The hotel was convenient for our purposes, friendly and helpful staff but bloody expensive bar and food. Would stay there again but not eat there or use the bar.
Overall a let down, expected so much more. Hotel facilities are good, great area, good gym, pool and restaurant (if not a bit pricey for what you’re getting). But it needs investment, a deep clean and some staff training. Staff overall were friendly and helpful, and room was a good size. However, hotel really needs a deep clean, while the beds and bathroom were clean, the carpets were filthy, room was dusty, there were stickers on side of bed with dead moths in it (assume it’s to catch them). below what you would have expected from the hotel. Of the 3 nights we stayed, first day beds were done, but tea/coffee not refilled, no clean cups, and carpets not vacuumed. Phoned twice over 4 hours to get some teabags for the room. Second day room wasn’t even visited, beds not done, no new towels, no new cups, bins not emptied. Returned to hotel at 4pm. Had to call again No parking on second day because of a wedding on with inconsiderate drivers (4/5 cars parked over lines). Reg numbers given, was told it would be raised with duty manager. Saw others raising same issue with reception, nothing done about it as far as I could tell. Good breakfast, although told we had to pay £8 per child even though we were told everyone included when we phoned prior to booking. Duty manager sorted this quickly, no fuss which was good. Dinner at restaurant was good, pricey but charged for 2 year old despite booking confirmation stating kids under 5 are free with adult meal. Refunded.
Most enjoyable
Stunning hotel
Lovely hotel. Very clean, great spa and comfy rooms. Loads of parking Resturant was exceptionally good for both dinner and breakfast
Dunblane with the grandchildren
A very enjoyable stay. We ate in the dining room and had a superb breakfast and a lovely dinner. Our room was spacious and comfortable.
It was a lovely environment and most of the staff were lovely
A good night's sleep
Comfortable beds in clean and tidy rooms. Good range of options for breakfast and the dining room is lovely. Really good views from the windows if you are lucky enought o get a seat there. Most of the double rooms seem to be in the annex. You won't necessarily be getting a room in the old building.
Noisy room
Great staff and service but radiator pipes made loud clanging noise at 6am. I have previously stated at this hotel and had the same issue which has clearly not been rectified.
Good stay!
We had a lovely time. Staff were helpful and polite! Dinner was great and breakfast was amazing!
Fabulous hotel
Fabulous hotel, love the pool, room, food and staff are amazing.
Pretty hotel with great little bar. The bathroom had the longest bathtub! We loved that we could open the windows as it was quite warm in the room. The major downfall was the very noisy bed!
Beautiful setting with very helpful staff. Pool was nicer to use too. Room and dining room showing signs of age and needing a refresh.
Great weekend stay and ideally located
Very run down
Room was very small carpet was stained in places bathroom was ok , no view from window Room overall disappointing ,
A very nice comfortable hotel with pleasant and helpful staff. Really comfortable bed tv sound very wonky. Lovely breakfast. All in all a nice relaxing stay
Mini break
Fabulous stay, great team of staff who were exceptional. Thank you
Could have done with robes and slippers in room and information leaflet with details of where to navigate round hotel. Duvet was very heavy on bed.
Last minute overnight stay
Check in great loved the complimentary cookies. Room clean spacious. Bed comfy. Breakfast plenty to choose and staff amazing work hard. Loved our stay will be back
Hotel was OK
The hotel was okay, not much to write home about. Several members of the staff looked like they couldn’t be bothered to be there! Two of them were quite surly and rude. They could take a leaf out of the Uni staff who are working there. They were great fun, friendly, and helpful. There was no water or fridge in the room due to company policy, but you can buy water from the bar at £4.50 per large bottle. The rooms are tired and in need of an update. There are two USB ports at the side of the bed, which was very comfy. Don’t come here expecting an Uber, and if you need a taxi to take you anywhere, book it 40 minutes in advance as most come from Stirling. If you come on the train and decide to walk to the hotel, which is circa 20 minutes, it is mostly uphill on a steady gradient. Then the killer part is the uphill walk from the road to the hotel reception.
