Simple, clean room.
Old time motel that was clean and comfortable. The gentleman at the front desk was extremely friendly during check-in. If you are looking a simple, reasonably priced room this is a great option.
Consider Where You Want Your Money to Go
The owner wears a red hat. If you prefer not to financially support people who wear red hats, then don't stay here. I wish I had known prior to booking because I would have chosen a different locale. When the owner found out I was from Minnesota, he started cracking a joke about my governor, which I shut down by saying that my gov was a great, kind man. Completely inappropriate to be aggressively forcing your politics on patrons. The property is dated, but in a good location, near downtown, which is why I originally chose it.
All was nice.
Convenient location. Clean. Beds were hard. Could use an update but met our needs.
Amazing! Tony was so friendly and welcoming. The room was very clean. We loved our stay and can’t wait to return again!
The room was a very nice size and the check-in gal was nice and helpful. No coffee pot in the room so it was more of an effort to habituate to the coffee room. Handyvlication.
Agawa Canyon trip.
Stayed 2 nights so i could do the Agawa Canyon train. The location was perfect and the place was dated but clean and quaint. I would stay again.
It was easy to find and the gentleman in the office was very pleasant. Would stay here again.
The water in the shower could have been warmer with more pressure but other than that very clean with comfortable beds.
None
The property was easy to find and very close after coming back from Canada. The room was super clean and the check in woman was very friendly.
We always stay here when we come to town. It’s a quiet clean and convenient location
Nice, quaint roadside motel. Very clean and comfortable. Bathroom was small but neither of us are large people so it was fine. Shower was great!
Our stay was great. After 14 hours on the road we got a nice quiet night. Marsha and Tony were great hosts.
The property and personnel were great. It does seem to me for $155/night there might have been microwaves in the room and some kind of a breakfast, which they clearly used to do. But we slept well and all was comfortable.
Weekend trip
We were at a convention for a weekend. It was a large room that was clean and staff was friendly. It was affordable.
Just what we were looking for!
It was a wonderful room from a mom and Pop style hotel. The decorations were a little older, but new and clean.
A bit dated but very clean. Friendly staff!
Friendly host at check-in. Quaint but clean.
A/C was in the other room and not in the bedroom. it was a small window unit that took several hours to cool the bedroom. parking stall was a steep hill with lines painted on it. much of it was taken up by a picnic bench. room smelled because of disuse. room was very expensive compared to its quality
We have stayed here many times over the years. I like the size of the rooms and how clean and comfortable it is.
Marsha and Tony were great hosts, the check in process was easy. This is an older motel, as such it is dated. The air conditioner did not have full access to the sleeping area as it was partially hidden by a wall. This resulted in the room being warm even with the air on. There are picnic tables and chairs outside that allowed us to relax with our friends. Thanks for the hospitality.
The staff was very friendly and the rooms were very clean.
The room was much bigger than I anticipated. It was clean. There was a television, fridge, tabke 2 chairs aling with 2 beds. The bathroom had a large shower, but the shower head is lower than normal. Great water pressure. Fabulous for hot showers. There are safety handles if you are traveling with those needing more security in slippery places. There was an abundant supply of towels. The toilet is situated in a way that may be problematic for larger bodies. Soap, shampoo, conditioner, and makeup wipes supplied. There is a blow dryer too. There is a covered picnic area with a grill. They have an area with an ice maker, soda machine, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and snack machine. The man checking us in was super nice. He gave us a map and some suggestions on things to see. One was the Soo Lock boat tour which we did. The key has a mini flaslight hookered on it. Convenient, accept it kept turning on by itself and was very bright. We but it in the bathroom and closed the door at night. Ha!
I was greeted warmly by staff when I checked in. The room was large, clean, and comfortable. Restaurants were within walking distance.
Beds way to soft hurts my back !!!
easy to park the truck and boat, this is why we always try to stay here.
Perfect place
Just a perfect place for a small family to rest from a long drive from the south.
Excellent checkin man very n ice
4th of July Getaway
Very nice place. The motel was in a safe location and close walk to the Soo locks. Would definitely stay here again.
Perfectly right in the middle of the soo lock and lake state college.
Our stay was one night only to watch the opening of the Soo Locks. The room was comfortable and clean.
The room was so clean! Cheaper than options with more amenities that we weren't interested in anyway. Loved having fresh coffee available all the time, the view is beautiful, and it's an easy walk into town. Room was much more spacious than I expected, and there was a nice little table with chairs that was great for dining. I'll have to bring my dog next time I stay here!
