Great property. Great pool. Great location.

Fantastic hotel!!!

This is our second stay at a Barcelò hotel and a second excellent trip. We had an excellent stay at the Umbria Mar! The view from our terrace was an outstanding see view with plenty of space to move around. Although the bathroom area could be updated, the whole room was very spacious and the bed incredibly comfortable. All the amenities were spot on with a good size swimming pool, the most number of sunbeds I have ever seen at an hotel and the staff were incredible. Plenty of entertainment without it being pushy or over the top. As this is predominately a Spanish clientele hotel, it was very chilled out, a lot of talking and no loutish behaviour. We received a fantastic surprise from the hotel, with a birthday cake for my partner left in our room and a happy birthday message by email. Great touch and very much appreciated. Will be returning again as we loved staying here so much.

Disappointed that the is no kettle or in room tea and coffee. Directions to room confusing, hotel needs a route map, especially when disability access is required.

Amazing stay, we’re an English couple with Spanish family in the area, nothing was to much trouble, Luis in the restaurant was always so helpful, all staff very happy and always ready to help..😍

Beautiful discovery

Barcelona hotels are always a favourite for us. The staff are brilliant. The service/ food choices/amenities/ entertainment programmes were just what we needed on an extended road trip.We enjoyed the lovely relaxed atmosphere at the hotel as well as its positioning in such a beautiful part of Spain. We will definitely return to this beautiful gem.

Excellent for Family Vacation

Very nice resort, with direct beach access, very friendly and helpful staff, excellent buffet for breakfast. We had a room towards the west, overlooking the pine trees, and delightful sunset every evening.

Lovely Hotel

Lovely hotel - right on beach. Beautiful rooms and grounds - great pool - great food. Bar prices for soft drinks a little on expensive side.

Excellent weekend spent with family cannot fault anything from the moment we arrived to leaving. Staff were very friendly and helpful, hotel and rooms clean and tidy. The standard of food at all meals was great, choices for everyone. Great quiet location next to a stunning beach, other friends not staying there were impressed.

3 Nights Stay - great staff, nice room

The good.... Excellent hotel. Very clean & comfortable rooms. High quality mattress on the beds. Staff were incredibly helpful. Could improve.... Parking was not free. Paid around 18€ for 72hrs i think. The ticket system for getting in/out was a pain. Cleaner entered & cleaned the room, despite me “fixing” the “no thanks” hanger firmly on the door. This always annoys me & makes me worry that something will be missing. I simply don’t like to pack everything away, so i keep my room clean at all times....if it needs cleaning, i put out the “please clean me” hanger! It’s simple, NO THANKYOU, means exactly that...not COME ON IN. No iron in room. No tea/coffee making set in room. No visible way of getting a coffee without paying.

Most definitely a family friendly atmosphere. The food is amazing and being on the beachfront is priceless. Highly recommend!

Good standard of room and service

The location is great and the hotel is clean and very well run. Staff are helpful if required. The views from some rooms leave a lot to be desired so be careful to book the room you want. Changing room can be expensive if not impossible as it’s a very busy place. A car park view is not what you expect!

The free breakfast was very tasty. Our view from our room was nice. We had the double seaview room. It was very spacious. This was the only hotel we'ved stayed in with a kettle. It is right on the beach. 30 minute drive from Benagil caves. Highly recommend. Would stay here again.

March family break

We spent a lovely couple of days here in early March. Beautiful beach, lovely hotel complex, buffet very good, good service. Only downside was no entertainment as off season. Hotel was very quiet, so for example there was no kids club during the week.

Great couples stay - Grand buffet

The resort was great, right on the beach. Perfect for families with small kids, as there were lots of entertainment. Good food and fair price. Overwhelming breakfast, fresh juice, pancakes, fresh melons, etc. Although a bit distant from city center and local shopping, this was a great experience. Would definitely come back.

