Review for Cedar Point: I had high hopes for a fun family trip to Cedar Point, but it was a complete disaster and felt unsafe for my kids. The park was overrun with bugs, especially around the rides and Cedar Point Shores waterpark, making it impossible to enjoy anything without swatting them away or finding them crawling on us. The pools were particularly bad—bugs were floating in the water and covering the tubes in the lazy river, which was disgusting and unsettling for my children. Safety was a major concern. My kids kept getting hurt on rides and in the waterpark due to what seemed like poor maintenance and inadequate supervision. The kiddie pool area at Cedar Point Shores was a mess, with only a couple of slides open and no clear signage about closures, leading to confusion and accidents. The lifeguards seemed overwhelmed, and I didn’t feel confident they could properly monitor the crowded pools. Several slides were closed, and the ones that were open felt unsafe, with my kids slipping or bumping into things because of the chaotic environment. The overall experience was far from family-friendly. The staff didn’t seem to care about addressing the bug problem or ensuring the safety of younger guests. For a park that markets itself as a top family destination, I was shocked at how poorly maintained and unsafe it felt for kids. I’d strongly recommend families with young children avoid Cedar Point until they address these serious issues. Save your money and go somewhere clean

Unfortunately from the moment we arrived it was a bad experience. We had neighbors next door who were smoking marijuana and it made our whole room reek! As we know, that’s not the property fault but I went to front desk to explain as we had two kids with us. The manager was so rude about the situation and had us wait until about 10:30pm for a new room. Our kids were super cranky and just a bad overall first night. Once we were moved to the new room, the tv wasn’t working, tub wasn’t draining water properly, and the room was dirty. Food crumbs all over the floor. They refused to do anything for us. It was a take it or leave situation. No compensation, no help, no solutions. Second night, there was a group of about 9 kids running up and down our hallway at midnight for about an hour and banging on peoples doors. Called front desk, they didn’t do anything. Until finally one of the people next door came out and screamed at every single one of them. Very necessary. It’s a kids resort. Babies and toddlers are trying to sleep. I will say the cast workers ( the employees that held the dance parties and arts and crafts and all the fun things for kids) they were super sweet and nice to all the kids. We did feel all the “events” they had were very short. Dance party was about 10 minutes maybe less. Overall would give the place a 3/10. It was disappointing.

Check in took forever, longest check in I’ve ever experienced at a hotel. Room was okay, nothing special and not the cleanest. I wouldn’t use the microwave. We brought popcorn and the microwave almost set the bag on fire…plus the pool/waterpark closes at 8 which is ridiculous since check in took so long. The waterpark is okay, definitely for 10 years of age and under. The biggest water slide was obviously closed as well. Definitely won’t be staying here again.

My family absolutely loved it here! The kids had a blast at the water park and game room. I liked how they had a little show for the kids with different characters during certain times. Guest service was fast and friendly and check in/checkout was really quick and easy. We enjoyed our 2 day stay here and at Cedar Point, which is right around the corner from the hotel.

This property was very nice. The room was very clean. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. It was worth every dollar. I would definitely stay again.

Our room needed swept badly. We moved the bed against the wall so our little one would not roll out. When doing so the potato chips, food, dirt, hair ties were all exposed from under the bed. I realize you don’t always move beds, but it needs swept under there occasionally as it was atrocious.

First stay here and it was enjoyable. The kids had plenty of things to do for a whole day. The Waterpark was nice and so was our room. The arcade was a good size and we enjoyed the breakfast buffet in the morning. Highly recommended for family fun.

This was our third time staying at the property with children 4 and 7. The check in has always been quick although they mentioned booking with expedia almost like a negative? Regardless they were are to get 3 rooms in the same area for our group travel which was much appreciated! Upon arrival, the shower had a hair in it and some trash stuck in the drain that I removed myself. The TV remote did not have working batteries. Much to my surprise, the old school alarm clock was apparently set and went off at 5:58 AM! Luckily, i was able to turn off before my kids woke up but I never fell back asleep. Other amenities were great per usual, my kids love the craft room! Famous Dave’s was a a bit over priced and the food quality was much less than the original Quaker Steak so that part was disappointing.

Our room smelled like dead fish. It looked like it was last updated in the 80s. Staff were very nice, but we won’t be coming back.

My kids loved this hotel so much! They enjoyed the waterpark, the friendly staff and characters, and especially the craft room for kids. They thought it was hands down better than Great Wild Lodge. It made our family trip to Cedar Point even better.

I will start with a positive…the family suite was big enough for 4 kids & 2 adults. Problem is the room was filthy. There isn’t carpeting in the room, but they defintely didn’t mop the floors. We actually had to go buy spray cleaner & disinfectant. We had to request an iron & ironing board since there wasn’t one in the room. The water park is REALLY small & they closed 3 of the 6 bigger slides, so my older grandkids got bored QUICK. It did not meet our expectations in the least.

What a cute resort! The activities and water park were top notch!

