beautiful hotel, excellent rooms and quality food and beverages.
Ok
Nice and peaceful. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
I've stayed 4 times at this hotel now. So I guess I really like it! It's really convenient to Tenerife South airport (22 euros taxi). That does mean the planes fly overhead, but they never bothered us. The hotel is nice and it's big (it takes a while to work out how to get around!), Its on a slope - so some walking up and down steps/ramps required. Rooms are really large and very quiet. Bathrooms have a bath. The all-inclusive is great. Food in the dining room is a buffet and there's always lots of choice. Staff are nice. We like the numerous pools. There is various entertainment. For us it's a very easy hotel to just go and chill and get some winter sun. It is a little shabby around the edges, but taking everything into consideration, for the price, it's great. I can't comment on the area outside, as we never stepped foot outside, as were just there to rest and recharge batteries, for which its perfect!
4 night stay
I must admit l had a very enjoyable stay meals and entertainment was top notch. The only draw back was if you are a little infirm ,short of breath and find stairs a little overwhelmed this hotel is not for you . They have designed ramps to combat this problem as the hotel as it is built on an incline say that the facilities are of a five star hotel
Winter sun
Gorgeous hotel and the staff couldn't do enough. Amazing food, so much choice. Clean rooms and even surprised me with fizz and cake on my Birthday. The only downside was getting around the hotel. Easy to get lost as lot's of corridors and lot's of steps for those with young children or people with mobility issues
Quiet and good location
Beautiful hotel, excellent food and great staff. We had a great time and would stay again.
This is a beautiful property, truly an oasis on the coast. However, the services did not match the price. Our first receptionist was so lovely, welcoming and kind. While the others dismissed us and our concerns on multiple occasions. They put the onus on the client to reserve taxis and airport transfers. There is little communication between the guest and the staff, unless you as the guest go asking questions. In other hotels I’ve stayed before they offer services such as a wake up call, reminders of checkout services, replenishment of water and refreshments in the room. While this is a stunning property our experience was tainted by the staff’s lack of communication and overall disorganization. They tried to charge us twice for an all inclusive package and thankfully we kept the receipt if not they would have made us pay again. At other barcelo’s the entertainment is top tier, this was just sad. There was no readily accessible itinerary of entertainment or communication of changes to the program. There was an other lack of enthusiasm to serve guests, and having gone on this trip as a Christmas present, this was disappointing. This hotel requires a lot of walking, so if you’re not into that it might not be the place for you.
Our 4th visit here. Will come again.
My room wasn't ready when i got there (early so understandable) but they didnt call me like they said they would when it was ready. You had to download an app that didnt work for things like room service. The bathroom had many ants. The design of the hotel amplifies sound so i could perfectly hear the argument the british honeymooners on the otherside of the hotel were having for hours. The onsite buffet is only ok. They guard towels like they are made of gold. There is nothing really within walking distance and it is a pain to get cabs to go elsewhere. Nothing about this was 5 stars. Stay at the Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife or Green Garden Resort instead.
Best hotel!
Amazing in everyway! This was our second time in Barcelo Tenerife and it was just as amazing as last time. Will for sure come back. Amazing resort, amazing staff, amazing food, amazing pools, beautiful design.
Great all inclusive.
We have rated this 3/5 overall as in the evenings the bars were closed even though the Barcello app would show them as open, with the exception of the inside bars that had entertainment on. The staff let it slip they starting doing this to ensure the entertainment had as many people there as possible. The could have used the outside stage or kept two staff in the outside bar for those of us that wanted to be outside in the warm weather. We ended up going out instead. Massive shame as this is not how it was managed when it was Sandos San Blas. We wouldnt come back.
