The resort was great. Check in was easy and really the only thing that we came across was that the restaurant was outside and when our food came out the flies just kept attacking us. Maybe the resort can consider putting some nets around the eating areas to cut the fies out. But overall our stay was pleasant
Scuba divining oriented property. Very easy to get to dive boat.
Third time we’ve stayed at compass point. Excellent staff and service as always. Can’t go wrong with fantastic diving with boats leaving directly from the resort
Excellent resort for a diving vacation. Quiet, calm and safe location for families.
Beautiful seafront resort. Staff was friendly, responsive, and helpful. Onsite dinning at Eagle Rays was awesome, and La Casita across the street was amazing. Would absolutely recommend.
The dive shop was onsite. The people were friendly and helpful.
Staff was very friendly and helpful! I can’t wait to come back.
Great resort - Villa clean, big and comfortable.
The room shown in the pictures and the surrounding property was exactly what we experienced. The private beach right off our patio and the views were awesome and relaxing! This is a very quiet, less touristy area on the East End, which is exactly what we were looking for. However, you are only about 45 minutes from the popular tourist locations, like 7 Mile Beach, if you choose to spend some time there. The local food in the area, including Eagle Rays onsite, was very good. We would definitely stay here again!!!
Staff was friendly and very helpful. We would recommend the three stop snorkel trip
What a gorgeous spot for chilling and enjoying the relaxed side of the island. Beautiful beaches, delicious bbq and lovely people. Thank you again!!
The apartment was spacious and very nice for a family of three persons. A perfect stay on the island, I don't know what could be improved. Thanks to all the staff for helping in any situation.
Compass point was a great place to spend a vacation if you like snorkeling and diving. The staff was great and will help you have the vacation you want.
Great place to stay on the island!! Dive shop was excellent! It’s away from crowds! Great restaurants clise by!
Good diving in a secluded area
Compass point always delivers! Good comfortable stay and service with on-site dive operator ocean frontiers. Diving has world class service. The condo hotel itself is basic but clean and in a beautiful setting.
dive staff was great and the diving was great as well
The property is located in a very safe and beautiful area of the Cayman Islands. The restaurant onsite was great, staff all around the resort was super helpful and very friendly. Ajay (sorry if I mispelled) was so nice and friendly, Clara was amazing, Evan provided great customer service - Sergi and Ben who took us to the Singray sandbar adventure, were great! Highly recommend staying at compass point. You'll need to rent a car if you want to tour around the island. This place, ammenities, cleanliness, and staff were fantastic!
The property was quiet and charming. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Great staff. Very nice facilities. Made diving a pleasure
Property was away from the “touristy” area of the island. Property is terribly outdated. The pictures on the website CERTAINLY do NOT match what you see there. Virtually NO BEACH to speak of.
Lovely property and the staff were all extremely friendly and welcoming. Gorgeous rooms and location. We couldn't have asked for a better stay as we returned with our two kids to show them around Grand Cayman 17 years after our honeymoon.
Compass Point is a beautiful oasis! Very relaxing and peaceful. The place is clean and kept up well. All of the staff, from sive instructors, office, restaurant, and cleaning staff were amazing and were all about helping us enjoy our stay
Beautiful accommodations. The kitchen is well stocked with whatever you need.
We loved the location - being on the East end and out of the way of the main traffic areas
Great Staff! Little off the beaten path, but well worth the trip. Nice and quiet with easy access to diving. Boat rides are pretty short and the snorkeling trip (3 sites) was nice. Couple tips: Try Taco for dinner (Tues / Thurs are BOGO) Snorkeling down the road at the dock at Morrit's has some nice fish and really large tarpon (5ft plus)
The hotel was spacious, extremely clean, great kitchen, very quiet. Great restaurants right there as well. The Ocean Frontiers team was fabulous. My daughter and I have never been snorkeling, and we were both very nervous. Even though I think the staff are used to more experienced divers and snorkelers, they were so accommodating, professional and friendly we were comfortable enough to try it out and had a fabulous time.
Comfortable and relaxing
Although we are not scuba divers, we loved this dive resort in the less populated East End. The accommodations are comfortable, furnished with everything you need (full kitchen, washer and dryer, etc.), and the front desk staff patiently answer questions and register you for snorkeling and other trips. The large lagoon is beautiful and has several reef sites. A small open-air restaurant has very good food and service and couldn’t be more convenient. You can’t take long walks along the beach here and there is not a swimmable beach in front, but there are sandy areas at the edge of the water for relaxing in hammocks and loungers. We had an ocean front unit and a wonderful view of the ocean. All in all, comfortable and relaxing, with opportunities for various trips by boat.
