While the price was good for this hotel, there was no parking around that didn’t have you walking your suitcase through Brussels. It was located on the outskirts of the seedy area of Brussels and has major construction in front of it.
Very Good for the price
We stayed for one night, and it was very good, the reservation process was very easy and the place is very close from metro station, so it was very convenient.
This is a budget hotel but very very acceptable. Very clean, friendly staff, very good location if you are traveling by train from Brussels Midi. I recommend the breakfast. The price of food in Brussels is very high so this inexpensive buffet breakfast makes it a perfect addition to your stay
Nice but needs tlc
An urgent stay due to travel delay Easy to find, near the station Easy to checkin but the shower was in poor repair
.
I have been to many hotels and hostels in the past three months. and I cannot recall much about my stay here and that is why I rated it average.
There was bed bugs in my room, big one actually. Room vas old, furniture, wall damaged And persistent cigarette smoke smell I stay more than 200 nights a year in hotels over the last 10 years. That one is amongst my worst one. Even youth hostel are better maintained
Great
Nice friendly place to stay
Book that hotel for my mum for 1 night. Was a bit reluctant due to some review but i gonna tell you this place is just amazing and you even get more for the price. The room was splendid, bed and shower 10/10. Staffs were so friendly. Will definitely rexommend this hotel and if returning to bruxelle will book again
Centrally located, conveniently next to MIDI Brussels train station, and walking distance to good restaurants, historic sites and museums
The workers were nice and checked in easy , room was good
Everything was good.
The hotel is just minutes from Midi-Zuid station which makes it easily accessible (although the area around it is being extensively renovated The room was ok and the bathroom clean and tidy The expected air-conditioning was non-existent - the unit on the wall did not work and a useless and noisy fan was its supposed replacement (which did nothing except move the already uncomfortably warm air around) Many of the TV channels did not actually have any signal Relatively cheap and basic
Excellent shower. Lots of road works outside currently.
Would stay again
Had everything i needed and added bonus they had the fan on in the room on arrival and room was ready early Much appreciated by an already overheating Scot
The property in itself was great for what you needed. Had a large very clean room family for was able to sleep comfortably...could have taken five. But the stores next to the property have trash dumps right in front of them. If it's a place to rest your head at night ..perfect. Walking distance from Brussel MIDI
Comfortable and convenient stay
Not so good. Photos and hotel explanation are much better than actual experience
Great simple clean hotelroom
I booked a simple, single room and everything was as expected.
Basic hotel.
Very basic single room. Extremely hot in the room, so window leading to small yard always open, leading to me getting bitten by insects at night. Good value, but shut the window!
Shower flooded and reception used ten towels to soak up the water. Area was very noisy - impossible to sleep. Checked out at 04:45 and took earlier train.
Nice hotel close to Brussels Midi station. friendly staff
Aircon in our room didn’t work, so was really warm the entire time. Unable to keep door in our room open due to noise outside, but room overall was good other than this. Good size bathroom, plenty of space. We did leave a Do Not Disturb sign on the door and our room was still cleaned despite this on our second day. They didn’t on the third, so not sure what happened there. Close to Metro and Midi station, only downside is that there are roadworks outside and also street outside is filthy which isn’t the hotels fault
The radiator in the bathroom could not be turned off which made the entire room very hot. Had to have the window open all night which meant it was very noisy. The area surrounding the hotel was quite dirty. Otherwise, the staff were helpful and the facilities were sufficient. Would have liked a kettle.
Not recommended for solo women travelers
Cheaper hotel in Brussels (but still more than I would have liked to pay) so I stayed here. It's about a 20-minute walk to the main attractions in the area. Walking back alone in the evening as a woman, I felt more on edge than I have in other cities. I checked in during the evening and the receptionist was very hostile. I am never one to check hotel sheets but I did this time and they were visibly dirty. I took a picture to show the receptionist and I asked for new sheets and offered to make up the bed myself. At first, he refused, and when I showed him the photo, he started screaming at me in another language as he went to get me the new sheets. The other receptionists during my stay all seemed friendly and I had no further issues but that first receptionist really tainted the stay and made me feel so uncomfortable and unsafe that I considered leaving. The room itself is not too clean. The AC doesn't work at all and I noticed is full of dust.
The room and public areas were very clean. The staff at the check-in and check-out were both very friendly. I very much appreciated their hospitality.
Place to rest your heads
Not to impressed with location because there was a lot of construction going on. The Main Street was all torn up. Didn't feel safe exploring the area. Close enough to transport an to get into the main area of Brussels. Overall it was just a place to rest our heads. Clean and nice but not happy with the area.
