We loved our stay at the Grande Vue!! The hotel itself is a very cool and historic queen anne mansion. Breakfast was delicious (and with fantastic gluten-free options) and the owners and staff were all so lovely and helpful. The location is also great, we can't wait to come back again one day!
A beautiful hotel with very friendly staff. Well decorated, designed and stunning views. Would definitely come back again.
A wonderful hotel. Ash and all the staff were amazing, so friendly and welcoming. The help yourself breakfast was just perfect too.
Beautiful room with magnificent views. The whole house is amazing!
Wonderful! Very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend and will stay here again when I’m in Hobart.
The Grand Vue Hotel is a beautiful experience. It has spectacular views in a charming federation style boutique hotel. Lovely owners who provide a fantastic breakfast and afternoon tea. An amazing experience.
The hosts are passionate about providing an excellent hotel stay. Our room was spacious, had a large window overlooking the neighbourhood and was very well appointed. Breakfast was wonderful - cereals, quiche, variety of breads, variety of fruit, juices, coffee and tea. Cake was offered in the afternoon, even brought to our room if we were out in the afternoon. The hotel was very quiet and the neighbourhood was beautiful and also very quiet. Would highly recommend the hotel.
We really enjoyed our stay at Grande Vue. It was comfortable, quiet and great to come back to at the end of the day. The afternoon pastries were a highlight as waa the sitting rooms, dining room and gardens. It is close to restaurants, cafes, ferries and the water front.
Incredibly beautiful hotel with stunning views. The bed was very comfortable and loved the baked treats in the afternoon after a day out exploring!
Absolutely stunning hotel. Definitely my choice anytime I'm in Hobart. An amazing gem, can't recommend it enough.
Excellent property in a beautiful suburb so close to The city. Afternoon tea was superb . We had such a amazing holiday in Hobart. So much to see. What a beautiful city. Kevin and Marianne
The Grand Vue is a gorgeous hotel in a great location. We had wonderful views of the waterfront and the Hobart CBD was just a 15-20 minute walk away. We couldn’t recommend highly enough.
Firstly it is not a hotel, is a B&B !! So there are not staff available 24/7, no room service, nobody to assist you with your luggage, no concierge, etc. It is said breakfast included, it is not. It is basic continental breakfast. We were in room 1, no safe box. They said because it is very safe. We were not happy leaving valuables just like that. No luggage racks, so we had to leave our large luggage on the floor. Because of the room was so small, one large luggage had to be on the bathroom floor. Terrible experience. Considering the price per night, it is not worth it. It is not 5 stars. Never come back.
Fabulous boutique accommodation in Battery Point. Lovely area and stunning views from period property. Ash was very helpful organising dinner reservations for us. Lovely breakfast plus extra baking treats throughout the day. Beautiful decor in all rooms and able to use lounge, dining and kitchen areas as well. Exceptional accommodation highly recommend!
Stunning property, perfect location, close to restaurants and the iconic Salamanca area. The property was exceptionally clean. High quality linen and extra touches like homemade cakes and beautiful comfortable lounge spaces including manicured gardens with gorgeous views to enjoy a cup of tea or glass of wine made it a wonderful stay experience. Would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful Inn
This is an absolutely beautiful restored inn. Our room was perfectly decorated and equipped. We had an expansive view of the harbor from our bay window. Check in was easy. Treats are available in the stunning kitchen as well as a simple breakfast. While we were very comfortable in our room as it was a cool day, I must note the rooms do not have ac. We would absolutely stay here again. The neighborhood is quiet and lovely too yet close to everything.
Great location beautiful place
This was our third time choosing to stay at this magnificent private hotel. It's an absolute dream to stay here. Such a warm and welcoming place, hosts and staff. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and didn't want to leave! Everything about Grande Vue is chosen with care and class. From the beautiful music playing downstairs to the amazing home made cakes and sweets every day! We have stayed in 3 different rooms and all were impeccable and beautiful with stunning views. It's a joy to walk through and sit in any part of Grande Vue and the gorgeous kitchen is generously filled with various breakfast options. I cannot recommend Ashley and Brock's beautiful place highly enough!
