We had a room with private bathroom. It was exactly what we expected. Clean bathroom, comfortable bed. Location is perfect. Nearby Sagrada Familia and two Gaudi houses. Subway and busses few minutes away. Very nice staff. Overall good experience.
Walkable to the center. Comfortable stay with the free water dispenser which is very convenient.
Checked all my boxes for a comfortable stay
This was the first hostel I’ve stayed at so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. This place obviously isn’t luxurious but it checked all the boxes I was looking for on my solo trip: comfortable bed, private room, bathroom access, affordable price. To add to this, the location is phenomenal. About a 10 minute walk to Sagrada Familia in one direction or Casa Mila in the other, with lots of public transportation options and restaurants within walking distance. I would recommend this for anyone looking for an affordable, comfortable, and convenient place to stay
Perfect nice simple clean room. As a single women felt safe in the area and within easy reach of attractions and metro to airport. Reception helpful and courteous. Would stay again when in Barcelona
Good quality price ratio
The rooms are basic and small, but quiet and tidy. Considering it was billed as a two-star hotel, we were more than happy with our stay
Mi estancia fue muy agradable las personas que me atendieron especialmente Mireya me asesoro con mucha imformacion que hizo posible que mi estancia y recorrido por la ciudad fuera excelente gracias yunior
Dirty
Property itself was a little run down, but staff is great and very friendly!!
Location is convenient as you can walk to Sagrada Familia and other famous spots. But only cold shower was available on the first day…
Nice people cheap accommodation
Cheap minimal accommodation. Staff street friendly and helpful
Absolutely lovely stay at the Hostal Felipe II. The front desk staff were very warm and welcoming and it was such a perfect size room with A/C and TV, with a comfy bed. I will absolutely stay here again when I visit the city next time.
Personnel sympathique.
We enjoyed our time here! Beds were comfortable (though the bed sheets were a little scratchy) and the AC worked well. The property is split into two floors, each had one bathroom with a toilet and shower. Only issue was that the door to the main floor (3rd) was locked after about 10pm and none of the keys we were given (we stayed on the 4th floor) opened that door. This meant we only had access to one bathroom/shower from 10pm-9am and didn't have access to the water dispenser (which was on the main floor). Became a bit of an issue if you needed to use the bathroom and someone was showering in the morning, or if you wanted to drink fresh water (the tap water in our room didn't taste right). Otherwise we enjoyed it!
The lift to get up to the room with a bag was very awkward and small. The room was ao tiny the door opened onto the bedside cabinet. The window opened out onto the communal hallway with the lift being very noisy constantly till late at night. The cleaner was very noisy at 8am outside the rooms. The bed had just a sheet and a blanket. The room was very tired.
Great stay!
Great hostel for the price. Staff very friendly and always ready to help. Cleaning service every day. Perfect stay with everything Barcelona has to offer in walking distance
Good location, rooms are clean and as expected. Friendly staff. Might need more directions how to find it - since it occupies only 1 floor in the building.
Very old building where hostal is on 3rd and 4th floors. Small room with very small and outdated moldy bath. Lift is with double doors (wooden and metal) and both should be closed before lift can go. Absolutely not accessible for wheelchair as there are more than 10 stairs before you can use lift. Had to ask face towels for everyone because got just one for 3 of us. One change of beddings for 7 nights stay. Our stay here was more expensive than stay in Madrid but very basic and disappointing.
Not what we expected
We booked this Hostal in the middle of a long list of other Spanish Hostals, but this was by far the worst. The room smelled of mildew really bad. The blanket also smelled and the sheets were so worn that they were pilling up. We were there is February, but had to keep the windows open so we could breathe. Every other Hostal that we stayed in on our trip was a million times better- including the Hostal Hera we stayed at our second night in Barcelona. Do yourself a favor and avoid this one.
The place was great, with friendly and helpfull staff. The building is older, it's pretty comfortable and has all you need. Location is great, especially for the price we paid. The only minuses are slow Internet and not so good pillows. Overall, great stay.
Everything was good. Friendly staff. Daily house keeping. Great location next to L4 and L5 metro lines. Filtered hot and cold water. Unique old style elevator. Bring ear plugs if sensitive to noise. It is an old building and you may hear the water flowing through pipes at night.