I enjoyed the stay overall but the amenities are a bit pricey and should be included with the overall cost of the stay . Breakfast was overly priced when it should have been free with the hotel stay like many other hotels do . The cost of the arcade room was overly priced . I think the water park could have had a bit more for small children as I have a 2 and 5 year old and they couldn’t really do much but stay in the small toddler area. I wish I would have had a better room . They gave me the room right next to the arcade room which was noisy oftentimes at night when I was trying to get my little ones to sleep . Guests were a bit rude and not friendly once I checked out . They could train their staff at the front desk to be more friendly and inviting . I did enjoy the craft room . The girls loved it . I also enjoyed the characters that were really friendly and welcoming upon entrance into the hotel . I also enjoyed how everything was close to the hotel , like other restaurants and the Cedar Pointe beach . Made traveling really convenient .

We stayed here for the Waterpark, but many of the waterslides were not open, and they had too strict of rules around life jackets. My daughter knows how to swim, but due to her height had to wear a life jacket to use the pool.

Great time and affordable! Total of 5 kids had a blast!

The hotel was fine but the water park inside was understaffed and the best rides were down do to maintenance so kind of pointless to spend extra to stay there.

The hotel has plus and minus ..Lots to offer for the kids but also comes with steep pricing for all activities except the waterpark which is included with ur stay.The room we stayed in was far from clean I had to call front desk to have them send housekeeping up the bathroom was the worse the shower was full of hair and was dirty.The room has no carpet so you could see the dirt from the floor on my white socks, dead bugs in window sills, water damage on ceiling.The room has no dressers so no where to unpack ur belongings.The Staff are very friendly and buffet breakfast was good but also a bit pricy.The vent was filthy and the air sucks.if ur tired and want to rest this place is loud all night doors slamming, kids crying half night, people running down hallways all night could not sleep

The room was not clean. The beds were small. The shower water pressure was very low. The staff was not very “friendly “. We went to the breakfast buffet for breakfast! I dropped my napkin and asked for another. The clerk said I can’t give you one. You can go over to Starbucks and get one! Overall disappointed and won’t go back. The watepark was nice.

Half the water slides were not open multiple days in a row … due to “ short staffed” . Rooms were specious but blankets were very thin. Got floor level could hear others in the middle of the night getting into fight . Not sound proof for a 8 year old .

Our room smelt like urine and the room was not clean. Did not enjoy this hotel at all. Only benefit was 1 hour early entry to the park.

A lot of things were closed due to water testing and for other reasons. It’s not that big to start with so when things close it makes ir more crowded in other areas

It was not crowded. But was really not clean , very dusty and the room had nothing but 2plastic cups . No water , no coffee machines nothing , the body wash shampoo and hair shampoo was empty, honestly I was very disappointed. I don’t think I will come back to this place again,

There was stuff under the beds on the floor. There were dust bunnies all over in the bathroom. The floor needed to be swept. There was gum stuck to the side of the nightstand. The curtain was hanging on one end as it was broken.

Castaway Bay needs new mattresses. Also, the fire alarms went off while we were there. Overall the stay wasnt bad. But the hotel could use some updates.

We had an amazing family trip over Memorial Day Weekend!! The breakfast Buffett in the morning is a must!! All the food is so fresh and tasty. We were very impressed with the indoor waterpark and the water coaster was a hit with my boys!! The food at the water park was also top notch!! We look forward to staying with Castaway Bay in the future!!

Family weekend

We took our toddler for his birthday. It definitely exceeded our expectations. Room was great with a nice view of the bay. We were able to access the waterpark before check in. Overall a great family mini trip (1 night).

Fire alarm went off repeatedly at night and again early in the morning and caused a lot of anxiety especially for my 18 month old who was woken up abruptly and was very scared. Food absolutely sucks, rooms are super dirty and on top of that we came home with bedbugs. Horrible experience!

Staff was excellent, front desk was wonderful very welcoming! Me and my family really enjoyed our stay.

Not worth it

The cops were there for some reason, parents weren’t watching their kids. For the price of the room it definitely isn’t worth it.

Staff was amazing! Super conveniently located right by cedar point. Will be back again asap! Just wish the hot tub would stay open for adults later than 8pm..

We had a great stay for what we could. Our kid got sick the night before our stay and we called Expedia multiple times to reschedule it. We said we'd pay the difference. One agent said he talked to castaway bay and we could swap but he needed my card number but we had a bad phone connection. He gave me a number which I called and another agent screwed us saying he never called castaway but she would and would call me back. She never called back and we had to just make the most out of our sick stay. Hopefully no others got sick but I wasn't wasting 200 dollars for nothing. Won't use Expedia again.

Cheer Competition weekend

Castaway Bay is so fun! It’s affordable. My Grandkids love it. The waterpark is young kids friendly and the arcade has lots of games that I enjoy playing too. The only thing I can say that needs work are the mattresses.. They have definitely been used and are not comfortable. We will be back!

The staff was soo friendly. The attendant at rhe entrance tor hw water park was full of smiles, front desk was always helpful and rhe overall edperience was a blast for the whole family with 6 kids ranging from 16-5. Definately recommend.

