Hotel Moloka’i is a nice place to spend some time at. Location is incredible and also close to the major town that offers breakfast, lunch and a couple of grocery stores. The staff is amazing. Always polite and helpful. Rooms are however run down and the fact that the hotel doesn’t serve breakfast is definitely a minus. Restaurant options are also very limited. It would be nice if the beach in front of the hotel was cleaned up and sorted as it is amazing but the smell and the rotten seaweed kills the atmosphere.
I would love to review the property …. But unfortunately my flight there was on Mokulele Airlines (the only air carrier that flies there) and they grounded all their flights for days due to negligence of maintenance. Shame on them for wrecking our vacation and not offering us any compensation other than a refund. Shame shame shame on them.
The hotel is not updated and in poor condition
It was a great trip and the people that worked there were fantastic. Restaurant with live music right on the water was best on the island.
Lovely location and helpful, friendly staff. Will go back!
Excellent hotel with great restaurant and bar beautiful views
Molokai
Only hotel in Molokai.
Lovely experience- super friendly staff and pleasant accommodations
Hôtel Moloka’i is wonderful and the staff are very friendly
Hotel Moloka’i
Older hotel rooms, but very clean. Restaurant only open for breakfast Saturdays and Sundays lunch and dinner most days. On a small beach but not swim able.
Service was exceptional!
Property is fine very low key
Moloka’i bring the aloha
Excellent staff at the front desk and poolside
Relaxing stay at Hotel Molokai
Molokai is a lovely island. The Hotel is just 5 minutes drive from town and peaceful and relaxing.
Old but well kept. Was happy to have AC in the room. Close to town. Would definitely stay there again.
Rooms were somewhat dirty.Dining was limited.Beach was muddy. No good snorkeling options.
Old but Hawaiian
Good stay
Very good, but a little tired!
Excellent location overlooking the ocean. The restaurant has an unbeatable view, great atmosphere and food and friendly staff. Room was very comfortable and clean. Wonderful place to stay on Molokai.
Bye Bye Hotel Molokai
Bye Bye Hotel Molokai! In honor of my mom who taught me, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all!"
Staff is friendly. There is on property dining for lunch and dinner. Rooms need updating and better spot cleaning. Not many lodging options in the area other than condos.
Horrible Hotel Molokai!
Horrible Hotel Molokai! I was there in January and the Stench from the seaweed, sargassum, was unbearable! It upset your stomach! The managment either does NOT understand Customer Service, or does NOT care! The room had a "Creepy" feel to it. Something on the toilet near the handle...Gross! NO ALOHA SPIRIT at Hotel Molokai! :-(
Old hawaii feeling
1st visit to Molokai. Hotel was great for a quick island *checkout*. Nice apartment tyoe grounds layout and rooms. Wife LOVED the mattress. Solid food and cocktail service, modest but adequate pool and grounds. Appreciated the coin laundry. Would recommend and might return. Much more to see on Molokai.
Staff was real nice!!
Our waterfront unit was just that - within a few feet of very calm ocean waves. The onsite restaurant/bar was outstanding: the food, service, location, drinks and entertainment. the only complaint is that the a/c unit in the room was too small to get the temp down to where we like it.
Very nice staff.
Roosters start crowing a little early!
Our stay was great. The only thing out of the hotel's control is the roosters crowing at 3 AM. Little rough - until I started sleeping with earbuds.
Sweet island living!!! oh, need to rid the chickens around the place. they came too close to us as we sat on our lanai.
For an older hotel, the have done a great job of making it very comfortable.
The ocean front dining was incredible and the food was fantastic but the onsite restaurant does not let you charge to your room. The room was small and needs to be renovated. The property is otherwise well kept and clean.
The genral feel of Aloha here. Not a commercialized tourist trap. Very laid back. Best food is Paddlers and Molokai puzza cafe. Be sure to go say hi at to Wailani at Something for Everybody..she is warm sunshine and the nicest person we met!! Her dad also does tours of the waterfall!!! Across the street you will find home made gifts made by local hawaiian artist atMolokai Art from the heart. We used the Hotel Molakai shuttle service and the driver was friendly and kind he also had good insight on local happenings!! Dinner and drinks are phenomenal at the hotel resturant and bar..I recommend the strawberry margarita (salted) or Aulani's famous long island iced tea!!! Mahalo nui loa Hotel Molokai!!! Come visit Arcata California soon!!
Such a quaint and lovely place! Will stay again!
For it being the only hotel available it was really very nice. The restaurant was fair. The staff and people of Molokai are very nice. Molokai is worth the trip and you can’t go wrong at this hotel.
This is a very nice property.Peaceful, beautiful scenery. The only suggestion i would have is a queen bed so there could be a little more room.
