Everything was ok. Very nice host. Good location, close to the airport
This family run inn is very pleasant and good value for money. It’s about 20-25 min walking to Malecon 2000. I say 20-25 as the traffic can easily slow down the walk! The room was clean and I got my laundry done at a very reasonable price, very quickly. The owner very kindly explained all the best spots on a map to me, helped getting taxis etc and was very helpful, as I don’t speak Spanish. The immediate neighbourhood can feel a little deserted after a while in the eve and there isn’t much in terms of shops, restaurants etc. I was alone so was back about 8pm or so. Breakfast was basic, and hot water at times temperamental, but all in all I’m happy with the service.
It was a simple but comfortable place to stay.
It was small but close to everything you need to see and do in Guayaquil. It's comfortable and functional bed and breakfast. The staff are friendly and helpful.
Our go to in Guayaquil when enroute.
We stay here 1-2 times per year usually just for a night but up to 3 nights once. It is clean, very affordable, within walking distance of parks, churches, and the malecons along the river. Simple but good breakfast. This is no frills but is to inexpensive to expect frills. When you find something that works, why change?
Prejudice and general discomfort
The owner was rude and rather intrusive about me having my girlfriend star for the night. They may not want the hotel to be seen as a flop house but at the same time, such rudeness and intrusiveness will lose them more than one customer. If your partner is a local to Guayaquil, do yourself a favor and find another place to stay.
Would return.
Needed an inexpensive, clean, safe room for the night. Was meeting a friend at the airport the next day. Great wifi and hot water not to mention service. Would return
Clean tidy hotel
Very nice clean hotel close to main streets. Management very pleasant and helpful wifi did not work in our room but was very good in the dining area.
this is a wonderful place. clean and spacious. the gentleman running the establishment is very kind and helpful.
Friendly and affordable.
Nice and friendly staff, clean room, the area around is being regenerated but seems a bit rough. We didn't feel in danger at all, the rougher streets are a few blocks away. Would recommend as a place to stay if you're looking for a friendly and affordable hotel though it seems like more of a B&B.
If the bed was better I would give 3 1/2 stars
The room was good and the owner helpful. The only issue my wife and I had is that the mattress was soft and not comfortable. I have a back problem and it took me a half an hour after I got out of bed to walk normal. Breakfast was two rolls, juice, and coffee. I would have enjoyed an egg.
they are wonderful people who care about others
it was nice they have hospitality and they care about people.I would stay there again and recommend the hotel it is a good place to stay.Ask them what you need and they will go out of there way to help you the best they can.
would stay there again
it was nice
Simple, but just fine
I was only in hotel Jeshua for a layover between transit. As a solo female traveller, I did not want to be in the city of Guayaquil. The man at the hotel was very nice, the hotel was clean, and that's honestly all I cared about.
$28 room, air conditioning, clean & helpful owner.
I needed a room overnight until my flight the next day. The owner was very gracious and helpful. This hostal was very reasonably priced with air conditioning and a light breakfast. Owner let me use the computer and helped with luggage and calling a taxi. I'd stay here again.
I'd definitely stay here again! and again!
Kind and helpful owners, wonderful continental breakfast, quiet, clean. I wish 2 bottles of water had been available in the room upon our arrival.
For short visit the hotel is OK, clean and nice
In general it is OK for short visit. Staff nice and always ready to help you
Close handy to to town airport etc
WAS A OK Stay but when asked if could book room on return leg of journey the proprietor said yes and after seeing ticket details it was no problem in booking room ,,,,,,, PROBLEM ON RETURN SORRY YOU GOT NO BOOKING so can not take the Man at his word or what he writes down
Nice & Clean
This hostel is very clean about 15 minutes from the airport. Louis was very nice our flight was delayed so we diid not get in until 3am in the morning we let Louis know via email and he was there to let us in at 3am.
Friendly atmosphere
The experience was great and staff was very helpful would definitely go there again.
one night airport Stay
Stayed one night simply to sleep before driving up the coast . Found it well located in city and priced well for what it offered. Simple breakfast of a sweet roll, butter, jam ,juice and coffee was sufficient to get us on our way.
Good for a short stay
Positive experience. Only problem was the shower, its itty bitty. Other than that, no problems. WIFI good, AC worked well, and bed was semi comfy. Best thing is my wife dropped her Passport in the cab on the way there. The cabbie returned at 2 am and woke up the owner to give him our passport. This was above my expectations. Will stay there again.