It was surely a nice hotel when it was built, now it needs a little renovation, the rooms are a bit dated, overall it’s not a 5 stars, likely a 4… The food in the buffet is good but a little cold, the pools are very clean but the water in november is really cold. Staff is great
Excellent hotel, staff and facilities
The excellence in services
Property is very clean but very big
Nice staff
Pre check in app did not work and check in slow
Do not stay here. The property looks nice on the outside, but the rooms have signs of bed bugs, the staff is unpleasant, and the rooms need updating. Upon check-in, I looked for signs of bed bugs, as I do on every stay, and I found shells in the bed. I alerted the person on staff, but since it was 11:00 pm, I just stayed in my friend's room who had no signs of bed bugs. They offered to switch me, but I did not want to leave my friend in another area of the resort as it was just the two of us. The next morning, we went and spoke to the manager. He had housekeeping come and inspect the bed and I also took my own pictures. Housekeeping came in and when I showed her the shells of the bugs she just said they were dirt flicked them off the bed to the ground and called the other house keeper to change the sheets. Then she began speaking in Spanish with the other housekeeper saying the bed was just a little dirty and she just needed clean sheets. I told her I knew Spanish and started to respond in Spanish, and the other housekeeper said to the inspecting one, lets use English 'cause she understands. While this happened, I texted the manager photos of the bed bug shells. The manager ignored my pictures and said the housekeeper saw no signs of bugs, and he went and saw nothing. They changed my room but did not compensate me for the room I did not sleep in the one night. The staff and the room were both nasty.
Really friendly and helpful staff. Good distance from the airport.
Ok
Excellent property. Excellent service and staff very nice and helpful. Leisure activities and night shows are very fantastic. Room is big and spacious. Highly recommended to stay here.
It’s a very clean hotel, amazing cocktails and friendly staff.
Great hotel! Would definitely book again
Recently stayed at this hotel for 4 days celebrating a special birthday as a girls holiday and overall we were impressed, the facilities that we visited frequently (pool and bar!) were indeed 5* including being spoilt with some impressive live singing and dancers during the day. Victoria was absolutely amazing and could not have done enough for us, thank you Victoria. The al a carte restaurant was amazing and the staff were indeed 5*, as well as the cocktail & coffee making We couldn’t fault the location with it only being 15mins away from the airport and little further away from Los Christianos & Playa Da Américas We did come across some negatives, the rooms were big and spacious but the service let us down, the tea/coffee station was not refilled on a daily basis even after we asked reception. We ordered an iron which took 4 phone calls and still didn’t arrive after 50mins. The hotel boasts about being 5* but we found all the bars closed at 12am, even though it was advertised 2:30am We were on a girls holiday and were told to keep the noise down on several occasions, given our trip was out of school holidays there was little risk of disturbing children. Probably the most disturbing experience was the courtesy room, where we could shower and change after check out, being 5* we expected basic amenities, such as towels, which were not provided, the smell and basis hygiene of the area was quite disturbing.
Nice property, good selection of outdoor pools. Good buffet. Nice staff. Room was a good size, decent cleanliness but quite a few things that needed fixing (some of which were fixed over the course of our stay). Bed hadn’t been made up as a double as requested and took a long time to rectify.
This hotel would be perfect if just wanted to sunbathe and not go anywhere as there is very little to do around the property so it’s quite isolated. However the hotel is lovely the staff are great and the food very good
Booking here was a mistake - this resort caters to millennials with children and is not particularly friendly to late career adults. No dining that wasn’t an IKEA style buffet. Happily, it was a short stay enroute to another destination. We won’t be back - tourists are generally unwelcome here in our experience.
Great resort
Great resort, friendly staff, excellent food, comfortable bed
Birthday trip March 2024 We stayed 4 nights at the Barceló Tenerife hotel for my husbands early birthday trip The hotel is only 15 mins from airport The checkin was really quick as we checked in online before arrival The staff at reception were really nice we had the standard room which was very spacious and with balcony area which was lovely rooms were cleaned every day the heated pool was amazing just by the bar area We were all inclusive Drinks were all original and not watered down. Bar staff were really nice the food was really good with plenty of options to choose from my husband and I would like to say a very big thank you to all the staff for making our stay so wonderful and we will definitely returning again.
Good location and nice staff. Hotel is getting a bit dated. Not a 5 star but a 4 star. We took the breakfast and dinner package. Breakfast was repetitive but fine. We decided to dine out at the local restaurants as the buffet had no ambiance. Not even any music. We would stay again but not take the dinner package.
