It has all I need, private bathroom, kitchen. There’s grocery stores nearby. And stuff is very nice and helpful!
I liked the area and Elizabeth is very nice.
This tiny cabin had everything you may need for the night (frying pan in good condition (better that few houses we stayed in:), pan, kettle, spatula, olive oil, even hair dryer). Heating system is awesome, warms up the cabin very quickly. Everything was very clean too. Loved it!!!
It was amazing experience. I will come and stay again
We stayed at 5 different places on our Iceland visit and Gesthus Selfoss was the best value BY FAR of all of them. Cabins were well appointed, fully functional, and comfortable. Nice little veranda with table/chairs. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was an extra charge but reasonable and nice. We ended up staying an extra night, on a weekend, and they found rooms for us.
The cabin we stayed in was alright for a family of 3 for one night, but I could imagine it being very cramped for more people or longer stay. There's a small kitchenette, but it's hard to do any cooking due to the tight space. We were feeling lucky to have the cabin to stay though looking at the camping tents right outside our window as it was raining very hard throughout the night.
Great cottage at a camp site
Great location near local amenities, it is also at the local camping site. Reasonably priced, condition may not be the most modern, but ok. There is breakfast served at the camp site restaurant at additional cost, but did not try.
It met our needs on our ring road trip.
Bathroom Stank
Although the small cabin was basically fine in terms of comfort, there was a strong smell coming from the bathroom, like a pit toilet stank, which was so powerful we needed to keep the door to the bathroom closed. Even keeping the window open was not enough to dissipate it.
Reasonabke price. Good for a night with private bath.
Awesome cabin!! Picture exactly as shown.
Kitchenette very serviceable. Room clean and just right for us as we were passing through.
Cute cabin walking distance from Selfoss. Kitchen has a stove but no microwave.
Nice comfortable accommodations with hot tub on deck as an added bonus. Kitchen had all necessary equipment and the cabin was very spacious and quiet.
Quiet area, good size room, kitchen had everything we needed.
Great stay and they had everything needed. The service was very nice as well. Cooked a little dinner in our room, showered and slept. It was perfect for our needs.
2 bedroom bungalow, had full kitchen. This unit had a bit tub which was so wonderful after a day of sightseeing. Bonus saw the northern lights. Staff very friendly.
Nice stay
Gesthus Selfoss is actually a fairly large (& popular !) campsite for tents, RV's and of course cabins (which we rented). The cabin was comfortable, clean and for us (we had a rental car) very conveniently located. If we wanted to, we could have prepared meals (has 2-burner range, fridge, etc.) By the way, Selfoss is a very nice town and not far (15km) from the Kerið Crater Lake. Do book early because Selfoss is a popular stop for Golden Circle travelers. Two excellent restaurant experiences for us were: 'BK Bakari' in the morning (coffee, made on site breads, pastries, sandwiches) and 'Tryggvaskali' for dinner (amazing food & service; put a reservation in place)
Unexpected Maintenance
Unfortunately, Gesthus Selfoss was under maintenance, so they transferred us to Bella Apartments. Everything was nice, but as we were expecting a hot tub at Gesthus Selfoss, there is not one at Bella hotel so we were slightly disappointed.
Nice quick stay. The Wi-Fi did not reach our cabin though so the tv didn’t work and we didn’t have internet to research our next day’s activities
Perfect location. The hut was convenient, clean, easy to find
Nice cabin. However there were no black-out blinds in the main room with the sofa bed. It was very hard to sleep with so much sunlight.
The room was good condition near a nice camping area. There is a laundry machine in the common area. The nice restaurants are at 5 minutes driving distance.
We stayed in the Hvummar cabin and it was lovely! Spacious rooms (one with 2 twin beds and one with an queen bed), bathroom, living room, kitchen/dining area plus a large deck with a dining area, a grill, and a private hot tub. We enjoyed watching the birds and visiting with the neighborhood cat. The attached camp ground (for campers and tents) filled quickly, as there was a soccer tournament next door. The property is quite close to the Selfoss food hall, although we didn’t go. We went to the nearby Bonus for groceries and to the liquor store in the same parking lot for a few beers and cooked our own dinner and breakfast. We would definitely stay here again - and hope to do so again soon!