Friendly hotel

Met with friends who were on a two centre holiday. Very friendly staff, very clean. Disappointed with a fee for parking at this time of year.

Single traveller - the hotel is ideally positioned

great location. Right by very good sandy beach. Staff didn't necessarily endear themselves on first contact on day one but over the course of the stay staff were very helpful

We had a lovely stay. The place is very relaxing and near the sea which is what we wanted. Food great

Great, large hotel. Room could have been cleaner and the gym hours were very restricted which was frustrating but overall a good experience. Also felt quite silly to be charged for parking in a municipality that is largely empty in that area. Would go again but seek to maximize benefits to costs

Hotel claims to be 4 star but acts like a zero

Not much happening in November in Punta Umbria except a beautiful deserted beach and warm sunny days. Based on the attitude of the staff at the Barcelo, it is not surprising that there were very few guests staying at the hotel. We had booked a superior room; reception staff assigned us a room with a 'basement' style window facing the hotel entrance. We noted that the hotel had rooms with terraces, rooms facing the street, the pool and the beach - most of which were not occupied; staff announced that the hotel believes that 'superior' means basic with a window one could not see out of. The hotel seems to be managed with a 'no need to consider the guest' philosophy. No information on amenities or activities; no acknowledgement or appreciation - twice the staff ignored guests standing in front of them, in favour of a ringing phone caller. With its parking lot empty, the hotel sent guests to park off-site. We would not go back.

Very rude staff and everything was an effort. You would think you were the staff and they the guests. Disappointing in every aspect

Very large hotel and well situated for the beach

The only problem with this hotel and it's a big one is that the walls to the rooms are paper thin meaning there is a great deal of noise pollution

Absolute wrong parking administration which is now been subcontracted to a different company and run as a parking rather then a hotel service.

not quite what I booked

I book a superior triple through expedia for two people. I and a colleague were going to the region to work and thought to share a room to save on costs. However to make it comfortable we decided to book a triple rather r=than a double room. The hotel staff then gave us a double because we were only two people they said. I complained saying we had booked a triple and they said where is the third person. They then called expedia, pointlessly and I spent half an hour going foreman person to the other before the line cut. After an hour another room, just the same size but with a small table was offered next to a children';s play area. In the end we stayed in the double room and just pulled the beds apart ourselves. The lesson seems to be that even if a triple room is offered in the website pull-down menu to purchase, you are as well to pay for a double as that is all you will get if only two people turn up. Otherwise the hotel was pretty good and the location terrific.

Not up to Parador standard

The room was a disappointment as there was a strong smell of stale tobacco.The staff were very helpful across the board ,however,as regards the room we decided not to change as we were there one night only and by leaving the windows open throughout the day managed to reduce the smell. The food was mediocre although ther was plenty to choose from. The hotel ,generally , was clean and tidy.

Family Friendly

The hotel was more dated than the pictures showed when I booked it. It is a beautiful setting, but not much to do. It is perfect for families with young children. Even at 11:30 at night there were a lot of little kids running through the bar and dance floor. Not much for teenagers to do. There were a lot of activities listed, but they were monopolized by unsupervised 3-5 year olds.

Why not wifi?

The positive: included meals were buffet, and very enjoyable. The indoor pool is small but warm and pleasant. And the beach goes on forever. Negatives: I have to downgrade amenities at any hotel in this price range that doesn't include free in-room wifi, however. Like many upscale hotels, this one has a 24 hour plan which doesn't come cheap, or one can use their computers (also for a fee), or use the lobby where the wifi is free.

A VERY PLEASANT STAY

We had a terriffic week in Punta Umbria. Superb beaches, easy access to Huelva, Sevilla and Portugal. Great days out at Ayamonte and Donana National Park. Room was great, service was great. Food was as good as you would expect in a buffet. Half board was cheaper than B&B in any of the less splendid places we looked at. Staff very friendly, most speak some English. Juan on reception was a great help in booking trips.

