It was a comfortable stay in the room and the hot tub was a nice surprise, however the walls are thin, so the guests next door we’re a bit noisy, including a barking dog at times and snoring at night.
Quite and close to town.
We had a tough start. Two rooms that we were given were too hot, but they were quick to respond and get us in a nice little cabin. We had a great night
Quiet, clean and a cozy bed👍👍
Customer service was great on arrival.
Overall, Idle A While is a convenient place for travelers to the Northen Cascade National Park area for hikings and other activities when they have a pet and no other hotels available in Wintrop, as it's just a 20 away on Hwy 20 in Twisp. We stayed here and upon checking in got a gift for our dog which was a pleasant surprise. The hotel owner's wife even made some muffins for breakfast for the guests. Recommended!
We checked in late but email was sent out for check in information in advance and host was available for question right away when I called after business hours
Loud dogs around me
The owners are lovely and have clearly been making improvements. It is clean, nicely painted, large room, pretty good bed, fridge with bigger than most freezer & microwave. Fluffy towels. Keyless entry. Charging ports in bedside alarm clock and desk lamp. Magnetic housekeeping/do not disturb signs for door. Deer grazing on property. Right on the highway so easy access but there is traffic noise in the morning. Good rates. Hair dryers, the beat up furniture may be next on the list. Despite agreeing with their spending priorities, it is not 5 star yet.
Room was comfortable and the town is very nice. Really liked the views and the town vibe.
Loved the contactless check in/checkout - perfect spot for what was needed. we will be back
Great location. Easy to find. Great service and clean rooms.
1) We were given 2 addresses. I didn't know we had 2 addresses. I looked at one which was 505 N Hwy 20 Twisp. It caused much confusion and frustration. Finally, I found the 419 N Methow Valley Hwy Twisp which was the correct one. The 505 N Hwy 20 address needs to be eliminated. 2) The room was very run down with horribly run down furniture. You can get much better quality 2nd hand furniture to make the room appear nicer. 3) It was not worth the $177 for the room especially with no continental breakfast.
The photos and property descrption are so misleading that they are almost fraudulant! The "spa" is a shack with red wooden letters nailed to the door that say"spa". The hand drawn sign leaned in the dirt against the sign post in the front states"RV dump station coming soon" Good thing because yhe whole place looks like an RV dump station!!
Basic room had a smell like it was previously smoking room. One lonely beetle bug. The air conditioner needed a chair to operate because it was so high. Couch needs replacement. Otherwise it was ok for the price as it was only one night.
Hassle free check in. Very friendly.
Great stay, i will use them again.
Was a great locations
This is perfect place to stay for me
Very friendly management and clean rooms. Easy walk to several restaurants. Definitely due for a renovation in the rooms though.
Clean room and friendly staff
The check in process was the simplest ever!
It was lovely and easiest check in ever. Only complaint was that during the night the heater made some annoying noises but nothing too loud.
Ease of communication, I received a text message w/room number and door key code. Room is updated and modern, clean and comfortable. Lots of hot water but bathroom could use a little more lighting in the night.
I’ve stayed here twice before-maybe I was crazy at those times. The “spa” is in an unheated crummy building and nothing actually works. The heaters in the rooms tick like radiators. My kid didn’t even want to get under the quilt and the sheets are real cheap too. There’s a couch in the room that looks like someone’s poodle went nuts on it a few years back and no one thought twice about leaving it as is for all to be dismayed by. The mini fridge makes sci-fi noises. Anyway, we left. Thanks no thank you. Oh. And then I got a call at 8:35pm asking me for my CC info but I had already paid and received a receipt. Whoopsie.
Kind of run down, however a place to get a shower and lay your head
This is an older property. We knew this and were there for deer hunting. We obviously knew that the interiors aren't brand new. We wanted a unit that had a full kitchen so we could prepare meals. We had an issue with our 1st nights room and brought it to the attention of management. He was very accommodating and moved us to another room. Very good customer service.
Yes
Well located. Very simple check in.
I was locked in my room twice. In the morning I had to climb out the window. Apparently something wrong with the old bolt lock. Hot tub out if service. Main reason to stay here
The staff was helpful with an issue I had with my room.
A Post-NP stop
A better than average facility coming out of the national park. Everything was in order and we encountered no problems.
Unusual check in system
Very old and lots of bugs
Bugs in the rooms
Buggy and disappointing
Lots of bugs in room, especially bathroom. Not roaches, something about fly-size but not a fly. Toilet got plugged, I reported it, asked them to fix it while we were gone, they just left a plunger outside the door. We fixed it ourselves. They said there was an ice maker but it wasn't working. Reported that to them as well.
Never stay their again!!!
The room was dirty. The bathroom shower was gross. the AC couldn't cool the room. The heaters were left on when we got there. Way overpriced and I feel taken advantage of.
Old motel coming back to life. Needs TLC and some renovations Has everything you need. Stayed in a cabin had everything you needed. Windows and screens could use a clean and AC filter to be cleaned Price is right, I will stay again hopefully longer.
We have stayed at this Motel 3 different years. We like the cabins because you are separate and therefore quieter than a typical motel room. The grounds are great for dogs, lots of space. The staff has always been nice and friendly. The rooms and cabins are in need of updating. Think late 79’s early 80’s
This older motel was clean and quiet and in town. Nothing special, but very comfortable and easy!
