Good property for a cheap price
The Bungalow room was very old, not spaces and invaluable for the price.
This property served its purpose for us as a base for a couple of nights on Phi Phi. The pool area is nice and the rooms were comfortably sized and in good condition. The only negative of this property were the beds which were rather uncomfortable.
Room was decent, AC very cold and the staff were incredibly friendly!
Adjoining room did not lock. Had them add a padlock to no one could enter my room. Safe locked. Staff needed to break into safe and reset it for me. Better hotels in more convenient locations for less money. Pool and dining were adequate at best.
Clean, quiet and friendly
The location of the resort is nice as it’s far enough away from the loud music in town and close enough to walk everywhere (5-10 minutes). We enjoyed lounging in the pool and found the rooms clean and tidy. The towels aren’t incredibly plush, but are fine for the job. The room is spacious, particularly with a wardrobe, we found it easy to keep our two suitcases out of the way. Had a nice washing line outside to dry the clothes which we utilised numerous times. The 1000 Baht bond for the room key was a bit of a surprise, as it wasn’t mentioned in the booking details.
The staff was extremely sweet and kind. However we didn’t have wifi during our entire stay. The facilities and room were okay, it is what you paid for. I appreciate it for what it is, the only thing was not having wifi so it was hard to look up stuff for the area.
Not the best place to stay, wasn’t very clean and there was never any staff at reception. Prepare for a long walk from the harbour as they don’t come to help your with your luggage. Is very basic and not like the picturs. Plus the beds are rock solid! Is good for just a short stay if your not using the room that much.
Staff extraordinary , very friendly
Ok sleep but needs updating
This was a nice hotel that was a bit out of the way. Very nice and quiet as compared to the beach hotels near the main area. The pool area was great. There was a hole in our duvet cover, but itbwas clean. The door was noisy (squeaky)and stuck a bit. Also, the safe was not fastened to the floor. It is better to carry your valuables with you.
Nice place with very friendly staff and also a fairly short walk to the main strip with all the bars and restaurants. We enjoyed it and would recommend.
not great
This hotel was wildly disappointing! We’ve been traveling for 4 months and this was our least favorite property! We had ants all over our room. The room is a crash pad and that’s it. The shower has no water pressure and doesn’t ever get hot. The WiFi also rarely works! I would not recommend and would not stay again.
Bangalows were small, dirty, with no basic amenities such as fridge, smelly dirty bedding and the shower was located over the toilet. Good location but absolutely dissatisfied.
Rooms are overall nice. Proper AC. Shower system is sufficient but not extraordinary. Would be nice to have a hand soup in the bathroom :)
Good location but they obviously reserve the worst rooms for guests who book rooms of Expedia
Pleasant stay
To be honest I’ve read a lot of bad reviews one day before check in and I got very anxious. I booked the bungalow in first instance but after reading the reviews I paid to upgrade to the standard room, which I don’t regret at all. We had a pleasant time, not too much to complain apart from the bed and the pillow - they were absolutely terrible! We didn’t pay for the breakfast in advance and I think it was a great thing, because we checked to see if it was worth and it wasn’t at all. To simple, not nice presentation and the place was too hpt (no aircon).
No hair dryer, no wifi, snake in our room, gap under the door, no shower curtains (the whole bathroom is wet) bright side, breakfast was ok and they provide water in the room everyday, location is great.
Good location for a good price. However the room wasn’t comfortable and looks way to older than the pictures.
Stayed here for 2 nights in August 2019 with my daughter, sister and newphew. As Phi Phi doesn’t have vehicles, the hotel is a good 15-20 minute walk from the pier. We had to get a local to call the hotel as the porter with the luggage trolley didn’t turn up, even though we had confirmation they would be there. We stayed in the bungalows, mostly for the cost, but it was very average and smaller than it looks in the pictures. Would be fine if you aren’t fussy and are looking for something cheap. Breakfast was alright, cereal toast and cooked eggs or pancakes.