Overall it was great the Ocean Frontier staff was wonderful too
Awesome Dive Resort!
Compass Point Dive Resort surpassed my expectations. It was super clean, modern with very comfortable beds. Pool and hot tub were in excellent condition. Family dive vacation. Full kitchen. We enjoyed eating breakfast in the condo, then walking to our dive boat. All our dive equipment was set up and waiting for us. Ocean Frontiers did an excellent job. We had a few 20 mph windy days. Their custom dive boats 48' long, 16' beam handled the seas very well and we enjoyed the diving every day! Service was excellent. Will definitely recommend Compass Point/Ocean Frontiers to friends and family!!
Really nice rooms. Friendly staff. Need to rent a car to get there and get around. Restaurant was good, though outdoors and mosquitos were hungry too. Overall great stay and I’ll be back.
For the serious Diver. Ocean Frontier Divers is on site and EXCELLENT. We received our certification there and spent the rest of the week diving. We had a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment which truly made us feel right at home. There were also 2 Murphy beds. It was so nice after hours of diving to come home and have plenty of room to relax. So much better than a Hotel room. | Grocery store was just down the road. It is on the East end of Grand Cayman so If you want to be able to walk out of your room and into the water for snorkeling, probably best to stay at 7 Mile Beach. This is a rugged, rocky coastline but we LOVED it . It was so peaceful and a bit secluded. but yet close to so many things. Loved the hammocks next to the water. so relaxing. RENT A CAR for easy get around. Close to The Blowholes, Bodden Town, and several miles but easy travel to Rum Point where you will enjoy great snorkeling, eating, and where different tours leave from, including Stingray City. There is a restaurant on site that has some really great food! All the staff is excellent and so very helpful. What a wonderful relaxing time we had. Will definitely be back.
This is the second time staying at this resort. LOVE IT. Spacious, clean and with ocean views. AND, in my opinion, next to one of the best restaurants on the entire island.
Diver’s paradise! Not only do they pamper to divers but know how to treat customers with their hospitality. Overall, this place was amazing for diving!
The property was the cleanest place I have ever stayed, the facilities were well-equipped. some of the housekeeping left much to be desired. The maintenance staff was phenomenal. The location was optimal. Everything was super easy and seamless. Best vacation ever !
Adventures are close bye and they offer a lot of different tours
Had a wonderful stay! Dive staff was great, and the room was very well appointed. The only drawback was that the dishwasher in our unit did not work very well, but that was only a minor inconvenience, Higjly recommend this resort!!!
Right on the ocean, so well organized with the dive shop. The rooms were spacious and clean I will definitely be going back here again :)
As long as you don’t expect a swimming beach, Compass Point is truly a friendly, relaxing place with super courteous staff and wonderfully well maintained condo-style rooms. If you’re a diver, this place and Ocean Frontiers (their on-site dive operator) is wonderful concierge style diving. They will spoil you!
Property was very quiet. East end does not have many activities so you need a car to get around.
The property is located in a quiet part of the island. Beautiful snorkel and diving locations. Great food on site and also had several great restaurants close. Only thing that took getting used to was the weeds blowing in, west side of the island would was clear of weeds but we preferred the east side ocean topography. The occasional smell was worth the view.
The staff was very helpful and took the time to give excellent service! The rooms were very clean and well equipped. The beach sand area was well groomed. There was some seaweed near the shore while we were there, but it had come in due to a storm. Overall a wonderfully beautiful place!! Highly recommend!!
Excellent staff and right on the beach. Very attentive to what you need.
Loved our room and view, quite no kids screaming! Wish there was more walkable beach.
Wonderful place! Would definitely stay there again!
From when we checked in to when we checked out, we completely enjoyed our stay! Very clean and comfortable. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the quiet and not as busy like the West side of the island. Would highly recommend this place!
The resort was awesome! Super friendly staff. Great dive shop and guides!
The divemasters Were excellent and very knowledgeable. The resort is a dive resort and it is an amazing dive resort. Brittany and Kim were fantastic dive masters
I liked the housekeeping plan. Basic housekeeping included in the price (trash, make beds …). If you want more, it cost more.
Love Compass Point. Beautiful, spacious apartments and fantastic diving.
I cannot even make up a negative remark about Compass Point. I had a "Perfect" stay. This is a place that once you stay here you'll be disappointed by the rest. Exceptional. You will see us again!! and again!!