Barcelona week
Great location, friendly and accommodating and comfortable All staff helpful and really enjoyed staying here, I look forward to returning here again Thank you
Best hostel I have ever stayed in. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our private room with a bathroom had a small balcony with a great view. The location in the city center can’t be beat.
Comfortable stay
Comfortable stay. Good shower, comfortable bed. Mini fridge was appreciated. Room on 4th floor but lift available.
Very comfortable, great location
Very comfortable and clean, good amenities, great location near the bus V19 to go to the beach or to Park Güell. The area is close to everything: grocery stores, ramblas and paseos (main avenues) and tourist attractions. Very friendly and helpful staff. I strongly recommend it.
My experience was great, I was there for one night, and everything went smoothly
Receptionist was fantastic and very helpful and friendly!
nice people, good location
staff a bit abrupt and tried to make you pay entirely by cash when it's clear they take card. I didn't have cash so it took 10 minutes of fighting with them. Other than that, safe, simple, hostel. Clean room and AC works great.
The receptionist Paolo was very unfriendly, rude, discriminatory and he yelled at me when I first entered the building. I payed for 2 nights, 3 days but the first impression was so bad I had to leave in less than 5 minutes since he was so rude and I felt so scared I left the keys right at the entrance and left to find another hotel. I would have rather lost the money than spend a single hour in that hotel.
Location is very good. Clean and well air conditioned. Needs some renovations. Shared bathroom with other guests was the worst.
I stayed at Hostal Felippe 25 days. Only things at did not like ..my sink in my room did not work. Good location ,lot to see , clean place . If You coming from airport ..take the Express Aerobus to Catalinya Placa only 5.95 EUR. and You are in Centre...Later walk from there or hire taxi to just go around. Regular taxi from airport around 38,00 EUR.
The room was clean
WE à Barcelone
Good located and less expensive. Is near main touristic attractions such us La Dagrada Familia cathedral
Cockroaches, no window on room that turned out on the spot. The fact that the room reserved is without a window was not stated on the website!!! Loud, no good for resting.
September
Great location, in between Park Guell & Sagrada church (which I found out by walking around) Shared bathroom which wasn't a problem, also one on the floor up. Bathrooms, floors super clean. I could walk barefoot no problem. Building of apartments, offices & 2 floors of the hostal. My room was by the elevator, stairs and the office which was LOUD. I heard the phones ringing and the staff talking and people in the lobby & outside my window. The rooms are very close tho I had a private room I could hear all conversations. People need to whisper & talk softer! My ac had a high button which helped to block out the noise but it only stays on for 15 minutes then all night I would have to press the button to turn back on. Staff was helpful with shuttle & help needed.
great location, small room
Room was very small, two single beds and bathroom with shower. room was cleaned daily, room had smell of mold.. tv, fan in room. overall amazing location. average 40 minute walk to many clubs downtown area 1 minute walk to beach area with boardwalk.
the room not the same as the images in the net... and they havent anything to warm up the meal or cook
Super
The hotel îs near metro, nice view.
Highly recommend
Friendly and helpful staff- great location and lounge.
I love Mireya, excellent work. The place very very noisy. You can hear all the voices in the building. Ubicated on 3rd floor, very uncomfortable. I suggest to say the reality before like: Noisy place, third floor, etc.
The place is like a dorm. You will need to share bathroom with others, with even no soap provided. What makes it worse is the room we stayed was next to sitting area and there were people constantly talking, turning on lights the whole night! There is no curtain in our room, so whenever someone turned on highway light, I woke up! We barely slept at all. And also the elevator broke and we had to take stairs up and down for two days! I would not recommend this place to anyone at all, no matter what your budget is...
Very small room
Location is good but the room is too small.
My family were traveling in Spain for 18 days! This is the worst place to stay! Came in with dirty room and no bathroom light!!! I paid for it, so we stayed! During check out, the guy staff threatened my wife & gave us bad attitude because we gave them bad reviews! He was probably expecting a 5 star! Are you kidding me???? If we were not only catching the train (almost didn’t make it), I would have punched his face! Terrible service!!!! Do not stay there! Bad place! Dangerous place!!! Worst decision I made! Worst traveling experience!!!
