We had a really nice stay. Our only complaint is that the mattress was so hard we had trouble sleeping and both ended up with headaches and sore necks from our two-night stay.
5 stars
Great location, great value.
Great value stay in Leadville
I've stayed at the Inn & the Clouds over the years since 2009. I've stayed before going on back country hut ski trips around Leadville. The last few years I've been staying here as a cheaper alternative for when I ski multiple days at Vail or Breckenridge. Very affordable. Plenty of space for cooking/dinners. Very quiet on the weeknights I stay here. I WILL BE BACK this winter at some point. Staff is very nice (even when I forget items on accident there lol)
Five stars
Great value great location, cozy and affordable.
This hostel/inn was awesome! One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in, the owners were so kind! I felt like I was at my own house!:) so clean and cozy
This hostel is as expected. It was cheap. But the rooms were spacious, the kitchen worked and there was a huge fridge. The shared bathrooms were never crowded. Parking was easy and close. Checkin easy too. I will stay there again.
Good Hostel
Awesome Hostel Near The Mountains
Very nice hostel, I even made some friends and skied with them the next day. The hosts were amazing, it was Thanksgiving and they had made a big Thanksgiving meal and everyone who was staying there that night got to eat some.
Great place; awesome people!
What a fantastic experience starting over night at Inn the Clouds! Well worth the price paid, would highly recommend and will definitely stay here again!
Family
Friendly staff. Great hostel community
The staff was so friendly and helpful! The hostel was really clean, had a big kitchen, nice dining area, living room, and a really nice front and backyard. The bed was comfy. The only downside was that the rooms are downstairs, and if you try to sleep until 9 am like I did, you can hear people walking upstairs and it's pretty loud even with ear plugs. But I'm a light sleeper-so maybe it wouldn't bother other people! Overall, it's a really nice hostel and I'd definitely stay here again. Thank you, Nico, Alex, and everyone at Inn the Clouds!
I love here!
Great Hostel experience.
Staying at this hostel was a great experience. The owners and staff are so friendly as well as the guests. We stayed in the 2 bed 1 bathroom room. The beds were comfortable. The communal kitchen had everything needed to prepare meals. Bins are provided to store food, refrigerator was big and could accommodate food for many guests. Owner was kind enough to provide freezer space for our ice pack. Coin Washer/dryers are available. Large TV room with plenty of seating options, large dining table to accommodate everyone. Game room is downstairs. Quiet hours are 10pm to 7 am and enforced. I would stay here again.
The variety of different guest - Israel who wanted to hike in the local area, France who stopped for just one night, Germany who stopped for two nights, CDT who stopped for one night. Denver who stopped for three nights. Many different enjoyable people from many walks of life. The hosts were always available to help and listen and share when asked.
Great accommodations. Very clean, great bed, fluffy large towels .
Great place
This is a great place for those who like hostel life. It has a large kitchen with an orderly system for storage and cooking, clean rooms, and extra-clean toilet and shower facilities. The employees and the guests were very friendly and helpful. Hostels like this might actually help heal the country! There should be more hostels like Inn the Clouds!
Perfect home-base for exploring Leadville. Visited with my boyfriend and had a private room which was clean, though the bed was a tad hard. Bathrooms were super clean. Fun to have ping pong table and seems like there were cool people to connect with if we had more time to do so!
Comfy hostel in the mountains! Highly recommend.
Excellent place to stay!
I’d be wanting to stay here and had an opportunity last night. It was exactly what I needed for a short night of sleep. It could be a little cleaner, and it’s clearly seen many many travelers. It’s a friendly place and even my introverted self was drawn into a couple conversations that never would have happened at an ordinary hotel. A cool place to walk out from either away from town towards mountains or down into town for a steak and athlete viewing.
Inn the Clouds Hostel was exactly what I hoped it would be -- a quiet, convenient, community-building opportunity as I build knowledge of and prepare to run the Leadville Trail 100 Run. Most people staying were either preparing for the run, to crew or pace runners, to hike 14,000' mountains every day, or resting and resupplying as they continued on their through hikes of the Colorado Trail. So most people were either already tired or trying to bank sleep. Guests were very considerate regarding noise and light, and my co-ed bunk room was just perfect. There are other arrangements possible, too -- a smaller bunk room could be rented by an entire group, for instance, or there are private rooms in the main house or out back. Everyone was very considerate in following the rules regarding kitchen use, pets, etc. bedding and a bath towel is included -- if you want a hand towel or washcloth, bring your own! I have already booked my next stay at Inn the Clouds!
Great short stay
Great place for a one-night hiking stopover; they are well-equipped to handle people passing through and have built a sense of community amongst those staying. Clean, safe, and friendly environment.
I’ve stated here twice - fun vibe if you don’t mind sharing space with others. I’ve had a private room Both times I’ve stayed here
Great spot in Leadville
Very clean. Nice staff. Good amenities.
