Nice staff, always good comunccation

Great location close to shops and restaurants. Staff were quite friendly and breakfast was really good. Will definitely come back next time we're in Cappadocia!

Great small hotel with helpful staff. The owner is British but has lived in Cappadocia for years. She helped with car rental and daily tour planning. Great view and good food, too!

An unforgettable experience

The hotel was a great experience: the rooms were beautiful, a real cave hotel - breakfast on the terrace great - Colleen, the owner was amazing. With all her good advice she made our trip unforgettable.

Nice hotel, great location for shopping and restaurants, nice rooms.... not exactly a cave hotel as advertised just a building attached to a cave. Breakfast was quite disappointing, shower seemed to have issues, Internet was terrible.

Amazing Cave Hotel Experience

I had such an amazing stay at Cave Konak, I will certainly come back. The hotel is a beautifully restored set of ancient cave and above ground rooms, a stone's throw from the town's shops and restaurants, with great views and packed with loving attention to detail throughout - from the eclectic mix of authentic ornaments and furnishings, the cave carvings designed by the owners, the lighting, to the type of locally sourced stone used in the excellent bathrooms; and with each room being unique (Co-owner Adnan proudly gave me a tour). The same care and attention is also extended to the guests, with every effort made to make your stay the best it could be. If you're fortunate enough to stay here, you'll also find that the owners are exceptionally knowledgeable about the town (Urgup), Cappadocia, Turkey and all the rich history imbued throughout. After some casual but engaging chats with Adnan for example, I asked for a personal tour with him of an underground city in Nevsehir. My mind was blown by the knowledge he imparted. Not just at the city (which has to be seen to be believed), but also during the drive to/from the site via beautiful towns with unique history and character. I honestly cannot recommend this place highly enough and left with a feeling of warmth, friendship and an deep appreciation of thousands of years of history from the many civilisations that have influenced the area. An amazing experience. Stay here!

Great "cave" experience

Great experience, even in the snow! Adnan has a wonderful place and was very helpful. Not a breakfast person but did try the many wonderful homemade treats they serve.

This place was amazing! One of the best places we've stayed in a long time. Colleen and Adnan were both an absolute pleasure and so incredibly helpful. Colleen's daily morning briefings for recommendations of places to visit for that day were perfect. Honestly could not recommend this place enough.

Perfect Experience!

This review won't be able to do full justice for how good the stay was here. Colleen helped me so much as soon as I booked my stay. I emailed back and forth with her to let her know everything I wanted to do in the area. She booked a Turkish Nights dinner, a balloon ride, a day tour and a trip to an underground city for me. I was probably a big pain (expecially since I was only able to stay one night), but she always went above and beyond to make my stay exceptional. On top of the wonderful service, the cave rooms at this hotel are amazing! If they had anything like this in the States, it would easily be a few hundred dollars per night. Instead, this hotel is priced very affordably and located in a great part of the downtown. It's a 2 minute walk to the bus stop so it makes it very easy to get here. If I ever make it back to Urgup, I will be booking at this hotel again. Thanks for a perfect experience!

Lovely room with Hugh bathroom.

Great hotel that is walking distance from town centre with lovely terrace to have breakfast on and a quiet sit in the afternoon. Own where very helpful and accommodating for our late check in. The draw back would be the early morning call to pray but once over roll over and go back to sleep. People with mobility problems may find stair hard to get up and down.

Look no further

We booked this place because of the great reviews and those reviews were right! So many elements of the Hotel Konak are wonderful: the rooms are clean and full of character, the bed really comfortable, the shower great and the wifi very fast. Breakfast on the roof terrace was great as well. A full spread of meats, cheeses, olives, fresh fruit and vegetables and fresh bread, as well as eggs cooked to order (try the menemen—delicious!) The location couldn’t be any better. It’s right by the center of town and bus station, so there are plenty of restaurants and shops around. All of the famous Cappadocian landmarks are easily accessible from the hotel. As fellow hoteliers and independent travellers, we found the owners, Colleen and Adnan to be very friendly and professional when it came to giving information about local attractions and tours. They gave details of tours without being pushy and were very helpful and knowledgeable when we had questions about how to discover things on our own. Both owners made a real effort to ensure that all of their guests were fully satisfied. We were glad we decided to stay in Urgup, as it felt less plastic than Goreme; our stay at Hotel Konak was likewise a great decision.

Wonderful cave hotel with attention to detail

What a fantastic treat this was. This cave hotel was fully-renovated within the past 5 years and plenty of tasteful and original details were retained. Proprietor is an energetic and very helpful veteran of the area. She helps to train area guides at the nearby university and is very familiar with local services and guides. Strong recommendation for a comfortable, affordable cave hotel experience.

