Lovely one bedroom log cabin just 6 miles from Loch Ness Museum etc Really good amenities in the cabin - washing machine, dryer, dishwasher etc Plenty of hot water Good size fridge/freezer Only thing stopping me giving 5 stars was the dust and cobwebs in the bedroom - other than that a fantastic little place
NOT A 5 STAR ACCOMMODATION
5 START - POPERTY WASNT AS LISTED NO RED CURTIANS, LEATHER SEATS, KITCHEN HOB, NO FLUFFY TOWELS AND THE CABIN COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH CLEANER COULDNT GET CAR TO THE DOOR OF THE PROPERTY WASNT BEST VALUE FOR MONEY
Liked the log cabin itself and positioned well. Wasn't the best on cleanliness but looking at the previous reviews was expecting it and even worse... Frankly it's not too bad and my review is positively good 👍
It was very dated and also was not very clean when we got there.
DISGUSTING DO NOT BOOK
Disgusting property. Booked for 2 nights but reluctantly stayed one. Filthy, full of cobwebs, bed falling apart and smelled. Cabin is completely neglected and looks derelict from outside. Slept fully clothed as bedding didn’t feel or smell clean. Absolutely awful. DO NOT STAY THERE! Disappointed that hotels.com even agree to host this place!
We were disappointed in the cleanliness and the shower was very slippy and the hand basin was unsafe plug didn’t work. The fire extinguisher was empty and being used. The tv didn’t work at all and there was dvd but nothing to play them on games and the dominoes were missing. It was dusty and uneven to walk on I found it difficult to walk on using my walking stick. I found the sofas too low for me but might be fine for others. The shower when we got it working was good and they did supply us with a bath mat for it. It would have been nice to meet someone to show you how things worked instead of finding paperwork in a drawer to read . I have to say that I was disappointed with what we got for the money we paid for it. I don’t think we would stay again.
more than we expected👌. definitely be coming back.
Not as described
No WiFi in the cabins. You have to walk down a steep shingled hill to get to WiFi.
Amazing cabins
Wonderful log cabin
What a wonderful cabin! And in a beautiful setting. Lovely and quiet. Cabin had everything we needed and a wonderful ambience. Red squirrel up the tree right opposite was magic!
View fantastic. Basic cleaning ok. Underbed large balls of dog hair and thick dust. Undercupboards ( which is open) our dog found loads of food, dog bisciuts etc. We should have been paid £15 for our dog cleaning up not charged £15. Road to cabin is treacherous and having to walk up and down it to car was dangerous and slippy. Not at all suitable for older or infirm people. This should be HIGHLIGHTED when booking glad we were only there overnight.
Good experience but could of been better
Log cabin was really nice but it wasnt the cleanest lots of cob webs (it is in the woods) plates were dirty as well. It was nice and warm
Below average stay.
The stay was just okay. Overall cleanliness of the property was very poor - very dusty, smelled of smoke even though smoking is prohibited?, Dirt marks on furniture, sofa has definitely seen better days, mattress was a really uncomfortable spring one, definitely needs replaced as we felt every spring. On a plus check in was very simple.
Beautiful setting, lovely clean accommodation
Wasn’t cleanest I felt could been cleaner. Lot cobwebs dirty windows balcony area full last year leaves, I’m aware it’s log cabin in country however I’ve been to loads . Felt this was neglected.
Excellent cabin. Very well kept. Kids loved the experience and overall very happy with the stay
Extremely disappointing stay
Stayed at black grouse, would not recommend unless owners upgrade, repair & clean the place. Left a day early after 2 nights on the most uncomfortable bed ever as well as the couch which could have been reclaimed from a tip? The shower needs replaced, kitchen hot tap needs 2 hands just to get it to stop dripping. Every wall in the place is covered in cobwebs, under the bed and units have about 20 years worth of dust hair and detritus. Wardrobes have such a strong smell it was decided not to unpack clothes and just live out our case. Also the kitchen units have the same under them as they are missing kick plates and loose fronts. Not enough utensils to use the kitchen, no stirring spoons or egg whisk etc. Curtains all badly stained & kitchen one needs rolled by hand then wedged to stay open. Whole area around reception looks like a scrap yard. When we went to find someone to report we were leaving a day early there was no one to be found in order to report that we were disappointed and leaving. Lastly dining table is sticky even after cleaning, table had stains from previous occupants and all doors & windows have faulty latches or handles. View from balcony was only good point.
