The desk guy is always super nice. We are grateful to have a reasonably priced, convenient place to stay in Portlamd.
The property is safe. I love their service. They should just change the room carpet.
SERVICE ASSITANCE ANIMALS NOT PERMITTED HERE
Service animals ARE NOT PER.ITTED, even tho tbe site says they do. We made a reservation, when we arrived we were denied a room per the front desk due to having a service animal with us.
Very good price for my 5 night stay a bit noisy with the max trains running right next to my room luckily im used to trains overall it was perfect for what i needed on a short notice trip to Portland
it is nice closes to restaurant and 12 minutes to court house, but it to noise until 11pm and noise back 4:45 am on sunday morning, the garage only for cars
Good value
Great location near Portland State University and downtown, including coffee shops and restaurants. Staff was accommodating and helpful. Onsite free parking was tight but very helpful. Initial impression of hallway with soiled carpets and cigarette smell was unfortunate. There were debris on the floor under the beds in our room, though otherwise room was clean and fresh, bed comfortable. Bathroom small but functional with update shower surround. This is directly adjacent to a light rail track, so ear plugs would be good if you want to go to sleep early or get up late.
Well the staff let me check in early and we're very nice and respectful
The property was a bit small parking tight but other then that room was clean ,
The staff is very friendly and easy to communicate with.
The front desk staff was kind and knowledgeable
Cozy
Don’t Stay Here
The free parking was so small I damaged my car while parking. The room was in poor condition, The carpet seller mildew. The furniture was shabby. The bed did not have a top sheet. The whole property needs an update.
The parking is extremely limited and is on a first come first serve basis. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the room was clean and spacious. I would definitely come back!
Staff was great :)
Given the low price and the 1 star rating the Value INN was a positive surprise - quite clean and nicely updated. It was across the street car station and also 20 to 30 minutes walk away from must sees in the downtown area.
Some value for sure, be careful parking
Stayed for 5 days. Location was great, on site laundry was handy. Pretty dated and dingy, and the tiny parking lot led to me putting a scratch on my rental car that cost me more than my entire stay.
It is good value for the price, but noisy place, the room does not isolate sound well. Cleaness needs improvement. Room also needs a bit more furniture.
Amazing staff
Old well-situated hotel.
The hotel is very convenient, located near Portland downtown. The hotel is an old building that required a lot of updating, but for a one-night stay, it is perfect to explore the city passing by. Did I mention free parking.
There was no parking so the person working told me to back into a small spot in front of his car/office. However, there was a large pole right in the way that you couldn’t see. It damaged my car very badly. He was guiding me in to the spot and did t say anything! They would not give me their insurance information.
Unable to check in due to unexpected additional charges not disclosed to booking site. Staff lacked empathy and understanding offered no actual service which lacked further upon hearing we didn’t have enough to check in.
It was walking distance to restaurants and close to where we needed to go. No elevator made it difficult to carry bag up stairs. Trolley went by every 15 minutes and was noisy, the whole floor smelled like pot, and the staff acted like I had asked for a million dollars when I asked for an extra blanket. n
The only parking offered was a small lot under the building and the spaces were too small to accommodate most vehicles. We were forced to park a block away from the location, pay for the overnight parking and we had to haul our luggage that distance. When I said something to the person checking us in he shrugged his shoulders and said "yeah it can be a challenge to park here." Overall this location did not match the description given at all and was very disappointing.
It was extremely noisy wether the window was open or not. A lot of people out on the street yelling, after the cop cars showed up it seemed to quiet down. Other than that is was ok.
Easily accessible to street car
We asked to get into our room to change for a wedding 30 mins before hand and was told our room wasn’t ready unless we paid $100. So we did and it was ready. The place was dirty!
Pics look nicer then room we actually got!
This was a fairly cheap stay but I liked it. There is a pizza place next door with beer, and a CVS across the street if you need almost anything. Surprisingly for Portland, there was not a bunch of tents around this place. Parking is included so that was a huge bonus but it is tight and limited so I don't recommend full size trucks or suvs. Carpet was new, bathroom was clean, and linens smelled of bleach(clean). I think I was on the third floor and I don't believe there is an elevator. I would like to stay here again.