Nice hostel in the center of Barcelona
Having never stayed in a hostel before I didn't know quite what to expect but I enjoyed myself very much here. In an early 1900's building you feel the history of the city. I found the staff very friendly (I got a tourist coupon book for discounts of many attractions in Barcelona when I checked in). You are so close to so much at this location. Being a hostel the rooms are small and you share a bathroom but none of this was a problem and everything was always clean. It was also very quiet at night. They have a cold water cooler, and a frig if you wanted to bring home food. They had a pretty open window area with a table to have breakfast or a break from all the activities you have planned. This place made me very open to going to another hostel in the future. Great place to stay in one of the world's most beautiful and fun cities.
Small But Comfortable Room, Kind of Noisy
My room with shared bath was very small, but the TV and the air conditioning worked well. There is a fair amount of noise from the hallway and adjacent rooms, but after 10 or 11 p.m. it is fairly quiet. It might be worth it to pay for a private bath and have a bigger and maybe quieter room.
Decent hostel close to the main attractions of the city.
The worst hostel ever!!
One of the worst experiences ever. Staff was rude and kept asking me how long I was staying even before I got in the door. Room Was smaller than my closet at home and hostel Was far from main part of town and subway so cab fare made up for savings on the hostel.
Basic but comfy hotel in good area, plenty of shopping, bars and restaurants. Friendly and helpful staff. And certainly no complaints about the price.
Staff was helpful and went out of their way to accomodate every request. Excellent value for the price and very clean facilities.
Good location for budget traveler
I arrived very late at night for my stay that I needed to check in at a different hostel then walked 2-3 blocks to Hostal Felipe II. Check in desk close in the evening so it may be inconvenient for guests arriving late. I stayed in a single bedroom with a sink. The room was a little small but good for one person. Both bathroom and bedroom were very clean, with nice housekeeping. The location is really close to metro station and buses to any attractions in town. There's also a few restaurants and grocery stores close by. I overall had a fair experience for my stay with budgeted rates for staying a week in Barcelona. This hostel can be recommended to budget travelers.
Budget place close to metro
Arrived and we had booked a double room but got a twin room. Our room faced the road and was very noisy so the next morning asked to be moved to a quiter room which we were able to.
My room was for three people and the room was too little. The shower and Sink were not enclosed. Not toilet in the room, had to go outside to use a public one.
Worst room ever!
We stayed here for 2 nights in early July. We first had trouble finding the reception as it was on the 3rd floor and accessed by a quaint old elevator. The check in staff member was very helpful and provided lots of tips and advice, he also showed us the watercooler available to guests however this was where the positive comments stop. Upon opening the door to our room on the 4th floor I was surprised when the door hit the end of the bed before it was fully open. Our room was nothing like the pictures we'd seen when booking and without any windows to let in natural light, it was quite claustrophobic. It also smelt strongly of cleaning chemicals. There was one small 'window' which opened into a corridor which again had no natural light. Being July it was quite hot and stuffy. The air conditioning unit in the room worked but oh my did it rattle during the night - being a light sleeper I had very little sleep both nights. There is 1 toilet and shower on each floor, but we weren't sure how many people this serviced. Upon arriving back about 10pm the second night we found the main door locked to the 3rd floor and toilet. This was a problem as the fourth floor bathroom was in use for some time. Overall, this was the worst accommodation we've ever had and would never have booked if we knew the room we were getting.
Comfy and clean
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location if you are visiting Segrada Familia
Great location hostel
Easy to take metro or bus from hostel. Booked the three person room and got a great balcony view. Great location. Great staff.
One night stay
Stayed for one night, the room was cleaned, with air conditioner, with a TV, and a sink, closet, very nice room, the best room ever had. The service excellent, five stars, very helpful the lady and the guy there, needed a laundry and they provided me with the information, marked in a map and gave it to me, the lady also very helpful and kind, The only minus was payment option was only cash; however, they provided me information for money exchange, as I asked them, the lady marked in a map the locations and gave it to me. Location was excellent, one block from metro Station.
Perfect Stay
We love Hostal Felipe and stay there's whenever we're in Barcelona. This time we stayed for a week. The 3 person room is the best deal you could ever find - one queen and one single bed (not a cot), large flat screen television, a balcony overlooking a beautiful urban landscape, brand new private bathroom with shower - and all perfectly clean and comfortable.