Great place to stay
Comfy
Charming place to spend the night-comfy and clean
The room was very clean and well taking care of for the age of the motel. Front desk clerk was extremely polite and so very helpful!! Would definitely stay here again. Thanks for a great stay.
Excellent
Favorite place to stay in the Soo! Always friendly and clean.
Always very clean and comfy. Quiet and dog friendly.
The location was good. The room was clean, although there was an odor that I couldn't identify - just old, maybe. I would not stay here again, based mostly on the fact that there are NO IN-ROOM COFFEEMAKERS and NO MICROWAVES! The owner nicely said there was coffee available 24-7 and 2 microwaves - HOWEVER, they are located in another room that is located about halfway between all of the rooms -- these are outside entry doors. So to get coffee in the morning, one must go outside and walk however far it is necessary to get to this room with coffee and microwaves. This is Northern Michigan. It's cold in the winter. It was 19 one morning (with a windchill of 11). My husband got dressed and walked to the coffee room. The parking lot had a lot of ice and snow on it. When he returned, the door was opened, of course, letting in cold air. It is not a good situation and is not very user-friendly to those who stay there. The bathroom was extremely basic. Extremely. The shower door was flimsy and barely wide enough to accommodate a medium-sized person. We paid at least $20 more, per night, than friends who stayed in another place where they had in-room coffeemakers and microwaves and a basic continental breakfast. The owner was pleasant, but this place just needs to be updated with basic amenities.
Basic motel,small bathrooms,but clean quiet,and convenient.
Convenient to down town, Budget Host is a safe and clean option to stay at SSM. Husband and wife owners are welcoming, care about each guest, and genuinely want your stay to be the best. Old school motel!
Older establishment but they make up for it with friendly, old fashioned customer service. Comfortable bed, hot shower and well heated. Parking lot and sidewalks were cleared of snow and salted. 24 hr customer care center with snacks, microwave ovens and free hot beverages. A hidden gem!
Good stay!
The owner Marsha was a very accommodating lady. Allowed early checkin for me. Unfortunately the coffee maker onsite was flashing a E30 code so i was unable to have my morning coffee. Would highly recommend and will stay again!
The person at the front desk was welcoming and accommodating. When I asked for a room close to the sidewalk to make it easier to walk our dog, she gave us a free room-upgrade. (Note: this was in mid-October so the motel wasn't full.) She also made a good recommendation on a restaurant. Despite being on a busy street, the our room was very quiet. It was clean and comfortable as well.
Good Stay
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and comfortable.
Tony and Martha are so kind and accommodating in ever way. Wonderful location to everything, walking distance to down town ans the soo locks. Minutes from big stores. Highly recommend!!
Older motel but has been kept up well and updated. Comfortable beds, all rooms on ground level and “Tank” the bl lab welcomes you with a smile. Plenty of outlets for all your recharging needs
I didn't like that the internet didn't work and I was close to the office. I had better service in a cabin in the woods. I also didn't like that I had to get dressed to go use the microwave, since it was in a separate building and not in the room; same with coffee.
Great place to stay! Check in was a breeze and the lady was super nice. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Short drive to restaurants and downtown. Room to park a truck and trailer!
Good location to area activities Very well kept up property considering age of building. All staff friendly and willing to talk
Owners/staff are friendly. Room was clean. Second year staying here and got the same room. Thought was cool. Will be back next year
Nice and simple to get to. Would recommend.
Great clean place to stay.
easy check in, parking space for truck and boat
The staff exceptionally friendly and helpful! Rooms very clean with unique layout. The 12 inch step to get into room was a challenge for my wheelchair bound son.
Soo trip
Clean comfortable room with basic amenities. Good value for price
It is clean and nice and near to Soo lock.
Nice place
Comfortable room .pretty near everything
Super friendly, courteous, accommodating, clean.
Penny was very accommodating.
Water pressure in the shower was good. Bed was comfortable and the property was quiet. Enjoyed having a microwave, hot drinks, ice and plastic utensils and paper plates in the common area to use free of charge.
Very nice and clean property. It's refreshing to stay at a place where the owners show they truly care about the customer experience. We will definitely will stay there again on any future visits to the Sault Ste. Marie area.
Our room had a nice view and it was very clean. The air conditioner was a little noisy, but it kept the room comfortably cool.
Nice place on a budget
The staff was very friendly. Check in was a breeze. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Price was reasonable. It was a great, no frills place to stay as we were passing through.
Clean room, friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere.
Nice stay here.