There was absolutely nothing to not like!! What a great place to stay. We will certainly be back !!!
We were there for scuba licensing and recreational diving, it was wonderful to have a restaurant of high-quality food right on site, the instructors were superb, everything was made more straightforward and easy as a result of the staff. Can’t recommend highly enough. I have nothing negative to say whatsoever.
Amazing stay! Regardless of diving
Great place to stay! Diving or not. The East side of the island is so much more authentic and laid back. This is not 7 mile beach and the crowds that come with it...which is a GREAT thing. The room was great! Clean and fully stocked. Onsite restaurant had an amazing grilled lion fish (the only place we could find where it was grilled and not breaded/fried). Diving operation was amazing and spoiled me for all future dives.
Great location to dive. Friendly staff, rooms were very clean
Had oceanfront condo and the views were wonderful...having the dive boat on site was an extra plus...the restaurant was great and the staff extremely nice
Eagle Ray's has THE BEST fish taco on the entire island. We did not dive, but our family of 4 enjoyed our stay. Plenty of room for us to spread out in our room. The pool was a great evening activity for the kids. Our daughter misses Cayman, the local cat. The East End is laid back, has great restaurants, and close to everything. Thank you, for a great vacation!
Compass Point is a tranquil property on the East End that has two walkable restaurants and another about 1 mile away. All had good food (I'm a foodie) which is critical to any vacation that I take. The property itself is a dive focused resort, but with concierge level service. A small man made beach area is typically vacant and satisfied my need for sand between my toes. They have two pools and a hot tub which were clean and great to relax in. The staff is fantastic and is one of the main reasons I would come back to this resort. The rooms are nicely sized and our room had a king bedroom, a living room with 2 twin Murphy beds, a full size fridge, stovetop, clothes washer/dryer. At an estimated 1000sf, it's plenty of room to drop the dive gear without feeling cramped. Regarding the diving, the staff will wash, carry, prepare the dive gear each and every day - A+ service.
Pros: right on the water in the quiet East End, nice rooms, friendly staff, restaurant and pool onsite, sandy beach suitable for kids is next door, a couple of other excellent restaurants nearby, excellent dive shop on premises making everything easy. If you want shopping and/or nightlife this isn't for you, otherwise it's a great place.
Valet Diving
This was a dive trip The service was truly valet diving. The room/condo was beautiful. The only problem is that this place is way out of the way on the East End. You must have a car. We rented one for a couple of days to get groceries. There are only two restaurants within walking distance, one of which is Mexican. The dining is limited.
This is a quiet place. Each room opens onto the ocean. I sleep at night listening to the sound of the ocean. The dive shop is excellent; equipment and staff both. Service comes first.
The unit we stayed in at compass point was beautiful, spacious, recently updated and well maintained. The staff was incredibly friendly. Have no bad things to say about it. East end is far away from all the hustle and bustle of Georgetown and is very low key but enjoyably so. The diving offered by ocean frontiers is excellent as well. I’d highly recommend compass point and ocean frontiers.
My wife and I just returned from a wonderful trip. The dive operation is first class. I would highly recommend.
Great facility for scuba divers. Excellent, knowledgeable staff. On-site restaurant (Eagle Ray's) is good and the condos are well appointed.
Loved compass point
We had a great time at compass dive. It is convenient to several restaurants, an easy drive to groceries, and good for exploring the quieter side of the island, including the botanic gardens, the blow holes, and even up to Rum Point. The staff Could not be better we loved Brit and James, who always gave us great recommendations. The condo/ apt was clean and very well stocked with everything we needed. Sunrises are amazing. Last but not least, the snorkeling and kayaking was fabulously fun.
The staff was really pleasant and accommodating. Loved our view of the water. My husband said the diving was super professional and well-run.
We like the quietness of the east end of Grand Cayman. Compass Point is a great location and offers easy access to diving and snorkeling. Our condo was beautiful and very clean. We enjoyed these restaurants very much- Tukka, Taco Cantina, Over the Edge, Rum Point, Kaibo and The Lighthouse.
Great Place for Mid-Winter Break with SCUBA Diving
Excellent, friendly staff provided great customer service. Comfortable rooms with all the right amenities. Great dive operation with excellent guides and equipment make it very fun!
Great, friendly staff, clean accomadations. The adjoining restaurant, Eagle Rays is one of our favorites on the island. The ocean front condos are spacious with amazing views.
Really nice place. Quiet and relaxing. Great staff and service. Lots of activitiy options. Nice have a car. Lots to check out near by
I didn't like the restaurant or the dive shop that was onsite.
