I didn't stay for my trip. I booked the room but my plans changed. I have been unable to get my refund from them. I can not even get them to respond to formal emails. They are not responding to Hotels.com. The one time i was able to get them on the phone, the thick accented man was extremely rude and even hung up on when i continued to ask him questions. Look it's in the hood, cheap, and directly off the interstate. I had very low expectations, so, i get what i get. The Hotels.com people were very nice and professional.

Do not stay here!

The rooms have a musty smell and the beds were squeaky. The property has not been maintained- light bulbs out, chips all over the wall and furniture. The air conditioner was not cooling well, we ended up leaving and booking another room, we could not stay here, it was gross and even though we were offered another room it was even worse with stains on the sheets. I do not recommend.

My stay here was pleasant and friendly staff I enjoyed it will recommend it to family and friends.

NEEDS IMPORVEMENT

When I arrived, the first sign that greeted me was that the pool was not in service. The photographs painted amuch rosier picture of the pool anyway. The clerk at the desk had an accent that was nearly unintelligible. There were bugs in my bedroom. The toilet was off-center and appeared in poor condition. There was no in-room coffee. There was no light bulb in the desk lamp. The coffee in the lobby was atrocious and undrinkable. The biscuit gravy was like water and inedible. The bed blanket was too thin, and I required another. The shower head was clogged with calcification.There was a crack in the sink basin. Two positives: the lady behind the desk was very kind and courteous. The waffles were above average. This place needs work.

The rooms were very clean

Non-functioning land line room phone, and a TV that an employee got to work properly only after over half an hour of fiddling with the remote. Sullen staff attitude when fresh towels for the second guest and a spare roll of toilet paper were requested. Breakfast sucked: jelly packets were dried out (probably due to old age), biscuits were hard and tasteless, and the gravy was as thin as GULAG soup. I won't return.

This was a very dirty hotel , blood on mattress, curtain half up , no coffee maker or iron in room as stated , pool was covered not in use . Towels were awful condition. Over priced for graduation and overall just terrible!

The pool was out of service and there was no outdoor area to sit and relax. Some of the towels in the room were tattered. The rooms were very outdated.

The staff was amazing, friendly, hospitable. Went above and beyond to fulfill the needs of all guests.

Don’t waste your money!

Room was definitely not the cleanest. Stains on bedding. Customer service was awful. Pretty sure drug deals were going down in the parking lot. Went to get ice from the ice machine, a manager stood in the hallway staring me down like I was doing something wrong and wouldn’t speak when I said hello. Check out was at 11… over an hour before checkout time the housekeeper walks into our room, with us still in it, and starts changing out the bedding. By far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at.

It is probably the worst hotel I have stayed in. Nothing worked, the air dryer, the sink had no cover and sticks once you open the tap. The door looked unsafe with cracks on the beam as if it has been forced open. The smell of the room was like it was sprayed with mosquito repellent. The toilet flushes but water doesn’t stop running. Lastly, the water in the bath tub after shower wouldn’t drain quickly. I would rate them zero.

Empty tissue boxes, no coffee pot in the room. Pillows old and worn out. Staff not very friendly.

The hotel was not clean at all. There were red stains on the counter, carpets were dirty, toilet seat was broken, breakfast was old and waffle maker was broken. Front counter lady was very rude.

This property is disgusting!! Dirty sheets, trash under bed, bathroom was terrible and chipped paint everywhere.

Never stay here!

We killed 3 cockroaches in the 45 minutes we were in the room. We tried to call to the front desk, but the phone in the room didn’t work. We packed up and left. They told me at the front desk I would be able to get a refund, but then denied it when I opened a complaint through the 3rd party booking app.

We had a king sized bed suite and the room was clean but the shower drained VERY SLOW and the spout had two trinkels and don’t work very good . We asked room service for more shampoo and conditioner and never received or soap.

TV wouldn’t work had to have someone come in and fix it. It got up in the morning. It didn’t work again put money in The vending machine went to the clerk. He told me it would not take any cash. It took two more dollars refunded me one dollar. They didn’t do nothing about it. The breakfast was very bad nothing fresh.

I’m a travel nurse who frequently stays in hotels. Staff are relatively friendly, but very paranoid to the point it’s a little ridiculous. Although, my room did have several burn stains from cigarettes and the fire alarms sounded one night at 11:30 pm. And, the room had definitely seen some previous party days. So, the paranoia is somewhat understandable. Also, the hotel management/owners personally inspected my room before I could check out. Other than mentioned above, the room service kept my room clean everyday, and once the management/owners determined I wasn’t there to party and break the rules they were friendlier. The hotel is cheaper than others in the area and not a terrible place to stay if you’re wanting to save a little money. Keep in mind the area is not the best with smoke/head shops and several homeless people. So, don’t mistakenly leave valuables in your car. I guess you get what you pay for.