Easiest check in ever!!
Easy access nice area , clean room , can sit on the porch and look at the area. But no ice . You have to go to the store to get ice
Fine for overnight stay
Fine for an overnight stay but our sink in the bathroom had 2 large rusty spots. Would have complained if we'd stayed longer.
Nice place to stay. This is a clean no extras motel.
Bugs in room, poor lighting. Air conditioner had gaps in window frame, allowing air and moths into the room, bugs coming in from ceiling tiles.
We had a great stay! While an older Motel, it was very clean and comfortable! It definitely exceeded my expectations. I usually stay in higher end places, and I was actually quite pleased with how clean, functional, and spacious the room was. I would definitely stay here again!
It's old, but perfectly adequate, comfortable bed, accepts dogs, friendly manager.
Motel is no-frills but totally classic. All-electronic check-in and payment is awesome!
Very basic, but comfortable motel. Our room was close to the highway, so traffic noise can be a bit of a problem, but leaving the fan on overnight helped.
Great location for access to Nordic skiing trails, 5 minutes from large grocery store which serves hot food by a fireplace, very comfortable bed and hot shower. A short walk to the river. In the winter, you might want to call with your ETA. We had to wear coats for 3 hours while the unit warmed up (outside temp was 17d F). Next 48 hours was comfortably warm.
Very pleasant and reliable lodging
Rooms need a complete upgrade. Very old, yucky carpet etc.
As far as cheap motels go, this is as solid as I hope for. We stayed a second night as it was just too convenient. Walking distance to downtown Twisp, 10 minute drive to Winthrop, park right in front of your sleep, clean, comfy beds, and no real gross motel vibes, which we’re experiencing often on our drive across America. Wish all motels were to this standard!
Oo
Not Good
The place needs work. Hotels.com said room would have kitchenette, maybe a problem with the listing, but it didn't. Faint smell of cigarette smoke in our nonsmoking room. Carpet that is old. Three very dim lights. And not inexpensive.
The air conditioner was so noisy. I had to sleep in a warmer room than I would have liked. Everytime the ac cycled it woke me up. No employees on site. No face to face. Just a phone that auto dialed to a live human. The vending machine was out of water in August with 90 degree temps. The caramel was hard in the Snickers bar from the vending machine. Sounds like a rant, but the little things really do add up.
Easy check-in!
It is a quaint hotel in the Cascade loop. The spa and dry sauna did not work. The jacuzzi had too much chemicals. The spa room carpet was old and dank and had an odor. Cost was Too much . Pet friendly
Clean and simple
Clean basic room. Did have a nice sofa. Was visiting my brother in twisp. Enjoyed my stay
Very comfortable stay. I appreciated the quiet even on a busy street.
Clean but dated. Phone-only access to manager at check-in. Couldn’t find my on-line reservation initially. Electrical outlets limited and very busy. Friendly face-to-face upon check-out.
Clean and very comfortable
It’s a little run down. The pictures posted are either old or not reflective of the room I stayed in. The room has an old smell, possibly due to the old carpet that is mentioned by other reviewers. The room is dark with just three 40W bulbs. Perhaps the owners could splash out on some 100W or equivalent lights. I like to read and could do so only with difficulty. No privacy unless curtains are drawn thus shutting out natural light. A net curtain or blinds could be nice. Old curtains which ran with difficulty over an old curtain rail. Old furniture. I could hear everything outside: vehicles on the street, (it’s not that busy but I’m a light sleeper), a truck starting up at 3:45am, etc. The bathroom is basic motel standard. Everything was clean. Glad coffee was provided. Didn’t explore other features such as hot tub etc.
It was very nice to be able to sit outside the room as chairs were available. Enjoyed the staff and enjoyed the area
John the manager was a very nice person to work with. One thing I will add as a recommendation; The water pressure in the shower was great but the shower curtain leaked pretty bad and had some water to clean up after I showered. Not a big deal but would recommend putting a plastic curtain up to help with the next person..
Nice, comfortable place. The first hotel visit I've had in a while where ambient noise from loud people or terrible music wasn't keeping me awake. Perfect.
The access code check-in was extremely convenient.
The bathtub had mold along the edges as did the window. The blinds in the kitchen did not fully cover the window. It was about 4-5 inches short. The linoleum in the kitchen area had a hole torn in it. There was a large patch on the bathroom wall. Last but not least, there were tiny red spiders and some little bugs in the bathroom. If you have any question, I have it documented on my phone.
Spacious, sparkling clean room. Nice carpets, comfortable bed. Will stay again, definitely.
The room smelled awful. There was no staff on site until housekeeping came and she was less then helpful. The amenities didn’t work. The tv didn’t work the outlets were overloaded and unsafe. Their were bugs in the windows the bathroom fan didn’t work. The room was in serious disrepair.
Basic motel
Parking is 5 feet from your door and every room gets their own parking spot. Perfect if you have a lot of belongings. It’s really thick carpet in the rooms, a light odor, and the bathroom is really small needs some TLC. But location is quiet and Twisp is a cute town!
It was a handy location, great price, friendly staff, lovely property. Next time I will splurge for a cabin.
It worked!
Good location, a little dated but clean and adequate for needs

Good value
We came for a hockey tournament in Winthrop. The motel was adequate for my teen daughter and myself. Walls were very thin and it is definitely a little dated. The managers were kind and accommodating. We would come again!