Facilities were excellent and people were friendly and accommodating
.... Calm and relaxing All of the Staff were truly amazing, courteous and respectful.
Great location and view Spacious rooms friendly staff
Very quiet relaxing stay. The Condominium was clean, spacious and had all the amenities. We had dinner at all the local restaurants and were very pleased with the meals. TUKKA was our favorite.
Excellent staff! Spacious, well designed suites. Great location. Amazing snorkeling tour of the reef.
Quiet area. Good restaurants nearby. Friendly staff
No beach thought there was one advertised but could not get to it. Beautiful place except had to drive to beach
We visited Compass Point Resort recently to celebrate Kim's birthday and reacquaint ourselves with the amazing diving on Grand Cayman. Neither Kim or myself had any diving experience on the East End. The ease of staying so close to the diving was the main attraction; as was the respite from the bustle of the 7 Mile Beach area. We were both pleasantly surprised with how nice the apartment/suite was. The rooms were spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Despite what we read in a review or two; the air conditioning kept us as cool and comfortable as anywhere we have ever stayed. The diving as presented by Ocean Frontiers was really great. Kim is an experienced diver with many dives throughout the Caribbean. I am a very new diver with the usual angst, and breath control of an Irish Setter. The staff found a way to meet both our needs. We were especially impressed by or experiences with Hannah, Britney, Matt, Jack, Yves, James, Steve and Hunter. (Captain John too!) We made some new friends, dove some extraordinary sites, and improved our skills. (With all due respect to Irish Setters everywhere) We look forward to continuing our quest for the Green Shorts. Thanks again. Perry and Kim
We lived the resort, With the easy access to a professional dive shop, spacious rooms, and friendly staff. We would love to come back!
I just came back from 4 days at Compass Point. Divemasters were great. They do a great job of explaining the dive sites and helping get your gear ready. Definitely going back and bringing my wife next time. The boats are extremely diver friendly....easy to get around on and manage your stuff between dives. They are going to be offering a free diving class which I will take on my next trip. Shout out to Jack, Andara, and the rest of the team.... you folks were great!
Although we went at a very hot time during the summer months there, hotel was well air-conditioned and very clean .... staff was very pleasant and their restaurant food was very good. Slow months so no other guests on our beach so we had plenty of room and a beautiful ocean view with palm trees and hammocks .... the only thing we didn't know was that there would be no place to go into the water as beyond the sand there was a wall and rocks and no entry to the water except for about an 8 foot section where there was two feet of sand to get your feet wet. We had a rental car, we explored the island and found some public beaches. Overall, wonderful trip and some close local restaurants with very friendly and helpful staff.
This is our third with this group of great people. If your looking for a nice, quiet, peaceful place to stay and dive, look no further. The rooms are great and the staff is wonderful.
Peaceful place, beautiful and clean Perfect for a group and family vacation
My spouse and I are not divers but we still had a great time. Our condo was top notch with a beautiful oceanfront view. The Eagles Point restaurant on site had the friendliest staff especially one waitress name Lyca!! We cannot not wait to return
Ocean front view nice and relax but does not have onsite beach. However, there are a few beaches within a few minutes drive.
Dive paradise. Close to beaches. Great dive locations. Great staff and rooms.quiet Except for the wild roosters
They cater to divers and they do that extremely well. If you're not a diver (or snorkeler) then not a good choice. They take care of all your diving needs..even log your dives for you. Family of 4 (2 teenage divers) stayed in 1 bedroom ocean front and it was fabulous. Few things in room needed tending to but nothing major. Wifi was excellent and used wifi calling to contact US, no problems. Not good for swimming! 7 night trip and not once was it clear/seaweed free to swim. Public beaches nearby but we only tried Spotts (30+ min drive) because of turtle sightings. There's only a few choices of very pricey restaurants. Meals ranged from $70-$180 (Tukka buffet highest, not recommended). Taco Cantina 2for1 Thursday recommended! A small grocery (convenience store prices) located about 10 min drive away. A Subway (2for1 on Mondays) across street from grocery store (in the Wyndham). If funds are tight plan to make meals in room. Rental car is a must. Hotel at least 45+ mins away from airport. Takes forever on the 2 lane roads. Once acclimated it took us about 45 mins from hotel to Georgetown/7 Mile Beach with little traffic but plan on an hour. Don't consider public transportation. Washer/dryer in room was fantastic. Plan to take/buy small package of detergent. You will need to wash the towels-they're not beach towels. Housekeeping was included with our package but could come at extra cost so ask beforehand. Diving was great and priced fairly. Everything else will eat your wallet!