Short stay
Lovely cabin in the middle of nowhere so really peaceful. Two teenagers not happy that there was no WIFI but I loved it. Very clean but lounge furniture could do with replacement. Stream right next to the cabin was great to fall asleep to.
Good place to stay
Lovely log cabin , great scenery view from cabin and lovely relaxing noise from the water running down stream
It was amazing scenery stunning good place to relax.
Stay was excellent. Communication before hand in terms of checking in/out was great (amidst Covid difficulty) and the cabin was lovely and really good value.
Nice location tranquility and green
All good, beautiful log cabins
Perfect get away!
Recently stayed 2 nights. Apart from the stunning scenic drive to get to the cabin through Loch Ness, the weather was perfect. The cabin was spotless and clear to see it is well maintained and looked after. Kitchen, shower and toilet areas were clearly relatively new. We had everything we needed and utilities all ready in the cabin. Stunning views and secluded for perfect peace and quiet. 100% will be back for a long weekend in the near future!
This property was a nice "glamping" facility, nice shower, great view of Lochness. WIFI was down at the hostile/public area so not terribly convenient, but it was a nice cabin with satellite TV and we booked at the last minute.
Wonderful cabin
Wonderful cabin and a good location close to trails and drumnadrochit.
Beautiful log cabin with some of the best views in the I've seen.
Nice cabins
Nice cabins in a great location
Great Place to stay if you have a family. The facility is a Hostel. But they have these two beautiful wood cabins on the hill. The cabins were clean. Kitchen was stocked. Although the frying pan needs to be replaced. Beds were comfortable. Pillows were fluffy. The shower was clean with good water pressure. The only cons is the washer/dryer doesn't really work. It ran for nine hours and still did not Finnish our clothes. If you want internet you have to walk down to the main chow hall of the hostel to get internet service. Overall, this was a great stay and would stay here again.
Very nice cabin
Location wasn't quite as we'd wished...the property wasn't well kept as the drive was difficult to get up and there was debris around. The cabin appeared clean, however there was a used tissue on the floor and popcorn beside the couch.l, some mold in the shower. Also, the shower remote didn't work. The cabin was very nice and the view was pretty.
Relaxing Log Cabin
Waterfall right next to bedroom, it was special and magical, calm and relaxing. Mountain sunrise view was amazing. It is a log cabin with full kitchen and two bedrooms. I have stayed in a log cabin before and seemed simular to others. Wifi is in room down hill near the hostel. Also you need to bring your own shampoo and soap( I didn't see anywhere on this site and was unaware of this.) but they do supply towels and hand towels. Loch Ness is down the street and from Cabin you can see fuzzy Scotish cows mooing right below drive way.,
Lovely unique log cabin in very good condition. Sleeps 4 comfortably
The bathroom floor had almost rotted through and my family had to be very careful where they stood so they didn't fall through the floor. Also, being that it was a log cabin having a functional fire extinguisher is fairly important. In this case it was empty and needed to be replaced or recharged.
Highly recommend the cabins. Our kids not want one! Great amenities, great service and fantastic location if you are looking for something in a quiet picturesque glen urquhart valley only 10 minutes drive from Loch Ness. Agree with some other comments that it can be confusing with the naming “bcc is one single business with different accommodation) but follow the signs on the road to bcc. Yes the drive was steep (ish) and on gravel but no issues for a 2wd in summer. Our experience was 5/5.
No close amenities .there was a funny smell in the wardrobes and stained bedding and towels.
This was advertised as a hotel as per the website but it was in fact a hostel. It’s name mimics that of a nearby log cabin ranch too, making its location difficult to locate. Check in included the property manager taking his dog on a walk and pointing us to our cabin and denying that there was another lodge by a similar name. He mentioned nothing of the check out procedure and was never present at reception during our stay. The wifi was also not working during our whole stay and was “being fixed” as per a sign at reception (also not mentioned at check in). The cabin in itself was acceptable if people are looking for a hostel style lodge on a farm like location.
Amazing place, amazing location, great stay non complaints what so ever.
The property was in a really nice and peaceful area. The cabin was just the right size. The only thing that could have been improved was to have more heaters as it was quite chilly. So maybe take some extra blankets or a electric heater if you have one!
Don’t even think about it!!!!
We stayed in the lower cabin, the location was ok, behind a hostel. The log cabin itself was impressive but the inside was tired and worn. This place needs a refurb soon. There is no where to relax in this cabin, one sofa was broken so we could not sit there, the other was so uncomfortable and small that we ended up bringing the dining chairs over to the tv to try get comfortable. When you have been out walking all day all you want is a comfortable seat to sit in, you will not get that in this cabin. The shower only had enough hot water for one person and does not look anything like the pictures. If fact the cabin itself inside does not look anything like the pictures you will see. I do not recommend this cabin at all. Don’t waste your money.