Scruffy outside but OK inside. Older and decent condition, needs a deep clean and touch-ups to be better. Bed good, bathroom & shower as rest of unit. Restaurants nearby, walk to trains. Good for a cheaper overnight.
Fine stay
Handily located for station. Busy area. Hotel comfortable. Staff helpful.
Darkness my old friend
We needed a place for one night, and this was perfect. The check in time being early, the blackout shades, and a comfy bed saved us since we'd been up for over 24 hours and needed a place to rest and recharge.
Chambre sans fenêtre donnant à l'extérieur et sans climatisation. Chaleur étouffante. Cependant personnel gentil.
This isn't at first glance a very promising hotel: it's old and not in a good neighbourhood and the room was tiny. But it's cheap and quiet and the bed was comfortable and the showers and wifi worked well, and it's a few minutes walk from the Midi/Zuid station
Enjoyed my overall stay at the Hotel Midi Zuid. The Hotel room was clean, compact, and conveniently located to the city of Brussels with nearby transport. The hotel staff were friendly. However at times, during early hours, it was not quiet.
Excellent clean tidy safe very hygienic
No aircon, constant smell of cigarettes smoke, no proper window, just a window looking out onto a small atrium.
Nice staff and good room. Only issue is the access and the amount of construction around the hotel makes it difficult to get to and very noisy.
The room I stayed in was tiny and I would not recommend it under any circumstance. There is no air conditioning. The floor of the room was flooded after my shower even though I closed the shower door properly. Front desk employees were very friendly and welcoming. The location is just a five minute walk from Brussels Midi Station, allowing train, bus, Metro access to pretty much anywhere.
No aircon and no bar
Walkable distance from Brussels Zuid Midi train station. Close to buses too. Good value for the money. Has breakfast if you need it. There's a small convenience store next to the hotel so you can get ice or snacks or other small items. It's not the newest fanciest place but the value for the money is good.
Good value for money
It was great: a room on the quiet side with a view, so construction works in front of the hotel were no problem. The room was well maintained, very clean and comfortable; reception nice and accommodating.
Very helpful staff, they let me check in a earlier than the time and the cleaner went straight to my room so I could have it earlier. The room was clean but had an unpleasant smell, was on a very small and dirty internal courtyard so I guess it doesn't get much air circulation. Ok for the price and being so close to the station.
Outdated picture.
Room pictures were quite misleading and room was quite old and dated.
Forced to arrive in Brussels one day early from Germany because of strikes . Very convenient to Brussels Midi Station . Area not fantastic but never felt unsafe there . Hotel was safe and clean enough .
I have stayed at this hotel numerous times and have always found it a pleasurable stay. Great location, great facilities, friendly staff and clean comfortable rooms.
Very near to train station Midi Zuid Brussels
Ok hotel, but very tired.
Hotel reception staff were helpful, and check in was quick and easy. Room was very small, the shower even smaller, which was in the corner of tge room. Room was very warm, bed was comfortable, but rooms and hotel in general is VERY tired and needs updating. Be aware, huge roadworks ongoing directly outside of the hotel.
Out of all the places I've stayed over about 2 months of travelling, this was the worst. It is squalid. The shower, toilet and sink were not located in anything you could describe as a bathroom. The sink was in the tiny bedroom, the shower was a tiny cubicle in an alcove in the bedroom and the toilet was like another tiny cubicle. Turning a tap on resulted in a gut-wrenching stink of drains in the room which lacked proper ventilation. There were no power sockets nor light switches next to the bed. The bed was amongst the smallest and most uncomfortable I've ever slept in. The door rattled very loudly, necessitating me jamming a piece of card in it so that I could sleep. With another guest shouting into his phone right outside my door regularly, sleep was elusive. My door entry card was only initially enabled for 1 night (error by receptionist) and the lift was not working on my last day. With heavy luggage and a narrow, winding stairway with thread-bear carpet, littered with cigarette ends, this end to my stay really summed up this truly awful experience. Avoid!
The location was good. It is near the train station and close to the city center.
Basic & clean.Covenient enough. Happy to back
For the price, it was a good place. Convenient enought for me. {near gare du midi} and about 18 minutes walk to the main square. Not my faforite location {not a glamorous location, but not bad either. A few aldult store near by, but it didnt scare me ;) ... but again, for the price I was ok with it. Basic room, but clean... clean floor { no carpet in the room...{ what I love} no view from my room, but confortable and clean. basic but ok. helpful staf.
Really friendly staff and room very clean, area not so brilliant and major works taking place
Close to the train station and good for a short stay.