Stunning hotel can not fault anything
Beautifully designed hotel with lovely planting of local flowers and shrubs. Rooms comfortable with good views from the balcony. Great swimming pools and marvellous location next to the sea. Restaurants served good food with lots of choice. Staff invariably friendly. Amusing and entertaining evening shows. One or two concerns: our beds were on wheels which tended to move around despite the brakes being on. Annoying drilling noise by the adult pool while some kind of repair work was being done. Overall a very enjoyable stay.
Nice hotel - not ideal for disable people
Nice hotel near to the airport and the main resorts - only downside it was set on a hill. The entrance was at the top of the hill with the rooms cascading down each side of the pools to the main buffet restaurant at the bottom of the hill Which meant a lot of walking from one end to another (we had a car) which was parked at the top There are lifts but not directly to the buffet restaurant and not in each block - so we had to walk to the next block (away from the restaurant) to get a lift and then had to walk down the ramp ways to to the buffet Not easy to work out where best to go… We had to eat late as the entertainment was next to the restaurant- outside (take a jumper) so that we didn’t have to keep walking backwards and forwards to the room.. There are no disable parking spaces (made into electrical points) so it’s on a first come basis…if you can get a space. There was a buggy to help people around - it was a two seater that they crammed three people into - we only used it once as it wasn’t safe… On other point the food was just ok…if you went later in the evening then some of the main items had finished…like the joints of meat…there wasn’t enough staff to cope with the numbers and we where left waiting for drinks - felt really sorry for them…..
Great place to stay.
Great staff in every department. Good variety of food. Comfortable spacious rooms. Nice places to walk by the see. Safe pathways.
Really lovely hotel. Everywhere was very clean and all staff were happy to help and couldn’t do enough for you. The food was all very nice with a good selection to choose from. The room was spacious and the bed was so comfortable and very large! Only negative I can think of is that the pool was freezing to the point no one was in it. Overall though it was a really good holiday and would definitely reccomend.
It was lovely but the breakfast let it down, everything was stone cold the only good thing was the fresh orange juice, we have been to barcelo in fuerterventura and it's far superior.
The buffet food was good, but the desserts were amazing! I am still thinking about that wonderful mango mousse! The walking path next to the ocean was fantastic and went for miles! Very convenient to get to hotel via taxi.
Everyone was really friendly, welcoming and helpful. Lots of activities at the hotel and lots of adventures beyond!
The property is beautiful! So close to the airport, very convenient! The staff is incredible and made our stay even more enjoyable. The all inclusive included incredible food, fun activities, and so many different pools to enjoy.
.
Nice for a few days away with friends
Nice hotel right on the seafront, with lots of space. We met with some friends for a couple of days who were there for a golf break for 2 weeks. The food was ok, although a bit repetitive (we upgraded to AI). The staff were all pleasant and helpful. The room was nice and clean, and ours was in a very quiet location on the 1st floor, more or less behind the Breeze bar that closes at 6pm. Would happily stay again, but just for a few days.
Great location for a quiet all inclusive getaway
We had a fabulous holiday. The hotel , food, facilities, activities and staff all excellent.
Just excellent! Everything was perfect.
Fab staff, very clean & comfortable
Would stay again
One of the best 5 star hotel and great buffet for breakfast. Nice pools and area. The stuff were so friendly. We enjoyed the time in our beautiful room for our anniversary
The pool was great
What a great hotel and staff. Food, drink everything was perfect. The pools were fantastic. Perfect for a relaxing and peaceful vacation.
Really good hotel with good food and lots of pools. It felt safe and quiet for my family. It wasn't crowded, but there were plenty of other families there. The staff were very nice and happy to help with any query. It was very easy to rent a car thanks to reception and get around, parking at the hotel was free too. I found out on arrival there are multiple levels of all inclusive (AI, AI and Royal), honestly the AI level was plenty enough for us, no shortage of food and drinks for the family. The only reasons not to give it 5 stars are the kids clubs were only really suited to my younger daughter (age 5) and there wasn't much there for my older daughter (age 10). There are no onsite self serve laundry facilities, but found a laundrette nearby. Overall it was a really good hotel and would go again.