Good cheap place for an overnight
I was traveling through Guayaquil and only looking for a room for overnight. Checking in was tricky because the reservations were written on a notepad rather than saved on a computer. There was some confusion if I even had a reservation despite my confirmation number. The person at the desk was very concerned and we spent a good while figuring it out; we found my booking only after I realized he did not understand how I pronounced my name as it begins with a "J." Once in the room, we found a room that reminded me of a university dormitory before anybody moves in. Fine for a night, and expected with the price, but still not a place I'd want to spend significant time in. My friend and I had to leave pretty early in the morning for our flight, and the man running the place arranged for a taxi ride for us--surprisingly, the taxi was there waiting for us right when we opened our room door. Overall, not the nicest place, but the man running the place was a great man who truly cared for the people staying in his hotel. Fine for an overnight, but if I were to spend several days in Guayaquil, I would find something closer to the waterfront.
Great staff, room small but nice.
This is a very nice place to stay, but because of room size would not recommend for extended stay. Staff was excellent.
Nice family hotel
Very clean and cheap hotel. You get more than you pay for. Its a private room with bahtroom, with cable tv, air conditioner with remote control, some towels, shampoo, soap and hot water. The small breakfast is included and they took care of my bagages until I picked them up to go to the airport.
Wonderful owner, so-so area
Let me say, firstly, that I didn't not care for Guayaquil as a city. It was a stopover for me, before the Galapagos. The hotel was run by a kind and helpful family, and it was clean. The neighborhood it was in left quite alot to desire, as it is sketchy and looks unsafe. However, we encountered no problems at all with our safety. The beds are bathroom were clean and the breakfast was very basic (rolls, butter, jam and coffee). If I were to chose to go back to Guayaquil, would I go back to this hotel? Probably not, but...it was affordable and clean, and within walking distance of the center. If this is what is most important to you, please stay with the folks at Hotel Jeshua.
Satisfactory service
Hotel was clean as was the bedroom and bathroom. Everything worked fine. Owner runs it himself and was very courteous and helpful. Is not located in the heart of Guayaquil so it was in a much quieter neighborhood than most hotels in the area.
Secure location with caring owners
Only 15 minutes from the airport and 30 minutes walk to Malecon 2000. excellent location in a safe area with convenient restaurants nearby. Luis, the owner, obviously cares about the safety of his guests and is very helpful. His son, Alex, speaks the most English and ensures that there is no language barrier. Breakfast is simple: bread roll, butter & jam with fruit juice and coffee. This is an intimate hotel which is much more like a B&B with ample opportunity to meet other guests over breakfast. The bedrooms are clean and comfortable. Free WiFi is available throughout.
Exceptionally clean
This is a small, family run hotel. It is exceptionally clean and the owners are extremely hospitable and helpful. It is located 4 blocks from the main street, 9 de octubre; easily accessible by taxi or bus. Great for a short stay.
great for travellers, who need a bed and breakfast
Very safe, but you only get in and out by ringing the bell. Located next to a taco bar and a barber shop. Both offer good service for the money
Secure and immaculately clean
The owner is a cordial and very helpful guy, and so is his son Luis. They will go out of their way to ensure the guest´s comfort and security. They will help with arranging taxi and information generally.
Hotel review
Ok hotel in the heart of the city but cold water for showers!!!!
Great all round place to stay.
Very clean rooms in quiet part of town but close to the main avenue 9 Octubre. Very secure also. The hosts are super friendly and will go out of there way to help with any need. Highly recommended.
Best place to stay in Guayaquil
Hotel Jeshua is a fantastic family run place. Spotlessly clean, modern, quiet and safe. Wifi, Cable TV, Hot water and breakfast were all included and were of a high standard. Located about 6-7 blocks from the Malecon and 15 mins from the airport by taxi. The owners made sure that everything we needed was catered for and even booked us a safe cab to take us back to the bus station. If we were ever to return to Guayaquil, we'll definitely stay there again.
Great Service & Price
The staff is beyond helpful, the room is simple but clean, and there is a clean common area with tables you can sit at and use the free wi-fi. There is a bell you can use to awaken staff if you need anything. The reviewers who complained about the security measures just don't understand Guayaquil. Hotels have to provide for security in Ecuadorian cities. A big hotel might have an armed guard. A little hotel like this one can't afford that, so it has good walls and an electric fence. It's to keep staff and guests safe. Not a luxury accommodation, but a clean, safe, well-run little hotel. I recommend highly for someone who needs to stay in Guayaquil at a reasonable cost.
The hotel owner/manager went out of his way to be helpful to me for which I was very appreciative. While he does not speak English we managed to muddle through my needs and he did all he could to attend to them.
A good little place, highly recommended.
Powerful and quiet AC, a good bed and a decent shower make for a great value room. I wish everywhere was as good as this.
luis was so helpful! :)
luis was so very helpful and kind. the best was having internet available at all times (incl. the computer) and a water cooler! very clean though simple.
