Stayed here with a group of 10 friends, the staff were extremely accommodating for putting us in rooms closer together. Everyone was extremely friendly/ helpful. The activity staff were amazing as well, always having entertainment throughout the day and fun activities. I really liked how they played music by the pool, definitely elevated the experience. The beach was small but I really liked it, it was quaint with restaurants and shops. Everything is in walking distance which is perfect, and the zoo is a 15 minute walk from the resort (so much fun). Overall it was a great time, I liked the shows they did at night, everyone is so talented. They also had good food options/ good drinks! ( if you like to drink, this is the resort for you, they’re not shy on alcohol) . 10/10 would come back!
I expected better entertainment
Todo bien gracias

The place was amazing the kids had the time of their life, staff were so friendly truly a wonderful place to go and relax. Thanks so much again.
Ive gone 3 yrs in a row and this trip had many changes to all inclusive as well as dress codes and limited dinner reservations. You can only have reserved dinner half the days of your stay. Food has always been mediocre. However the buffet options do offer choices. Room service food is also mediocre. Staff has definitely downgraded. Housekeeping and front lobby and dinner hosts arent friendly at all. Forget late check in, there is a high charge to extend and that is only to stay on the hotel grounds and demand you exit the room. Hotel rooms need updating. Sadly this was the last time I will visit.
Good value for what you pay. Views are amazing. On the smaller side for a resort. Lovely staff. Food is mediocre
I stayed at this hotel in 2013 and it was great back then. It is even better now. Great staff, great food, great bars, great pool, great beach, and plenty of things to do. My only problem is that I gained too much weight but that was my fault. I will go back.
The manager was so kind gave us an up grade no charge for being regular customers over15 years.we love the people that work their,we have know them for years. You will love Oscar the best server and Lewis the pizza man and Cain, their all beautiful people..you will love the resort, its just beautiful
I was disappointed in the evening entertainment. It was way too loud- painfully so - and lacked variety and creativity. I left early and went to bed.
We like the appearance of the hotel was clean the food in general was good, but they could improve on food selection in the buffet and was a little disappointing. There was no Mexican restaurant for traditional Mexican dishes. We did not like the pool with the swimmer bar, to be for both adults and children
Loved everything the property has to offer!
We had lots of great experiences! Ceaser/ Edgar in the premium lounge made us wonderful beverages. Alfredo and Ricardo helped kept us happy at the pool. The pool and grounds are beautiful.
Everything is good.
Located in a quiet bay surrounded by mountains. Close to the city but far enough to feel secluded.
All the staff are polite , they have good amenities, well located .
Loved the staff. Very clean. Amenities were exceptional. I would recommend.
I enjoyed the all inclusive plan. The kids club was good too. Not too many kids though. The rooms can have more snacks. The hotel was clean and the gardens were well kept. Overall, it was nice!
Resort was ok. Several pools but the swim up bar is for families, tried to get a drink and couldn’t because of all the kids sitting around the bar. Buffet has a limited selection and the food was not great, overcooked and in some cases burnt.
All in all, we had a nice time. The property is very clean. The bedrooms are roomy and have a nice balcony. But the bathroom was outdated. In room maid service was excellent. The front reception was ok. I was expecting a more welcoming staff. When we got there, we waited in line for about 15 minutes and when it was our turn, the staff member decided to take someone else that was not in line. I told her that we had been waiting and that it was our turn. Instead of apologizing to us, she apologized to the other person. Upon leaving, the staff just checked out and didn’t even ask how our stay was. Little things that make a difference. The excursions are pricey and not worth it. The pics and descriptions they give u are so much better than what you get. We went to Las Caletas and returned with a boat after 2 hours because it was so boring. Water had jellyfish so we couldn’t do any activities in that excursion. Buffet was ok. A lot of repeated foods. Nothing to brag about. Breakfast was great with an omelette stand. Nice staff at the buffet. A la carte restaurant, Don Quixote was excellent. Service and food was great. A lot different than the other restaurants. If you’re looking for a nice beachfront, it was not that good. Water is not clear, too many boats, and a very small beach. The pool areas were nice. An adults only pool was great! Service was a little slow although the hotel wasn’t even that busy. All in all, I’d give the hotel a fairly good rating.
Food poisoning.
Excellent for kids and families! Kids club and restaurant options are superb
Everything was clean and excellent service.
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this resort. We found the food good, plenty of options and great service from the staff. The only issue we had was a small leak in the roof of the bathroom, which staff was attentive to and fixed. Our room was spacious and balcony had a great view. Overall, great stay!
