cute Place

It was a fine stay, we got upgraded when we checked in due to no standard rooms available which was great! We wanted to extend our stay in the upgraded room, but we're told we'd have to switch back down to the standard room as the resort was empty (start of low season), so we switched resorts instead where we shopped around and got a place for a cheaper price, closer to the beach and a free upgrade. The pool at simple life is great, the wifi is terrible but it's in a great area and quiet in the back.

Say "No hot bread" if ordering takeaway breakfast

The hotel can provide takeaway breakfast box if we want to join early morning activities (e.g. diving). We can pick up the box in advance (at PM 9:30 of previous day). It contains sandwich (we can select ham, chicken, and tuna), cut-fruits and bottled water. Taste good :) However, they insert meats into HOT BREAD directly. It is good for immediate consuming, but not adequate for overnight preservation. I strongly recommend to select "No hot bread" option when you want to get the meal at previous night.

Right in the center of everything but room was still quiet. Very nice staff and I appreciated the pickup and dropoff service to the pier. Booked with breakfast (as I did for all accommodations in Thailand) but this was by far my least favorite. There are loads of other places to get a quick bite from that I wouldn't do the breakfast again.

Great stay in Koh Tao

Great hotel, said me parts a bit dated but the staff made up for this. They were fantastic, could do enough for you. Breakfast was great, buffet but also cooked to order as well. Location was good, plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. Beach good, but get on the long tails or scooter and fine others as well.

Bugs Crawling all Over the Bed

The hotel is in a great location, and looked nice from the outside. Unfortunately when we tried to relax after a long bus/ferry trip we noticed the bed was crawling with bugs and there were blood stains all over the sheets. We asked to change rooms, and the second room was much cleaner, but after seeing something like what we saw in the first room, I'd never stay here again.

Good location

The hotel was in a great location amongst all the shops and eateries and bars. One street back from the beach. So a very short stroll will land you on the beach. The staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and our room was very quiet, couldn't here any noise off the street, as it is set back a little from the street. The rooms are spacious, we had the delux room and there was plenty of space. By Koh Tao standard, I wouldn't pay anymore than around the $130 per night , so look for the deals!!!! When you leave Koh Tao and you are catching a flight out that day, I would allow plenty of time , as the ferry scan be running late.

very friendly, clean hotel in lush, quiet gardens!

Went with partner and stayed in the standard boutique, however when we got there they had upgraded us to deluxe boutique. Staff are super friendly and smiley, very helpful when organising trips/ taxis etc. Rooms are cleaned very well everyday, and have a powerful air con plus it seemed all rooms have a view of they beautiful gardens or hills of the island. Would definitely stay again. Breakfast included and it's all you can eat, and very good food. Pool area is nice and you only have to cross the road to the beach and shops. You are in the centre of everything but at night you can't hear the music or anything from outside. A little paradise. we booked snorkelling. Trip with them for 750 baht and was great.

Very quiet at night and close to all the action

Great place to stay if you want to be within easy walking distance of the beach and nightlife but still want to be able sleep. To get to the beach you walk through the beach front hotels'- right past people's rooms. At Simple life resort no one goes through the hotel except people staying there. So nice and peaceful at night and early morning. We had a superior room which was nice and big with a balcony. The swimming pool is nothing special but at least you don't have to share it with divers doing their training - like many other hotels. Simple life dive centre is somewhere else not near this hotel. Breakfast was very good especially if you like Asian food. They do lots of western options as well. We stayed for 8 days and can recommend this place. Make sure you get the breakfast included deal when you book.

It was ok! Only downside....the pool didn't get much sun, so not great if you are wanting to catch the Rays, there was only about 6 of the sun loungers that got the sun on them and you had to be up early to get one! The wifi wasn't great, kept having to reconnect to it! Other than that it was a pleasant stay in a good location.

Loved it!!