NOT recommended
This is a low price basic 1 start hostel, in a not too good neighbourhood. The rooms are OK for the price, but the neighbourhood makes bad imptession, and does not look safe. The hotel has walls to the street with electric wires on the top. Stay there ONLY if you are one or 2 men, and REALLY want to save money.
NICE LITTLE BED & BREAKFAST
This is a small family run Bed & Breakfast. Alex the son speaks English and Spanish. It is in the main part of Guayaquille and is very clean. This would not be somewhere you would stay long term unless you were a backpacker. It was perfect to stay the night we flew in. We got there at 9Pm and left for the coast in the morning. We were served breakfast and left at 10 am. I would stay there again. They were very hosptable. .
Hotel Jeshua: A few blocks from the main street.
Overall the hotel is great. It was remodeled a year ago so it is very nice and clean. The owner is very nice, accommodating, and is easy to deal with. I came in town on a bus and thought I would get in earlier than I did. He didn't charge for the first night I was not there even though I did not cancel 48 hours in advance. He will help out with tourist information and call a cab if needed. The two negatives is I stayed a total of 3 nights and on the last 2 nights the room was not cleaned up as I would have liked. The towels were changed and bed was made but garbage that was obvious was left. Last, the website says they serve breakfast but it was only coffee/tea with a bread roll served with a slice of cheese and jam. Other than that everything was perfect!
An Oasis in a Crazy City
This is a gem of a hotel in a neighborhood I would rather not walk in. Alex, the owner, is very hospitable and helpful. His family lives on the premises and is always available. There was a computer available and wifi. He has very tight security. You get buzzed in and buzzed out. Also breakfast was provided at the time requested. Very simple but filling. Typical breakfast:bread with cheese and marmalade. Coffee and juice. I would definitely come back to Hotel Jeshua.
Great econo hotel
A very clean inn and rooms are like new but small.. Nicely tiled floors, ceiling molding, fan and lites. A/C works great and cold. Bathrooms are fully attractively tiled, like new and quite nice but small. Plenty of hot water, larger than normal soap and shampoo provided. Free drinking water in the small dining/lounge area. Free breakfast is provided but is the same nice big roll, cheese, jam, juice and all the instant coffee you want and filling. Itis tiring after a few days. The owners, Luis and Christina are polite and helpful and their son speaks adequate english and was quite helpful for me. Have been here for a week and staying longer to purchase a car. Avenue Nueve de Octubre is nearby which is one of the main drags and leads down to the Malecon but is a good distance. I walked to the Malecon and the Cerro Santa Ana which offers a great view of the city but is a good climb. Security is tight here with high walls with elect. wires topping them, cameras at the entry gate and guests must be buzzed in and then again into the front door.
squeeky clean
This small hotel is spartan but immaculately clean. The owner is attentive and tailored a tour of the city to match my interests (cementaries, neighborhood remodeling, etc.). Convenient location. The streets themselves, however, are hazardous because there are huge drainage ditches between sidewalk and street the likes of which I had never seen.
A Home away from Home
I visited Guayaquil for the first time since I was born there and had no idea of what to expect. Mr. Luis who runs this very nice bed and breakfast with his wife met me at the airport and saw to it that I made it to the hotel safe and sound. The hospitality is unbelievable. Every day my room was cleaned and bed made. Breakfast was nothing grand like you would get a 5 star hotel but was enough to get me going. Your clothes can be washed by Luis daily if you like. Also if you need to get a taxi, Mr. Luis can call you a taxi and make sure you get to where you need be. English is not spoken at Hotel Jeshua however, it gives you the perfect opportunity to practice your spanish. Luis' son who also lives there speaks perfect English. Luis has a nephew, Abdel, who speak good English and even has tour packages to take you around Guayaquil safely. Abdel has his own vehicle for transportation and all costs for the packages include transportation. I had the most enjoyable experience and would definitely return to Hotel Jeshua the next time I go to Guayaquil. The neighborhood is quiet and safe and close to the Avenue 9 October (main Avenue in Guayaquil). I hope you get the chance to stay at the Hotel Jeshua when you travel to Guayaquil.
Jeshua Hotel in Guayaquil
Very friendly staff, clean room and common areas, will definitely go back when in Guayaquil.
Excellent Service in Guayaquil
The owners of the hotel are fantastic at providing information on Guayaquil and are very accomodating. It is better if you are fluent or speak some spanish. The rooms were very clean and new. The location is a good walk from the Malecon 2000, but using the main pedestrian street is safe and entertaining to say the least. It took me about 20 minutes with brisk walking to reach the malecon, so allow 30 minutes with normal walking. The internet connection at the hotel as well as the numerous cable channels on TV are a great addition to the services. I would definitely stay here again.
Very clean and helpful staff.
They picked me up at the airport ( although we took a regular taxi that I paid for) and were very nice and helpful for the one day I stayed. A family run place.
Excelente!
