Nice but very rustic. Not a lot of amenities when we were there. The great room is really nice. Our room was really small
A very quaint experience. In the middle of nowhere a very rustic lodge. Staff were awesome, we got a bigger room after finding the first one a bit too small. The heating panel didn't work properly in our room but it was solved with a space heater that worked well. The onsite restaurant is excellent; too bad they don't serve breakfast, only dinner.
Rustic charm meets modern art
Nestled in quiet little valley with a stream, large, clean, rustic cabin with a great room and on-site restaurant, variety of interesting metal artworks both inside and out on the grounds, including a xylophone sound garden, close to Boulder and Upper and Lower Creek Calf Falls just a few minutes down the old Hells Backbone road. Very friendly staff.
This was a very interesting unique property
Beautiful room and location but minimalist staff and breakfast
The staff member at check in was extremely kind and welcoming. When we asked about what to do for dinner (which is limited in the area) because the restaurant on site was closed, she graciously called and made a reservation 10 minutes down the road at Hell’s Backbone Grill. The experience overall was great.
Boulder Mountain Guest Ranch is an absolutely beautiful getaway! Remote, quiet, a beautiful natural setting, and the lodge itself is stunning. The staff was friendly, helpful and welcoming. Our room was tiny but cozy and quiet. Our personal bathroom was roomy and clean. The lounge area was clean, quiet and cozy with self-serve coffee and tea available, as well as a beautiful fireplace and board games. We were given bagged continental breakfasts that consisted of apples, hard boiled eggs, muffins and granola bars. Since we had a long drive ahead of us, we appreciated the convenient travel food. We would definitely stay at this lodge again!
Great location and price. Took shower, teeth in nonattached bath, then found out ecoli warning was pt 8 font. Room so small could move around bed and no dresser or even one hook for clothes.
Given the e. Coli situation the notice to guests was lame. Concierge should advise people at check in and the 12 pt font letter in the bathroom is very tiny. Otherwise everything great.
Water warning ecoli etc, so you are limited to water from dispenser, in lounge area. In the morning, that water was nearly empty. Apparently their water source has failed two inspections since September, so check before you go. Breakfast is a very unappetizing little grab and go back left for you in room mini frig. Coffee pot in lounge area is set up be whoever wakes up first, and disagreements over how to prepare occur. Apparently no management on site in the morning. There was an organized group of youth staying or camping there, and THEY got what smelled like a delicious buffet breakfast. That was pretty frustrating to us. Finally our room was tiny, and stuffy. Window could not be opened. Fan was super noisy. We did however enjoy dinner in restaurant that evening. Staff that we met in the evening was very pleasant , but no one around in the morning, at least not for regular guests.
This gorgeous cozy place was a welcome night off from camping our way through through Utah and beyond dog friendly, they actually welcome and loved our dogs and super accommodating staff. Restaurant was wonderful
The room was too small
Great place and stay. Thanks very much.
We didn't like that we did not get a room. They said that our reservation was cancelled. I had a confirmed reservation on my Expedia app.
Location was scenic. Nice open area where you could sit and view the surrounding property. Room was clean and roomy enough. Bed was comfortable, water pressure and temp good. Continental breakfast and coffee area was solid. Only issue was the room was right next to the dining area and you could easily hear whoever was out there. There were no customers after about 9pm so not a big deal.
Loved the people, super friendly and helpful. Kept the restaurant open so we could shower before eating. Provided an extra breakfast, too.
The room was hot with no air conditioning and the window opened to the dining room. I should have been told this
Average stay
We did not get the room I reserved. The air conditioning was in an awkward spot so it blew right over our faces and also didn’t work if we drew the curtains, meaning we had to choose between privacy and comfort. There was also a bright blue light in our room that was impossible to turn off. The shower was very small and there was some mold on the curtain. Overall, there seemed to be a lack of attention to detail when it came to guest comfort. Pros: The location was beautiful and there were several adorable cats around the property. The attached restaurant was quite good. For its value and location it was satisfactory but I probably won’t stay there again.
We liked a lot about the property and the room, but there were two concerns. First, the bed was cratered. You couldn’t help but roll into the middle. Made it very cramped and not a good night’s sleep. Second, the breakfast snack left for us in the fridge seemed very old. The hard boiled eggs smelled awful as soon as the fridge door was cracked.
lovely location need written directions online as GPS slightly off need rooms 6,7,8 better marked
Hotel restaurant was closed. Front desk person said they had planned on notifying all guests before arrival but didn't do so. Sign posted in room notifying that E-coli was contaminated water source and to not drink. We drove into town to get something to eat and tried to phone to cancel our stay. Phone service indicated 'service not available. We found accommodations at another hotel.
