Comfortable accommodation with basic cooking facilities. However there were many flies and was difficult to keep them out as there were no flyscreens on the doors.
Easy to find and park right outside your cottage. Lovely meals and licensed bar within 50 metres of the cottages. Historical accommodation well kept and clean. We had the whole cottage to ourselves.
Highly recommend
The cabin was spotlessly clean. Very comfortable. Easy check on
Great property, spacious and lots of rooms available.
Great stay
Great location to use as a base for riding at Maydena Bike Park. Cottage had all me and the two boys needed. Great communication from the host who was very happy to help us. Will definitely stay there again.
Lovely place to stay
Great location, very large cottage, 5 bedrooms enough to sleep 12 people and a folding out lounge and 3 toilets. it was a little rundown and could do with a big top to bottom clean. Parking was easy and at the door, communication was great and they were very accommodating in regards to early check in and late check out. The restaurant on site was absolutely wonderful.
Property was what we required for an overnight stay. Comfortable and good cooking facility.
The washing machine and dryer weren’t working properly. The laundry was untidy. The 2nd bedroom wasn’t set up very well. The entry was very narrow and the lock was tricky. However, it was very clean and a very quiet place to stay, but there were only a few people there.
3 electrical appliances did not work and 2 of those 3 appliances displayed unusual electrical activity. No electrical appliances sighted had been electrically tested and tagged, which is a mandatory workplace requirement in Tasmania in accordance with the relevant WHS/OHS Act.
Off the beaten track, this picturesque place is tucked away in the hills. It’s very relaxing but there are a few nice walks to explore. The cabin has everything you need to be comfortable. I would strongly recommend taking your own food as most places are shut or permanently closed.
Great spot to visit the Styx Valley
Donna is super-helpful, great with communication. We booked into the on-site restaurant and were very happy with their food. Russell Falls is well worth a visit!
Warm comfortable beds. Just a few housekeeping issues. No globes in bedside lights. Only one bedside light in master. Outside light not working. Saucepans need replacing. Having said that it was a very comfortable and convenient stay. Restaurant was good. Great Parma.
Awesome, will be back, restaurant food was amazing
Great
Basic and very functional Quiet Great for our needs
We found several lights in the property were not working and the fan in the bathroom only worked sometimes!
The house was beautifully maintained, warm and well stocked with anything required to make our stay comfortable and easy. It is located in a unique part of the State and well situated for exploring, walking, riding and other activities.
The cottage was great, it was well equipped and felt welcoming. It was in a group of other cottages. The view when sitting at the outside furniture was lovely and peaceful,
There was minimal lighting in the main area. Also no ironing board. The kitchen taps need repair. There should be separate bath/shower, very difficult for older people to access shower.
Convenient for a trip to Gordon Dam and just a short drive to the Junee Cave Walk, both totally stunning and not to be missed. Accommodation excellent, plenty of room and facilities. Would definitely stay again.
Nature
The location worked well. It was close to the cave p path and to mt fields national park. They have a pond next to their property with a platypus. We did have a smoke alarm go off in the middle of the night. Not sure why
Good value for money.
These are great little well set up cottages. Very comfortable.
Stunning location near Mt Field national Park
Ok but some ongoing issues
I have stayed many times at these cottages and there are a few issues but overall not deal breakers. Cabin 6A the light in the bathroom didn't work so it was hard to see at night and no spare bulb, the shampoo bottle supplied was empty. Cabin 1A had a broken blind that was not fixed and there was no privacy from this also the tv remote was broken. The cleaners need to check things more closely and get the owners getting things broken fixed. Also the bins outside were so full and rubbish was all over the ground. Somebody needs to take charge and make sure that the cottages as a whole are looking and maintained to a sufficient standard in 2023.
Very friendly manager and helpful. The cottages were updated and roomy. It felt like home. It was a nice place for walking around the grounds.