Beautiful & recommended
The drive up to the hotel is beautiful with a grand entrance. Check in was perfect. The main dining and lounge areas are very relaxing and welcoming with helpful staff. The rooms are a little tired and extremely warm which made it a little uncomfortable but didnt ruin the trip. Breakfast was really good with a great selection. We also dined in the lounge and, whilst not a great selection, what we had was delicious. Overall, it was a great two night stay and great value too.
Good family stay, but for my son's sofa bed it was like a camel hump, not the best bed for 10 year old surely has to be addressed.
Very busy at 16:00 checkin, big queue at lift directly opposite checkin. Suggest avoiding that time.
Great stay
Nice hassle free break
Weekend break
Had a lovely 2 night stay. Restaurant was amazing, food delicious. Only downfall, the double bed was two single pushed together, with a very noticeable join :/
We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were very welcoming and even had a little treat bag ready for us and our dog! The hotel was easy to get around and the on site gym & pool were great. (They also provide towels for you at the gym). We ate at the restaurant both nights and the food was delicious!
This is my go to stay for business, super friendly staff and as always nothing is too much trouble. In the 30plus hotels I stay in each year, this is by far my favorite.
Lovely stay
A lovely overnight stay with our dog. He even got a goodie bag on check in which was a lovely touch. Thank you.
Wonderful overnight stay in Dunblane
Wonderful stay at Dunblane Hydro with friends. Our room was well equipped with everything we needed. We were lucky enough to get a room with a stunning view over the town and the hills. The bed was extremely comfortable and bathroom spacious and immaculately clean. Our meal in the Kailyard by Nick Nairn was amazing and the staff were so friendly and attentive . Welcoming reception staff ensured our table was booked for dinner and hot cookies on arrival was a nice touch. The breakfast buffet was one of the best we’ve had in hotels with a wide selection and piping hot cooked food. Didn’t use the leisure facilities but did enjoy a relaxing drink in one of the lounges. Check out time meant we did not need to rush away in the morning.
The hotel itself is amazing, our room could have been better, found a t-shirt down the back of a chair in our room & also a two pound coin on the chair, which to me means it was not moved to be hoovered!! Other than that it was good, breakfast is amazing! As was dinner very good food!!
I would recommend reserving the restaurant as we were left standing for a while. Staff were slow. After being seated though service was good and food was lovely. Hotel is lovely and bar/ breakfast and reception staff were excellent. I would stay again.
Weve had to put a complaint in as we were not happy with the lack.of knowledge from staff, given wrong information leading to us having to choose from a different food menu that cost alot less than the money we paid for the additional dinner and breakfast. Blood on the wall in the bathroom. Not the experience we expect from a high end and expensive chain of hotels such ad the hilton
Nice property.
Perfect get away.
A beautiful hotel set in magnificent surroundings. The staff are pleasant, friendly and very helpful.
The welcome was good, the room was fine and reasonably priced, food was good quality but expensive. Drinks were also expensive. No wine under £30, three lagers, Guiness, Leffe blonde and another Innes and Gunn;no real ale and no draught cider. The only cider available was Swedish which is ridiculous when there are so many good English ciders. The lounges were pleasant but who wants to linger when there is such a poor choice and everything is so expensive. Stayed in a Wetherspoon's hotel recently, food not so good but much nicer room and better and much more reasonably priced choice of drinks.
I stay a lot at this hotel and it’s so nice to be recognised and called by your name on arrival and during the stay. Staff cannot do enough for you.
Great stay, staff were very attentive especially during power cut.
A fantastic room and beautiful dinner.
Dunblane Hydro
Beautiful building but sadly needs a lot of upgrading, rather outdated and shabby furniture and fittings. Lots of noise with children running around the corridors. The restaurant though made the stay the food and service were first class. The leisure facilities also need a face lift.
Staff were excellent and friendly food was brilliant
Lovely hotel for our one night stopover from the highlands. Cannot fault
2 rooms, one great, one with several H&S issues
We have booked two rooms for 3 nights. Even though the first room was to the usual standard the 2nd one was not so good with several health and safety issues. The room was on a corridor that apparently had recent water damage and it was smelling mouldy. The room itself, had electricity sockets that were loose (the sockets on the desk) with visible live wires that kids could easily touch. Also, the connection between the two single beds was through a latch which was loose and with the screws exposed at the end of the bed; that could easily hurt and adult or a kid passing by too close. The internal lock/ latch of the door was broken with sharp end the could easily hurt a person on the head if of similar height. So, 3-4 major Health and Safety issues that should be addressed immediately not to result in a incident.