Cozy room, friendly guests, and that’s about it…
The accommodations were cozy, but the restaurant was closed, and there was no lodge employees around the next morning. The ‘included’ continental breakfast was a hard boiled egg…
Room and bed were very comfortable. Great room was nice extension for small room. Reservation was a bit confusing working around a workshop. When I arrived reception said they were closed. Showed them my Expedia res and they moved me to another location. Was just glad to have room somewhere that first night. After driving all day I was a bit disappointed to have to find food and drive some more. After a break of several days, came back for 3 nights at the lodge and that was very nice.
Choose a Yert at this place.
We stayed in 3rd floor rm...no elevator which we only want for suitcases. Bathroom off vestibule...not in room. They had no towels until asked for. No directions where to get cont'l. breakfast. No directions on how to use heater...it had remote but nothing worked. Odor as if they were using electronic air purifying...which bothered our senses. Receptionist friendly but lack of directions on room use was not good. Water dribbled from sink faucet. Water closet seat loose. Heater was beautiful contemporary fireplace like look but wouldn't shut off and lit the whole room. Couldn't sleep until unplugged...plus problems noted above.
When we arrived there was no one in the office. We called out and rang the bell but no one came. I tried to call the hotel number but there was no service. Luckily a man stopped by who helped the owners out sometimes. He finally got in touch with someone who told him how for us to unlock our room. They told him that we should have received an email with instructions but we did not.
We stayed an a Yurt which was like glamping. It was clean and comfortable. We were provided with a nice breakfast bag for the morning. Unfortunately the shower in the shared bathroom close to our yurt wasn’t working so we had to drive to another bathroom which was inconvenient. Also the yurt we were in did not have curtains which meant people next door could see in at night and we were up early in the morning.
The place was cozy and the staff nice.
Log cabin structure, nice for this area. Check in attendant was very nice. Room is small but clean and homey.
Fabulous place in the middle of the Utah mountains.
If you dream of staying in a log cabin guest ranch, this is the real deal. Its a beautiful log cabin , set in the mountains of Utah. I really enjoyed the hotel and the staff were awesome! It is very remote, but for me, it added to the appeal. There is a restaurant on site and we had a nice meal there. The server was extremely nice.
Quiet, secluded property. Our room was small but we used the large sitting area adjacent to it. We enjoyed the absence of a TV.
The combination of rustic lodging and gourmet, on-site dining is great.
We loved the lodge and made new friends in the cozy living room. Check out was confusing as no one was there and I had a few questions and would have liked a paper receipt. I would recommend a stay there for anyone travelling in Utah..
Very environmentally friendly.
The Boulder Mountain. Lodge has so many options for guests. This is my third stay. I stayed first in a cozy yurt with a shared bathroom and shower facility, then in a comfortable lodge room and this time is a deluxe cabin with 2 bedrooms for my girlfriend and me. It was below freezing during our 2 night stay but the cabin had wonderful heaters and we were never cold!
Lodge and grounds is one of a kind. I was literally the only one there, mid Nov.so resturant was closed. Had my own food, can't wait to go back and eat as menu looks awesome. Lots of things to walk to and see/play with. Will definitely go back
Peaceful and quiet location close to Grand Staircase Escalante. We loved the lodge and the tranquility. Sunrise and sunsets filled the sky with amazing colors. It is very remote.
Wonderful, rustic hidden gem. Log cabin feel. Staff was helpful and friendly. Restaurant on premises was really good. High quality food that would compete easily against restaurants in larger cities. Farm grown food.
Would stay again
Beautiful location. Room was small but clean. Shower was small but had good pressure. We felt like we had the whole ranch to ourselves and even received a free meal with service from the chef for no reason other than it was slow and they were being friendly.
Rustic, quiet, and next to horseback riding facility.
The restaurant was great as was our first night there. The second night people directly above us very loud. No sound insulation. Maybe a thick rug? Also, their shower leaked into our bathroom so badly we were unable to use our sink or toilet in the morning. Staff very helpful and nice so hopefully that gets fixed soon.
Great experience stay
This turned out to be a great stay! We were impressed with the friendliness of the staff, the very delicious farm to table food and the wonderful work in land eco-restoration at the guest ranch. Our room was very nice and comfortable too, in rustic style. The only thing we didn't realize ahead was that breakfast has to be ordered the evening before and we arrived much too late our first night there to order - (after office was closed).
Incredibly beautiful & remote cabin w/ great staff
This place is amazing it’s our second year in a row staying here and the staff is as friendly and helpful as ever and since they were having some issues they gave us a free upgrade. The scenery, the remoteness, the beauty, the whole package is just so incredible and worth it. We will be back again! And we’re telling our friends about this place.
It was awesome it is very pet friendly we had a very relaxing time
Lovely rural Utah location close to all sorts of canyon hiking.
Good chef
Room was filthy, staff was absent much of the time, breakfast was disappointing, staircase in room was dirty and a deathtrap. Property was located far from the main road. Dinner was only available a few days a week. Would never recommend this place.
Staying in a Yurt was a novel experience.

Cool little place - like everything else in this part of the country - far off the beaten path!
