Very Pleasant Stay
Lovely room, nice decor and furniture and a decent size. Wifi was very good. Kettle in the room but there was a sign saying no cooking so I presume that means you can't use the kettle for making noodles. There is a grocery shop just behind the hotel which was very convenient. In front of the hotel is the seafront which was very nice.
Check in was easy and staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms were big and spacious clean. Walk to shopping and restaurants easily.
Fosshotel Baron was in a great location in Reykjavik. Only one road off the water, the semi-obstructed view reminded us that we were on an island every morning. From the hotel, we were within easy walking distance (5-10 minutes) of dozens of restaurants and as many shops. A twenty minute walk takes you to Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Center and five more minutes takes you to city center with even more restaurants and shops. So many sites within walking distance. The hotel has a good warm breakfast with plenty of options, the rooms are clean, and the beds are comfortable.
Was a great spot to stay. If you have a rental car beware of where you park. Front desk staff will advice you where to park. The beds were terrible.
Great work!
We really enjoyed ourselves! Thank you!
Tired hotel. Matress is sagging and needs replacement. Shower tray damaged and tiny, so difficult to shower normally without the shower curtain not sticking to you.... yes a shower curtain, no basic enclosure. Expensive for what it is.
This property is alright for a quick 1 or 2 night stay. It seems like an older building that has no special features. The bathroom is quite small and the shower is tiny (If you are any more than 5.5 you will be cramped!). However, the beds are comfortable and the room felt safe and secure. The staff are very friendly, helpful and professional. The breakfast buffet is very good, with lots of options (keep in mind, the breakfast is an extra charge). Also only a block or two from several restaurant options.
The hotel was clean with basic amenities. It was good value for the price in Iceland. Check in and check out was easy. They had onsite parking which we found a bit confusing to use as it is a third party operator. The buffet breakfast was amazing definitely worth adding onto your trip given the cost of food in Iceland.
friendly staff
The desk staff were fantastic, consistently friendly and helpful. The mattress was a little too firm for my tastes - I like them fairly firm, but not that much. There was a good number of pillows, of different thickness and firmness. There was hair clogged in the shower drain when I arrived, leading the tray to drain slowly and fill with water. There is a small kettle in the room, but the sink is very shallow and the kettle won't fit in it - the only way to get water into the kettle was to fill a glass with water and then pour that into the kettle several times over.
Great location and accommodating staff.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. Good location.
Great location
Bed and room were comfortable. Shower was terrible - very small and curtain clung to you the entire shower. Staff was very friendly. I was able to store my suitcases in the back room before checking in. Reykjavik is very walkable, lots of public transportation. One bad weather day I used the hopp app (like uber). Hotel close to sculpture walk and 15 minutes from the shopping area. Small grocery and atm available behind the hotel.
Ver comfortable room and bed. Very cozy. I would have liked a small chair, and the drapes were not aligned correctly. Maybe blackout drapes would be better.
Cozy beds
It was a lovely hotel. Great position for everything e.g. shops, bars, pick up points, restaurants Staff were friendly and very helpful Very good breakfast
It is a very convenient location, but the hotel room itself was dated. No furniture or decor to make the room more comfortable, such as a TV that allows chromecast or streaming, place to sit and put shoes on/off, or even a small sofa or couch to sit on. There are empty spaces around the room that could use decor/furniture to make it more comfortable. The rug is the worst part of the hotel room. It is dirty and looks like it hasn’t been replaced since the 1970s. The beds were comfortable and the sheets were soft, so ultimately not a bad hotel. Service was exceptional, breakfast buffet was great and consistent.
Friendly desk staff and great location
Great Place!
Great location! Easy to get to. Rooms were clean and nice
Quiet, safe area, across the street from waterfront
Didnt like s thing about this hotel because my flights were cancelled due to bad weather at the last minute so I never got to stay here, the hotel would not refund me any money or help at all they were useless and expedia were not much help either wont be using them again.
Very convenient location. Great breakfast
Our stay at Fosshotel Barón was excellent. The rooms were very clean and spacious. We enjoyed the breakfast as well. We will stay again.