Modest accommodation, central location
Simply furnished room with small bathroom. The larger rooms that face the main street are larger and have city views but the traffic noise is noticeable.
Simple and comfortable
I had never stayed at a hostal before and wasn't sure what to expect, but I found our room to be nice and clean and fresh for our 4 night stay. Air con, tv, shower all working and great condition bed sheets were clean and crisp was perfect for a short visit!
It was okay
I didn't like that it was hard a little harder to find and something I had a problem with was that if you arrive before 10am you're going to be stuck outside waiting until someone comes out of the building.
Good place for a good price
air conditioning didnt work the first couple of days.
Great basic hotel for low maintenance travelers
Basic clean hotel in a convenient location. It's nothing fancy but provides an active traveler all that they need. Hotel staff was helpful, room was clean, in a safe area. I'm not the type who needs all the fancy amenities...just need a comfy place to rest at night. If you're a low maintenance traveler who wants to maximize your time (and money) exploring minus the fluff, this place is perfect.
Good Location
Good location near Passeig de Gràcia, La Pedrera and Sagrada Familia!
vacation with my wife
this hostel is good as i have a private room with bathroom. i can use the public refrigerator. It also provides hot & cold water. The public space is good for its outlook and view. It taks about 5-10 minutes walk to metro Verdaguer.
Can't argue with value
Hostal Felipe II was excellent value for money: I didn't expected a fresh towel and room turn down every day.
Great price for location, however paper thin walls will make it difficult for you to rest if you are a light sleeper. Overall good ratings for room cleanliness, friendly and communicative staff, air conditioning in room. Ideal for the non demanding customer.
Everything's great except one thing: the socket in my room doesn't work
nice hostel but 2 far from city centre
Ok for an overnight but nothing more
Nice place for a short stay but anything longer then you should think again. Clean and tidy but too too small for two people/four nights Corridors echo really badly so anyone arriving or returning late at night becomes an issue Staff were helpful and very pleasant Website needs more images of rooms you book tough. It was quite misleading as the image I thought related to my booking was of the best rooms. Not the room I booked.
Barcelona
Short break with my partner,we really enjoyed our stay in your city
Not sure if it's worth one star! Tiny room, needs serious painting.
Really nice and friendly staff! Nice central location.
The only good thing is the location
Location was good. It smelled like canal and mold. The room was old and tiny. It looked like a closet.
Worth the Price.
We had booked a couple room with shared bathroom. It was very clean, just that at times we had to wait a lot to use the bathroom. Its very close to the Vedaguer Metro station which makes commuting very easy. But its more than 2 kms away from La Ramblas. Staff was super friendly and very helpful.
The room was really small for 2 persons.
nice hotel.
you spend 5 euros more(i mean compared to the hostel nearby) and you can get a private room. the room is clean ,and staffs are friendly and very helpful.perfect location in a quiet area.
Small private room but ideal location
Really nice area. Not that central but easy access to transport e.g close to metro station or bus stop or shopping is around a 10 minute walk or 20 minute walk to la rambla. Over all the room was small but exactly what we needed. Staff very helpful and polite. Cleaner was good. Only downfall with the shared bathrooms are that its 1 bathroom/toilet between about 4/5 room so can be a wait sometimes.
Worth your money
Good as it is nearby most of the attraction.
Very small rooms but clean
Peaceful and safe neighborhood. Our room did not have a window so it got quite stuffy sometimes. The room was very small and everything was compacted. The lady at the reception was very helpful and polite. However we can't complain much with such a low price and the things were in general clean and well kept in such an expensive and safe area.
Barcelonas best kept secret for accomodation
We were welcomed early as we arrived early and were greeted warmly in English which certainally helps when in Spain.the room was in a perfect position to walk everywhere. It was easy to find and we were able to park the car one block from the apartment.i would thoroughly recommend this apartment,we had our own bathroom. I have read some negative reviews about hostels but this one was perfect. The old lift was a novelty but practical.yes this is definitely a YES to stay
Serves it's purpose
This hostel is the bare bones of what it needs to be. Sheets were clean, room was small, location was pretty good! Overall, if you need a cheap, clean place to spend a single night (too crammed for an extended trip) then this hostel is perfect!
Well run and clean, great rooftop terrace too!
Very clean and on quiet street. Staff helpful and friendly. Near to metro so no problem getting around. Roof terrace worth a look when its open.