A gorgeous, welcoming BnB that is beautifully appointed with attention to detail, immaculately clean and well maintained. It's the little things like the freshly baked goods, well stocked kitchen, and pantry stores. Everything has been thought of. It felt like we were the only people there. The view is outstanding. Very quiet and private, and conveniently located. We will be back!
Excellent Hosts with many homely extras included.
Perfection. I’ve never been anywhere that thought so much about every aspect of a guests comfort. A seperate makeup removal face washer, that’s dark. Perfect views, perfect amenities, perfect snacks, perfect hosts.
The hotel waa absolutely delightful. The room was exactly as it looked in the photos. The bed was comfortable and the jacuzzi tub was a lovely treat at the end of the day. The hosts, Ash and Brock, were warm, welcoming, and very responsive. We would definitely return!
We had a wonderful time and would not think twice to return on our next visit. What beautiful and private setting. Thanks for making it special.
Great property within easy walk of many restaurants and Salamanca. Property was immaculate and breakfast and afternoon treats was a great touch. Will stay again and highly recommend.
Fantastic place. Perfectly located, amazing views and very well appointed and maintained.
Perfect property in great location. Excellent service and quality. Love it!
Fantastic setting in an old house in a historic area of the city. Ash the owner was absolutely fantastic and extremely accommodating in everything that we needed during our stay. Not to mention the open kitchen facilities and the freshly baked goods every day available for all.
Ashley and the staff made us feel welcome. The Grand Vue is a lovely historic building, surrounded by other period homes. Two lounges, tastefully decorated with antique furniture and local artwork. Fantastic kitchen and a fully stocked fridge and pantry with plenty of gluten-free options. Beautiful water views from the dining room. Walking distance to local restaurants, Salamanca and Hobart harbour. A welcome bottle of red, port and home-baked treats every day. Highly recommended.
Couldn’t fault a thing. It was in a great location with stunning views. Staff were very helpful and the complimentary breakfast had a decent variety. Would definitely stay again.
Loved Grand vue private hotel In battery point, location is great Very clean Staff is wonderful always there if you need anything. Beakfast that is available is fresh and always available. Definitely will stay there again close to everything I give it a 5 Star Amazing
A perfect vibe.
What can I say? This hotel is simply sensational! From the wonderful hosts, beautiful location and fantastic interior appointments, this stay certainly didn't disappoint. Our hosts Brock and Ashley were lovely, and Brock's baked treats were to die for! The hotel is within easy walking distance to the cafes and restaurants around Battery Point and Salamanca. We loved our stay and will be back again!
From the beautiful heritage building, the amazing location in historic Battery Point, and the top notch service provided by the hosts Ash and Brock - there's really nothing you can fault if you stay here while in Hobart (which you definitely should). Brock went out of his way to offer suggestions for local restaurants to us when we had no concrete plans, even recognising us while we were out and about but not being intrusive - this kind of service was exceptional and very much appreciated. The room we stayed in was lovely, and the common areas of the house are a nice addition - all beautifully appointed. The home made cakes and treats from Ash and Brock were a really nice touch as well. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely look to stay here again if/when we come back.
Great stay
Battery Point Gem
The hotel feels like a home. Guests are invited to use the kitchen, the fridge is full of food, cakes are provided each afternoon, and the rooms themselves have gorgeous views over Hobart. Plus you’re within walking distance of Salamanca Place and many cafes/restaurants. A fabulous alternative from the no-name brand hotels.
Very happyy! Definitely will go back
Superb
Superb set-up. Boutique-style luxury in a quiet but handy location with great views. You don’t be disappointed
Amazing property, beautiful rooms and common areas in the perfect location. Views from property are incredible. Hosts/Managers are so wonderful, friendly and helpful and have made this hotel sophisticated, whilst maintaining a warm relaxed atmosphere. We’ll be back for sure and highly recommend!
A really lovely private hotel with really wonderful and helpful owners. I have never stayed at a private hotel before, however we were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. It is just a short walk to Salamanca market, Constitution dock and lots of fabulous restaurants.
The exclusivity, privacy and the whole ambience of the building along with the views from our room.
Beautiful views, stunning rooms, Brock was friendly and helpful
The decor was amazing - lots of beautiful antiques, and the room facilities were modern. There were two sitting rooms for guests as well as a kitchen and dining room.