Unfortunately the location wasn’t good, it felt unsafe, the rooms were dirty and outdated. Overall I don’t recommend this place to anyone and I think Expedia should remove them as a partner.
I asked to change room because the space between the linens and the mattress was dirty. I got a much better room, totally clean. The only problem was its proximity to the reception, and therefore, noisy in the morning.
It was ok…
I booked a room with hot drink making facilities - a kettle, cups, tea bags - I paid extra for this, but none of this was present in my room upon arrival, I asked at the front desk for a kettle, which was kindly found for me, but it seemed what I’d booked wasn’t an option, so why was it available to book on the website!? The rooms are very close together, so it was loud at times! The lift door almost opens straight onto the stairs! I had what I’m assuming was beard hair/trimmings left uncleared in my bathroom sink, but overall, the wifi was good and the room served its purpose!
Good location close to the main train and bus station friendly staff good value for the money
Get a room anywhere else if you can!
1. The elevator was under maintenance and I was given a room on the 6th (topmost) floor. The staircase is built in such a cramped space and is quite steep, you can't even set your entire foot on each stair, good luck carrying your heavy luggage upstairs! 2. The air conditioning in my room wasn't working. When I pointed it out to the receptionist guy, his words were: "it is very fresh outside now, it gets cold at night anyhow". (And while he said all of this, he couldn't look into my eyes properly) 3. The television did not have signal 4. The walls had patches of unfinished plastering 5. The bathroom (a verry tiny space) glass door did not close completely and didn't have a lock. Hence it was slightly open all the time and you would worry of wetting the room floor all the time while taking a shower 6. Overall, the room wasn't super clean or well maintained. When you pay a decent amount of money for a comfortable stay, these things matter. But the management at this hotel seem to only make money and care less about their guests. Too long didn't read: won't recommend at all!
CENTRAL LOCATION INFESTED WITH BED BUGS
Arrival checkin was fast and easy. The air conditioning did not work in the room and when i opened the window all i could smell was smoke coming from other rooms. THE ROOM, 103, WAS INFESTED WITH BED BUGS, I HAVE BITES ALLLLLL OVER MY BODY. OVER 100 OF THEM. WHAT A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, I FELT THEM SWELLING AND ITCHING A SHORT 12 HOURS AFTER I WOKE UP THE NEXT MORNING. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO FUTURE TRAVELERS
It was a lovely stay. One of the receptionists was very helpful, kind and made an effort finding my id.
Nice rooms, only problem was that the mattress was too big for the bed frame. Friendly staff.
Location is pretty look. Near to Brussels Midi Zuid. During 1-2 days, there was issue of Wifi which was not working, but later it was resolved. thanks to Hotel Staff Members.
The elevator was too creepy and the room was too small. Noisy street. Rats in front of the property.
Reasonable room, terrible WiFi
Convenient walk from main train station. Bed was comfortable, room size good, bathroom was cute. My issue was that while traveling from abroad, their WiFi was non-functional--I brought it to their attention but nothing was done about it--it was frustrating to say the least.
Good location
Location is good, just 5-7 min walk to the North train station (eruostar and other train station). There are supermarket, restaurants nearby.
Close to the station, perfect!
Great location!
Last minute reservation. V easy access to Midi, ciean and simple room, helpful staff.
shower in the bedroom not in the bathroom. Room very small no window
Room was fine except that the AC unit didn't work. The room didn't cool down at night and it was difficult to sleep.
The part I did not lke was the room as it appears that the air conditioning was not working and so it was to hot to sleep. A lack of light in the room. I like the staff who were friendly, breakfast was okay and the en-suite facilites in my room were good and clean.
Very central. Lovely shower. Lift a little small but ok. Breakfast nice.
Really convenient for Brussels Zuid Station, an old hotel refurbished with basic rooms and thin walls but clean and functional, recently redecorated, helpful staff and super location for trains, Eurostar, Metro and Tram.... I've stayed before and will probably stay again.
Don't stay here
Staying here made me think Brussels was an old run down place. Until I went to the city center. The staff offered no assistance to us as first time travelers to Belgium.
Very noisy, hard to get a decent nights sleep. Otherwise good value in a useful location
No functioning A/C and the radiator couldn't be turned off. Location is super loud. No shampoo for shower, bed very uncomfortable. Staff is very friendly and competent but the hotel just has bigger issues than they can fix. Needs some serious renovations.
There was a blackout. Electricity was not restored until the next morning.
The room was smelled nice and looked clean. Bathroom was clean. Have no complains at all.