Lovely location and that’s it! Very dirty and dated interior. Disgrace for the price!

Great place for the value
We had the cabin on the top hill. Overall the place was great. Good size bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room. The views from the living room on a clear day was fantastic. You can see the valley. The only issue was the WiFi. You can not get it from the top cabin. You will have to come down the hill. It was great, and peaceful. The perfect getaway.
Lovely cabin but awful beds
This was a last minute VRBO stay for us as two couples. The log cabin is beautifully done with all the amenities in the kitchen...however....the beds were miserable for all 4 of us. With new mattresses this could be a 5*
Lovely and peaceful. Great location
We were so happy to have a self-catering stay during our 18 day trip! The cabins were awesome for space. Travelling with small children, it was necessary, and we had laundry to do! The dryer wasn’t working at all, so we had to hang clothes everywhere in the cabin. It was a bit hectic lol. Dishwasher was broken as well, and one of the patio doors had been broken into, as glass was gone right by the lock. I’m sure it was bc someone was locked out, regardless, the plastic used to cover the hole didn’t make us feel super safe. It was peaceful and the owner was very kind. Be sure to bring cash for payment, as Expedia didn’t tell us the property does not accept credit card. We had to drive into town to get money.
Family break away in a real log cabin
We stayed here when passing through for one night. It's a beautiful real log cabin, just needs a little TLC!
Bedding and towels clean but rest of cabin requires a deep clean especially shower. Plenty more f hot water. Tiny fridge and bits missing from door shelf. Even though not as expected made the most of stay as in a great location. No wi-fi in log cabin but could go down to hostel kitchen to get wi-fi but no dogs allowed therefore did not go as our dog is family.
Could be amazing....
Travelling as a family with two small children. The pots and pans were greasy and needed cleaned before we could use them. There was mould in the dishwasher so we couldn't use that. There was mould in the shower. In the middle of my shower the water went stone cold (whilst I had shampoo in my hair and no one around to get help from). There was a used cigarette but under the bunk bed in the children's room which they found whilst hiding under the bed. As we have small children the evenings were spent in the cabin. The DVD player that was advertised wasn't there. When we phoned to ask if we can get one we were just told no they have replaced it before and will not be again. A small thing but in a cabin in the middle of nowhere it's something that we planned on using (they even provided a few dvds which is ironic),we eneded up buying our own and taking it home. Such a shame as beautiful cabins in a beautiful place just a shame care is not taken of them. We would have definately stayed here again if they had been clean and the facilities advertised were there.
Cabins of peace.
Great littl place although can be tricky to find. Sits behind a hostel building up a hill. Great cabin, very clean. Tv with free view (a DVD player would be good) good size living room with a heater. Don't expect to be hot in here during winter. Good size kitchen with plates etc. Great shower in the bathroom. Two good size bedrooms, one with bunk beds which could sleep an adult. So peaceful during the evening apart from the waterfall that runs alongside the cabin. Nice enough noise to listen to unless you have a small bladder. Parking was fine. It's not a long walk at all.. Good idea is to use the Tesco in town and get items for dinner. Small fridge with a tiny ice box but if you go in winter it's colder outside, so we put our drinks out on the balcony.
Lovely cabin
We recently had a two night stay at this cabin and my husband was very taken with it. Location was secluded and involves a short drive up a steep muddy single track but our car managed well - we couldn’t park right at the cabin though as the car wouldn’t have handled it, so we had to walk the rest of the way. Not a big deal, but it was dark, raining and muddy. Just something to bear in mind. We had a wonderful stay - facilities were great and staff were very helpful. The cabin is lovely and warm and has everything you need and the views from the veranda were lovely during the day. It’s very clean though there were a number of cobwebs around. - unavoidable due to the location - and the settee could do with replacing. I honestly can’t say anything bad about the place other than these very small quibbles. We hope to return soon. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Stunning log cabin. Perfect setting.
Gorgeous log cabin; facilities great. Bit far out from any amenities (approx 6 miles to nearest shop). Difficult to find but well worth it when you do. Also were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights. Beautifully breath-taking❤

This property is beautiful and well kept, the owner sent all access info in advance and when we arrived the property was clean warm and stocked with essentials. This was our second stay at the log cabins and we will DEFINITELY come back again.