A great spot
Great location right near the underground and walking distance to the main sights. Interesting old building but modernised rooms which have been done well. Would not hesitate to return again.
Great, clean hostel
My son stayed here for a month. Everything was perfect.
Overall, no
Nice staff, good location, but our first room was extremely small and had a window that opens like a vent and that faces nothing. Our second room, which had a balcony covered with pigeon droppings, also had plumbing problems: a sink that barely drained and a toilet that you could not flush toilet paper down (you had to put used tp in the trash can). There was also a huge cockroach in the second room, which I thankfully spared my wife from seeing. In both rooms the doors do not seal well and the walls are thin so expect to hear every noise your (probably young, loud, partying) neighbors make at all hours. The sheets and towels were kind of old too.
great value for money
the location is absolutely fantastic for a good visit to the city sights as well as the beach. Nice cafes and restaurants as well as little indoor market nearby. Hotel staff was very friendly and all was clean. Street is noisy as you would expect in the centre of Barcelona, but considering it is just a Hostel I was surprised to find a private hairdryer in the room, plenty of computers for communal use and and hot and cold water. Will definitely go back and recommend to friends.
Stayed at the apartment in Jonqueres
Because our room was not ready, we were offered an apartment in Jonqueres 16, which was lovely, clean and spacious. We had some problems with the boiler but Srta Cristina was very friendly, helpful and sorted everything for us. Our stay was delightful
Nice hotel, very good location
The staff was very friendly and helping, the location is very good, you can walk to most of the touristic objectives. the room was a bit small bat it was clean. overall a good hotel at the right price
Very adequate for the price
We had just 2 nights in Barcelona after our cruise and wanted a low cost but clean establishment. It was convenient and spare but functional. The staff was friendly and helpful and they had free wifi and use of computers. It fit our needs perfectly and I would stay there again given the same parameters.
Thank you, Hostal Felipe II
We had initially booked a room with a shared bath, and then upgraded to a room with a private bath. The staff were very helpful and honest; there were computers available for use at no charge; there was bottled water available for hot or cold drinks; and the other people staying there mostly respected the 10 pm quiet time in the computer room (our room was off of it). The building was filled with apartments, and the hostal was on the 3rd and 4th floors. We usually climbed the stairs, and only used the beautiful old elevator on our departure. It was very close to Verdaguer metro stop, and in a beautiful neighborhood.
Ticks the box, as long as not busy
Hostel is in a great location close to buses and Verdaguer metro station. Lots of cafes and supermarkets close by. Lovely old cage lift up to third floor. Had nice, shower-en-suite, street facing room. Double bed v.comfy, with spare blanket if nec. Common room with large table, computers and communal fridge was right outside, and a little noisy when frequented. Walls/doors were rather thin, but fortunately I don't think the hotel was too busy the days we were there. Wifi was a little patchy, ok for normal use but not good for Facetime.
Fantastic service
We wanted to spend a small vocation with family that could meet our budget. Hostel Felipe actually met our needs and more. The staff was incredible and very helpful. From the minute we stepped in they welcomed with smile. They spoke English very well, compared to other places in Barcelona, where they only spoke Spanish. The room was in nice condition, clean, air conditioning was working fine, especially for that hot period in August. The location of the hostel is great - a short walk to the beach, nearby restaurants, attractions, etc. We felt very comfortable during our whole stay. Thank you.
Quiet and clean hostel, would stay again
Quiet and clean are big plusses. No parties. Would stay again.
Great hotel !
The staff were very nice and helpful and spoke english ! The rooms were clean and comfortable and the shared bathrooms were always clean! The cleaners did however wake us up in the morning because of the noise in the corridors but we were up and out early so that didn't really bother us! Altogether it's a very good hostel and I would recommend it
Great place very friendly staff. I would stay here again.
Clean, nice hostal staff with reasonable price. Sagrada Familia is just near the hostal so there are lots of shops near. A metro station is just minutes walk away. The computers setting and wi-fi are very convenient.
stayed in single room with shared bath
Warning: if you can't sleep with earplugs, then you should probably avoid a single with shared bath (I can't speak to the other room locations). Since earplugs don't bother me, I had no problem. It's hard to beat the price and location of this hotel.

Nice place for the price