We absolutely loved our stay. The all inclusive package needs to be a little clearer and wasn’t fully available to what was explained. Laundry isn’t included and is expensive
We stayed at the hotel with my adult daughter. We were looking for a quiet and safe place and the hotel was exactly that. The staff was very helpful and tried to accommodate all our needs. The hotel itself is really nice although it would benefit from easier access signage to certain areas. We were constantly lost inside the building and felt like we walked miles in a maze before finding places. There was a wide variety of food. We had a half board with breakfast and dinner, however no drinks included with it, not even water or a coffee . We rented a car and the hotel provided us with free parking which was great. Pools were great, many to choose from. Good entertainment in the evenings for children and adults. Overall we had a great time staying at the resort and would recommend it to everyone who’s interested in more relaxing and peaceful holiday.
Hotel was a base while we visited family. While there we couldn’t ask for more. Location of the hotel is quite isolated, ok for an able bodied person. Not so easy if you are in a wheelchair.
Great facilities, great service, food was mostly good but quality varied each day. Enjoyed a relaxed week at the resort, in the sun by the pool with drinks constantly flowing
Great break with friends
This resort was great! Clean and comfortable, friendly, kind and efficient staff, from Reception to bars/restaurants, and cleaning too. Bed extremely comfortable and room facilities spot-on (the welcome wine and chocolate was a lovely surprise). We ate in the buffet restaurant most days - the variety and quality of the food was great, with options for "cook to order" at each meal. The only downside, as you'd expect with a buffet, the food wasn't always hot enough, but it wasn't a deal breaker. Good variety of drinks and much better wine than we'd expected for a house offering. Probably very hectic in high season, but great when we went end May.
Quality product with great staff. Lovely room with fabulous view and terrace. Good atmosphere. All inclusive really was all inclusive other than the odd brand of drink which didnt matter. I'd love to go back.
Disappointed
Excellent hotel. Food service all good however our room was not cleaned to their usual standard. No bed changed, no floors moped, no glassses or tea cups washed or changed. Disappointing as we have been on numerous occasions and always been top class.
Great hotel with friendly staff. Pool area was really beautiful, enough sun beds for everyone. I could have done without the pool entertainment which happened once a week but they did put lots of effort into it
Loved the hotel (although it is a bit of a maze and it takes a while to find your way around it!). Enjoyed the all inclusive. Food was good. Nice bars. Room big and really lovely to have a hotel room with a bath. Very big balcony (although would have liked sun lounger on it). Hotel was quiet, even though it was quite full with guests. The planes fly quite low overhead, but that never bothered us at all. The location, close to the airport, is a real bonus as the taxi ride was only 16 euros and very quick. Overall, a really nice hotel and would recommend
If you're looking for an all-inclusive, you'll be delighted. But if you're looking for a place to go in town and get mix with the local you'll be disappointed (go to Los Christianos instead)
had a connecting room. one of the rooms was very dark and didn't get any sun.
Amazing hotel with friendly staff and overall great location stay!
January 2023 in - Hotel Barcelo Tenerife
Our Room was very nice, very clean & fresh. Everything had to b reserved by App. I didn't like the policy for Lunch in Breeze - the Waiter said we cud c the Menu on the Scan gadget!! Also when we asked where we shud go for Breakfast - Phew! We were very surprised that we had to walk 750m each way every morning!! Same applied to Dinner!!The Breakfast was excellent but the Dinners were very disappointing. We were happy to play Tennis. It was quite windy. During the day there is a constant stream of planes coming in to land at adjacent airport. There were local Buses available to Los Christianos & Las Americas. Too late when we discovered this!!
Really liked the hotel. It was better than I was expecting. Food was a buffet and was good. All inclusive was great and a nice selection of alcoholic drinks. Staff were very nice. Room was great and big, with two very large single beds and a really nice big balcony. I was travelling alone and felt safe in the hotel. There was a courtesy lounge that guests can use to shower if they stay after checking out of their room on the final day. One of the big benefits is that it's so close to the airport (taxi was 18 euros). The planes do fly close to the hotel, but that didn't bother me. The hotel had a few niggly maintenance issues (and was looking a fraction tired in places). It would have been nice if there was an indoor pool with sauna and jacuzzi. There's a lovely boardwalk walk outside the hotel and a small (rocky) beach. Overall a great stay and I would go back.