Beautiful

This was my second stay at the Barcelo Punta Umbria. It is a beautiful hotel with a very good beach and pine woods. Nearby there are many good little restaurants with good prices and fresh fish. My only problem is that the hotel controls the air conditioning system in such a way that you are usually hot in your room.

Estancia perfecta, bufet variado, el hotel está muy bien y el personal es encantador, repetiremos sin duda.

La habitación se limpiaba poco, hacían la cama, cambiaban toallas pero el suelo no lo limpiaron en los 4 días que estuvimos.

Boa opção perto de Portugal

Hotel lindo em estilo espanhol. Excelente localização, roupas de cama e banho de boa qualidade, café da manhã muito variado. Pouca variedade no bar da piscina, estacionamento pago -12€dia - sauna paga… a maioria dos serviços são pagos à parte!

En general, me gustó mucho el Hotel. Punto a mejorar, que en la media pensión se incluya cuando menos el agua y que no la cobren.

Hôtel très beau, qui se fond dans le cadre naturel, bien qu’un peu vieillot. Qualité du buffet moyenne.

Alguna mañana me despertaron losnruidos deblas maletas rodando n por baldosas llagueadas. Precioso suelo, pero ruidoso como él solo.

Muy bien situado junto a la playa, buenas instalaciones, el buffet es bastante variado. La limpieza de la habitación es aceptable.

Liegt sehr schön am Strand - das Parksystem ist ein Witz!

Me gustó la variada y calidad de la gastronomía. Las almohadas y el colchón. La limpieza del baño no estuvo a la altura del hotel.

Hotel con una ubicación de lujo

Mala atención en terraza

En general, muy bien, pero hubo un detalle que pudo mejorarse. La noche del 2 de agosto nos negaron servirnos una copa en la terraza junto a la piscina porque ya habían pasado 3 minutos de las 12 de la noche, pese a que llevábamos esperando más de 15 minutos sin que ningún camarero se acercara a preguntar si queríamos tomar algo. Se preguntó a la responsable de la terraza y volvió a negar servir nada. El personal estaba más preocupado de terminar de recoger la terraza que de atender a los clientes. Esos detalles no se pueden permitir en un hotel de esa categoría.

El sitio es espectacular, en la misma playa. Buena comida y buen servicio. El personal muy amable. Las actuaciones por las noches, menos una nos gustaron todas.

El hotel bien pero la comida de poca calidad, el desayuno con mucho producto prefabricado,dulces, fiambres, mermeladas de baja calidad para ser un 4 estrella, he tenido desayunos mucho mejores en hoteles de 3 estrellas

Make sure you don’t get room 140!!!

Service from service desk was horrific. We asked to be moved as our room was very noisy due to the staff leaving and entering the premises via the back door next to our room, and that we were placed by the staff parking lot. Our request was met by a very impolite man who said we got what we payed for (302 Euros for 3 nights off season) and if we wanted to move we’d have to pay more money. The hotel wasn’t even half full! Food was varied and good and the scenery beautiful.

Fint rom med havutsikt. Men, dårlig rengjøring av gulv, finkornet sand. Fint område ved basseng. Frokost: ryddet ikke av bordet etterhvert. Middag buffé: Satte bare vinflasken på bordet, ingen prøvesmaking, null oppfølging. Elendig/fraværende rydding av bordet!

Todo ha estado uy bien

Estuvimos en familia un fin de semana a media pensión. El hotel está bien no es nada del otro pero bien, el servicio completo y amables nos permitieron cambiar la cena por la comida, respecto al desayuno bastante bien me gustó mucho completo y fresco, no puedo decir lo mismo de la comida que apenas había variedad y calidad... Lo que más me gusto el exterior y localización y lo peor es que el parking cuesta 12€ cuando encima el coche está al aire libre y encima se gestiona allí en una máquina de parquimetro y no es nada barato me parece indignante que tengas que pagar por cada minuto que se te pase de la hora del tickets cuando estás pagando 12€ y el precio de las habitaciones no es nada barato. Dudo que repita.