Nice condo close to the beach. Great diving instructors and staff, enjoyed where the condo was located on the East End.
First time diver and it was amazing
We took time to research where to go and get open water certification COMPASS POINT ROCKS! The real secret to Grand Cayman is staying on the East End and staying at Compass Point. We got the intel on the best places to eat and dived with a great instructor Adara Tucker. She is dedicated and so personable, the entire staff is great and it totally exceeded my highest expectations For a first time visitor to Grand Cayman and for a new diver, I couldn’t have had a better trip. My wife and I wished we had found this place years ago. Thank you again to the staff at Compass Point and Ocean Frontiers.
The perfect Cayman resort!
5 Stars! Amazing staff great diving clean comfy rooms ocean front view and nice quiet side of the island!
Great dive resort
We were there May 2018. The diving was excellent and the dive crew were the best we ever had. Rooms were spacious and comfortable.
great set-up and quiet
Unit was clean and staff were helpful and friendly. Good value overall.
The staff was amazingly helpful and extremely nice. They were very welcoming and would recommend what to do on the island. Free coffee every morning was great. The room was clean and views were spectacular. Great place to go dive as it is convenient and all around helpful, welcoming, pleasant staff.
This is the place for divers and my wife who doesn't dive also had a wonderful time on the beach. Best run dive experience I've had not used to valet like service by a great diverse group of dive masters. Ocean Frontiers runs a class operation with new boats and a dive shop with some misc. gear people might need. Their rental equipment looked good, but I had my own. Eagle Rays restaurant was run by really nice people and while not a huge menu we ate most of our meals there and thought the food was either good or great. The room we had #309 was perfect. It had a great view and everything you would need to dine on your own or wash clothes if necessary. I would suggest trying to by groceries closer to the airport as the store near here is limited and no grocery stores are open on Sunday's. Great resort far from the bustle of Georgetown.
East End is the best end
Off the beaten path is the only way to go in my book. Far from the crowds around Seven Mile Beach, this dive resort is great for non-divers too like us. Walk out patio directly onto a beach with direct full view of the ocean. Strong fast wifi and a fully equipped kitchen saved a lot on food. We only ate out twice during our 4 day stay and stocked up supplies from Hurley's. Staff was friendly and we were treated to a free dinner and beer anniversary party celebrating 22 years for CPDR. My wife says she will never stay at a noisy cramped hotel again. Highest recommendation.
VACATION DELIGHT
Excellent Location on East End of Grand Cayman. Stayed at this Resort last year so my husband could learn how to dive. People outside this resort book through Ocean Frontiers for Diving, Snorkeling, and Island Excursions. The staff is very knowledgeable, and Super Friendly. Everyone we encounter goes above and beyond to make Sure your questions/needs/concerns are met. Needless to say we returned to indulge ourselves and ensure our vacation to be the BEST.
Every picture looks like a postcard. Nice, quiet and private. Great excursions!
Great for divers
Excellent for divers. Large clean apartment size suite. Excellent staff. Roll out of bed and dive.
Great vacation
If you're looking for a place that is quiet and doesn't have the madness of 7 mile beach, this is it. Very nice accommodations. We stayed in CP across the street, which has newer units and a nice pool and hot tub. Kitchen was like new. We made breakfast and lunch in the room and ate out at night. Scuba diving with Ocean Frontiers was great. The staff was very nice and capable, all are dive instructors, felt very safe all the time. Only minor complaint we had were the free range chickens, which run around like squirrels and woke us up around 5am.
Relaxing, quiet atmosphere on the ocean
This is out second stay and both times we brought our older teenage kids. The condo had plenty of space for us to stretch out in and to make food when we came back from our daily adventure. We rented snorkel equipment from the dive shop and traveled to many different areas. We took the kayaks out one day. Each morning we took walk or run and always felt safe. Lots of places in area to eat including Eagle Rays right there at the resort.
Compass Point Dive Resort | Home in East End | Travala.com
Combined stay-in and dive experience was extremely convenient. Apartment was clean and well maintained along with pool patio. It is a rather quiet conveniently accessible from the airport east end of the island, which definitely offers a restful atmosphere in contrast to the George Town area. Staff was very professional and pleasant to interact with. Dive sites offered new elements of surprise with each one visited. It would be nice for the sandy beach in front of resort to be a bit more clear of the weeds. It is a definite come back place in future.