Normally Castaway Bay is our favorite spot, but this time one of the elevators were down, the bathroom door didn’t lock, the drain to the tub wouldn’t stay open, the water park closed at 8 (check in isn’t til 4) operator line stayed busy… just a lot of downsides to this visit.

Water park was very nice. Lifeguards were very professional. Room was ok. Could use an upgrade on the bed. Air conditioner didnt work the first night and it was very hot sleeping. Told front desk and unit was fixed that day. We got a room that had 2 sets of bunk beds and king bed. There is a small room off of the sink area that would be a great changing room but no door or curtain. Water took a very long time to heat up in the shower and not sure if it ever gets warm in the sink. Could use a chair on the adult side of room. Coffee maker in the room would have been nice. Everything very pricey but I guess everything is anymore. There were lots of free activities for kids throughout the day and evening. Staff was friendly and helpful.

With the amount of money we pay we should be able to at least get a complementary breakfast

Loved everything about our experience we went on Easter weekend and it wasn’t super busy so it was great for my family of 7. We loved our room we got the room that had 1 king bed and 2 twin bunk beds so our older 4 each had their own bed and of course our baby slept with us. We ate at the buffet for dinner and breakfast and it was definitely convenient. We were able to eat and get right back to the festivities without having to hop in our car to go find food. The arcade was awesome they had a lot of super fun games and it was pretty big. The deal that weekend was worth every penny for $40 you got 160 credits to play and an automatic 250 tickets on your card for prizes whatever tickets you won playing games. For our size room (1 king bed and 4 twin beds) 6 wristbands Included was under $250, buffet for two nights was around $150 (but 2 of our 7 were free to eat because age 5 and under eat free). Not gonna lie I wanted to do this trip so bad and I was looking into other water parks and I was so upset with the prices at the other parks I almost cancelled this trip but something told me to check with castaway bay and thank god I did. This was way more affordable then the prices I seen at other water parks in the area. I have kids ranging from age 13-1 and literally everyone had a blast including my husband and myself. WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK! I forgot to mention you can make payments for your stay on Afterpay. Finally something for the big families that’s still affordable.

This was our first time staying and it was an amazing adventure. We will most definitely be coming back. We came to celebrate our 13th birthday. We’ll be coming back to celebrate a third birthday in October.

Water was kinda cold. Rooms were nice but poorly cleaned. Took 4 days after we left to get our deposit back, when we were told we would get it at check out.. I would go back if the water was warmer

Nice place Family friendly

The waterpark hours were only 11am (check out time) to 8pm. Check-in at 4 get a few hours of waterpark go to dinner and the park is now closed. Next day wait around for 4 hours for it to open. Check out was very slow. Only 1 small elevator was working. The line for the elevator was 20 minutes long. Limited baggage carts.

I am a self proclaimed “picky person” I over analyze everything! This was a last minute spring break weekend trip for my family. We have done great wolf, Kalahari and many other waterpark/hotel stays. Castaway bay has been one of the cleanest places we have stayed! The room, the amenities, and the water park were all exceptionally well taken care of. I’m always telling my 5 and 6 year old “don’t touch that, stay away from this or that and that was not the case here. The lifeguards were also very attentive and with two littles this was very much appreciated. I could not give this place higher praise! We will for sure be back!

We had such an amazing stay during our mini vacation. Lots to do at the water park with endless fun! From arcade games, crafts, dance parties and many things to do around the resort. Food is a bit pricey but to be expected. Rooms were plenty big. Will be returning in the future for more fun!

Clean rooms and waterpark!

I had read some mixed reviews about Castaway Bay so I was weary about our stay but I am here to give a glowing review. First the cleanliness of the hotel… wow. As a mom, staying at hotels that lack on cleanliness is awful but this place keeps very well maintained, clean areas throughout! The waterpark is nice and warm- I had read some reviews about it being cold which worried me because I am usually that person that is always cold but I was very comfortable. My kids (10,8, and 5) had an absolute blast and also really enjoyed the escape room, glow golf, arcade, bowling, and the craft area. The dinner buffet was very pricy so we skipped that but on our last day we did decide to do the breakfast buffet which seemed expensive but with unlimited coffee refills and the absolutely delicious waffles (literally like cookie waffles) it was well worth the money. I was glad we ended up staying here rather than the other places in the area. We without a doubt would stay here again!

The Guest services at check-in were polite, efficient and informative. I wish I had known the resurant attached to the hotel was closed. Good news, they are rebuilding to open a different restaurant.

Wont be back

We just went here for the indoor waterpark. The hotel room was very dirty. There was dirt in every corner. There was dust everywhere. The keys to our room wouldnt work several times even though we had new ones made. The elevators kept malfunctioning. The walls were very thin and we could hear neighbors and people in the hallway constantly. The events they hold are laughable. We had fun at the waterpark but there was a bandaid and chewed gum in the wave pool... so we left early.

We had a great experience. The boys had a blast. My son had a bit of a health scare while at the water park, but the staff were amazing at helping us! They were so well trained and ready for anything.