I was extremely anxious reading about all the comments of people getting sick. I’ve eaten anything and everything and had no issues and no one in our party of 6 got sick. We talked to a lot of people who never got sick during their stay. We took dukroal as we always do, so that always helps protect against traveller’s diarrhea. The food at the al la carts were always so delicious and loved the Spanish and Italian the most! The steakhouse has the best view with dinner, so nice to watch the sunset with dinner. The buffet for breakfast was really delicious and the fruit was always so fresh and sweet! And the cappuccinos were always perfect! The dinner buffets were great but honestly nothing special and we stayed 10 days and got 5 al la carts but we also ate outside resort too on some evenings. Loved the grill for lunch, the tacos were so delicious. The pool was beautiful, the greenery, and the palm trees and waterfalls surrounding it was so beautiful!! The swim up bar was usually packed and had kids and sometimes it was a little much so it was nice to have a separate pool for adults only. The bugs definitely eat you alive in the evening and early morning so recommend bug spray. The only downside was the ac wasn’t not working but was fixed and compensated with premium which was appreciated. Overall great day and can’t wait to go back!
Off the beaten path nice
So peaceful and relaxing.
Great family friendly
Food was okay, not the best though. I wish had more American food options. The Italian restaurant was delicious, but you have to reserve with voucher they give you. Resort was very clean, great staff. Would go back.
It was very family friendly. The only thing i wish is there were less boats so close to the beach
Very friendly staff, the front desk could be improved in dealing with requests like bed made ups and locked safe requests.
Nice location! Big rooms! Beautiful surroundings! Quality of food is very questionable! We got food poisoning at Capri restaurant! Spoiled our experience. Wouldn't come back to this resort. We've been to much better places for the same $.
Great food, great staff very enjoyable!!
i like the entire property because is far away from city also because is on the mountains .
T
Loved the staff and activities offered by the staff
Amazing
All the services are excellent 👌
Great resort if you're looking to stay on the outskirts of downtown puerto vallart. Not a lot to do, nor is there a town nearby to do shopping. I went with my 17 year old son and for him it was a little boring. Otherwise it was great to just do nothing and relax and enjoy the beauty of the beach and pool.
The property was okay. The amenities were not great the pool hours closed early the experience of the bar tender as far as options were limited
The food was sub par. Preferred club rooms are nice and spacious but probably not worth the extra money. The Preferred club lounge was quite far from everything. Rooms were not well stocked and were not cleaned very well.
Had an amazing stay at Barcelo Puerto Vallarta! The resort is beautiful, clean, and has everything you need for a relaxing vacation. Big thanks to Manager Mauricio—he went above and beyond to make sure our experience was perfect. His professionalism and attention to detail really stood out. Highly recommend!
Our stay at Barceló was wonderful!! The hotel is 45 min from the airport so not in the downtown hotel area, which made it quieter (which was what we wanted). The rooms and outfoor areas were super clean, except perhaps when it came to the cups in the pool area which sometimes took a while to clear up. Pools were amazing, there’s an adult only pool if you want a more peaceful time but the guys and girls who ran the daily activities and music were awesome, energetic and fun! Staff was always helpful and friendly. Food options were pretty good, especially the tacos at lunch time at the Los Arcos Snack Bar. The beach is somewhat small and full of people selling you stuff, but that’s a regular thing at Mexican beaches so it wasn’t a deal breaker. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.
Quiet area but easy to get to PV via Uber.
I personally would not return to this resort. We were here for a wedding- there was a large group of us. There were a couple of nice staff members but overall, I would say the service was poor. There was no bar service on the beach at all. The food was ok and they had weird rules. For example, they would not allow you to order guacamole but you COULD get guacamole with nachos. I saw people ordering the nachos to get access to guacamole and leaving the nachos untouched. The beach wasn't swimmable- there were boats and fisherman there the whole time. It's right beside the Night of the Iguana House which is cool if that's on your list of things to see. The rooms were comfortable and spacious with beautiful views of the ocean. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. AC was excellent. Wifi was great. Not far from Boca if you want to do a day trip there. They stock the fridge with a couple beers, pops and a bag of chips once daily. The entertainment was excellent! The Queen performer was incredible!! There is a bus across the street if you want to do a day trip into PV. We felt a bit isolated.
The resort is lush and spacious. Site staff were so nice and always available for service.
Nice smaller resort. Everything is walkable. Huge rooms with great views and huge balconies. Entertainment crew worked hard and kept everything fun. Strange the family pool was the deeper pool and even stranger that's where the swim up bar was located. Adult pool was the shallower one with no swim up. Plenty of loungers so never a shortage. Food everywhere was good. No complaints in that regard. Managed to get our daily reservation and at our preferred time of 7:00. We found the friendliest servers to be in the buffet. Very quiet at night with just the 1 small cantina bar open after dinner with very uncomfortable chairs lol. We did enjoy the karaoke night in there. Upon checkout we found the front desk staff could be more personable. No one asking how your stay was or even acknowledging the fact you're leaving. Just anxious to cut off your bracelet. We stayed 10 nights. I went to front desk day before leaving asking if we could checkout at 1 instead of noon due to having a later flight but she wasnt goung to budge without a fee. Not even nice about it. We did like this resort and we would return. Would like to know if these biting bugs are certain times of the year or always in existence. We were warned prior and did bring bug spray but the bugs were relentless and we left with many very itchy bites. Some sort of misquito tyoe bug.