On first impressions, the reception looked lovely and the staff were great but it was let down by the small minimal bedroom, basic bathroom and drafty velux windows which made the bedroom cold. The bed sheet was from the 80s (Terry towelling) which was uncomfortable. On the plus side, the pillows were lovely. Was disappointed and not worth the money 😞
The staff was very kind and allowed us to check in early for a fee. Instead of paying for their parking we parked down the street in a garage and on the street which ended up being very very cheap. The room was big and I would stay again.
It was great for us since we didn't have a car that night and was walkable to restaurants and shopping.
Walkable to tourist attractions and downtown Reykjavik
Super noisy during the night and morning. It was hard to get good sleep. Would not be staying here again. The rooms had no microwaves and no access to a public one. The kettle for tea and coffee was dirty. There are definitely better option than this.
A lovely room in a great location. Just wish the bathroom had been a bit easier to maneuver in.
This was a pleasant but ordinary place. The staff and the breakfasts were fine. The room was adequate but I could have done without the picture on the wall of some obscure old fashioned guy staring down at me. But my main complaint is the I requested an early morning alarm call. It never happened. Luckily I was awake but I could have missed my flight. Not good.
Everything was perfect and accommodating.
The carpet in the hotel room was very dirty. The shower facility was the worst I have experienced in a hotel. Specifically, the area for shower was extremely small with the shower curtain kept sticking on the skin while taking a shower.
Decent basic hotel room.
Last night in Iceland, just needed a hotel room. Comfy bed, small shower. Would be ok as a base for exploring this part of Iceland
FossHotel Baron is a Good Choice!!!
I made a good choice considering it was my first trip to Iceland and I picked it from online choices based on reviews. I was not disappointed. Before I arrived, staff from the hotel assisted me in arranging my transfer from the airport to the hotel and my tours during my visit. Then the hotel staff on site helped me complete my currency exchange and book my transfer back to the airport.
The room was very spacious, albeit a bit dated and there was a stain on the carpet by the door. The hotel is very conveniently located near the main street with a lot of shops, bars and restaurants, but far enough from the street that there wasn't any excessive noise on Friday or Saturday night.
Parking was spendy
The parking was really expensive but the hotel and breakfast was great
The room was both stylish and cozy, the location was convenient to restaurants, a small supermarket, buses, and the harbor front walking path. The breakfast buffet was phenomenal, better than anything I’ve seen in US hotels, and the staff went out of their way to be helpful.
Easily walkable to restaurants and attractions.Large room, plenty of space. Parking was not included and difficult to find (an you had to pay for it - no free parking in the area). Rooms were noisy (street noise and noise from hallway/surrounding rooms). Beds weren't comfortable.
Great Stay!
We found the room to be quite spacious and included a small living/sitting room area. Nice that the room had a mini fridge as well. No complaints during our stay. The staff was friendly and helpful.
The property was clean and close to all the sites and links you wanted to have access to
I'll pick a different hotel in Reykjavik next time
Not a fan of this hotel or the staff. Parking was absolutely horrible. The site said they have parking. It is extremely limited. There were 4 parking spots in P3 and the rest was unavailable due to construction. I would say the only thing I enjoyed was the location.
FossHotel Baron
The staff was extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable! The property is very basic, but it was clean and convenient to downtown.
Ok experience. Slow check in service. Breakfast good,
Very good hotel; helpful staff. Comfortable rooms. Good location.
Great hotel with central location
Hotel was in excellent central location , good spacious rooms , good breakfast
Expensive but that's Iceland
Room was okay. No mini fridge and very small. Location was good.
Highly recommend; good value
Location is excellent. Near shopping, restaurants, transportation, and waterfront. Breakfast is a highlight with broad spectrum of offerings…meats, cheeses, juices, coffees, pastries, fruits, cereals, etc. The skyr was particularly good. The room is clean, efficient and very comfortable. Cleaning is at the occupants option when needed. Pleasant staff.