Internet is vital at this location as other than Telstra mobile there is no mobile coverage. Thus having no internet access due to non extant wifi signal was a real problem. However there was some wifi signal improvement just prior to leaving but this needs to be addressed for a permanent improvement.
Road trip
Very comfortabke with lots if room.
I got a call 3 days before we were to arrive saying they had to cancel because of a plumbing problem. I had booked this at least 5 months prior to arrival. No suitable alternative was provided, I had to ask. So I spent the afternoon looking for accommodation as I was already on the road
If you're not expecting super luxury this place will suit. It's a bit old and rough around the edges but perfectly comfortable.
CABIN 7 not recommended
Stay not recommended....CABIN 7. Yuck - unclean, needed to wash everything in kitchen before use. TV was positioned where there was no power point - fortunately we had packed an extension cord. The shower drains filled up when showering. the fire place was not clean from previous use and flue needs a clean as the room filled with smoke. AC didn't work. The cabin had a horrible smell - musty,? mouldly? or just not aired in a long time...??
Great spot for a short or longer stay. Heaps to see in the area. Would have been nice if the on-site hotel/restaurant was open for business
Every ting was as listed & better. Very happy with stay & communications. Thank You
A great location for exploring Russell Falls and the beautiful National Park.
We were informed prior to check in voa email that we have to bring our own supplies as there is no stores nearby and the cafes are close early. Otherwise everything is fine as we only stay 1 night in the area.
Very Nice Cozy Stay
Like a dead town, no more alpaca and everywhere is walabi poots.
A beautiful home with a warm fire and ample space.
Great!
One of the dirtiest places ever stayed - Avoid!
The house itself was ok, a little run down but appreciate you get that with old places. The cleanliness was the issue. The place had a funky smell when we first walked in. The fridge was dirty, including old bits of frozen vegetables in the freezer, the shelves in the cupboards were dirty, the kitchen floor was sticky, the cushions on the couch were stained (the couch was a dark colour so who knows what stains were on there!), all light shades were full of dead bugs, there was mold around the bath and shower and the shower curtain rod was hanging off the wall. When we went to go to bed there were no pillows on the bed, when we found them, they had no pillowcases on them. When we went to get into the bed, we noticed that the sheets were stained and had someone else's hair on them. Considered sleeping in the single beds instead, but upon inspection one was already all creased as if someone had been sitting or sleeping on it. Windows didn't open and there was no exhaust fan so when cooking food smells went through the entire place. We left the place cleaner than when we got there!
Nice location and extremely nice lodgings.
Very relaxing place to stay
A bit dated but well set out.
Peace in the mountains
The cottage was spacious and comfortable and quiet.
Snakes alive
First of all the restaurant and bar where closed , the grounds where in a shamble which made it a haven for snakes only given 2 days notice to bring our own food. So shop in a big town before you go as very i mean very limited food in town. The inside was very clean furnished nice kitchen tidy and clean. Never stay again
Friends trip away
No restaurant on site or near by so bring food or eat before you get there. If arriving at night allow lots of extra time as there is lots and lots of wildlife. If arriving after hours make contact so they leave the cottage open for you.
Clean and well maintained
Great place to stay in the south west. clean and well maintained. seems like just refurbished.
This property has really nice rooms with comfortable beds, and is very well-appointed. Very comfortable, and we recommend it!
Nice quiet retreat, manager was very helpful and friendly.
The property is great the cabin is so clean and tidy it makes us feel at home. The man who is looking after the place is very friendly he welcome us with a smile and he's very helpfull too. Stunning view , and fresh air . Me and my family will definitely come back one day😊😊
Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely location close to some beautiful walks. The room was spacious with good cooking facilities and comfortable lounge room. It could have been cleaner though - there was toothpaste spatter on the bathroom mirror, the fridge was not clean and the cupboards & drawers in the kitchen needed to be wiped out. Supplies were also lacking - ran out of toilet paper (had to use our own), also ran out of dishwashing liquid and was only given one tiny soap between two people for two nights. But I would stay here again as it's a nice spot for a getaway.