The location is fantastic just a short walk through beautiful Battery point to the Salamanca area. Owners very nice and helpful Views outstanding over the water looking down the Derwent Rooms very clean
This beautiful hotel is run by two of the nicest and most helpful hotel owner's I have come across in my travels, providing superb service with daily bread and cheese, and even baked sweets. They provided excellent choices of restaurants and cafes with local knowledge. The room's were in excellent condition with remarkable views of the nearby marina. I would recommend the Grand Vue to anyone looking for the best experience Hobart has to offer.
Had a very comfortable stay here. Rooms are clean and beautifully appointed to suit the heritage building. Reception staff and friendly and accommodating. It’s location is very scenic and although it’s about a 15min walk to the CBD, there are also some great cafes and restaurants just up the street. Highly recommended
Grande Vue needs attention.
Great location for Salamanca Markets. 2Hr parking zones on Mona Street an inconvenience. Our middle bay-window glass looks like a Fish Bowel aspect. (Needs to be replaced) Bed is also not comfortable (Old Spring Matress) with Blankets??? Hmmm???
Room is small, bathroom is smaller but the view of the harbour is absolutely beautiful; it’s mesmerising. No room service, no balcony, no minibar, always understaffed and no shower gel (soap bars only). Room condition is very good, fittings and furnishings are great as well. The room heater didn’t seem to work but it was comfortable and warm inside the room probably because it was early March when we visited. It’s an old home nicely renovated and turned into a private hotel; it’s sort of a home feeling staying there with fireplaces in every room if that’s what you’re after. The property has stairs to the rooms on the first floor with quite a few steps; be prepared to carry your own luggage up and down the stairs. The parking is off street ie. council 2 hrs street parking restrictions from 8 am to 6 pm on weekdays; the property does not have its own parking facilities. The location is excellent with everything in walking distance; the view is awesome and the surround is nice and quiet. Would stay there again provided the water view room prices come down a bit.
Location was excellent with easy walking to attractions and restaurants. We would have appreciated being advised the room we booked was downstairs with no views and given the option to change rooms or properties.
Great views, cool location, clean room and a helpful host. Many Thanks!
Absolutely stunning views, beautifully appointed rooms and very quiet. Quick walk to restaurants, Salamanca markets etc. Highly recommended
Great location and lovely room within walking distance to Salamanca Markets and restaurants
Great view and position, near good restaurants and close walk to salamanca
The location of Grande Vue is fantastic, only a short walk to Salamanca square and restaurants. Our room was very comfortable and had a great view! We really enjoyed our stay.
The most attentive and sincere helpfulness from Trish the concierge made the stay beyond our expectations
Highly recommended!
Booked the hotel because we were attracted by the view shown in the pictures. As soon as we opened the door of our room, we were welcomed by the exact view! Trish emailed us at least twice prior to our arrival with info of late check in procedure (which in fact was very simple), etc. She also gave good advice on what to do and where to visit. Though the hotel was fully booked, it was extremely quiet! The only set back was the WiFi in our room was not strong, we had to stand closed to the entrance in order to get connected. Advice to future patrons to the hotel is that if you have issue lifting your suitcases upstairs, request for a room on the ground floor.
I have stayed at the Grand Vue on many occasions over the past ten years and always looked forward to coming back. I had always regarded it as one of the best private hotels that I have stayed at over a period of 30 or 40 years. It was superbly restored and beautifully run with a very welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, the hotel changed hands since my previous visit and most of that no longer applies. The atmosphere was sterile and the nice touches totally absent which shouldn’t be the case given the tariff. I doubt that I will stay there next time I’m in Hobart.
Absolutely beautiful accommodation and location will be returning in the future
Enjoyed a fantastic stay at the Grande Vue. A little gem in a beautiful historic neighbourhood. Great central location for sightseeing, dining and shopping. Immaculate room with stunning water views. Warm, friendly welcome and service. Thank you Trish. Highly recommend.
Fantastic setting and view over Hobart harbour in gensrously proportioned period house. Recommend++++++
A beautiful old home with a lovely view . Arriving at night made it very difficult to find
Absolutely beautiful! I would be back in a heartbeat! Great place to stay
The lack of parking. ie small amount and time limits.
Great views
Loved the location and view. Staff were extremely friendly and accomodating. Comfy bed, wonderful bathroom and facilities.