Stunning property & the most friendly helpful staff. The Dolce Vita restaurant was fabulous.
Pleasant stay
We had stayed here before when this was Sandos San Blas and I think the hotel was newer then so it is beginning to look a little tired. Probably more of a 4 star hotel really but very pleasant.
The property is beautiful. Rooms are nice and clean. The buffet food is good, but definitely does not inspire you to go back for more. We are at the al a carte restaurant and it was better as you would expect. The ‘lake’ is pretty disappointing and the water did not look very clean. The entertainment every night was okay. The water classes were excellent (boxing and cycling!). Sports facilities looked great, but the weight room was a mess and some of the machines were missing pins and had frayed wires (dangerous). We had a car so parking was great, but navigating the roads in and out of the hotel to get to other areas was tricky. Worst thing - the flies! You could not eat in the main restaurant without swarms of flies attacking your body and food. Every meal, every day. At one point I took a picture of a plate of food with ten flies. Amazing cheese selection, but when you try to take a piece for your plate at least twenty flies get off the plate. Not appealing at all and pretty surprising for so such a world class facility. We won’t go back.
It had everything you needed and close to everything. A very nice resort
We both really enjoyed our stay at Barcelo. Gracias!
Birthday treat
All first class. Staff very helpful and friendly nothing too much trouble. Stayed a number of times and will definitely be back. Lovely touch for my birthday bottle of cava and a cake. Thank you.
Great hotel
Fantastic short break. The 2 outstanding features of this hotel were the staff and the quality of the food. By far the best All Inclusive we have experienced. The hotel is in a lovely location but you would benefit from a car to see/do more. If you have limited mobility, you need to consider the way the hotel is set out. There are ramps but the most direct option from bottom to top are some steep steps.
Best homebase for Tenerife!
Man, we lucked out with this place. First of all, they were very cool (along with hotels.com) about adjusting our stay last second when our flights were changed. Then the room was huge and comfortable for a decent price. The service was top notch, and we looked forward to the delicious breakfast every morning. The saltwater pool was wonderful, and the activities throughout the day were actually pretty fun. Easy walking to some good food spots, and easy driving to some nice beaches. The perfect base from which to explore the island. Top notch service the whole time.
Gorgeous hotel full of entertainment
Gorgeous hotel full of helpful staff. There was entertainment in the theatre every night and lots of activities to join in throughout our stay. Also plenty of sunbeds available around the resort.
The hotel was lovely and relaxing however it wasn’t 5 stars. The property felt outdated. Upon arrival our room had dust balls towards the front. The quality of food at the restaurant was fine but we often found the food cold when it should have been hot. The staff were nice and helpful but at times felt like we were interrupting their day. Plus I had to remind the hotel about our VIP experience although we didn’t get it all. Overall it was nice and we enjoyed our stay.
Our stay was very pleasant in the hotel. The hotel itself, facilities, service we would highly rate! I’d go back definitely!
This hotel was fantastic, could not fault anything. Food was amazing lots of choice, lovely bedroom, huge bed, staff were all attentive and friendly. Entertainment was good in the evenings and during the day around the pool too.
We had a great time and the property was clean and beautiful. I also appreciated the several pools. The only negative was that the pools were ice cold. One was “heated” or warmer so most of the guests Congregated at that one pool. Suggestion-gluten free bread area at lunch And Dinner like what was available at breakfast which was great. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!
Grate amenities.
It was a calm environment
Last minute solo trip.
Just back from a couple of days away, solo. The hotel was impeccably clean all over. The room, which was a partial sea view was lovely (room 035). Everything in the room was great, but could’ve done with a few more sachets of coffee for the morning. My deal had breakfast included and there was a great range of food, buffet style, however, the cooked breakfast was a little cold. Other than that I have no negatives. As a solo female traveller I sometimes worry about being too far from reception, and room 035 couldn’t have been further away from the reception (and the hotel is HUGE) but I felt safe all the time. The staff were very all friendly and were happy to assist with booking a taxi back to the airport for me. Special shout out to the porter (whose name I didn’t manage to catch, sorry) that gave me recommendations of restaurants to go to. It’s a short walk to the little marina village with plenty to choose from food wise.