There are only 2 hotels on the island. The Molo’Kai Hotel is great. The restaurant has a nice bar and only serves dinner. The food was excellent. The king size bed was extremely comfortable. Room was well appointed with coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave, and even an ironing board and iron. Everyone was friendly. I recommend hiring a local guide to show you the sights. We did not rent a car. The roads can be very narrow and a bit treacherous. We did not have a chance to swim in their pool or go down to the beach which the restaurant overlooks. I would definitely go there again.
Lovely place to stay
The grounds, location and view were all wonderful. The food at the restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. The view of the ocean from the restaurant was fantastic. The staff were all friendly and helpful.
I didnot stay here as expedia search said this hotel is in maui bit did not show the address of hopel upon checkout. I googled and searched after booking and found it to be in a different island. I called expedia within 3 mins of booking and they said they cannot help me shame on expeida for doing a lousy job here and not able to fix their mistakes.
Excellent
The staff were friendly!
The water was out when we arrived and the staff didn't have a plan for us to get any water.
The hotel staff were wonderful especially front desk and security. Please recognize them. Mahalo.
I am a Native Hawaiian born and raised on the island of Kauai. I was in Molokai for a family funeral. My stay here was horrible. This hotel isn’t worth $250/night and up. The grounds are run down, with wood rot. Our balcony door couldn’t even slide open. The property is situated next to privately owned land and the first night there, they had a 5-band concert going until 1:45am. When I asked the front desk about a partial refund for that one night, they gave me the run around, said I should have cracked open a bee and
It is one of only a handful of places to stay on Molokai so basically you have no choice.
Nice Hawaii experience. Warm tropical.. excellent fresh pineapple 🍍
Don't look for posh lodgings. Great view of water from beachfront rooms, but rooms are dated. Adding one more chair to each room would make a difference in comfort if it's raining.
No electricity in the kitchen area.
Property very old and no improvements. Just seems to be hanging on. Staff were friendly. Restaurant was good. No room service if your stay is less than 5 days. Our room was clean and acceptable. As we came to learn it is the only hotel on the island which explains the unfortunate high room rates.
Hotel Moloka'i was fantastic. Service was exceptional, and the rooms were clean and tidy. Our stay was lovely.
The room was comfortable and nice, very convenient. Just a little hot; would have been nice to have air conditioning
The staff is so friendly. They go out of their way to make you comfortable. The hotel is older but it’s “old Hawaii” feel is just perfect. The gift shop is reopening soon and the restaurant will be under going a remodel. I want to return next year because I’m sure things will be even better.
Wonderful setting and an Old Hotel well preserved. Cute units with wonderful mattresses!
Great old-school spot
Great old-school spot. The room was dated but well maintained and unique. The bed was very comfortable. Can't beat the location. The attached restaurant is the best food on the island: be aware it closes early (like everything on Molokai).
Nice place to stay on Molokai, convenient location central to other areas on the island. Rooms are basic, but meets your needs. Molokai isn’t Maui, so adjust your expectation. Staff are very friendly and willing to help. Downside was their restaurant was closed on Monday, which I understand, everyone needs a day off. Where the Hotel might help is keeping a list of what is open on which days. Overall, I was satisfied.
Swimming pool and food good
Small and intmate, beds were comfortable. Love the nostalgic style of the accomodations. Quiet and clean
Finally made it to Molokai!
There are only two hotels to choose from in the twin on Molokai. But this one has an on site restaurant which is nice to have. I enjoyed my stay, 3 nights. I had never been to Molokai and the staff was helpful telling me about food and stores locally and also what to see while on Molokai.
Super great little place. We had 3 adults and 2 kids fit comfortably in a room with 3 beds. No AC but good drafts from the screens. Beds were super comfy. Food at the restaurant was delicious with live music. Beach access and the pool was perfect. Mango trees with freshly fallen mangos. Beautiful grounds. Would definitely stay here again.
Decrepit!
I will stay here again.
Great place to unwind and enjoy Molokai!
Best hotel on the island! Also, the only hotel on the island . . . so there's no incentive to beat the competition. The wifi is circa 1995, so don't bring your laptop. If you like a nice cup of coffee in the morning, bring your own coffee, as they offer only in-room (really lousy) coffee. No breakfast or lunch served at the restaurant. Dinner is pretty good, but if you're planning on bringing a special bottle of wine, forget it - - they don't offer the option of paying a corkage fee to drink your own wine. And their wine list is kinda sad. That said, the place is quirky in a way you'd expect for Molokai, and the views from the ocean front rooms are spectacular. The live music at the restaurant is good to very good, and the staff are friendly and aim to please. Really no surprises here, this is Molokai - - all the upsides and downsides of the island are represented at the hotel. And yes, I'd stay there again.
Not one building style.