Fosshotel Baron - A Reykjavik Bargain
Fosshotel Baron is fine for a reasonably priced stay in Reykjavik. It was clean, the staff was pleasant and helpful. They do not have a restaurant but do serve (self service) a good hot and cold breakfast. They are not far from restaurants - within less than 15 minute walk. The fancier restaurants are farther downtown. My room was very simple. There is a flat-screen tv, coffee maker and a hair dryer. The bathroom was interesting - supplied with a squeegee which I wondered about at first. The shower is not separated and the floor wasn't slanted toward the drain so nearly half the bathroom floor gets wet. Really wet. They need to put some kind of short barrier in. For a traveler like myself who doesn't require a great deal of amenities, the hotel was fine. I do wish they had a restaurant.
The staff were very friendly and helpful with getting us checked in and storing our luggage when we needed to check out early. The location is super convenient to restaurants and shops. Rooms were clean and spacious!
This hotel is definitely no frills. The breakfast was perfect for a hotel breakfast buffet. There were plenty of choices to satisfy all tastes. The location is currently surrounded by construction which may deter some visitors. It was walkable to the main shopping district and tourist attractions. The bed was comfortable. Lots of space to store clothing and suitcases. There were several outlets in the room to charge and use my devices. The facilities are old and dated but sufficient for our 4 night stay. The shower was quite the experience! It was tiny and hard to get our of the shower stream to lather up. It literally flooded the whole bathroom floor until I figured out to only pull the shower current over one side and leave the side closest to the floor drain open.
It is a great location with a great view.
Small but nice hotel room . My room is facing the harbor and have a good view . The room is clean and quiet . Will book again next visit .
They were so helpful in helping organize transport to and from airport. Everyone with whom I made contact was nice and respectful
Close to bus lines, a pizza shop across the street, walkable to some nice restaurants.
Nice hotel with walkable distance to the Sun Voyager and other Reykjavik spots. Convenient Dominoes opposite to the hotel and a convenience store behind it. Parking is unfortunately paid but you have the highest tier parking option and free street parking close by
All good except the rooms were a bit small...especially the bathroom.
The toilet is a joke.
Thanks for having me.
Hotel is very old feeling and in need of a refresh. Staff were helpful. Very clean. Loud area of the city. Major construction going on RIGHT next door.
It's a bit of an older hotel, but it is nice and clean, with friendly and helpful staff. The location is very convenient, right in the heart of downtown, making it easy to walk, shop, and dine at nearby restaurants. The staff can arrange easy transportation to the airport. I would definitely stay there again on my next visit.
All good!
Great location
It was adequate for a last night in Iceland before heading to the airport. A little outdated, but the staff were great, the breakfast was good, and it was an quick walk to restaurants, etc.
Helpful friendly staff, plenty within walking distance, small but clean rooms
Great hotel close to waterfront. We traveled as a family and got a 2 bedroom apartment. Balcony with water view. Walkable to shops and restaraunts.
Did not like that parking was extra.
Comfortable hotel. Good breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. We loved how the tours used a very efficient bus system. Walkable to the places we wanted to visit! Thank you.
Nice hotel!
Helpful, friendly staff who greeted us on arrival. The room was clean, quiet and roomy. The hotel was very convenient and walkable to shops and restaurants. Would stay here again.
I’ve stayed here twice and both times I had an excellent time. Rooms were spacious and clean.
No free parking and shower was too small compared to others.
Reykjavik Stay
This hotel is very centrally located and was great for us. We did not have a car and were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The hotel is older but very well kept.
Enjoyed the stay, great location for walking. Parking was generally easy, only needed to find street parking once.
Nobody did housekeeping. They cgarged ne $24 per day for breakfast, telling your room did not incluude that, which is very wrong. I had breakfast includrd checkbox sekected, and choosing rooms ot was just bed options. Breakfast was goid but exactly same everyday. Front desk was not helpful upon asking directions and for early chexkin.its at one end of main street and across sun voyager, so location is not central but good. I think its okay, and room and comfort not worth the price they charged.