Great staff , lovely food
The staff are exceptional, friendly very helpful and can’t do enough to make the holiday a great experience, every member of staff from cleaners , bar and restaurant staff etc without exception were wonderful. Food had plenty of choice and the quality was very good, we will be rebooking for later in the year. Can’t recommend this hotel and it’s staff enough
Great Choice For Nature and Friendly Staff
Great location and eco-friendly amenities. The food at the restaurant was "so so" but the all inclusive is still worth it. Staff are friendly and appreciated efforts for safety with masks and physical distancing. Appreciated the room but wish there were USB ports to make it easy to charge US-based appliances and also the TV should have set up with phone or other devices. Paid extra for a "partial sea view" and it was worth it. Only one of the heated pools was working and wasn't sure (should have asked) about the biking situation. But if you want relaxation and easy access to nature (beach, lake for kayaking and hiking) then this is a great choice!
Great Location and Friendly Staff
Nice hotel, beds are misleading in photos as North American quality mattresses but they will help you out if they are too hard which is common in Europe and Asia. Equality to solo travelers is still difficult to receive. But, very friendly staff and ready to accommodate as best they can. Kind and pleasant. Breakfast really needs some work, however. While there is variety it’s not super fresh and I had upset stomach every time I decided to eat it. It didn’t seem to matter how I changed things up in choices of food. Glad I didn’t purchase all inclusive meals.
Take your own toilet tissue
Definitely not 5 star. Would sugest supplying your own toilet tissue,as their Idea of being environmentally friendly is to supply recycled paper, not pleasant.
Amazing
Excellent. Attentive staff. Amazing pools. Food was above average and plentiful. Will definitely return.
Lovely hotel
Really lovely hotel, very impressed!
Very average, badly managed hotel
This hotel is now a tired reflection of what it used to be when owned by Santos. Some of the staff were great, but some were actually argumentative. It could be cleaner, there is no attention to detail, there are so many things that could be fixed cheaply with good management (an example would be the music on TV in the bar is mostly rapping type music with inappropriate videos which is ridiculous for their clientele, it's like the staff do their best but aren't trained or well led. on the bright side the food was very good. But again a tray with dirty plates sat on the counter outside for 2 days, i noticed this, why didn't any of the management.
Amazing place for a getaway
Had an amazing stay at Barceló Tenerife. Would love to go back again. Staff (front desk) were SUPER friendly and helpful. Didnt have a great time at the wellness centre...our 1 hour massages were inexplicably cut off at 45 mins (charged for full hour though!) Would have formally complained but didnt as it does not reflect on the overall service of the hotel....so would recommend not getting a massage but everything else was fantastic!
Needs updating
We only had a one night stay at this hotel as we had been holidaying much further down the coast and we had a very early flight the following day and wanted to be near the airport. We had been upgraded from a double room to a suite and was very pleased about that. Unfortunately the suite was very dark tired looking and in need of updating to say the least. The air conditioning was useless so we ended up leaving the balcony doors open to circulate some cool air as it was stifling. The whole complex looks like it needs to be updated. The swimming pools were excellent and the buffet dinner was very good. Very close to the airport too.
Very nice
Very nice hotel, a little mix up on check in as I thought I Pre paid .. and the reception was a little put out when I tried to explain this...
Brilliant friendly staff Great Food Carefullly thought through ideas and programmes Adults Only Area All inclusive worked exceptionally well - not just cheap stuff
5* excellence
Quality quantity excellent wonderful amazing awesome and epic are only some of the adjectives I’m using to describe this place, let’s just say I’m going back in June!!
The whole property was kept extremely clean and the staff were very helpful, professional & helpful
Hotel is dated, furnishings where tired, not 5 star pool areas require maintance , food quality average.
The staff where very good, the food ok, but the property was to big for us, would hate to be there in high season
really friendly staff nothing was a problem to them
Barceló Tenerife | Hotel in San Miguel de Abona | Travala.com
We felt all the facilities were excellent and the Staff were always friendly, helpful and respectful. The choice and quality of food could not have been better. The accommodation for guests was superb; beds were very comfortable and it was good to have a bath as well as a shower.