+ Toll ist der kurze Weg zu Strand und Meer. Das Frühstück war sehr gut mit genügend Auswahl. - Beim Bezug des Zimmers war der Fußboden so dreckig, dass wir eine separate Reinigung an der Rezeption beantragen mussten. Wenig gut Englisch sprechendes Personal. Die Speisesäle sind sehr laut, die Ober hektisch.

No me gustó la falta de mantenimiento, por ejemplo en las barandillas en las terrazas de las habitaciones, pudriendose por la herrumbre de la salitre del mar. Me gustó todo lo demás, comidas copìosas y variadas, grupo de animación muy bueno, limpieza de habitaciones excelente, staff de recepción servicial y profesional. En realidad, ni siquiera es necesario salir del hotel para nada, todo lo necesario lo tienes dentro.

Skønt hotel

Skønt, skønt hotel - med beliggenhed lige ud til dejlig sandstrand. Hotellet er handicapvenligt. Hotellet har alt hvad der hører sig til, til at gøre opholdet behageligt og mindeværdigt. Stort morgenmads- samt aftensmadbuffet. Strandbarer tæt på. Meget hjælpsomt personale. Her kommer man meget gerne igen.

Leider hatten wir ein Zimmer im Souterrain nahe der Pool-Anlage. Während der Animation und bis zum Ende des Barbetriebs konnte man es im Zimmer kaum aushalten da es sehr laut war. Frühstück war hervorragend und das Personal freundlich. Die Zimmer sind groß, im Bad herrscht aber schon deutlicher Renovierungsbedarf (insbesondere Fliesen- und Bodenfugen). Der direkte Zugang zum Strand ist sehr praktisch.

Séjour balnéaire et familial

Personnel très attentif et efficace. Hôtel bien situé pour les balades sur la plage mais un peu éloigné du centre qui reste tout de même accessible à pied si vous êtes motivés. Parties communes rénovées et de bon goût, chambres quant à elles non rénovées et un peu vieillottes. Nous vous conseillons de prendre un chambre vue mer mais si vous souhaitez une terrasse, précisez le lors de la réservation. Animations uniquement hispanophones et personnel qui ne parle pas toujours anglais. Buffet varié et de qualité correct bien que la salle soit bruyante aux heures de pointe des familles avec enfants. Transats payant sur la plage et pas toujours de place autour de la piscine quant l’ho Est complet, cependant le personnel fait tout pour vous aider à en trouver. Parking de l’hôtel à 13€ par jour mais vous pouvez vous garer dans la rue pour 7€ la semaine.

Un magnifico hotel , queremos felicitar el personal la atención es inmejorable y queremos felicitar la cocina el buffet es el mejor que hemos probado en un hotel , todos los días algo diferente y de muy buena calidad toda la comida

Hemos estado 8 días, ya es la segunda vez y todo muy bien, instalaciones, comida, servicio.. Por poner una pega, el agua de la piscina estaba bastante fría.

Bien situado a pie de playa. Trato del personal excelente. Muy recomendable.

Das Hotel liegt direkt am Meer mit direktem Zugang zum Strand. Es liegt an Rande des Ortes, so dass man einen unverbauten Blick auf die Umgebung hat. Die Ausstattung ist sehr modern. Wir waren in der Nebensaison hier und fanden es traumhaft. In der Hauptsaison wird wohl zusätzlich Animationsprogramm angeboten. An den Wochenenden und in der Hauptsaison ist das Hotel sehr gut besucht, aber ansonsten ist es ein traumhaftes Plätzchen zum Erholen und Entspannen.

Sauber gute Lage . Die Betten wahren sehr gross & das Wc wahr tireckt mit dem Bad durch eine schiebe tür ferbunden. Na Ja nicht so super angehnem für denjenigen der am Zähne Putzen war!! sonst aber ganz ok.