Overall it is a good hotel
It is a bit far away from the pier than we thought, especially when you were carrying some luggage and walking along an uphill road in 41 Celsius degree. But later on, we found that you can hire a luggage trolly cart for only 40B. We did that on the day we left, so much better! The hotel was quiet at night since it is off the busy center town area. A lot of mosquitos. The hotel staff was very nice, offering us a cold towel and juice at our arrival. The mini fridge in the room was extremely loud.
The property was in need of an update in decor & furnishings. Breakfast very poor choice. For the cost of this hotel, there are far more superior cheaper hotels. The pool bar stock very few drinks, no Coca Cola! Not even beer. No activity amenities in the hotel. No room service. The hotel has such good potential and large open spaces. All staff I encountered were excellent, I hurt my leg and they moved me to a ground floor room so I didn’t have to climb the stairs.
Not the worst but wouldn’t stay again
Expensive for the bungalow, the WiFi was bad, far away from everything, didn’t like the room much at all, breakfast not good. However the staff were very nice.
Quiet part of Phi Phi
The hotel is good for the price you pay! Included breakfast, good front desk service, updated rooms. We stayed in the main hotel, so I can't say how the bungalows were. The hotel is a little ways away from Tonsai, which can be nice dive it's much quieter around the hotel. The cleaning service was so-so. Our beds were done, but never changed the 5 nights we were there. The towels were sometimes funky smelling... I think it may have been due to the fact most of the island hang dries their laundry. If you want to be close to the bars and restaurants and the island night life, you're better staying at a hotel closer to Tonsai pier.
Great place but the bungalows are a little small, especially if you go for the extra bed option
Quiet, cool location. Slightly off the beaten path, but just a short distance to the madness. Great staff. Pool is nice.
Staff was very friendly! The rooms were very outdated for the price. I stayed two nights and then switched hotels. The location is far from the main town. There are no motorbikes or taxi so you have to carry your luggage to the hotel.
Good stay! Very good hotel for phi phi
Overall good hotel! Bit far out, but worth it for the price. The main area is about 10/15 walk.
Excellent
Very nice hotel and staff could have no complaints, very good value for money and lovely location
1.3 star
no good.. no electricity to fall from the station . the breskfat no dood everthin was bad i never go back again to this hotel.. the people they are good but the owner have to invest money in the property
BEWARE BED BUGS
I had a terrible time at this hotel and wouldn’t recommend it anyone. Each night I woke up with more and more bites. I had to spend a lot of money on medication and in my sleep I accidentally scratched them and they got infected. The hotel staff weren’t helpful and all and the apparent owner was so rude on the phone when I told him the room had bed bugs. Also, the pools so small that it’s like having a hot bath.
On expensive side = average stay
We stayed here for one night after walking by it while staying at another hotel. We decided to stay one more night so booked with them. Checking took a long time. At one point 5 staff were helping us because they could not find the booking. We were checked in at 1200 pm which was great. Room was clean and comfortable. There was a bad smell coming from the toilet but found that this a quite common in my Asia travels. Tv had only two English channels. One thing I really didn’t like was the bedding. It was flannel sheet and comforter. Because there was no sheet between the bed and comforter I wonder if they wash this every time? I’m guessing no because it was quite thick. Other than that the stay was in the expensive side for what you got.
Lovely stay
Stayed here 2 nights but extended to an extra night due to how much we loved it. Pool was amazing, rooms were exceptionally clean, cleaners did an an amazing job each day! Air conditioning was great, cooled down the room so quickly! Spacious bathroom and room in general! Would stay again! The only two downsides to the hotel is no bar and thin walls, so can hear others late at night! Overall a lovely place to stay!
Good but with a little effort could be amazing
Hotel and pool is lovely but it is Muslim owned/run and subsequently does not have a bar. You can buy cold bottles/cans from a shop 100m away and never got challeged when drinking at the pool. Breakfast not great but adequate and no proper onsite or very close restaurants. Pool in full sun making it actually too warn and has no shade at all, desperately needs better positioned trees or umbrellas. Having said this I have stayed here 3 times as it is a new very nice good valued hotel just a shame they do not do the little things that would make it amazing.