The front desk agent was very nice and friendly. The room was clean and had all the necessities but the overall hotel seems to need an update in terms of carpeting and flooring (floors were uneven) overall though a good place to stay for the price point. I would recommend an extra lock on the doors too
Room has strange smell. No elevator. Access not friendly. There is no actual parking where my car Chrysler 300 won’t fit. To park the car on the street required additional payment. Staff is rude and overall hotel is dirty. Worst experience in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beat expectations for the price.
A block away from my conference center at PSU. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Mattress was super comfortable and everything was clean and working (TV and streaming, WiFi, A/C).
Place needs some love and some money put into it. It isnt a bad property but it is teetering on that edge.
Hotel parking is TERRIBLE! Under the rooms. Anyone could get into our room from standing ontop of their car. Especially since the window lack and screen were broken. In the VERY dirty room: the door suctions every time another door shut. Sounding like someone was trying ro open it. There was a hole of rotten flooring about 1.5 inches deep, just before the bathroom entrance. The bathroom had tile that stuck up/moved when you step. There was no drain stopper to take a bath (not that i would, it was filthy), the water spicket and nobs moved forwared and backward as you touch them. The carpet was dark and sticky from dirt. The floors creaked everywhere. I was afraid our rooms floors were going to cave in ontop of a vehicle in the parking garage below me.not to mention the a/c on max couldnt kee the room cooled because it blows direct ontop the fridge/microwave and would freeze the metal, not cool the room.AND THE LIGHT SWITCH TURNS OFF ALL OUTLETS IN THE ROOM, EVEN THE TV AND AC!!! So dont turn off the lights
Great Location!
This is a GREAT location! Great service, clean rooms, friendly staff! The beds were a little hard for me but it’s worth it for the location and price! We’ll stay here again!
Parking was limited, room orientation was not intuitive. The staff was very friendly though, and it was affordable!
It’s a good property, nice area, very conveniently placed with a coffee shop, cvs, and restaurant/ bar. Good staff.
.
2 street cars roll and ring bell beside motel. Lucky they stop for a few hours in the wee of the night
Great value for a downtown motel, comfy beds, friendly staff
great, great people, great location, great price, great portland
Convenient little spot for a quick 1 night stay. Nothing fancy but the area seemed safe and there was a small parking lot to use.
Close to downtown. Walkable and next to PSU. Parking spaces are small and very much so limited. Staff was friendly. No elevator unfortunately. I don’t required much when staying somewhere. It is next to rail transit so be prepared to hear it. Overall, would stay here again…it was comfortable and inexpensive.
One night stay
Nice cozy room very clean
Ewwwwwww brother, ewwwww
There was trash under all of the furniture it didn't look like the room had been cleaned very well. There was tape over the door locks, so I had to pull it off before I could lock my door. It smell like smoke and paint and mold. And there was vomit on the ground outside the main door. The night manager seemed pleasantal enough and told me he would clean up the vomit. It seemed like he was also dealing with somebody trying to get inside the building, so he was a little distracted. But very nice
The staff was very nice, the property you get what you pay for. it's not fancy or nice but it worked for 1 quick night.
Right next to noisy trolley line. Other guests were arguing in hallway at 2am. Dodgy characters in neighborhood after dark. Room was adequate and clean. Staff were pleasant. Parking was tricky for anything but a compact.
The staff was great the rooms were dirty the windows dirty thungs spilled all over them carpet dirty no plug for us to take a bath the drain for the bathtub looked like it had mold hair on the towels
I loved the spacious room! And the TV channel selection. The staff were helpful, extremely! Not the fault of this establishment, but finding and parking were confusing. We did figure it out, tho. There are just so very many one way streets! Even our GPS was confused! Lol!
Staff was very professional and helpful.
i mean man...what can i say?
for the price, i'd say it was amazing. my detailed bedbug check came up clean so i can't complain. yes the mattress was stained, and YES it looked like blood, but i had an amazing trip. the staff was so kind and accommodating. i may not have felt very clean or fancy, but i did feel very safe. the location and price is worth some dirt and potential bloodstains. so random, but the tv did randomly turn on every morning at like 4am...ghosts? could that be connected to the bloodstains? up for debate. the possibility of murder made the sex better somehow? i'm getting off topic. keep your expectations as low as the price and you'll likely be pleasantly surprised. would def stay again.
Very run down, old and slightly smelly property. Mold in the otherwise clean shower. The frequent low frequency rumbling of the streetcars outside was noticeable. Staff was friendly.