The place is very unkept. I checked in, walked to my room and then checked out. Just scary. Everything needed to be painted - mirror broken in the room … just NO! I booked another hotel and left.

It was the worse time of a vacation because the AC unit was leaking and there was a puddle of water on the floor and they tried to clean. So with this issue the room was very damp when we come in and we just dealt with it because it was the only thing ij town due to the holiday weekend.

Hotel staff very nice, area located is safe and there is plenty of parking. There is breakfast from 6-9 which the website didn't mention. Pool was broken so that was a bummer. Beds are very firm. Water is hot and AC works great. Other than that the price is what you pay for what you get. Not fancy or perfect hotel but great experience for us

I have always picked this hotel multiple times when I’m in Lubbock, never have had issues. This time around, there was roaches in my room and what looked like mold on the ceilings. We didn’t see it until we got up this morning because we literally fell asleep as soon as we got to the room. The staff is always so nice and check in, but I don’t think I’ll pick this place again in the future.

We reserved 2 rooms and even though the place looked run down, cheaply re-painted, you could tell it wasn't very clean. Communication with the front desk was poor. The phones in the room don't work. They are stingy with towels and bedding. I had a sofa bed and had to go downstairs to get a set of bedding. I was told they were out and as I complained he said one minute, then came back with a set of bedding. I brought a grocery sack full of snacks and food that could be cooked in microwave for my kid. We left the room one day and came back within a few hours and my mcdonald's bag that had trash in it was there but my Fresh grocery sack was gone. I went downstairs to inquire if the staff mistakenly thought it was trash and grabbed my bag. He told me I was the only one with access to my room. Then I mentioned that housekeeping had came so they had access and since he had hallway cameras all he needed to do was to access them to see if they in fact carried a grocery sack. He kept denying that his crew would do that. WTH - a child's snack bag? This is ridiciolous. Poor service.

There was not enough towels. When housekeeping came in they did not take dirty towels and leave clean ones.

IN NEED OF A REMODEL

My husband and I are not particularily picky people. When we travel and just need a place to lay our heads for a night, we choose a moderately priced hotel/motel. That said, we were disappointed in the condition of our room. There were bugs in the bathroom, the clicker to the remote didn't work, the bed and pillows were lumpy. There were very few people staying there but we were told there were no rooms on the first floor and the pool was out of order. There was loud banging through the night so we think maybe they are remodeling? The young man at the front desk was very nice and tried to fix the tv remote but was never able to. We hope that they are just going through growing pains but I think it would be wise to give them a few months.

This is a dirty roach filled placed. I couldnt even stay in the room. Roaches all over the room. I have the pictures to prove it. Mattress had huge blood stain on it.

The room had mold in the bathroom so we couldn't stay. We asked for another room and was informed of no other room available. In addition, because of a non refund policy i lost my money. I got my I won't book with you again.

We had a very comfortable large room, and was upgraded to a suit free of charge. The stay included a free breakfast. Was in a good location and a quiet hotel. Would definitely stay again.

The property is more concerned with getting you to sign a $50 charge than it is in keeping up the rooms. It's one thing to ask for a $50 deposit it's another one to charge your card for you to sign it and then refund it the next day. The room doesn't even have a chair. And the breakfast buffet is pretty basic. I requested a ground floor room due to handicap and of course that meant that they gave me a third floor room it's highly doubtful that I will ever stay here again I'm becoming really leery of hotels that want your credit card for quote incidentals unquote. Let's face it, this is becoming the big scam

My go to when passing through

Hotel is older, but rooms are clean and front desk is extremely helpful, friendly and available, if any issues should arise Breakfast is decent, but by no means gourmet. Have stayed here on numerous occasions when passing through on the way to San Antonio, and have never had issues. Location is very convenient, right off of the highway.

We like the location but the hotel is very old. The drain at the sink was not able to stay open. The bedding was old and not attractive. It was clean but that was all I can say.

Check-in interrogation and Is that a roach?

I booked a room with a queen size bed. I also requested to have a first floor room as I'm on oxygen and have limited mobility. When we checked in, I was told that there are no queen size beds on the first floor and would have to have a room on the 3rd floor. Ok, so I had to take breaks from walking to the room. The clerk repeatedly reminded me that I booked a queen size bed, like 4 to 5 times. Maybe she thought I should have known there werent any queen beds on the first floor? I can only guess why she felt the need to remind me so many times, but it felt like it was because I was with my wife. She did seem annoyed with the whole process. After signing multiple papers and paying for the room, i was told that there was a suite on the first floor for $15 more. She just assumed i wouldnt want it and didn't give me the option. The room was comfortable. However, I noticed what looked like a roach on the ceiling. We knocked it off but couldnt find it after that to confirm what it was. To be fair, we didnt see any more after that. The hvac unit was dirty looking and had broken fins on it. It did function. There was also a red stain on the curtain. The shower was hot and the bed was confortable. We didn't partake in the complimentary breakfast. The woman was friendlier when checking out, than checking in. I guess because we had already paid. There are better and nicer hotels in Lubbock. I think we'll pass on this one next time.