Good location - decent room
This hotel is perched on a hill - about 15 mins on foot from the main port. It is surprisingly quiet which is the main selling point - unlike other hotels/hostels located closer to the main tourist hub of town. The rooms are OK - though not outstanding. There is a pool which is decent.
Average with bad plumbing!
Check in was quick. Make sure you have 1000 baht cash as they want as key deposit and wont accept card. Wasn't an issue for us. Got to the room but it was not ready. They said half hour until it would be ready. I asked for another room. Room was full of mosquitos...we killed about 25 and got sick so told reception. They quickly sprayed the room when we were out and demolished them all. They provided plugs as the surrounding area is rife with them. We got bitten a few times so couldn't open the patio doors which was a shame. The plumbing was terrible. Our toilet would not flush properly so had to use toilet in reception area. Shower was one temperature, cold! Not ideal really which made the stay a bit uncomfortable. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean but bathrooms need a good scrub, lots of mould and mildew in the shower. It is quite a walk to the hotel from the pier, if I was to come to Phi Phi again I would stay closer to the pier. We chose this hotel on price mainly but next time I would spend a bit more. You dont get alot for your money in Phi phi unfortunately. The surrounding area is a bit untidy and smelly but the island itself is beautiful and has some amazing stuff to go and see. Overall an average stay.
Affordable and comfortable
In a good location away from the crowds but not too far a walk. Facilties are decent and make for a comfortable stay for a weary traveller. WiFi was terrible. Otherwise it served it's purpose.
Fine, but...
The location wasn’t the best, the recommendations said 10 minutes walk but it was at least 15-20 which is still fine but expected it to be a bit closer. When we got our room the toilett didnt work nor the hot shower (it was raining every day so that was crucial for us), the staff were handling it fine but wouldn’t say they were the nicest... Small room, small bed, crazy loud fridge but fairly clean. All in all a fine place but expect less then on the pictures, recommended for budget travellers who don’t mind the above mentioned.
lovely hotel!
Stayed here as part of our asia travels and was pleasantly suprised by how nice it was considering the cheap price and the odd harsh review. Found the staff lovely and helpful and the room itself was spotless and aircon was a life saver, not one bug in sight and far enough away from the hussle and bussle for a decent night sleep!
Going Again
Considering the local Area hotel was just awesome with great beach, breakfast and location. it was totally worthed except the week wifi everything was just upto mark.
Mmmm
Hotel modern, room are nice but only cleaned when you ask for it. Which is a bit poor when your not allowed to flush toilet roll down the loo. Too far from night life Staff regimented along with lots of rules Not impressed
Hotel was nice and clean - close to everything.
GREAT HOTEL - CENTRAL LOCATION
Much better than expected.Room big with great bed. Walk in shower with plenty of room. Great AC. Staff were very freindly..SMILE AT THEM AND BE POLITE AND THEY WILL TREAT YOU WELL.Highly recommend.
Nice looking hotel but lack amenities
No amenities provided! Just very basic shampoo and soap pump at the shower! No hand soap to wash hands! Breakfast was very limited to what they made. No choice on what you ate! Had the exact same breakfast two days in a row!!!
Cheaper Cost Hotel in Phi Phi
We picked this hotel as it was one of the cheaper options in Phi Phi. In my opinion it is very overpriced (we got a much nicer hotel in Ao Nang for cheaper) but then again everything in Phi Phi is that way! It is about a 15-20min walk from the Pier - so when you arrive we suggest hiring a man with a trundler that pulls your luggage for you. Also, google maps is of no use in directing you the correct way so just ask locals! The grounds are massive and there are lots of grassy areas and the pool is lovely with lots of loungers for sunbathing. The room itself was decent in size (we stayed in a standard room) and seemed clean at first glance. Throughout our stay we did notice uncleanliness - like dust bunnies under the curtains and mould/grime around the bathroom sink ledge and under the toilet seat. Wasn't bad enough for us to complain though. There were a lot of mosquitoes so come prepared - the hotel did come and spray our room and leave a plug in spray when we complained though, which was nice! Have informed Expedia of this: the check out time listed on here stated 12 noon but at the hotel it is actually 11am. Consequently, we ran into a few issues upon check out. The first hotel staff member I spoke to was very unaccommodating about this, however, the second lady was a lot more understanding. I understand that it is not the hotel's fault but I was a little put off at how quickly the first lady got rude towards me. All in all, and okay stay!