Brian welcomed me immediately and gave me a quick tour of the place. Very friendly; great staff and love Inn the Clouds!
It was very clean, nice.. I would recommended
Highly recommend!
The room was great for the 5 of us. We had a family room with a private bath. Staff was kind and helpful. We only stayed one night, so we didn’t utilize all the amenities but it was a well laid out and comfortable place. Would stay here again.
A perfect stay for what I needed. Clean, safe friendly and very nice comfortable bed for one night needed rest. Thank you.
Incredibly clean, very quiet and much nicer than any hostel I’ve stayed in both in America and abroad.
Lovely hostel for hikers and families
This was a wonderful place that really fitted our families needs when our camping trip was cut short due to wildfires. The hosts were great.
These folks were great and more than accommodating for a couple of first timers hunkering down in a hostile. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again!
Very nice owners, cute property
Very comfortable, friendly hostel. Rooms are basic. Bathrooms shared. Price excellent.
Awesome
Short family vacation
Very clean, friendly owners, comfortable, very well organized for use of communal areas. We had the private family room with private bathroom (bathroom is small but doable). All the beds were comfortable and clean. Owners were very responsive to any questions (even before our arrival) and once there, they gave us a tour and explained how the communal areas worked in this hostel. Expectations of rules and use of areas is very clearly provided throughout the hostel and there were plenty of kitchen supplies, storage for personal items, etc. Our private room was roomy and easily accommodated our family of 8 (3 adults/5 kids). We enjoyed our 1 night stay as a family and would definitely return if in the area again. Area scenery is beautiful!
Great spot to stay
My overall rating is an average of very disparate ratings on different aspects of the facility. The kitchen rates a 5.0. Has a lot of space for refrigerated and non-refrigerated food. Great gas stove and everything you need to make whatever you want. The men's shower and bathroom rates a 1.0. Small space and no privacy at all. Shared room rates a 3.0. Upper bunks have no privacy but at least they do provide each person with a good sized storage cabinet that can be locked. Dining and other common areas are nice. Limited parking spaces. I didn't want to leave in the evening and come back with no place to park
Very convenient and affordable alternative to staying in Vail to ski. Stayed here last year too and will come back in the summer during hiking season.
ski cooper trip
friendly host very helpful and informative, other guests were outgoing and friendly
The kitchen, dining area, and living room were very nice. The bedroom was clean and comfy. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Room was great, neighbor had me turn down St. Patrick’s day bagpipes.
Great experience overall….clean, perfect location, homey, easy check in/out…would highly recommend!!!! Thank you!
Great, clean and quiet: All I needed and the delivered!!
Stayed here many times over the years Still a great affordable spot in Leadville. Very friendly.
Really enjoyed my stay here and look forward to visiting again. Is a super cozy hostel. Would be cool if the pool table was either repaired or removed. No complaints. This place is very comfy.
Nice, affordable place to stay. Short walk to downtown.
Love this place! Fantastic owners made our stay a breeze. Hope we have the opportunity to stay there again.
Perfect location for skiiing and meeting people.
We live in the San Juan's mountains and have stayed here for skiing many times. Cooper 25 min. Copper 35 min. Breck. / Keystone 40-50min. Going back in two weeks.
Very convenient
Staff was super friendly. Very clean
Clean and quiet place.
Increible super centrico y muy acogedor
Nice and quiet place in Leadville. Loved it!
Stay at the Inn was exactly what I was looking for. Clean, affordable and super friendly staff. Booked a private room with two beds which also had its own fridge. The kitchen in the main building had plenty of cold/dry storage. Coffee and tea were available. Two spacious common areas and a large dinning area. Kent is amazing and super knowledgeable regarding the area and mountains. He happily answered any questions we had. I would definitely recommend Inn the Clouds and stay here again.
I was greeting by the friendly staff who showed me around. Everything was clean and in good condition. I would highly recommend!
Great place with many options to stay. Very friendly
Our stay was amazing, very clean and friendly environment. We would stay there again.
A nice cozy hostel with very friendly staff.
This is a cool hostel, lots of hikers and climbers stay here. It’s not fancy but it’s clean and the staff are super friendly and helpful.
A great place to stay and take a break from camping. Friendly staff, comfortable beds, fluffy towels and showers!
We stayed in a room separate from the house. We had no running water or bathroom in our room. Had to go a few steps to the main house's bathroom. Shower and TVs in common areas only. Pool table in main house. Minutes walk to train ride. Short drive to downtown Leadville. Free WIFI. Good thing since AT&T network doesn't work in Leadville.
Most of the guests were hikers so we had that in common. It was fun to share the kitchen and dining room with the other guests. Walk to downtown.
First time staying in a hostel we had our own room shared a bathroom but we were okay with that ,, Nice place
Nice place.
