Enjoyed our stay at the property. Only complaint we had was alot of cobwebs in the high ceiling areas that made us feel there were spiders in our room at all times. Also, it was not communicated to us that checkout was at 10:00 and with 2 of us being travelers for work we were accustomed to an 11 am checkout. Other than that suited our needs well and would recommend as a place to stay.
Fantastic
I can't recommend this resort enough. Staff members are super friendly and accommodating. Property is BEAUTIFUL, scenes are breathtaking, plenty of outdoor activities and the location and setting forces you to slow down and just enjoy to day. I can't wait to go back and take the rest of my family and friends!
Cliffview Resort
Cliffview Lodge was a nice facility. It was clean, had good amenities, and the staff was very friendly.
The staff was really nice I felt the rooms were dated the property can use a Jacuzzi or some thing had trouble with the air conditioning loud noises from shut up valve needing replaced on the waterline but the view is beautiful and the people were friendly
Everything was superb. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Excellent alternative to a hotel. Will definitely stay here again when we come back to the area.
Cliffview is the best!
All staff were very friendly, accomodating and attentive. Lodge was very clean and well maintained. Beautiful view.
Memorial Day 2019 Fun at the Lodge!
We stayed at the lodge over Memorial Day weekend 2019 and while it was full we all had plenty of space. The staff even built us a fire to roast marshmallows over! The rooms are well appointed but the nature of the building you can hear your neighbors. They have sound machines to help with that! They have a full stocked kitchen (plates, glasses etc) which came in helpful since outside dining options were limited.
Great place overall, but really basic breakfast. No hot entries, no juice, no eggs. There were bagels and cereal, but no milk.
How clean everything was, specially the bathrooms . Very polite and attentive personnel
Amazing
Nice, cozy environment. Staff made you feel as if it was your home.
I absolutely love the people here. Beds were comfortable. Rooms spacious and the view spectacular
Great view
Amazing area to hike. The Lodge is very clean and rustic. Great view from common balcony off each room. Staff is very friendly and strive to make everything perfect. Innkeeper is very personable and knowledgeable of the area. He made our stay even more enjoyable
This property was located in a beautiful area. The staff were friendly and welcoming, but the room was not made up each day. The beds were not made and towels not changed. I don't know if this is policy in a lodge, but it was disconcerting. The breakfast didn't have very much variety, nothing was made there, everything was convenience foods bought at the store. Everything else was fine. The staff was helpful in giving directions. There were no hiking maps available, just brochures about their own products.
Beautiful resort off the beaten path. Friendly hosts. Quiet. Zip lining available. Breakfast each morning. Books, games and movies to choose from. Close to the gorge park and hiking trails. Will most likely go back.
Was very relaxed and peaceful. . Would recommemd to others
Comfort and Close to Muir Valley
Great experience! Shelly and Allen did a fantastic job of making us feel welcome and at home. Just a five minute drive to Muir Valley and a few more minutes to Miguel's. Definitely look forward to coming back to the Gorge to do some family climbing and relaxing at the Cliffview Lodge.
Nice lodge nestled right in Red River Gorge
We really enjoyed our stay. The lodge was very cozy and comfortable and the staff was very accommodating. I brought our own food and fixed it there since there’s not much around. The only problem we ran in to was our room was very warm. Thankfully the nights and mornings were cool so we’d open our sliding glass door and it would cool down. It definitely wouldn’t deter us from staying again. I highly recommend the lodge if you’re looking for a laid back atmosphere.
I grew up in eastern Kentucky and make serveral trips to the Natural Bridge/ Red River Gorge area every year and never knew this resort existed. I would definitely recommend to everyone.
Good price, off the beaten path. Beautiful scenery
Very cool place. Simple, but clean and peaceful. The staff is GREAT. The rooms are cute and rustic in decoration. The wrap around balcony with porch swings is awesome. Fishing in the pond is a blast! We felt very much at home there. We will return some day.
Clean and friendly
Beautiful place. The innkeeper was very nice and friendly. She made me feel like a visitor in her home. The continental breakfast was good and there was plenty of coffee. The room was very clean and comfortable. We really loved hanging out on the wraparound porch in the evening and sitting on the rocking chair or porch swing.
Great weekend.
Extremely relaxing. Quiet rooms, great service, beautiful views. Went zip lining, kayaking, hiking and slept like a baby.