We liked the spacious room and good view. A good local pub is nearby which serves good food. Parking could be difficult as it has to be outside the hotel and restricted to 2 hours between 8 and 6 ...... no problem for us as we were away between these hours.
If you stay here get a room with a view over the Derwent. Spectacular!! Every morning we sat by our panoramic window and enjoyed coffee, tea and toast. This beautiful room is equiped with a small kitchen that allowed us to have our own continental breakfast every morning. The room has a gorgious interior and furnishings.
Lovely room with and amazing view over the harbor and the river. Would certainly recommend.
We really appreciated the service and for the recommendation of an upgrade, as the room we had was ideal for a 3 night stay. Obviously the view was amazing, as was the spa bath, the amenities such as apples on arrival and Rooibos Tea (and welcome choccies) Warm, comfortable and we'd definitely return.
Very nice
Easter retreat.
The location of Grande Vue is excellent, with an easy walk to restaurants, shops, & Hobart city. We received a friendly warm welcome on arrival. Street parking available if you have a car. Coffee & Tea were provided, but for the price we paid I'd expect some light breakfast provisions such as muesli, bread, butter & spreads. Chocolates, apples & biscuits were available at the entry, and disappeared each day, to be refreshed the next. Large room, we booked a King Room with Spa bath. There is heating, which made the room cosy. No air con so it could be hot in summer.
Stunning views of Hobart. Very private and quiet location. Close to several quaint restaurants. Huge bath/spa.
Great location! Great spa, advertised with fireplace which was fake & not in operation, also no car parking which was not disclosed on advertisement at all.
I have stayed before and I love the luxurious fittings. The antique furniture. The beautiful drapes. I slept very well the two nights of my recent trip. The views of Sandy Bay are lovely to wake up to. The street is quiet. The local shops and restaurants are easily accessible by foot. As is the Salamanca market. A great place to stay.
A view with the lot!
Amazing what a wonderful place to stay. Very professional staff, tastefully refurbished period hotel with mod cons. The area is fantastic with great cafes and restaurants at the end of the street.
I stayed in the turret room & was totally blown away by the amazing view & beautiful furnishings. The bed was so comfortable - I haven’t had such a good night’s rest in many years! Being in a residential area there was no noise, apart from the sound of the breeze on the water. Overall a fantastic experience!
Fantastic location - peaceful neighborhood but just a ten minute walk to Salamanca. The room was beautiful and clean and had everything we needed, plus a stunning view. Would totally recommend this hotel.
Pleasure
We had a wonderful room with views of the waters and Mt.Wellington. The hotel is an easy walk to restaurants and Salamanca Place. There was parking available on the street . The area is very quiet and peaceful. Battery Point is a lovely area to stroll around, with many heritage listed properties.
Beautiful neighbourhood, easy to walk everywhere you would want to.
The best place to stay in Hobart. Teresa was fabulous.
Beautifully restored. Wonderful water view. Close to Salamanca.
Beautiful old building with great view
We had the turret room which had a gorgeous view. The check in experience was not great. The front door was locked and when someone opened it, she just looked at us. We thought we were in the wrong place. Check in provided no information on procedures and as we found out later, it was not a place offering hotel facilities. It really should be called a B & B without the second B. No breakfast. When we tried to call the front desk there was no number provided and no instruction on how to get in touch with staff so when I needed assistance, I literally had to go down 2 flights of stairs and out the front door to ring the doorbell. Not great at 10pm. It is a pity as it is a beautiful house. I wouldn't recommend if you are expecting a hotel experience.
Room only hotel
A very nice hotel with fabulous views of the bay. The small kitchen area is excellent when you want to eat in
Quiet and private
Great hotel, very quiet and feels like home. Would stay there again in a flash.
Disappointed
The hotel is under new management they spoke very poor English .They had no ideas of the area the common areas had had all books etc removed .There was no breakfast pastry's as per when we booked .It will not be long before this hotel looses all its appeal . WiFi did not work most of the time .
Hotel has recently changed hands but the standard of cleanliness and quality is being maintained. Great location and great views. Good Luck Ci Ci.
excellent location, warm and quiet
Amazing view and muffins!