Fine but not great

Hotel has new carpet and a good mattress but every thing else was still in need of updating (chipped paint etc). Room was right by the outside door for the rear parking and slammed every time someone went in or out shaking the walls - very hard to sleep was told the ac noise should drown out the noise - there was no blanket on the bed so 64 was freezing in the room and it still didn't cover the noise. No coffee maker in room even though amenities included it on the website. Desk clerks were friendly and nice. Breakfast is only quick stuff besides waffle maker or gravy in the crockpot. Only fruit was bananas but they were not bruised so that was ok.

We booked the hotel through cheaptickets.com. Very disappointing! As we pulled into the property from the lubbock airport, there was people hanging out in the parking lot seemingly doing illegal stuff, there was no one to talk to at the front desk thus having to call through cell phone to let them know we wanted to check-in. As we entered the room...1st floor...was unbelievable, we turned the lights on and there was a bunch of roaches of all sizes running around. I called the front deskperson to come look at the condition of the room and asked him for a refund. In all fairness, he asked if he could move us to another room...but jeez, infestation doesn’t choose a room. Again i asked for a refund, the gentleman says we had to call cheaptickets.com, so we did....the agent contacted the hotel and denied the refund, after a few more phone calls, the hotel finally agreed to do a partial refund, charged us one night . One night that we DID NOT use ...because the place was infested with Roaches! Hope this review serves its purpose...clean your rooms and get it fumigated Howard Johnson!

It's just an odd place. Tvs don't work well beds are itchy

It is a typical motel chain franchise. The staff was very very good. The only thing that caught my eye was the floor was in bad condition, like it had been flooded at some time. It needs replacing. And there was some cosmetic damage to the bathroom door frame, which I fixed myself.

I left after 2 hours. There were roaches in the room. I would like a refund.

This hotel was horrible. The rooms were disgusting. There were stains on the bed in the first room they gave us. We moved rooms and it wasn’t much better. I saw a roach the morning we were leaving. The doors were gross. Rust everywhere. The ac was half falling off the wall. Sadly I forgot to take pictures.

Absolutely disgusting. Cockroaches everywhere. They were all sizes and in the sink, shower, and bed. I do not know how you could possibly allow people to stay here. It is deplorable.

The whole thing was a nightmare the desk clerk was rude. The room was nasty there was hair in the bathtub the soaps were half used and open and pubic hair on the toilet. Pillow smelled of cigarette just disgusting. Could not sleep cause hear all the traffic out side and the ppl the ppl in next room over. No breakfast like they said a bowl of cereal is not continental breakfast. Just all around bad! And there was snot on our door boogers gross!

To Whom it May Concern: I would expect more from a brand name. I am unsure if the Brand is aware of the deplorable conditions of the Howard Johnson by Wyndham, located at 5108 I27, Lubbock, Texas; however, here it is. Upon arrival during game day (9/16/2023) weekend in the area, there was one staff member on duty. Upon entering the motel, it smells of smoke, urine and waste. Using the elevator to go to the second floor, the elevator was also filthy. Upon arrival to my room, the key would not work. I carried all of my items back downstairs to the counter, and informed the attendant (after standing in line for 15 more minutes) that the key did not work. He was rude and stated he would rekey my card-the door works just didn’t do correctly. When entering the room it was filthy. The refrigerator did not work and smelled of mold (room 211). Later that evening, while getting dressed for an event, an adult cockroach climes down the wall. I killed it. I then proceeded to look inside of the sheets and mattress, to which I found a very large, very adult bed bug. I immediately went down and let the attendant know; to which he responded, “so the roach is dead?” Like, no big deal! I then showed him the picture of the bedbug.-again, no surprise. He stated the best he could do was move me rooms. Due to game day weekend, and no availability of rooms, I moved rooms-at 10:30 pm. There is more; but I am at character capacity…I would advise NOT to stay here under any circumstances.

The Howard Johnson name by Wyndham should not be on this Hotel, the room walls were filthy with indescribable stains, grime and fluids, the towels had stains the pillow cases were dingy. the elevator had fingerprints left on the walls as if the elevator hadn't been cleaned ever, my room windows were uncleaned with smears. the only Pro was the price I guess you get what you pay for.