The ladies at the front desk make staying there so much fun! They are knowledgeable, speak very good English, and have amazing senses of humor. Really enjoyed every interaction. Pool was nice, with both shady and sunny side. It seems like it would be crazy noisy in the room, as it's right downtown sairee, but it's actually very peaceful.

Best place in Koh Tao

This hotel is definitely a must for anyone traveling to Koh Tao. Although not in the beach it is right in the middle of the heartbeat of town, exceptionally central and only about a 5-10 min walk to the beach. The service we received was unbelievable, anything we asked for or needed was given to us straight away. The ladies at reception were also the friendliest I have ever encountered! Rooms were comfortable and clean. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Great everything

We got upgraded to the boutique room and it was amazing! Great bathroom and had its own back room which housed a clothes line to dry clothes and was lockable. Very good location literally less than 5 mins to the water and all the nightlife and food. Would highly recommend

Good Enough

Simple Life Resort is basic accommodation. For a decent price you get your own room, AC and a pretty helpful staff. I ended up moving to the Simple Life Talay as I was doing a Dive Course and feel their other property is better - rooms are smaller but newer and feel cleaner. Overall, Simple Life Resort is a fine place to stay but not work more than 40$ a night.

Perfectly located resort

Overall it was a pleasant stay, the staff and especially the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The room was very neat, spacious and comfortable. However the bathroom did have an unpleasant smell, despite being clean. The location of the resort is ideal, close enough to the beach and Sairee town, but far enough away from the loud music played at some beach side cafés.

Very central location

The staff was great! I can't really say enough about how pleasant and kind they were to us. The free breakfast every morning was wonderful as well. It's a tropical area, so it was really hot and lots of bugs. But this has nothing to do with the hotel, it's just the area. If this is a deal breaker then, thailand might not be for you.

Fine for Koh Tao

Over all the service and quality is fine for Koh Tao standard, which is known to be rather pricy compared to elsewhere in Thailand. But found it strange the hotel only provide one way pick up from the pier and the guests have to pay for the drop off.

Extremely disappointed

The terrible smell, the barely edible food, the jack-hammering from 8am, and the unwillingness of the manager to meet and discuss our concerns (as apparently he doesn't speak English), was a great disappointment and left a lasting impression on us. We will never be back to this place.

Great hotel, lovely staff, away from the noise

The hotel is only 3 min walk from the beach, so there was no noise from the bars and restaurants. Reception staff exceptionally kind, rooms are massive, spa was wonderful and overall it was a very clean and nice place to relax. Only a less positive note for the restaurant, the breakfast was terrible, kind of western wannabe food, but all seem to be made of plastic. Restaurant staff not the kindest, just randomly pointing at people, laughing and talking about them in Thai. Many better options around. Excluding the restaurant this would have been a 5x experience. Just misses the mark

We stayed 3 nights between Koh Samui and Koh Phangan. We knew sairee beach was busy and asked for a quiet room which they gave us. It's perfect for all the hustle and bustle and night life. The room was great, but a slight smell of sewage in the bathroom. The staff fixed the flat battery on the safe immediately and also fixed the fridge door( which fell off when we put the water bottles in it). The evening meals were absolutely excellent and very good value for money. The breakfasts were ok. The door to room had a knack to unlocking it and after being shown on two occasions, my husband acquired the necessary skill. The pool was beautiful, the staff were great but overall the whole place needs a refurb particularly the bathroom especially for the money they charge.

Nice Place

I stayed here for a few nights as a single traveller and found it an enjoyable stay. My room was clean, spacious and comfortable. However, I would recommend improving the showers as their not very powerful. There was plenty of choice for breakfast too. The hotel itself is in a good location with plenty of nightlife and food places on your doorstop. The pool is nice but limited sun beds in the sun so get a spot early on. Overall, a great stay.

Nice hotel

Nice hotel, 3 minute walk to the beach, small pool doesn't get a massive amount of sun on it. Breakfast is terrible. Mon/Wed/Fri - all you can eat pizza! Very good. Cocktails are ok but slow.