A gem, nicely located!!
The inn keepers were excellent, greeted us right off! Love the back porch and swing (what a view)! Located right off the gorge, we made the loop on the motorcycle in both directions from the lodge. Location is great! Just 16 rooms in the lodge, so no way to be over crowded! Common sitting room with super comfy couches! Great value for the $!! The fall would be BEAUTIFUL there!!
really nice
A resort hotel, normally full, but a room was open due to rainy weather. I was in the area for family business, so thought I would try it out. I slept well after i got to sleep. I woke up early and was able to fix my own breakfast and coffee in the common kitchen with stove. No one was up early like me, so I enjoyed the privacy and equipped kitchen.
Fantastic place to stay
A great place to get away for a few days. Friendly and helpful staff members. Great day hikes near by. Thank you all.
Great spot for a quiet getaway. Helpful and friendly staff. Clean and well managed rooms. Fully stocked kitchen with items needed to prepare your own meals. You just need to purchase your food before you arrive. Coffee, Lemonade and cookies always available. Family friendly.
A nice place to stay, near cool places to visit
I stayed here for two nights over the Thanksgiving Break, and was looking for a good place to stay that was close to Red River Gorge / Natural Bridge State Park. Pros and cons listed in more detail below. Cons: Most of my problems could have been avoided if I ignored Expedia's message about not needing to contact the lodge prior to arrival. If I had, I would have known 1) that navigation software leads people astray, and 2) about the security gate. What WASN'T my fault was that no one answered their after-hours number when I called for directions. I was eventually able to find the lodge because another guest gave me the gate code, and I happened to follow the right roads. Pros: Once I did find the lodge, everything went smoothly. A friendly staff member checked me in, showed me around, and I was able to get to the room. The lodge was beautiful, the room/bathroom was very clean (except 1 hair on the bed), and the following morning I was able to see just how great the property was. The complementary breakfast was fine and it was nice to be able to use the fridge. Had someone answered their after-hours phone (that's just not acceptable), and had the roads been better marked (easily fixable), I would have given a 4/5; if you're looking for something secluded and "off the beaten path," this is it. However, because a review should reflect MY experience and because a hotel is only as good as its weakest attribute, I will give Cliffview Resort (Lodge) a 3.5/5.
Excellent
Cliffview Resort is one of the most quiet places we have stayed at in a long time. It was quiet, very well maintained and a staff there for any need you have. There is a kitchen with just about anything need if you want to cook something.
Awesome place . . . But be prepared
It is so nice to experience the sounds of silence. This resort is incredible. The beauty of the environment is incredible. WORD OF WARNING - they is no restaurant on the premise and the nearest is 3 miles away. I suggest bringing your food with you. If staying at the lodge, they have a common kitchen, etc.
Convenient and clean, next to RRG
Excellent central location for rock climbing at RRG. Several steps up from camping at Miguel's. Room is clean and comfortable with high ceilings. Great views of the Kentucky landscape from the room or from the deck (with swinging benches). Shared kitchen is handy should you tire of the limited nearby restaurant choices. Innkeepers are super friendly.
Great
Time away
Very nice hosts, awesome views the room was very comfortable.
Everything we needed. Very clean and friendly
Beautiful area. Nothing extra but a great value for the cost. Clean, friendly and would come back again.
Beautiful relaxing retreat
All wood no carpeting. Comfortable beds. Clean clean clean room, kitchen and lounge areas. Beautiful wrap around deck. Quiet setting. Pleasant and friendly Inn Keepers, owner and staff. We stayed four days while visiting relatives in the area. We have stayed at Hemlock lodge at Natural Bridge on previous trips and it does have a dining facility and is in a lovely setting but Cliffview Lodge has a lot of personality.
Cozy hotel but can be pretty loud.
The room is a bit too small. It is also very noisy since people did not pay attention when they close the door. The doors shut like people slamming it. We were woken up pretty early every morning during our stay.
natural bridge escape
this was a very scenic and isolated location. romantic and yet kid friendly. there was nice sized lake next to the lodge. blue gill and small large mouth bass were our catches (and release). kids really enjoyed it. hostess was great and very accommodating. limited rooms, so it never felt overcrowded. rooms and bathrooms were clean. only issue was that walls are very thin, so we could hear the conversations and what was on the television next door. didn't spend much time in our rooms though, so not a big issue. would definitely return.