Don't stay here!
So bad, we didn't even stay there. Floors were dirty in all the halls, like it hadn't been vacuumed in weeks. We were there about two minutes and left. The guy at counter understood why we weren't going to stay and said he'd refund our money
Pleasant Stay
I had a large group staying in 3 hotel rooms at the property. The front desk clerk was friendly, efficient and very accomodating.
Great location! Very friendly staff. The room was clean and functional.
The front desk staff were friendly and informative. The location is great, and everything was clean and worked. The parking takes a some care, but for free parking downtown I should not complain.
Best value i have found
They got me checked in within 3 minutes. Felt very safe. Perfect location. Train station across the street. I was able to get everywhere i needed to including returning from a trailblazer game with only one train. It will be my number one choice in the future. Note: other reviews make note of the transients. Its important to point out that transients are normal in many cities. Not an issue at all with my experience.
Great bang for the buck
No-frills hotel right in downtown Portland. Easily walkable to waterfront, bridges, the main downtown areas and way cheaper, buses and trams. Definitely dated and in need of love, but the price easily makes up for it. Shower had a temperature issue and needed maintenance. The climate control was a bit tricky but worked OK once I figured out. Bed was comfortable and there was ample space in the room. Wi-Fi worked very well. Area was safe around - no concerns. Didn't use parking but it wasn't as sketchy as some people wrote. Just might be a tight squeeze for large cars. Some might get bothered by the streetcars that pass right outside the window, but I always sleep with earplugs and heard absolutely nothing. Would totally stay again.
Staff is outstanding - its portland, or - so surrounding area and people are to be expected to be disgusting
I did not actually get to stay here. My daughter and I did not make it to the hotel until about 2am. The woman at the desk was extremely unpleasant, she told me there was no reservation under my name, when in fact I had reserved with Expedia days in advance. We were turned away and I was forced to look for another hotel at 2am! On top of all of this, I was still charged at Downtown Inn. I eventually was refunded. I would never book here again nor recommend this place to anybody. The woman who works at night needs some training, she should not be allowed to deal with customers until she learns proper customer care.
Good experience
Our stay was great! We needed a place to stop on our way home and this hotel was right along the way, reasonably priced, and in a good location. It's an older hotel, but perfect for our needs. We slept well.
I’ve been staying at this location on of and on for several years and it has always been a safe and convenient spot while visiting Portland.
It was nice for rating. The staff was really accommodating. I usually stay at 3 to 4cstar places but i will likely return here.
A great find in Portland!
Very comfortable older motel. Very friendly staff. Great location and good price! I always stay here when I visit family.
Definitely a good value. Nothing exciting, but was clean and staff was friendly. No frills. Parking was nice but not for larger vehicles - it’s very tight. Location is fantastic.
Horrible place to stay. Old lady at the front desk was so rude. The parking was bad every time I would go to my car there was homeless.
All employers are kind, polite, well mannered and professional. It was a excellent experience for me. 5 ✨
I was getting ready for bed, pulled down the sheets and noticed several pieces of hair in between the sheets. As if someone laid there and they didn’t change the sheets. As the front desk for new linen the lady was rude and asked if I could change the sheets myself because she had to watch the front desk… she ended up moving me to another room - this time the sheets were stained. Couldn’t get a refund on the remaining nights for the room I had paid in advance for
Staff was EXCELLENT ! I really enjoyed my stay ! Thank you very much !
Really cool spot and great location
Great spot for travelers on a budget! The place was super clean and check in/out was seamless. The front desk staff was always very nice and helpful as well. It’s definitely not the fanciest place in Portland but the price and location couldn’t be beat. The only downside is that the parking garage was really small and steep, but still would highly recommend this spot!
It wasn’t anything fancy but for the location and price it was perfect! The staff were all super helpful and nice. I would stay again for sure.
Parking is a tough situation here. They have a underground lot but the spots are very small and have support columns that make it hard to fit a small car. We were in a compact vehicle and ended up street parking after scratching our vehicle.
The Portland Street Car runs right past the hotel and is loud.
Service was great, comfortable beds.
A friendly place to stay in town
The reception is nice. A good place for me to join Portland Marathon. Close to start line.