I loved this place. The basic single run was very small, but I had so if the rest of the two floors to enjoy. There's a huge well-equipped and spotless kitchen, a longgg shared dining table, comfy sofas, and nice sitting places outside. This is far enough from the crowded main street to feel peaceful. I wish I could have stayed a week instead of a night!
The hostel had a lot of charm and is very welcoming. I would definitely stay again.
This is my first time to stay in Hostels. It surprised me for the services it provided. It is clean, comfortable and safe to stay there.
Great place to stay
Very clean and comfortable, definitely recommend it.
LOVE this place. It felt like home the first day I arrived. All of the staff were inviting and accommodating. The community built was quick and lasting. I already can't wait to come back.
unique interior design, nice friendly atmosphere
The place is unique and comfortable, very clean, and Kent showed us around and explained everything that we needed to know about this hostel. I would definitely stay there again. Guests were friendly and easy to get along with.Very cool place to stay.
Great Hostel
This was my first experience at a Hostel and it was very positive. I enjoyed the "communal" atmosphere and I found everyone - staff and other residents - to be friendly and helpful. They had everything I needed - kitchen, showers, laundry facilities, and a quiet room with a comfortable bed.
Great Stay
My son and I stayed here the night before hiking to Mt Elbert which was very convenient. It was very clean, quiet and comfortable. The community kitchen provided everything we needed to get an early start on the trail and was much appreciated.
Friendly, comfortable, the total hostel experience. One concern, I did not see a second, emergency exit from the basement rooms. The wood steps are the only entry and exit. I saw just one window, which also served as the opening to the outside for the wood stove pipe.
Cozy, clean, and quiet.
Great stay in Leadville, CO!
Staff was super friendly, very clean room and common areas, respectful guests, opportunity to commune with other guests if desired, great location. Will stay again!
Professional and Personable Family feeling
It always a pleasure to stay here
Great place.
All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Not one thing I can complain about. I will stay there whenever I go back.
Beautiful, snow mountain all around the town and decent place. It is a quiet neighborhood and we had a good recharge after whole day trip.
Great visit!
Overall I had a wonderful stay! The property is beautiful, and the kitchen and common spaces are warm, inviting, and spacious. I had a private room, and the room was pretty basic, which is what I expected! I haven't slept on a double bed in awhile, but being 6'2'' I can't say I perfectly fit on it. My first night, there was a unexpected snow storm that came to town, and I found my room to be very cold, to the point where it was difficult to sleep. The following morning I connected with Claire, one of the on-site staff, and she was able to confirm that I could use a space heater, which made such a positive difference night two. The staff were just lovely, and re-emphasized by interest in returning for a future visit. In summary - a wonderful visit! As a reminder, this is an inn and hostel, not the four seasons, so expectations need to be reasonable, but this is such a good deal, and with kind staff, it's an easy decision to return in the future (I'll be back in June).
Great staff! This felt like home, walking distance to shops and dining. Clean! Skiing, snowmobiling everywhere. I'll definitely be back. I loved that private room that felt like I was cozy dark in a cave. Slept great!
The owners and staff were helpful and friendly. The hostel was well organized and had a great vibe.
Clean, safe and comfortable
This was my second stay at Inn the Clouds. The experience is always pleasant but this time the bed I had was particularly comfortable and had great pillows. The kitchen is well stocked and organized and each guest has space to store personal items. I’ve always had a welcoming and friendly experience with both staff and other guests at the hostel. The common areas are always quiet and relaxing.
Amazing stay!
Fantastic property and amenities including access to a full kitchen - very friendly staff, helpful recommendations - quirky and great!
It was nice to have the shared kitchen facilities and a good stock of spices.
A nice place to stay if in the Leadville area. The hostel is well run, clean, and convenient. It is also priced fairly for what you get.
Cozy and clean with friendly staff!
My Leadville go to for lodging
Always a great stay. Staff and all the guests are always super friendly. Place is clean and in a great location. I choose the private rooms just because I like my space these days. It's great too be able to mingle with folks and then hideout in the room when you want to. I also really appreciate that they allow dogs. As long as we all keep respecting their pet rules that will continue.
Interesting facility. If you like an adventure, this place is for you.
Amazing Hostel! Will definitely come back again.
Not informed of the ricketly flight of stairs i would have to use to get to rooms until after i made reservation
What a great time! Helpful staff were open and friendly. Plan to go there again.

Fire hazard...
Some sketchy fire hazards about and bunk bed that was rigged together made our stay entertaining I guess. Maybe I'm too old for hostels. There was an electrical extension cord that was taped to the on position. It kept trying to trip and turn off and couldn't because it was taped to on. Luckily we're not idiots and know that's a serious fire hazard and unplugged it. Bunk bed in our room sounded like it would collapse and upon further inspection we learned it was repaired poorly and actually would collapse soon probably.