The hotel offers almost nothing, does not have bathroom amenities, when we asked to clean the room, they just changed the bath towel and only! They did not change the towel on the bathroom floor, they did not change the bedding, they forgot the toilet paper and the soap, and they did not leave bottles of water, which are free! I really will never stay at this hotel again and would not recommend it to anyone!
Good hotel in a quiet location
We were pleased with the hotel. The mixed reviews made us a bit apprehensive, but on arrival we were pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious and clean, and the pool was also. The location was perfect, nice and quiet and only a 10 minute walk to the beach/town.
Is not a resort
so expensive for what it is, is a nice hotel, but breakfast is not really good and services wasnt very good.
Have breakfast somewhere else
This hotel is only good, because breakfast was really terrible. Swimming pool and room were nice, and location is OK.
Wonderful Hotel
Gypsy Sea View was such a wonderful hotel to stay at on the Phi Phi Islands. It's close, walking-distance, to everything you could desire while on the island, without being right in the heart of town. This was a plus for us because we could walk 5-10 minutes to the bustling part of town, and then return to our hotel for a quiet night's sleep. The hotel is very well kept. Super clean room, bathroom, and hotel grounds. The pool was beautiful and relaxing. The staff members were so kind and accommodating to us the entire time. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the island.
Great hotel!
Great hotel! It's away from the craziness of Phi Phi. If your looking for a party hotel this isn't it. It's quiet and is about 15 minutes from the pier. I enjoyed my stay!
Good and Beauty
Beauty and Tropical, Pool has a good view.
Not even sea view... Half a KM from beach.
Check in was nice. Room was decent. Beds are extremely uncomfortable, and you might as well sleep without a pillow to avoid neck strain. Was harassed by a security guard, "Krisda" when we tried to bring a friend back to our room for the night. Although the fee was 500 baht, we were fine with paying the fee, but the way we were spoken to was out of complete disrespect, which is not the way I expect to be treated at any resort. He was screaming, demanding to "speak to us", and shouting "look at my name, come here." It was extremely aggressive, and left us feeling entirely uncomfortable on the property that we paid to stay on. On the second day, our toilet stopped working. Thankfully it was fixed when we returned from our full day excursion.
Nice little hotel. Very clean and modern looking.
Stayed 4 nights. Nice little hotel. Very clean and modern looking. Far from the noise and crowd that are on the party beach side of the island. Room was clean. Staff was very kind and helpful. Only criticisms I have is that they don't give washcloths or hand/face towels, and the beds are a little hard (typical in Asia). Also the breakfast, while good, is served in an outdoor (read hot, no AC, and flies) venue about a 1/2 block away. Other than those minor problems, this is the best deal on the island for a clean hotel with a good pool.
Gooa
Not a bad place, but not "sea view"
This place is okay. Not very close to the beach as the title would suggest. The bungalows are not very nice, I recommend the main building. The plumbing is really sensitive.
Give it a miss
This was a very disappointing stay. We thought we had booked the hotel, apparently we booked a bungalow. The bungalow was more like a chicken coup. Dirty, shabby, dated. Water gushed under the door, the bathroom leaked and the roof leaked into my bed right where my head was. We complained and were moved to another bungalow again leaking into the bed. Were eventually moved into the hotel that room was nice but took a lot of trauma to get there and we were not given towels. The wifi is terrible too as is the location.