Parking is very tight. The layout of the hotel is a bit confusing. The room itself was decent. Outside noise was loud in the morning, but that was expected.
Parking space was cramped and tiny. Pillars chipped a piece of my side mirrors from trying to get out. Parking is also first come first serve, and they don’t provide any assistance to accommodate, basically telling us to suck it up. Showers were extremely cold/lukewarm, barely heating up. I tried to get towels one night and the woman at the desk complained about it and accused me of bringing additional guests. She also yelled at my friends when they accidentally tried to go through the wrong door. DO NOT GO HERE. Not worth your money, not worth your time. They didn’t help us at all. Had to park at a garage that was 6 minutes away.
Surprisingly good , clean hotel
First , everyone working at the front desk was very friendly the room was a good size and clean. Since being right next to transit, it could be a little noisy but felt like it was a safe area next to a pizza/bar place and food trucks Just let you know there is no elevator but still an easy walk up. No complaints really
Nice front desk
The lady at the front desk was so friendly that she made the stay better. However, the smell of my bed was so bad (like the mattress rally needed replaced ) that I couldn’t sleep.
Parking sucks if you have a normal size car. Parking spaces are limited so if your car does not fit in their spots, you have to find parking outside and you must move your car before you get a ticket super early in the morning. Best bet is to pay to park your car in a garage and walk to this hotel with your luggage. :/rooms dirty and moldy. Towels had some red marks on them and there was hair on them too.
liiked the location of the property and access to hwy was very good. The room and bathroom was old but clean, just needed a place to stay for one night. The staff was very helpful and nice.
Good location
Budget hotel in a good location
The thing that stands out most clearly for me about my two-night stay is what an absolute pleasure it was dealing with the staff. Just such clearly lovely, helpful, good people, and they just made my last weekend in Portland after nine years a truly sweet pleasure. Thank you.
THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WILL KEEP YOU COMING BACK
This place was good value, it was close to places around downtown and the room itself was quite clean. Building appeared a little older and the room smelt a bit musty (??) and could feel the train go past outside. However we slept ok and had a good stay overall.
Location is convenient. Staff is friendly. No elevator if you have stair climbing issues or heavy luggage. (though only two and a half floors)
Good budget motel
Offers a good price, especially compared with other similar motels in the downtown area. Rooms have been upgraded in recent years (I've stayed several times). Good free WiFi, fridge, microwave, good cable TV menu, A/C works well, comfortable bed. No in room or lobby coffee. The only real drawback to the place is that they do not have enough parking spaces to cover every guest beyond a certain number. Parking is under the establishment and several of the slots are extremely difficult to negotiate because of narrow spaces and huge concrete support pillars. I got one of these slots and unfortunately got some minor scratches near one rear wheel well. So I recommend not parking in one of these spaces unless you are very careful. There are a few others not directly near the concrete pillars, and if you can't get one of those, park in one of the nearby city lots for a few extra bucks a day. Street parking is limited by availability and hours.
It was ok... but 1 big issue.
Overall a pretty good experience based on location to a nearby market, CVS, walking distance to food trucks and restaurants. Also close to the street car and max lines. Only issue is the parking structure is very tight with a few inches on both sides. The slots are also at a tight angle. very little clearance when backing up. My rental car got wedge and was scratched up.
Really nice Staff
Check in was easy, the staff on check in and check out super friendly.
Cheap and close to downtown.
Close to everything. Nice helpful staff. Dirty stairs. Loose wobbly toilet. Lots of city noise.
Good place
Nicole at front desk was great. Location was awesome for connecting to transit. Plenty of food options within blocks. Would stay again!
Room was in terrible condition.
Underwhelming experience
The hotel is low end and lacks basic amenities. The room was clean however, but "felt" dirty to me. The bed was not very comfortable and the mattress was probably way past its prime. However, the staff was excellent in assisting me with my issue and I am very thankful to them and their prompt handling of the matter.
The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. The location is very convenient, walkable and easy to access transit. Parking is available but very few and narrow options available (doable but might be tough with a bigger car). The bus/public transportation might be a bit loud but manageable.
Good location.
I like how when I asked for my fridge & room to be clean 3 separate times it never got done

This property is fine except beds are awful. Expedia overcharged me 30$ and then gave me a $15 discount so I thought I was doing good! Don't use Expedia! They're crooks! Customer service is excellent at this location un