Quiet
👍
Hotel Molokai
The room I had booked was the most expensive room on the property, this was for my wife’s birthday and I wanted her to have the best experience at this hotel, that being said when we got to the hotel they gave us a room and upon inspection I found out they made a mistake, this was not the room I booked, I went to the front desk immediately and told them they gave me the wrong room, I showed the manager the pictures of the room I booked and had paid for but he could care less and blamed Expedia for the photos they had put on Hotels.com for the room I booked didn’t match the room I paid for, even though the room that I booked was at the hotel, the manager said they were all reserved so take the room we are giving you or you’re out of luck. Please see pictures I am posting from what I booked to what I got, extremely disappointed!!!
Beds super comfortable. Stop with the masks and restrictions already. Most of the country has caught on to this hoax.
Staff was rude
Our unit was great for a short stay. If we stayed longer we would ask for a unit with a table or desk and perhaps a comfortable chair. Loved the property.
Because of last minute booking during a busy week, our room was a disappointment. Quite small with no views and one small window. The hotel is very nice especially if you reserve a room overlooking the water. Views are amazing!! Sunsets and sunrises.
Great location. Very clean
Very Poor cell phone reception
Clean, well kept and low key. Most employees reasonably friendly. Close to town. Good place!
Great hotel! Cute property and right on the beach. Food was delicious! Staff were friendly and welcoming!
The staff at the front desk is one of the friendliest that I have ever encountered. The challenge that the Hotel Molokai has is some of the worst WIFI service that I have ever experienced and the wild roosters roaming the property crowing at all hours of the day AND night
The real Hawaii experience
Hunting on Moloka’i in luxury!!!
Everyone was very sweet and helpful. Hotel spotless. All requests fulfilled.
Some good...some bad.
Pool was clean. AC worked well. Sheets were clean and bed fairly comfy. Dinner at the restaurant was very good with live entertainment on a Sunday night. Beach not for relaxing on. Ocean front smelled bad. Would have appreciated knowing one needs reservations for dinner. Restaurant not always open. Groceries not within walking distance. Rental car needed.
Very close to the Kaunakakai, with an immediate access to the main highway 450. The property hosts a restaurant Hiros’s Ohana Grill, where you can have a good food, so that you are covered in terms of meals (except whole day Monday when they are closed). Overall, I recommend this place.
Paradise Dreams
Amazing
Did not match photos or description, sheets were dirty
Not good
Lovely welcome
Great customer service and great beds.
We found the Hotel a bit older but very nice and kept up well. The grounds and pool were just right for the setting and the on-site restaurant served a good dinner. Wi-fi was a bit marginal. The location is about as central as you can get on Molokai. While the Hotel is on the water this is really just a small strip of sand and not a swim-able area but a great view and good sunset. I am very glad we stayed here rather that in a condo on the west end. A rental car is a must on the island.
Front desk staff was so helpful and kind! We had the Sunday breakfast at the property which was very good! We ate dinner there as well which was also a good meal with live music. A great spot to see the beautiful view while sitting in the hammocks ! Very quiet and tranquil , overall a good stay !
Excellent restaurant and friendly staff. We enjoyed the live music nightly in the restaurant. Pool area was also inviting. This is an older hotel but it was clean and the location next to the shoreline was beautiful. Grounds were lovely.
Best place to stay on Molokai.
I liked how the property was very quaint and quite. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
The views, pool and restaurant were great
This is a lovely place to relax ~
This is a lovely place to relax. Very quiet, the staff are kind. There is an excellent restaurant just steps from your room. I would return ~
Wonderful place to stay! Friendly staff, quite place to unwind and relax. Great musician in the evening at the restaurant on property
Molokai Mo Bettah!
Good hospitality and restaurant on the grounds. Stayed here allot.. have always the best stay here.
Great location friendly accommodating staff
The location is great
Excellent location!
The property is quaint and the staff is excellent. It is very rural, but very close to the small town.
People are wonderful and helpful.
Bugs everywhere
Ants covered the table in the room. Dead cockroach on the floor in the bathroom which clearly has not been cleaned in a long time. The soap scum in the shower turned the stainless steel white. Tub was full of water, hair and sand when we got there. Hurt my finger trying to open the balcony door. Charge an amenity fee for no amenities! The WiFi did not work. The phone did not work. There were no beach chairs since the beach is definitely not one to sit on. Only amenity was beach towels! Front desk did not care at all. The restaurant isn’t open everyday and there’s not many places to eat on Molokai. Definitely need a car. Plenty of free parking. Would not go back to Molokai or this hotel.

Get away to Moloka'i
We have lived on Oahu and wated to see parts of the islands we have not seen. Moloka'i is beautiful! More importantly, we felt like a welcomed part of the community from the moment we met our driver who transported us to the hotel ( shoutout to Moloka'i Outdoors) to check in through our stay. The nightly local musicians at the restaurant were all wonderful and the view of the sunset is awe inspiring!