Nice Pool
We enjoyed our stay at the Gypsy Sea View Resort. The property is somewhat new. Location was on the outskirt but that was fine with us. The beach is about a 10 mins walk. The island is quite small. The only thing we didn't like about the room was the bedding. Sheets were flannel. We would have preferred regular sheets instead. Also, there weren't any English speaking TV channels. Everything was either in Chinese or Russian. Would have been great to be able to watch a movie at night.
Newer hotel not so close
Surprised by how nice and new it was. Friendly staff. A bit far from all the shops and restaurants compared to other hotels.
Koh Phi Phi done right
It was a very welcoming check-in. Our room was beyond our expectations. I read about quite a few other hotels on the island and felt that this was going to be the lesser of all evils. How correct I was. This place is much more modern than the rest. Granted, it is a 10 minute walk from the pier, but we were backpacking so we are mobile. Pros: Pool, Showers, Room, Staff, Accommodations, Wifi Cons: Firmness of bed, temperature of breakfast items I would recommend to all.
Relaxing stay
Gypsy is future away from all the heat, you need to walk around 10mins to the nearest beach. I also find difficulty for contacting the hotel as there's no direct email or phone number available. Also take note that this is a Muslim hotel so there won't be pork available in the breakfast menu. Other than that I've had a pleasant stay.
Someone Walked Into Our Room
I surprised my wife with a trip here for a romantic getaway. The hotel is a pretty long walk from the beach, but that didn't bother us much. After we came to the room for the evening, we heard what sounded to be someone coming into our room and it was another guest! They opened our door with a key to another room! Come to find out, our lock was faulty and any key would unlock it. I had to take an hour explaining this to the maintenance man before he put the motions in play to have our locks changed in the middle of the night. Needless to say, our night was completely ruined. Then, when we hung around in the morning to tell the management, they called the owner, who was completely rude and told me it was fine since nothing was stolen! I was livid. That was a very unfortunate situation, but the way the owner handled it was even worse. We left and went to another hotel and had a wonderful time on the island for the remainder of our stay!
Modern basic hotelin a good location
Set at a standard above the backpackers norm, and a budget to suit. Well located just outside the centre rooms are basic but comfortable with AC. Wifi was adequate also. Breakfast was only just acceptable.
small room, all perfect!!
it's graet hotels if I come back to ko phi phi it's the same hotel!
Phi Phi Relax
Hotel is 15 minutes walk from the Pier. Far enough from the noise to ensure a quiets night sleep. Great rooms, seems relatively new. All rooms face onto the pool. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful
Nice hotel
I haven't got a a bad word to say about the hotel it was ok the quiet side of the island that's the best place to stay I'd say! Pool water could of been changed a bit more offen. But apart from that nice hotel!
Beautiful resort, fantastic staff
In my opinion this is the best resort on the island. Are you away from the noise of the night life but aren't too far that it's out of reach. The grounds are gorgeous and staff are always super friendly and helpful
New Hotel - Service needs improvement
We enjoyed the swimming pool and close proximity to beaches, restaurants, agencies and shops. The room we stayed in was brand new and clean. The shower wasn't clean. The tap on the wash basin let out a very weak, thin stream. It only had cold water, so shaving and teeth brushing was a bit of a challenge for city slickers like us. There was no hand soap and no hand towels. There's no sheers on the windows, so if you want privacy, you can't have natural light. There are only dark curtains. There were no TV channels in English.
Worth the stay
- Nice hotel, - close to everything and not noisy - needs to improve the breakfest
Good for a 3 star in thailande.
Room close to the restaurant (D 105) of course noise in the morning. Just one wheel of toilet paper every days. Bed a little bit hard. Price a bit expensive. Good emplacement for koh phi phi. Close to the party but you don't hear the noise of the music. Nice swimming pool. Internet well. Nice design.