So quiet and private cottage. I felt very comfortable there : )
Good and cozy place. Closed to Mt field national park
Great location, excellent rooms and friendly owners
Very impressed with accommodations. 5 star comfort in the bush was very unexpected and appreciated the upgrade to the rooms that had a spa.
This property was the closest thing to home while we were away. Driving into the property was a breathe of fresh air then walking into the cottage we stayed in was comfortable, warm and clean. The owners communicated everything and more than accommodating for their guests. You’re invited to help feed the animals with your children as well. We had lovely views of the mountains all around the property which made the whole place feel magical. We loved every minute of our short stay!
I’ve read really good reviews about this property but to be honest I'm a bit disappointed. The coffee jar is completely empty and tea jar only has one tea bag in it. There’s no milk in fridge at all. There’s no hair drier in the property we stayed. But the restaurant and food is quite nice.
Excellent place in stunning location with its own pub and restaurant
Very happy with our stay. Property was old but very clean. Loved the surrounding area. Peaceful and lovely. Saw platypus every day in the ponds!
Very friendly hosts and comfortable amenities. Really enjoyed the little restaurant. Great place to stay
Fouad & Awatif from NSW
We had an amazing 2 x days at Giants table and cottages, it was spacious, clean. We welcomed on arrival by Jan and Pet at the front of the Cottage. We were glad to use the kitchen to cook our favourite dishes it felt like home. Going to the inhouse restaurant was great, the atmosphere was very pleasant. The Alpaca at the back and the goats on the side are a good company when we having a coffee at the back porch. We greatly recommend this place,
Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Delicious food, platypus and llamas.......what more could you ask for. We will definitely be back.
The food is fantastic and the hosts are great. We’ll definitely be back
Pete & Jenny were very friendly & welcoming. The cottage was lovely- tastefully decorated and had everything you could need. The pub & bar are a real bonus with delicious food and drinks. A beautiful and peaceful location with resident platypus and alpaca.
Beautiful setting and close to many walks and places of interest. Excellent hosts with lots of very useful tips of places to see.
Welcome
A great little group of houses, with a circular drive around a magneficent old pine tree. The hotel caters for all needs. The restaurent was a surprise with tasty very reasonable portions. Owners , knowledgble of district and very easy to deal with. Very enjoyable time.
Holiday gem
Our host Pete and Jen were incredible supplying us with local information on some stunning bush walks nearby. They were down to earth and friendly and made sure that our stay was relaxed and enjoyable. We will definitely be going back to stay with them and enjoy the relaxed dining experience with a delicious meal in the restaurant. Well done.
A gem for anybody who is planning to experience Mt field National Park and its surrounding. Highly recommended and will stay again heading to this region.
Beautiful setting, very easy to relax, great atmosphere, the restaurant was warm with great food, owners were friendly and extremely helpful.
Jenny and Pete were wonderful hosts, both accommodating and informative. We really enjoyed our stay with them, finding the cabins roomy and well equipped, and the location ideal for our plans to visit the Gordan River Dam.
Jen and Peter were excellent hosts and the facilities were both charming and very clean
This is one beautiful slice of paradise. Our cottage was huge with seperate lounge area and kitchen. Pete and Jenny were great hosts and made us feel at home. The on-site pub had the most beautiful food I had experienced in Tassie. Highly recommend this property to travellers looking to be close to Mount Field National Park.
Beautiful property and grounds. Jenny and Pete are fantastic friendly and knowledgable hosts, sharing local tips and service amazing food in the pub on the property grounds.
An excellent property; comfortable, warm, easy to find, quiet and well presented.
I didn’t want to leave
This place was the best! Beautiful spot, amazing food, awesome pub, hosts were fantastic, price was great, i didn’t want to leave
Highly Recommended
Excellent stay in a beautiful spot. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Had everything we needed and more
The on sight restaurant served good wholesome food but there is really nothing in the town of Maydena as far as shops or provisions.