The room was wonderful. The hallways were very dingy, a surprise. Seemed like a lack of attention to detail all around
Lost its shine
Great location but hotel building desperately in need of renovation. We spent the same few days here 3 years ago and it was so much nicer then. Can’t fault the staff. They were excellent. Breakfasts great. Apparently hotel was bought over in the autumn and they are waiting to hear what’s planned for the building.
Fabulous hotel with excellent friendly staff.
Had a fabulous overnight stay with our granddaughter in a family room. We had a lovely room overlooking the front and over to Dunblane. Everything was comfortable. Loved the swimming pool. Staff were excellent and friendly everywhere we were, a real credit to the hotel. Breakfast was a huge selection of food served in lovely surroundings. Stayed with friends before and will definitely be back.
Great staff and food. Rooms and shared areas possibly looking a bit tired but good value for money.
Birthday Treat
Night away to catch up with my friend to celebrate her 60th Birthday. Very enjoyable.
What's not to love?
My partner and I needed a place to stay on our way up north, and since he grew up near the Hydro, we decided to give it a go. What a good shout! From DoubleTree's classic, warm cookies to the spaciousness of the room, we felt at home and comfortable. The Hydro also oozes Victorian charm and boasts stunning views of the surrounding area. What's not to love? It's actually a shame we didn't stay longer. We're keen to return, especially to try The Kailyard by Nick Nairn. My only issue is that the room door allowed a lot of noise through which was a slight disturbance.
Terry
There was no heating the room was freezing all night had to wait to the next day to change rooms was not a good experience at all
Quick and friendly check in and check out. Room clean. We enjoyed the pool, sauna and steam room and the staff here were also lovely. Great base if you want to explore thd local are.
As expected it was a good stay overall. Spacious common areas, nice restaurant and quiet place. We were disappointed with the size of the room considering we booked a Double Room Plus and got a very small room at the end of the corridor. There was hardly room to walk around the bed, certainly nowhere near over 20sqm as stated. We stayed in a normal double room a very long time ago but don't remember it being that small.
Enjoyable stay
Fabulous location and the check-in was very smooth. The room was comfortable with tea and coffee provided. Unfortunately the TV was not working for the duration of our stay (problems with signal reception). The food in the Nick Nairn restaurant was first class, tasty and good portion size although let down by the slow service. The buffet breakfast was a feast!! Despite the 4 stars we would certainly stay here again and try the health centre.
Wonderful stay as usual
It’s a lovely old building but it’s getting a little tired, worn carpets at the lifts and stairs. Nice small room lovely shower,
Very good stay breakfast was good hotel was busy but still got a parking spot drinks a bit more expensive but overall very enjoyable
Lovely overnight dbb stay with our 2 kids
The breakfast was lovely. A few things need upgrading in the room. The bathroom sink was blocking, and didn't run cold water. The maintenance staff did sort the unblocking in good time for the next night's stay and we got bottles of drinking water to make up for the lack of cold drinking water on tap.
Room was dirty mold on walls in corner and cobwebs on windows and no heating in room
Disappointing
The rooms are tired for what is charged for the stay. The bathroom ceiling was covered in black mould and there is no working extract system for the bathroom. On the second night of our stay a strong smell of cannabis was present in our room . The smoke was making its way into our room from the bathroom vent and from the hallway. We had a two year old in the room with us so this was of concern. I made reception aware of the issue however nothing was done as it continued throughout the night. We slept with the window wide open and tried to reduce the fumes in the room by blocking the bottom of the entrance door and bathroom door with spare pillows and towels. I made reception aware of my discontent on departure but was only told that they would not be able to knock on doors at that time of night. If someone had bothered to check on my concern, it would have been very obvious which room was the culprit. I know that the hotel cannot be held responsible for the behaviour of another guest, however they can be held accountable for how they react, and on this occasion they did not react in any way and left us to have an extremely uncomfortable night. Overall the hotel stay was disappointing, apart from the restaurant. Food and service was great for breakfast and dinner.