An Almost Perfect Boutique Hotel in Urgup

I've traveled all over the world and this was one of my favorite hotels anywhere. It was really almost a perfect place to stay. The old stone building is a bit like a castle and the thick, stone walls kept my room a fairly constant and pleasant temperature day and night. I never had to use the air conditioner in June. The room and cavernous bathroom were spotlessly clean and comfortable. The bed was superb as was the WiFi throughout the hotel. The very pleasant roof terrace was a wonderful place for breakfast and to relax in the evenings with superb views of Urgup and the surrounding countryside. The breakfasts were also outstanding with homemade bread and jams, eggs made to order, cereal, and traditional Turkish breakfast fare. The hotel is located right by the main square of Urgup, which is a wonderful town. The location is just about perfect and extremely convenient to restaurants, shops, tour company offices, and public transport. I passed through Goreme, which has more tourists than locals, several times and I was very happy I chose to stay in Urgup. The staff was friendly and helpful. There are two things travelers should be aware of though. First there is a mosque across the street and the call to prayer is quite loud. I had no trouble sleeping though. This may not be a good choice for you if you have trouble with stairs. My in-suite bathroom was about five feet above my room, accessed by stone stairs. Stairs are also required to reach the terrace and upper rooms.

Simply perfect

Wow! Before booking this hotel, I did quite a bit of research. The family that runs this hotel are the nicest and most helpful service I have seen. They bend over backwards to accomidate, help plan, and make your trip as rewarding as Cappadocia should be. A+!

Absolutely fantastic!

I read a review that this hotel was a past guests best hotel experience, well it's mine too. Honestly, everything about it Deserves top marks. The room, bed, bathroom - delux shower, the chambermaids, hotel management, breakfast service, all brilliant. The view - wonderful. You can eat breakfast on the balcony upstairs, breathtaking view. All you need is on your doorstep, grocery store, restaurants, coffee shops and opposite is a Turkish bath/ Hamam. The bus station is just up the road so you can catch the overnight bus to anywhere in the country. The mushroom stones are a 10min walk awAy. Must afar Pasion a short bus ride away. Irgun is quiet and less touristy than its neighbor Goreme, so it provides a more authentic taste of local life. Would definitely stay here again. High recommend it!

Great view and authentic hospitality

If you're looking to experience authentic Cappadocian hospitality while staying in a traditional cave dwelling, look no further! The hotel has been restored over to have modern amenities with spacious and comfortable rooms. The staff are very helpful with booking tours / arranging travel, and the breakfast provided is excellent. The hotel has a great terrace overlooking central Urgub.

Everything I could hope for in Cappadocia and more

Best hotel experience ever (and I've slept on all 7 continents and in 32 countries). I took a quick overnight with my father to fulfill my dream of seeing Cappadocia and Colleen and Adnan at Hotel Cave Konak made the entire experience perfect! Amazing rooms, unparalleled hospitality and perfect location. First, Colleen and Adnan are incredible hosts as others have stated. Colleen speaks english (native) and turkish and was able to coordinate our airport transfer, tour, balloon ride and anything else we could think of, I cannot express how easy and fun she made our short stay in Cappadocia. Utilize her knowledge and services and make your trip easier! For her hospitality alone I would strongly recommend the hotel. But Hotel Cave Konak is more than the kind and caring owners. The rooms themselves are simply amazing. My cave room was such a unique experience that cannot be replicated anywhere in the world and was exactly what I wanted (Byzantine room). My father stayed in a 1/2 above 1/2 below ground room which was also amazing (Ottoman). Check the hotel website for room descriptions but any room will delight. Location is perfect, near center of town and Urgup is not over touristy like Goreme (our tour crossed through Goreme about 10x in one day!), Urgup has a nice local, friendly and real feel. A hamam is across the street and grocery stores, restaurants and shops are around the corner. Other hotels I looked at in Urgup are about a 15 minute walk from these conveniences.

Unique experience

This was the best hotel we stayed in during our 4 week holiday to Turkey. Colleen, our host was extremely helpful. All of the staff were friendly and helpful in fact. The cave rooms were beautifullly decorated, all rooms were individually styled. We would highly recommend this hotel.

A Great Experience!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay at Hotel Cave Konak and wished we were able to stay longer. Our cave room was beautiful, spacious and quite unique. The entire hotel has a beautiful old-world look and feel to it with distinctive architectural accents everywhere. If you're thinking of opting for the Breakfast package - do it! After eating your Turkish breakfast with the homemade jams and Pekmek on the rooftop terrace, you won't want to eat breakfast anywhere else. The breakfast is delicious and views from the terrace are amazing. The terrace is also a great place to end the evening with a bottle of wine enjoying the views and the cool air. Even more amazing than the hotel itslef, is the staff. Colleen and Adnan are exemplary hosts and their knowledge of the surrounding area is priceless. Every day after breakfast Colleen sat down with us to help plan our day of sightseeing. While I had done a lot of research on where to go and what to see, her "inside" knowledge and tips on places to go (some I hadn't even heard of) really made a difference. Colleen and Adnan are both very proud of the work they have put into the hotel, and rightly so. Adnan gave us a tour of some of the other rooms as well as parts of the hotel and caves still undergoing renovation. It was quite fascinating, and really gave us an appreciation of all the hard work that was put into transforming these old buildings and caves into something quite special. This was our favorite stay in all of Turkey.

nice hotel

loved the hotel, very friendly staff, unfortunately most of them speaking very rudimentary English, still extremely willful to help; the room was great very stylish and comfy

Small rooms but owner very pleasant and helpful

I stayed one night at this establishment and I found the room nice but small. There is very little room to store luggage. The room had a great view but since it was directly above the road you hear lots of noise from oustside. It is located less than half a mile from the bus station in Urgup so a taxi is not needed if you travel light. The owner and staff were extremely helpful. She helped rearrange my bus ticket so I could get to me next destination in a timely manner. Overall I had a pleasant stay.