A bit expensive for its value
The hotel was new but very far from the pier. Good thing if you want to be away from all the night noise from bars, etc. The breakfast was a fixed menu which is not a bad thing but if you don't like what was served I wouldn't recommend it. (not a buffet). On the last day the the safe box broke with all our belongings inside. It ran out of bat and three people had to come and fix it. Our bathroom blocked up but was fixed when asked. Over its not a bad hotel, he just OK.
Basic hotel. Quiet area but still close to everything , maybe a 5 minute hotel
The hotel delivers for the price it charges. It's just a long walk from the pier and island centre. But overall good hotel.
Mixed bag
At check in not all staff was wearing smiles but we got decent service as they gave us a map upon our request and marked where we were. The hotel seemed new and its grounds were nice looking. When we got to the room we found out it wasn't the cleanest - Ants were partying around our table and kept doing so throughout our 4 nights stay. The bed was small and hard, pillows felt cheap, so comfort level was pretty low. The shower was mediocre at best - Spacious but hot water would change to cold back and forth at set intervals thanks to the installed water heater. Toiletries were lacking big time: There were no hand towels and the body towels were disappointing - Small, thin and smelly. We were given only 1 roll of toilet paper despite our request, so we had to buy some at 7-11. This is all hotel policy and they wouldn't agree to change anything except for reluctantly giving us one roll of extra toilet paper on one occasion. No umbrellas for rainy days, had to buy them outside. The pool is nice and spacious but gets closed at 20:00, which felt kinda early to us, and there were no pool towels. Hotel's location might not seem like the best one, but we thought it was nice - Distant enough to be quiet, providing a 10 minutes walk to just about anywhere. Check out was kinda slow, and reception claimed we took something from the mini bar without us ever using it. We obviously refused to pay the bill (some snack or something), and they 'had' to live with it.
Hotel served its purpose.
This hotel served it's purpose for a short 1 night stay, would probably not stay for long though. Breakfast was not very good.
Stay in new part
Stayed in the newer part of hotel, room nice and clean but safe broke and it took staff half an hour to open it. Breakfast very basic.
perfect stay on phi phi
A couple wanting to enjoy phi phi but not wanting to be out every night this was perfect... Location was a it of a walk from pier but we managed, only difficult with large bags on our back. Hotel was quiet no noise from nearby pubs, clubs and beach. Local mosque that's the only noise. Lovely pool and clean... Breakfast was very very basic. Overall I would recommend this hotel :)
Likainen hotelli
Hotelli oli epäsiisti ja räihnäinen. Lavuaari wc:ssä vuoti jonka seurauksena kylpyhuone oli märkänä eikä tänne asialle tehty mitään. Hotelli oli kaikkea muuta mitä kuvissa
Very nice staff and a great pool. Otherwise were the matressed the hardest I have come across - very uncomfortabe and many things need fixing and repairing.
Super
La réceptionniste de jour super sympa !!! Le nettoyage vraiment correct, le prix aussi.. J y retournerai 😀😀😀
dont even consider this hotel
does not match the price
the rooms are very worn out. I constantly felt the unpleasant smell of old age and dampness in the room.
Ottima struttura immersa in un bel guardino con piscina. Camere nuove e spaziose.
Propaganda enganosa! Fujam desse hotel!
There is no sea view!
Recommendable
The environment was calm, clean and cozy. This hotel is about ten to fifteen minutes walk from Tonsai Pier, but once inside the hotel precinct, everything is far from the bustle and noise of the pier area. The breakfast is satisfactory, and the swimming pool is clean and well managed. I stayed on the first floor, and the sea was not seen unless we walk three minutes from the hotel. If I visit Ko Phi Phi, I will choose this hotel again.

Ok
Friendly staff, clean and bright room, quiet location with nearby delicious street vendor food. 10-15 minute walk to closest beach. 15-20 minute walk from pier so make sure you travel light! Beds were hard as a rock and pillows were terrible too so we didn’t have a good night sleep in 4 nights! Our bed covers barely covered us while we slept. Must pay key deposit of 1000 baht. Pool was well maintained, breakfast was fine.