Average
Average stay, staff not very friendly for £235 a night. I was expecting better
Our room had two beds as requested but was very small.(R305)The widow lacking mechanisms need work. The whole property needs to be refreshed.
Reception staff was not at all helpful and seemed put out when asked questions. Room was tidy but the carpet was stained and the furnishings were worn. No electrical outlets near the bed, closest were on the far wall. Both the sink faucet and the shower faucet leaked constantly. The cleaning staff seemed very kind.
Public rooms ok Bedroom needed attention Reported to Lucy on Reception
Due to the noise from the room next door we had no sleep the fist night so we cut our stay short . The burg plug did not work so you could not take a bath which as a good thing as the bath was dirty. The bed was not to the standard you would expect from a Hilton Hotel. When we told the receptionist that we were checking out early and way she did not attempt to resolve the issue. As a result we will never be back to this hotel again
The hotel is very tired in areas and could do with a repaint in the corridors and room with perhaps a carpet clean or replacement. The room was not exactly clean and needs some attention to detail within the showerroom, windows and surrounding frames. We stayed here a few years ago and is was certainly not the same experience as then. We paid almost £172 per night for two nights bed and breakfast through hotels.com when in fact when checking the price for the dates during our stay on hotel.com it was available for £64 per night plus breakfast on the same nights. This would have been £80 per night. We did question this with the hotel reception and all they could give us was a free bottle of wine with our dinner on the evening of our Wedding Anniversary which was the reason for our stay. The room was very small and disappointing and we had to change room as the shower was in the bath and my wife has mobility problems albeit the room with a walk in shower was also very small with not much room in the shower either. We did used the swimming pool facility and found this satisfactory. The food in the restaurant was also excellent and the staff attentive at dinner and breakfast.
Hotel is in beautiful grounds. Rooms are very tired and in need of refurb as are the very dark corridors. Dinner was nice and the staff were lovely.
Was there 10 years ago and hadn’t changed much, maybe just a lick of paint. Food still as good and lovely building and surroundings
The property was lovely if not slight worn. Our Junior Suite had torn curtains which wasn’t ideal. We asked to take some snacks (bread and olives) out onto the terrace and were told no because of health and safety but then a waitress brought food to a couple sitting next to us. The food was lovely and thoroughly enjoyed.
Hotel smelled like cleaning products. No staff to help with bags and you have to carry up the front steps because there are no ramps. Carpet in bedroom was stained. No mini fridge. Room was just outside elevator so it was noisy. Cable was broken and it took staff an hour to show up to fix. I wouldn't go back there are way better places for the price. Dinner was good though.
If you want to feel like you’re staying in a Palace or Castle this is the place.
Stay in the main building.
Our stay was less than grand. The first night we were put in the grotesque Sterling Wing, with its dilapidated walls, musty smell, non-functioning lift and faulty toilet. We asked to be moved. The second night in the main building was much nicer. The staff had a bit of an attitude. They seemed to want to be helpful but were defensive. They need better training. Surely Hilton can afford to put some money into this property - it has a lot of potential.
The disability accommodations were incredibly helpful. Staff was nice and its a very pretty hotel. The only issue that we had was the massive flooding in the shower from the drain being clogged with hair before we got there. They fixed up the issue and mentioned making sure that cleaning staff is more frequently checking the drains.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Booked double plus. Size is average don’t know what plus is. Looks tired. Bathroom needs upgrading. Unfortunately the restaurant boasts celebrity chef menu, not celebrity cooking. Standard type hotel for weddings, funerals etc. good stop for overnight was attending and event near the castle.
Great break
Fortunately, a happy ending
My wife and I were booked in for dinner bed and breakfast but unfortunately on the way to the hotel my wife fell and ended up in accident and emergency in Stirling. I contacted the hotel explaining the situation and they were extremely helpful telling me not to worry and that they would take care of everything and cancel my booking. I received a full refund two days later.
A beautiful hotel in wonderful grounds. Excellent, friendly staff and a tasty breakfast. We were just disappointed that the pool was closed on Sunday afternoon and Monday as we were looking forward to a swim. May we have a partial refund, please?
Property was quite special. Has an air of grandeur that many more modern hotels lack. Staff were very friendly and service was second to none. Will defo stay again. Loved our short visit.