Decent hotel. A bit overpriced for what it was, but very convenient location and easy to get transportation to and from hotel.
We had a nice view of the bay. It was convenient for exploring downtown. Parking on the property requires payment but there’s public parking nearby.
Good value overall. The buffet breakfast free for kids is a tremendous value! Close the windows and start heating when you get there.
Staff was very helpful
Well located hotel, comfortable rooms. It was just a quick one night overnight, so I didn't have a chance to use any of the facilities. But the staff were great (Muhammad on front desk especially) in helping to provide information and making transportation arrangements.
The family suite is a great option for families traveling with children
Best location
Okay
Good - location and opportunity to park but paid. Toilet was outdated . Hotel still uses keys instead of smart cards,
Family in Iceland
It was a very nice breakfast and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Close to great shops and pubs
Very nice hotel, our room was spacious and very close to a shopping street and the emblematic church. Right in front of the seaside and close to the voyager. Would stay there again
Nicer hotel with exceptional customer service. Room was very spacious and we had a two room suite with our children and ourselves. No air conditioning as we expected that in Iceland. They graciously offered us fans because it was warm for us. Beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed having breakfast each morning in the hotel.
Great location apartmen like view stay.
Loved this apartment like hotel with a balcony that had terrific views. Weekend was perfect, week day had construction noise, but that should be completed soon. Wonderful location and great space.
Good location and closed to most of the tourists attractions
This is a fine hotel, but we stayed during major construction and the hotel itself was hard to get around with wheelie suitcases (hallways are not smooth, there are large wooden dividers along the floor at doorways). Also the shower had the worst water pressure I have ever had in a hotel. Breakfast was awesome. We had to pay for parking which seemed a bit weird for a hotel, it is in an area with no free street parking. All in all, this was everyone's least favorite hotel on our two week trip!
This hotel was in a reasonable area, But has not been maintained. The room I was in literally had a square hole cut out of the carpet. The size of the room was adequate, The bathroom has not been updated in many years. Parking is a problem. The staff was helpful
Clean and reasonably priced. I did not like the elevator situation. Too small and slow. I was on the 4th floor and needed to use it.
Friendly staff-cute bar in lobby
nice
Just OK
Decent location, but the hotel needs refurbishing. Carpets stained, bathroom ancient, and windows barely functional
Great and Easy Stay!
Was a great place to stay! They let us check in early which was a life saver, and everything us was great. Only thing to keep in mind, parking can be a bit expensive to be aware of that
Quiet location but close to everything.
Good stuff: Eco-friendly: housekeeping on request only, separate bins for bottles, paper and general waste. Takes getting used to, but found that daily housekeeping is not essential. Wonderful, friendly and helpful staff. Clean room, linen and towels. Clean and tidy restaurant and food area. Breakfast has a good variety of foods, tasty breads, boiled eggs peeled and sliced, many types of fruits and nuts. Skyr exceptionally good. Good quiet location close to the water, walking distance to public transit, shopping, restaurants and most museums. Grocery store behind the hotel. Not so good: No hooks in bathroom to hang towels/clothes, shelf over the small sink too low, so a challenge to avoid hitting forehead. Shower stall small, with not bars or rails to hold onto. Could be dangerous as the wraparound shower curtain would not stop a fall. In spite of the bathroom, we had a wonderful stay at this property. A bit pricey, but everything is somewhat expensive in this mesmerizing country.
Clean comfortable and quiet room Helpful staff Good location
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful!
Fosshotel Barón | Hotel in Reykjavik | Travala.com
Had a great stay at the Fosshotel Baron last week. The staff there are warm and welcoming and check in is quick and efficient. The facility is clean, with seating areas and a restroom on the main floor. Breakfast included a wide variety of foods, and their breakfast box was great! As an Expedia VIP, I got access to free welcome drinks which was a nice surprise. The room I was in was small but I knew that going into the trip. It made good use of the space though, and the location couldn't be beat. Would recommend a stay here for anyone looking to explore Reyjkavik!