Nice friendly hotel

I stayed for 7 nights and found the hotel was just what I was looking for. The hotel staff were extremely helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Simple pleasures

Originally booked a standard room, on arrival I found I had been upgraded to a standard boutique room. Really nice spacious room, air-con, free wifi, tv, fridge, enormous bed etc. The reception and cleaning staff were brilliant. Free breakfast was included; really nice, and plenty of choice even for a vegetatian like me. Would definitely recommend to friends and hope to stay there again when I next visit Koh Tao.

Decent hotel close to everything

Hotel is clean, friendly and has decent sized rooms with everything you would expect from a hotel of this standard. Pool area is nice and the restaurant/bar associated with the hotel serves decent food at good value. Five minutes walk to sairee beach. Would stay there again if returning to Koh Tao.

Simple, friendly and clean and perfect location

Stayed here for four nights. Very clean and quiet room, excellent air conditioning. Did not have breakfast as left very early every day. Friendly staff. Overall everything was fine and I would stay again. Very good price for what you get!

Needs updating

Hotel is in a great location - easy to access the beach and shops and bars. Rooms are old - need updating - shower only had hot water 1/3 days. We had a view of a building ste from our room! Reception staff were really friendly and booked our trips and ferries for us. Breakfast was POOR. We paid for breakfast in an alternative restaurant on our 2nd dayas our 1st exprience was so poor! It's not a buffet as you have to select from a set menu of 5 plates of food - all vary just by the eggs.

Their were four of us who stayed there for 4 nights and we all loved it. Beds good, staff good, location good, all good :)

Wonderful staff!

Room was clean and quiet. Staff went out if their way to accommodate our wishes. They helped us decide what to do and made all the arrangements, making sure we were done and back in time for our departing ferry. Our room would have had a prettier view closer to the pool. The "Gardens" need a few more years to develop!

Great staff, large and quiet room

We had a quick yet very pleasant stay in this hotel in January 2014. What stroke us the most was the staff who was really friendly and helpful. The room was pretty big and clean, has a safe and hot water. At night very quiet, even though the area can pretty chaotic at night. The hotel has a pretty nice swimming pool. The breakfast which is included is a large buffet, with american and european breakfast choice. Don't be late they stop serving at 10 sharp! The hotel is well situated five minute walk to the beach and close to lots of diving centers. We do recommend this place.

Laidback Island Lifestyle

Very nice room. Internet was fast, A/C strong, and hot water satisfactory. Pick up and drop off (free at specific times that line up with the high speed catamaran) was nice too. The hotel was a few minutes (tops) from the beach which we enjoyed because it meant the only traffic by our room was staff and other guests.

Clean comfortable and quiet. 2min walk to beach.

Me and my fiancé stayed here for 7 nights at the beginning of October and we loved it. The room was large with nice balcony, flat screen TV with mini bar and it was cleaned with fresh sheets everyday. Staff were friendly and helpful always greeted with a smile. Hotel is located in right in the middle of everything but not on top of it all. Perfect. I would definitely stay here again. :o)

Not a spot for romance. Good for families with kids. Right smack in town and a 2min stroll to Sairee beach. Good restaurant with happy hour specials and well priced yummy food. Condition of hotel is very clean but maybe a bit run down. No real views. Property overlooks a vacant lot and some tarps hanging. Great, friendly service. Pool over run with screaming kids.

Nice rooms and breakfast

Stayed in standard boutique room on 3rd floor. Very spacious and clean although sheets weren't changed whilst we were there. Free drinking water given and complimentary pick up and drop off at thong sala pier. On back of pick up truck with lots if passengers and luggage squeezed on. Lots to eat at breakfast. Reception Staff helpful. negatives were loud music blaring 1 night, no lift and a lot of steep stairs and building site right next to hotel. Would stay again though.