Dated Accommodation but clean
Room was somewhat dated but was clean. The bed was not the most comfortable as it seemed to have a gap in the middle which I kept disappearing down. Breakfast was lovely and all things considered I would stay here again.
Very nice hotel
Very nice hotel. Set in beautiful grounds, very well kept. Staff were excellent and food at the Kailyard was amazing.
Staff welcoming and helpful.
The food was amazing the room was nice but I did have to wait 25/30 minutes at the bar and no one was there (the bar was open)
loved this property!
The property is quite old. For the prices, we shouldn’t have seen the remnants of a leak. There was a delivery and was super nosey around 7am. Really not good quality overall
Good clean hotel in a lovely setting
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Fabulous bed, great sleep. Nice size pool, clean and well staffed. Would definitely recommend and would return.
Good for family breaks
A nice stay but rooms look very tired, desk was looking so marked. Beds comfortable and the bathroom nice and big. It needs the lounge bar area updating, just felt like it needed freshening up. Breakfast was very good as was the Dinner at night. We enjoyed our 2 night's stay.
Stunning hotel with modern rooms
The hotel is stunning, the building itself and the land surrounding it. Very clean hotel, the rooms are very large, clean and modern, we had a nice stay here. The lady who worked on reception was great, made sure we had all the information required and done it with a smile on her face. Awesome place.
Restaurant food was excellent and the young waiter was very good and natural. Breakfast also good and hotel grounds lovely. Room was ok but showing early signs of getting tired but overall fine and excellent value. An enjoyable stay
Fantastic stay at this lovely hotel. All staff we encountered were super friendly and helpful. Room lovely and clean and bed was comfy. Pool and leisure facilities very good and staff here were also lovely and very helpful. We ate at the hotel restaurant at night and the meal was amazing. Would recommend eating here. Breakfast in the morning was excellent. Lots of choice and all very fresh. Cannot wait to come back and stay.
Updated Hydro
Comfortable room small ensuite excellent buffet breakfast Impressive building and grounds
A good clean hotel about 15 minutes walk from town
Spotless, wonderful staff and restaurant food was spectacular
Counting the hours!
The hotel itself is very outdated and had no AC which caused for a very hot night! The furnishings are very dated and it lacked charm in all areas. The in room services was missing coffee pods and bathroom necessities like face soap, shower cap, and washcloths. I couldn't wait to leave!
For a Hilton branded hotel, albeit DoubleTree, the management service levels were extremely poor and the communication was below standard. I booked 4 rooms for a stay, and after a late-checkin of 8.30 PM the previous evening, we requested a late check out of 1 hour per room, and a late check-out til 2 PM for the fourth room, after the front desk staff initially agreeing, the duty manager later denied the front staff had agreed this, and demanded the rooms be vacated whilst standing outside the rooms in the corridor. The manner of the communication, whilst standing outside the rooms at 12:00 midday, was not befitting a bed & breakfast let alone a Hilton hotel. A housekeeping staff member who accompanied the manager was particularly rude. An individual phone call to the respective rooms to inform the guests that the check-in time would not be extended would have sufficed. The Dunblane Hilton DoubleTree is the worst Hilton hotel I have ever come across in terms of hospitality and care towards the guests.
Disappointed and appalled.
We arrived at the Hotel and on approach it looked amazing but after booking in and going down some very narrow corridors with very poor decor to our room which was in a annex to the main building we found our room. On entry we was greeted with a small very poorly cleaned (Disgusting as my wife put it) room, For the price we paid this was unacceptable. We returned to reception to complain and ask for an upgrade even offering to pay the extra, we was then given another room in the main building this however although being slightly better on the cleanliness was even smaller than the 1st and nothing like the rooms pictured on there site. We just could not stay there so we booked a room in a nearby hotel and left. The standards of this hotel fall way below anything I would expect for a Hilton and more like a backpackers hostel. Needless to say it was a very disappointing start to what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend for Me and my Wife.
Quick check in. Clean comfortble room. We ordered dinner to our room which was quick and food was nice. Breakfast was perfect. Good views from the front of the hotel. The only issue was that the room was hot at night even with the windows open.
Property caught on fire they where im middle of fixing it