Best Personal Service

This hotel is very nice and close to many sites. We were most impressed by the personal service. Colleen made sure we had everything we needed, helped us book our tour, and made excellent recommendations. We would definitely come back!!

Seemed odd

Sometimes there are hotels where the whole is greater then the parts. This hotel was the opposite; the parts were greater then the sum. The worst part was the interaction between the hotel owner and her "partner". He constantly said the most unflattering things and she was always down playing his inanity. Just weird. The room I was in was nicely decorated, but the steep stairs leading to the bathroom were inconvenient. The hotel seemed surrounded by a lot of rubbish and dilapidation, but it is right in the center of town. There are definitely nicer places to stay.

Unique experience

We loved the design and attention to detail of our underground accommodation. the room was spacious with a separate sitting room and a huge bathroom which even had a double shower. The marble tiling was beautiful as was the subtle lighting. The hotel decoration was tastefully capadoccian in style. The elevated breakfast and dining area provides a wonderful view of the old and new town. We appreciated the advice given each day in relation to sight seeing activities and the culture.

One-of-a-kind service

I have stayed at a number of cave hotels. This hotel sets itself apart from the others with the very personable service that the hotel owners provide. The rooms are clean and filled with interesting historic decorative items. The location is great, within 1 min walk of downtown Urgup. The only disadvantage I noticed was there was no dedicated parking. The city streets are safe to park, but difficult to find one near the hotel. Despite this inconvenience, I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel.

Beautiful, cozy friendly small cave hotel.

We loved our experience at Konak Cave Hotel! The owner, Colleen, was incredibly helpful by email prior to our visit in terms of helping us get the most out of our visit to Cappadocia and our other destinations in Turkey. She recommended a wonderful tour guide and helped arrange a hot air balloon ride as well. The hotel was cozy and clean and included a full breakfast. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great hotel and service

I was a little skeptical of going to a small hotel but I was very pleasantly surprisde. Excellent hotel, very clean rooms, great service and the Wifi worked great even though we stayed in a room in the cave. I highly recommend this hotel and would certainly return here aagin.

일단 카파도키아 숙소 가격대비 합리적이었다고 생각합니다. 다섯명이 사용하기에 화장실이 조금 작고 따듯한 물 나오는데 시간이 좀 걸립니다. 변기 수압도 좀 약합니다. 가장 좋았던 점은 아침식사입니다. 종류는 많지 않았지만 다 맛있고 프레쉬했습니다. 갓 나온 오믈렛과 감자튀김도 따듯하고 맛있었어요. 직원분들도 모두 친절합니다.

Wir haben uns in diesem Hotel sehr wohl gefühlt. Es ist alles in einem gepflegten und sehr sauberen Zustand. Insgesamt bietet es eine tolle Atmosphäre und stimmt einen darauf ein was es alles zu entdecken gibt. Das Personal besteht zu großen Teilen aus der Familie und das spürt man. Jederzeit war jemand ansprechbar und wir haben viele Insider Tipps zur Umgebung und ihrer Geschichte bekommen. Wir kommen bestimmt noch einmal wieder.

El hotel es muy bonito y los cuartos muy grandes y cómodos. El servicio es excelente. Desde antes de llegar nos ayudaron a organizar nuestro viaje en globo y desde que llegamos fueron muy serviciales y nos llevaron hasta nuestro cuarto, nos dieron el tour y nos dijeron dónde podríamos cenar y el desayuno que preparan es delicioso y todo casero. Nos encantó y volveríamos cada que pudiéramos.

Otelin konumu çok iyi. Ürgüp abiyansına uyumlu.Terasta manzara çok güzel. Kahvaltıda hijyen koşulları çok iyi uygulanmış ve kahvaltı çeşitliliği gayet makul. Otel sahipleri her konuda yardımcı oluyor.ilgilerinden memnun kaldık. Tavsiye ederim

Located in the very center of Ürgüp with all you need (restaurants, shops, travel agencies etc.) in short walking distance. The hotel itself covers at least part of a historic building. Our room was nicely furnished and had a lovely bath with a really spacious and modern shower comprising two separate shower units. The (british) lady running the hotel was very helpful (could arrange for a hot air balloon flight although completely booked out in the internet), provided ample information about the sights in the vicinity and gave useful tips on where to go and what to see. Breakfast was good and the breakfast terrace with its nice views a good starter into the day (well the start always was a little early (5 am), since the near by muezzin and its amplified morning prayer call was not to be overheard). We very appreciated our stay.