Amazing stay
Our family of two adults and two kids spent two nights in cottage 1b. Nothing to complain, very amicable place, highly recommended.
Very nice cottage
We only stayed 1 night but really enjoyed it, cottage was clean, spacious and the owner was very nice. Kids got to see the alpacas :)
Relaxing outdoor area that was very quiet. Excellent. Great range of beers and ciders much than adventure bike park.
One of Tassie’s best cottage experiences
Amazing stay! Wish we could have stayed longer at Giants Table Cottages as they were one of the most comfortable and warm cottages we have ever stayed in. We saw platypuses in the lake, had a very enjoyable walk through the adjoining National Park and our hosts were so very accommodating. Beds were very comfortable with lovely linen and water pressure in the showers was terrific. Great communication from our hosts before and during stay to help us know what to bring with us for meals etc. The cottages were previously accommodation for logging crews many years ago and have been wonderfully converted into warm, clean, welcoming accommodation but still keep the atmosphere of workers cottages from years ago. Could not have asked for more. Highly recommended!
Great atmosphere and set up, would be great to stay here with a big group of friends.
The place was very clean, good experiences, but the WiFi basically like no WiFi at all, only fews spot can receive the WiFi like toilet, if you are not using Telstra, there no signal as well, also there have no dryer if you wanna go visit plz bring one. Base on the COVID, the restaurant was not open, so if you would cook, remember to bring you own seasoning.
Handy location, friendly owners and kids enjoyed feeding the animals
Fantastic place to stay, the fire was alight when we arrived so the house was nice and cosy, the property owners were very helpful and accommodating, would of been even better of we could have eaten at the restaurant, but we understand why this couldn't happen thanks to Covid. would defiantly recommend this place and we hope to be back again
Great views, friendly service clean and tidy accommodation
Jenny and Pete were welcoming, accommodating hosts. They couldn’t do enough for us! Great cottage and stunning peaceful location. Will definitely be back!
Amazing Hospitality and Cleanliness.
Jenny and Pete are the most welcoming and helpful couple. They both make you feel at ease and have a vast knowledge of the surrounding area, they offer excellent advice and recommendations. The cabin I stayed in was immaculately clean. Extremely comfortable and cosy. I will definitely be a return visitor.
A lovely little property to stay in. The cottage was very clean and comfortable.
Great place, run by a great couple
What a wonderful place, it is secluded and surrounded by beautiful bushland. Peter and Jenny are a welcoming couple, who we enjoyed our brief converstions with. Recommend staying here as its not too far from Hobart, and close enough to Gordon Dam.
Owners very helpful ,it is old but neat and tidy great For a Wildness get away.
Jules
Propert run down needs updating Beds very uncomfortable Couldn’t cook with frypan, lucky I had my own cooking stuff Smelt moldy deck had dead cuttings on it Windows very dirty and dusty
Family friendly accommodation in a beautiful part of Tassie. Hosts were friendly and the meals were excellent. We enjoyed our short stay.
Great location. Having the pub/restaurant on site is an added bonus. Great food and a wonderful host.
The whole atmosphere of this idyllic place was so relaxing and peaceful You felt like you were home Our hosts Jenny & Pete were more than happy to please Dining was also a great experience
Giants Table and Cottages was a gem of a find. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Our cottage was roomy, comfortable and had everything we needed for our 3 day stay. It is close to two National Parks with beautiful hiking trails. The resort grounds even has platypus in the ponds. The restaurant and bar were an extra plus. All round excellent place to stay in our travels around Tasmania. Chuck and Barb, Michigan, USA
Liked overall cleanliness, everything worked as it should.
The grounds were beautiful, it was lovely seeing the alpacas and birds. We ate at the restaurant here and the food was absolutely lovely. Very welcoming and friendly.