The four of us had an amazing time staying the Grande Vue. The rooms were gorgeous with amazing view! Great locations, great spa and muffins!! Will definitely come back
Petranella
The location was fantastic weekend walked into Hobart with ease and are in our late 60's. We received freshly baked surprises everyday and bed and view were fabulous. Couldn't ask for more
Gem of a hotel
Beautiful quaint hotel located in Battery Bay and in close proximity to Hobart harbour. Exceptionally clean and well presented on a quiet street. The owners truly made us feel welcome and the lemon and almond muffins that were freshly baked every day were a real treat! I’d recommend this hotel to anyone looking to spend some time in Hobart.
TRULY Disappointed
Truly disappointed. This was the 3rd part of a 16 trip around Aussie from the US. We has been touring from Port Arthur to Hobart all day in the cold rain- so exhausted and excited. Things to know- There a sign outside on the door that says" ring bell- if no one comes in 4 minutes- pic up phone on wall and dial" We actually thought this was meant to be funny. We waited- but not the full 4 mins because there was no movement in the house- then we picked up the phone- no answer. Finally an older man who never introduced himself came to the door and actually scolded us for not following the instructions and waiting! Seriously? We were cold/wet/tired and chose to pay this place our money over 100s of other options! He mumbled something about our booking being from Expedia. Suggested some dinner options(which were good to be fair) then took us upstairs to our room. We asked about an elevator since we had 4 large bags- he told us "no" and that he was the elevator for the bags -then showed us how to work a phone like we would be unable to ever figure it out. He then disappeared and we only saw him once the rest of our stay (no bag help). We lugged 4 large heavy bags up 2 flight of stairs. It would have nice info and we could have requested a bottom floor. Room was pretty- view was pretty- but you are looking at people in their houses right next to you- and they are looking at you. Use the curtains overall we felt unwelcome and like an inconvenience- VERY disappointing
The service was fantastic and included home made muffins on arrival, Easter eggs in the lobby during the Easter weekend and umbrellas in the lobby available to borrow. The room had a spare pillow which was thinner - I always find the standard pillows too thick. The plunger coffee was lovely. Beautiful fresh flowers decorated the room. The location was really quiet and pretty. 5 min walk from some excellent local restaurants and 10 min walk from Salamanca Place. It was a fabulous experience.
Great house and great location!
What a great location! Very convenient to many restaurants, bakeries, and pubs. Made to feel very welcome. Enjoyed coming back each evening and seeing which goodies were left for us for tea! The bed was very comfortable and the room very spacious. They give you a parking pass that allows you to park for free on the street and spaces were ample. Walking distance to Salamanca Market. Enjoyed our visit very much.
Lovely accomodation with a great view.
View of the river was wonderful. Great eating places nearby and easy stroll to town. Walk to the casino. Room was very clean, tidy and comfortable. Staff very helpful. Lovely place to stay.
Beautiful view, great location
We booked a room with water views and that’s what was delivered. 270 degree views of Sandy Bay. The room (3) was gracious, characterful and generously proportioned as well as being clean, really quiet and well enough appointed. Wi-fi was easy and reasonably fast and there was plenty of storage. If there was a criticism, it would be the high pitched whistling from the bathroom door whenever it was closed with the light (and fan) on. But you knew when it was occupied at least! The hotel is located a gentle, if hilly, stroll to Salamanca Place and the docks with central Hobart well within walking distance. There are local eateries - pubs, cafes and pie shop - around the corner and Kelly’s Steps are close by. Plus, the daily cakes or biscuits were a really homey touch.
Grand Grande Vue
Outstanding. Right in the heart of Battery Point. Easy walking to excellent coffee shops and restaurants.
Marvelous water view, noble style
Price is not cheap but you get good value of money! Through the big widow the combined bay water and mountain view is just like a peaceful painting masterpiece! The ladies and gentleman here are so friendly, wellcoming and helpful. The hotel offers us space, moden noble style decoration and relaxing environment. Great experience!
private hotel in excellent location
Couldn't fault--owners charming and very obliging.
Beautiful property in a great location.
Room with a grand view
Large room with a grand view of the bay. We watched the sun rise from the bed! Kitchenette for tea and Breakfast, plus delicious muffins every afternoon. Friendly neighborhood with easy walking to restaurants on Salamanca.