Riding the elevator was quite the experience! Breakfast included freshly cooked sunny-side up eggs which was a big bonus. Staff at check-in and luggage drop off were very helpful. Staff were also very knowledgavle about the area.
A plan of the immediate neighbourhood issued on-line would make the place easier to find.
Convenient Location
I booked this hotel last minute as the Eurostar service from Brussels to London got cancelled due to a person being hit by a train. For this reason, there was no time to think about where to book - I decided mainly on price and location which is very convenient as it's close to the Zuid/Midi station. The staff are polite and professional. The hotel itself is quite dated but it has been spruced up somewhat. The room itself is clean with a shower cabin and sink inside the room and a separate room for the toilet. The furniture/furnishing is dated but clean and fairly comfortable. The are around the hotel is very convenient but not the most vibrant. There are some ring roads that you have to cross to get to the eateries and shops and it's fairly down at heel - but cheap. It could be quite seedy as there are sex shops and sex clubs around but even at nighttime (Sunday night) it felt fairly safe.
Near to Midi train station and 15 minutes walk to Grand Place
Lots of rust on bathroom radiator. Old and tired room.
Central location and good service
Decent hotel but terrible location
Didn't realise the area was not good at all at the time of booking otherwise would have booked elsewhere.
Enjoyed my stay
Great location good service reasonable price I will come back again
Only use this hotel as a last resort.
The night shift reception clerk was rude. I told him the aircon in our room was not working and he replied: "Its already October (we checked in Oct 3) so Brussels is not that hot anymore so we dont provide airconditioning anymore. What country are you from??"
Nope
Hotel Midi-Zuid is very near the station. It's also very near a wide variety of beggars, panhandlers, major roads and is next door to a somewhat questionable looking sauna. Location aside, the staff are friendly and helpful but that really can't make up for just how crappy the decor, fittings and fixtures of the hotel are. The lift is a mechanical nightmare and I'd recommend avoiding. My room was fairly clean but decrepit - the lights didn't work properly nor did the fan in the bathroom. Avoid.
+ nice location + comfy bed +nice showers -none of the plugs worked -the remote control for tv didn't work -the staff member made a big fold in my passport :S
They just need to put the A/C on the room and everything will be set
Overall ,it’s close to train station . The room has basics. The only problem is the shower water drain too slow and it back up easily flooding out to the floor.
Well located , near midi station Rooms clean, just been renovated
Brief stay
Short walk to the Brussels Midi station. The staff were friendly and the room was spacious. I would definitely recommend it.
Reasonable price and good location near train station
Overall good.
Location good
Really shocking
I'm a seasoned traveller and have stayed at many hotels near train stations before. However this is a real shocker. It is situated next to a gay sauna, means it is very noisy at night I spoke a number of times by noises. It is also incredibly warm inside the room - due to the sauna next door (I was sweating in a bed, and it was only about 8° C outside). The air conditioning was broken, so you have to open the windows, there is a balcony from the gay sauna directly next to the hotel, so then you get smoking coming into your room. The area is really not safe at night and you shouldn't leave the hotel on your own after dark. The taxi driver warned me this area is particularly dangerous. The customer service is appalling, and asked for some help my room and just got shouting from the manager Honestly, you can easily stay somewhere the same price a bit from the train station and just get a taxi to the train station in the morning.
Overpriced
I did not feel welcomed by the staff. The aircon in my room didn’t work for all nights I’ve stayed. And it was very hot. The room was too dark - no light from the window, when I switch on lights - still looks not enough. My opinion - this hotel is overpriced, not worth the money I’ve paid.
Clean safe hotel right beside Midi-Station
Stayed for 3 nights on business. Clean simple room - good modern shower, excellent fast free wifi in the room (floor 6). No frills hotel refurbished fairly recently - walls and door a bit thin so noisy neighbours might trouble light sleepers but fine for me. Friendly reception staff - would stay again.
Room hotel was noisy and for the price of the room we didnt have view at all. Good location near train station and the room was clean.
Does what it says on the tin
Hotel is cheap and clean and is what you expect for the money. It is however next door to a gay sex club which seems very busy so lots of noise from the street plus there is a lot of traffic noise and train noise. There are also a lot of people hanging about outside at all hours but they do not bother you. For a one night stay this is fine but personally I won’t go back.
Worse night ever. Front desk helpless
Was very bad experience, the main problem was that I asked for king bed not 2 doouble bed2put together cause I have back condition and I need decent mattress. They have 2 double bed put together and cover by 1 inch mattress on them 2 double beds so 0 ZERO COMFORT. I DIDNT SLEEP
Close to the train station
The bed was comfortable and the room was warm. However, lift was small and problematic to operate.