Very good cabin Great hot tub
Staff were pleasant
Room was old and outdated. Kitchen was basic. Mould on the window sills from the constant condensation in the room. No block out curtain on door window. The matress was old and lumpy. The public washing machine and dryer were not clean and mouldy
It was a nice property, the hot tub was a nice touch. No towels in the kitchen to dry the dishes.
Great place!
Good n confortable
Very cozy and convenient spot
It was very cozy and exactly what we wanted after a long travel day. Slept like a baby, and close to town.
I enjoyed my stay. Checkout was at 11:00am but I was allowed to extend to 2:00pm. Thanks. James
The toilet smell terribly. We have to spray the perform to survive, we did not brush the teeth, no shower, really cannot handle the smell.
everything's broken
Everything doesn't function well...the bathroom smells bad, sprinkler and tap are broken..
Great property and location!
The cabin was very clean and has a little kitchen if you need to cook. It also has a nice porch. We could hear the campers outside a little bit but it wasn’t too loud. It was nice to have a private bathroom (which can be hard to find in Iceland!). The staff were very nice as well. Our stay was short but we enjoyed it!
We had a great experience staying at the Gesthus in Selfoss. It was in a great location, with a walkable grocery store and many dining options. The owners are very nice and very helpful as well. The rooms are clean and comfortable, spacious and functional. Highly recommend.
Having a little balcony was perfect to sit on and read in the sun. The rooms are cute. I struggled some with using the stove top but the staff was very helpful!
Love this place
Super nice place. Was told jacuzzi would be ready soon and we went right in. Candles and trees made it so very nice. Cabins share a wall and you don’t park right outside yiur cabin, but its not far.
Great location. Felt like a cabin in the woods
The shower was small and there was very little soap (and no way to refill it that night, according to staff). The room was spacious and had plenty of amenities and I enjoyed the porch in the front.
The stay was OK, but the message channel did not work well. The site message asks guests to contact them 72 hours before the stay. I did, but no responses, same about injuries about breakfast. We also left something in the fridge and asked to retreat them, but the response came quite late, too late to allow its cleaning crew to take care of it. The little cabin though does offer good convenience with a little kitchen. There are good bakeries in the town for breakfast.
Quick check in!
Very cute cabin. We liked it a lot. There is a small kitchenette and outdoor sitting area. The staff is very friendly. I recommend getting breakfast elsewhere.
Loved my little cabin. Cosy and comfy with all you need.
Much cleaner than I had expected! Shower is in the bathroom, wifi in the room was super fast.
Great value
Great place for the price, simple and clean with nice amenities
Great location. Good value for money. Close to loads of attractions.
Comfortable and clean!
We stayed in a cabin and it was lovely and comfortable! Only downside was it was very easy to hear the neighbors in the same cabin.
It couldn't be better than this. It's a fantastic place for the price.
Beautiful location, friendly staff, very warm in winter and great value.
We had a lovely little cabin with a little birch woods outside of our door. Some reviews complained about the size of the beds.....well, there is a single bed a little larger than a twin size with a small single bed bunked above it, and another small twin bed on its own which was plenty big enough for me and was very comfortable. The cabin was nice a warmly comfortable and had microwave, 2 burners, a fridge, sink, pans and dishes. The only problem we had was we fried burgers because we needed a quick meal and it set off the smoke detector. I rarely fry at home anyway, but if you do fry it is best to leave the door to the cabin cracked open! At least we knew the alarm was working! Best shower we have had in the country in our 11 nights here, even though they were all good. Free laundry by reception. They also offer a breakfast for maybe 1500ISK but we did not know this and had already fixed our own. Conveniently located, easy to find, includes a big campground if you visit in that season. Too much light around there to see the aurora though...would have to travel further out into the country for that.
Cute cabins, no housekeeping
This guesthouse is a collection of cute cabins, each with a tiny kitchen and a private bathroom. The cabins are warm and comfortable. The service is a bit lacking though: there's no housekeeping. I've stayed for 3 nights and didn't get any new towels or shampoo and they don't even empty the garbage.