Great Get-Away-From it All Place
The place is essentially a really large B&B with decent free breakfast provided, and there is also a communal kitchen for guests to use. The building managers live on site and are very friendly and accommodating. The building is a well-maintained log structure, with clean, comfortable, and fairly spacious rooms that have patio-type sliding doors in the back which open to a covered deck that runs the entire length of the building. The view is amazingly beautiful, and in good weather you watch zip line riders cross the valley. At the time we stayed there, a small cafe had opened at the entrance to the resort, about half a mile away from the hotel, which had a limited menu. It may be more established, now. The only little drawbacks were 1) it's a little far off the main road, and 2) if you're one of those tech-needy people, cell connectivity is limited. They had wi-fi, but the signal was so weak I could never seem to connect to it with my phone, and I could only find service to make voice calls from one particular corner of the deck! I mentioned that to the management at the time, so they may have corrected the problem by now. Either way, we would definitely stay here again.
What a gem!
This hotel is a true gem! Very clean with a great log cabin feel. The breakfast was really nice and the fact they had snacks out all day was an added plus! If you want a hotel that feels like home then this is the place for you.
Awesome place with GREAT SERVICE
Stayed for 1 night and loved this place. Very quite and the staff is absolutely great. Very homey and rustic feel and they will even let you use the kitchen to cook your own food if you want. Will stay again as it is a great place to stay to see the gorge!
Brief Visit
Very brief visit. Would like to have 3-5 days to get the 'full flavor'. It appears to likely be a place that we would love to regularly visit.
Loved it.
The resort was great with beautiful scenery.
Beautiful resort!
The Cliffview Resort is such a laid back place. There is a kitchen for guests to use along with two refrigerators to store food/cook your own if you want. The manager was there to meet us when we checked in and gave us useful information about the resort and area. In the morning there is a continental breakfast (cereal, oatmeal, muffins, bagels). Tea and lemonade are available throughout the day. Also, in the room off the lobby, there are "vending machines" - cabinets full of snacks to purchase at very reasonable prices. The room was clean and opened out onto a shared balcony lined with porch swings for each room. The view was beautiful. If I had to change anything, I would wish there was more sound proofing between floors. We were able to hear the people upstairs walking around, etc. We were not bothered by noisy guests although some were up early eating breakfast. I slept like a baby!! We had tried to get into one of the hotels in the state park but are sure glad they were full and found this gem! We live just a few hours away and plan to return for other weekend getaways!
Great place to stay!
Fantastic plan to be back in the fall!!
Wonderful get away
Set well back off the road, next to a pond, this lodge is rustic yet has all the amenities you need. The rooms were comfortable and led to a rear deck with great views. We used the well equipped kitchen and BBQ grills to prepare dinner twice. The breakfast of bagels, fruit and instant oatmeal packets was fine. Signage could be bigger as it was a bit hard to find at night. The managers were very helpful and the place felt more like a home than a hotel. Good wifi and cell service, too.
A place to remember
Went there for Memorial Day Weekend. Our stay was great. The inn keeper Jim was awesome and made the place feel homely (like a bed and breakfast). We met people from Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, New Zealand, Japan, and Iran. They all had wonderful stories to share. Highly recommended.
Brilliant Hotel at The Red
Hotel is fabulous and great value for money. Being able to use their kitchen and fridge was an absolute bonus when you need to make sandwiches and the like. The breakfast was very good, and the couple who run the hotel were very helpful indeed. My only 'complaint' was that our room wasn't cleaned during our stay. Nothing major, but with dirt in our shoes from being outdoors all day, the floor got a little grubby - if there had been a dustpan and brush in the room it wouldn't have been a issue. We will definitely stay here again next time we are at the Red - Thanks!
Getaway
Beautiful room in a remote area. Very scenic view from the deck. Hopefully, their restaurant will open back up soon. Couple running the lodge went out of their way to make our stay comfortable.
Country home feel.
Quiet and comfortable. If you want a relaxing country cabin feel then this is the place for you.
Me and the wife
We were given room 201 it had two views. Most rooms only have the back view off the porch that wraps around the hotel. The kitchen access down stair is excellent. The pictures are true to what is there.

Our experience with this resort was okay. The room they gave us us so small for two queen beds we bumped into each other walking around. The bathroom door was at a very awkward location where you have to close it to open the room door and v