The night clerk fixed the shower head at 11pm for us to get hot water
Clean, comfortable and convenient.
When blowing the snow off of the sidewalk the owner blew off all of the guests vehicles. When I stayed there previously he cleared a path through the snow between vehicles. What a great gesture!!!
The manager was not friendly and was not aware of our reservation. It said it was pet friendly but there is an extra charge for a pet!! I reserved 1 queen bed room and got two doubles. Which was NOT what i registered for!!! I was dissapointed with the room and sevice and will not be staying there ever again!!!!
Very nice that our car was cleaned of snow from nights snow storm and a path around the car was shoveled also.
Clean rooms the room we werebin needed updates/rehab, but beds were clean and and comfortable
Pleasant Inn
Great budget friendly Inn. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. You can reach the snowmobile trails from hotel. We will definitely stay there again. Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable.
It was american owned and the staff was very nice!
Nice, neat and clean. Plan on returning in a couple of months.
Clean and comfortable. Great shower and bathroom. Ceiling in sleeping area needs updating.
Need an enclosed dog area. Weak to no wifi.
Everything was nice and clean. Friendly staff. No complaints.
Great place, friendly anf considerate. We'll stay here again
Friendly staff, exceptionally clean rooms!
The stay at the cresent view motel was great! The staff were friendly! Rooms were exceptionally clean an inviting! Great location for quite, with a wonderful view.
Super clean, had all necessities, easy in and out.
Thanks for a nice stay
We had a very nice stay. It was clean looking and the beds were comfortable. The people we spoke with were wonderfully friendly and helpful. Don’t expect a 5 star hotel, but a nice place to lay your head while seeing the Soo.
Just OK
The room was small, but clean. Not enough AC plugs for charging phones and CPAP machine. Free coffee is convenient though undoubtedly instant. Air conditioner was loud even on low setting. We paid $99 a night for two nights, more would be too much. No MSNBC, bummer!
Regular coffee was available in the early hours of the morning.
The management and staff are very accommodating. The rooms are clean. Excellent Wi-Fi.
Clean comfortable room, comfortable bed, friendly staff
A wonderful surprise!!
This was a pleasant surprise, hidden in the middle of the city. How nice to find a comfortable recliner in my room, to stretch out and relax in, after my long drive. They allow pets, for an extra $20 fee. There isn't a ton of space to walk your pet, but it's clean and will kept. Plump pillows, crisp, clean sheets, and it's very quiet once you're in your room with the door and window closed. We have business there once a month, so I look forward to making this the regular place to stay.
Clean but dated...
The room was clean but very dated. The bathroom sink didn’t drain very well and the shower was like a high school locker room shower. The water temp fluctuated greatly. But all was very clean which is most important to me. The bed was very firm so we didn’t sleep the best. The room did have a fridge and what appeared to be fairly new carpet. Check in and check out were quick and easy.
super clean!
Pleasantly surprised at the quality of this place. Super clean room and very comfortable. The shower was all tile and no dirty grout! It was cleaner than some more expensive hotels I’ve stayed at on same trip. It’s obvious that the owners take pride in the place—friendly, clean, and flower boxes with well kept plants throughout. I would definitely stay here again.
We had never stayed anywhere in the area. It was easy to find, easy to check in, and friendly staff. We were comfortable for the night, and convenient to area when we left.
The staffs are nice but the motel is very dated, the room is small & look dirty It also lacks the amenities that other motel/hotel offers such as coffee maker, small breakfast etc. We paid $100/night for our room. If we had known, we would rather paid more for a nicer hotel.
Spacious room with comfortable beds. Refrigerator was on the larger side which was nice. There was a handwritten note from our housekeeper Noreen thanking us for our stay and letting us know she would get us anything we need - very thoughtful and personalized. Would recommend and stay again
Great place to rest up
Clean room, lots towels & mini frig & free coffee - got to have my caffeine in the morning. Easy access to freeway.
Wonderful room, very clean and comfortable. Definitely recommend this.
Quiet stay. Friendly Management. Accomodations were adequate.
great stay in UP
Great motel locally owned. Very close to downtown. Very friendly. Very clean rooms. Comfy beds. Older carpet that was musty smelling and the bathroom was tiny but clean! Very comfy even though it could use some updates.
Clean and comfy
Great little place. Rooms were clean and comfy and the hosts very friendly. A very nice place to stay for a night.
Quaint Old School Motel
Really quaint old school motel.
Rooms were super clean. Super cute place. We stayed two nights. Close to town. Great location. We will be back.