Cute little cabins, perfect for my sister and I. Our cabin had a small kitchen with some pans and kettle. We had a bunk bed & a single bed which fits 4 so we had a lot of space for us two. Friendly staff highly recommend.
Perfect for our needs. Wish we had been able to stay longer than one night!
Lovely, small guesthouses in a quiet location. The hosts are very helpful. They sell hand-knitted items and the prices here were less expensive than anywhere else in Iceland (and I checked throughout all our stops on the Ring Road). I am extremely pleased with the quality of the items I bought and wish I had purchased more!
Very relaxing cottage stay
The wooden cottage was warm with home feel decorations. Room has fridge, microwave and stovetop to cook simple meal. Owner's dog called Modes very cute and clever, he greet me outside my cottage in the morning:)
Basic but comfortable and great location.
Good price and got what we expected. Place to crash in the evenings whilst exploring the fantastic scenery nearby. Late check in was appreciated. One annoying feature was that the hobs were very weak and not possible to cook on (took over 15 mins on full power and still water had not boiled).
Great location and easy to find. Cabin was warm, cozy, and clean. Staff was kind and accommodating. They gave us a tour of the cabin and showed us how to use the heat, hot tub, shower, etc.
Good
Good gesthús for few night
We had a 2 br wood cabin! It was clean and was perfect for our family of four! Had outdoor hot tub which we filled up directly from a hot water line from inside the house! There was an outdoor barbecue grill with excellent kitchen inside. We only stayed for one night so unfortunately he did not take it vantage of all the Cabin had to offer. The area was absolutely perfect after a day in the golden circle
Nice little spot, hot tub at your hands, cabins are small but they are enough for a stay for 1 night
Three Bed Cabin #14
Fast and easy check in, pre-paid on Expedia so it only took a few minutes. Our cabin was small but cosy, and had everything you could possibly need. 3 beds, 1 single 2 bunk, a table, 1 eletric stove, pots, pans, cups, hot water maker. Bathroom inside the unit. Beds weren't the most comfortable unfortunately, and kinda small. Less then a twin size it seemed. If this place included breakfast it would be perfect. Their cafe was very nice, and hot tub useage is complementary!
Great cabins in a convenient location
Gesthús Selfoss is a really cute place to stay. We stayed for two nights and our cabin was quiet and comfortable. The kitchenette is small but has everything you'd need to prepare food. Great wifi too.
Lovely guest house!!!
Lovely place! Spacious and plenty of parking space
Would recommend
Great value for money. Basic accommodation with kitchenette (2 hobs, microwave and kettle). Warm and with hot water. We were adjacent to another couple/family and so it was fairly noisy but that is the only negative point as long as you’re not expecting luxury!
Lovely little cabin of our own
We loved that we had a small cozy little cabin to ourselves, which had everything we needed. The small kitchen was fully equipped and the whole place was very nice and quiet. The location was great, and it was very close to the grocery stores.
We really enjoyed our stay here! Love the cabins and the kitchenette. Also - great hot tub to relax in at the end of a long day of sightseeing.
Selfoss: one of the best place in Iceland!
Very nice place immerged in the nature with all the comforts. A small house with beds, kitchen and a bathroom, close to all supermarkets and interesting turistic points.
Hermosas cabañas
Personnel accueillant
Seulement une nuit sur place prévue pour une escale pendant notre voyage mais petit logement très bien pensé et avec le nécessaire de confort ! Le personnel est très gentil et de bons conseil!
Bed bug infestation
We stayed in Hof Cottage. Within the first hour, we found a bed bug in our room. It was horrendous and made the rest of our stay uncomfortable. We were luckily given another house for the night, but it was inconvenient. Our vacation was ruined after that with the lasting thought of bed bugs lingering in our luggage. Take the high praise of this location with a grain of salt. You never know what you may find. We would not recommend staying here to our friends or family despite having high hopes.
The house where we stayed was well soundproofed. In good general condition even if the bathroom needs updating. There are 2 hot tubs on the property which we enjoyed. Parking in the immediate vicinity. No local nearby, you have to move with a vehicle

We dislikedvit so much we checked into another hotel. Very concerned about the bedding and the smell. Would never recommend.