Loved our stay at this resort! First time in Puerto Vallarta and so happy I chose to stay here, rather than resorts closer to town. This resort is closer to the unique beaches and towns that are accessible only by water. You can also walk into Mismaloya and explore. There are little huts right next to the resort where you can get $30 massages. You can book boat excursions right on the beach. I love being right next to the jungle. We are platinum with expedia, and since this is a VIP Expedia resort, you get Premium wristband for perks of free room service (although, they require 24hr notice, so we never used it), premium alcohol for those who drink, and other perks. Most staff were very friendly. Beautiful resort. We loved our morning breakfast views from the buffet restaurant. The Los Arcos steak house for dinner had delicious fillet. The rooms are huge and clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The only thing i didnt like was constantly having music blaring and the people yelling into the microphone, playing games. If you ever wsnt to take a nap or "tune out," its kind of difficult. But, thats just us. I think most resorts are like that. Overall, the price we paid for what we got was incredible. I definitely recommend this resort. And best of all, there was NO haggling at the resort, unlike our experience at a different resort in Cabo.
Over all we were very please with our getaway
Neatness of place and pleople’s kindness
It was awesome place just wished they had better entertainment at night like a disco or a club,Other then that we had a great time and loved everything,Food was amazing,Staff was unbelievable ,friendly ,hardworking accommodating. If you want a quite holiday it’s a perfect place and the view is amaizing.
beautiful location. large rooms all with ocean view.
Beach is very close; amenities are clean! Nice pools and good cantina! very friendly staff! Lots of programs like aquarobic and shows every night!
I enjoyed my stay
Barcelo Puerto Vallarta is beautiful.
Beautiful spot, lovely resort, kind and friendly staff, delicious food, clean facilities, and the beach location was perfect. If I could add one more thing to make it better, maybe offer more options for nightlife.
Rooms were large and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. Very nice pool and beautiful grounds.
Gorgeous property with the friendliest staff. Large rooms with mini bar stocked at all times! Servers and bartenders were absolutely lovely!!!!
Our stay at the Barcelona was great! There was quite a bit of guests there but we never had an issue getting lounge chairs by the beach or pool. I would say the only down side was you had to go down to the concierge desk every morning you wanted to get a dinner reservation and there was typically a line. There also seemed to be a bit of a stomach bug going around while we were there but we did notice the hotel upped their cleaning and had hand sanitizer out everywhere. Even with that though we would stay here again!
Beautiful property. Nice beach.
Beautiful resort! Really enjoyed our stay. Clean and staff were very friendly.
Very peaceful with great staff! I would visit again
This is a great resort for a couple or family. They had a tonne of daily activites to keep you busy. The staff were amazing, so friendly and attentive. The food was good, there was different options daily which is nice. Highly recommend staying here.
The buffet was great for breakfast but the omelette station was always super busy with long lines and only ever had one person making them. We sat down many times at the buffet and were completely overlooked by staff for coffee /drinks etc and they knew we were there as they sat us. Rene was however, a fantastic server at the buffet when we got him. The buffet served basically the same for lunch and dinner and we found it hard to find a good selection of good food. We only tried one a la carte (Italian)and it was not good at all, and the server was very unfriendly. Only grunted when we said thank you, etc. We would have liked to try the other restaurants but you were only allowed to make dinner reservations the morning of and the lineup to do so at 9am was crazy and even with being at the desk first thing, the earliest dinner reservation we could get was 9pm...way too late for us. The advertising for activities was lacking and the things to do around the resort were very few. Our mini bar (despite tipping) was only filled 3 times in our 7 day vacation and we had to go to the front desk and ask them to come to the room to fill it. The bartender at the Cantina (Gerardo) was fantastic and always remembered us and greeted us with a smile on his face. Overall our experience was ok but unfortunately, we wouldn't recommend this Barcelo to friends and family and would not return for another holiday here.
Beautiful property, our room on the 7th floor had an amazing view of the ocean. Tower 1 was very noisy most nights. The food was ok, but a lot of the plates at the buffet were dirty, and many of the heated food containers had broken lids that made it difficult to hold your plate, the lid, and scoop food. Seven out of ten of our party fell ill at some point, with 24hours of vomiting and diarrhea, so likely a food borne illness. Very friendly staff. The service around the pool was quick enough that you were never out of drinks for long. The habit people have of reserving pool loungers that didn't get used until late in the day makes it difficult for others to enjoy the space, and none of the staff seemed inclined to enforce the rules of No Reservations. The adult pool was kept free of children, which I very much appreciated. There are bugs, and many of us got bit, so use the bug spray. It was on the whole a lovely time. I might return, but there's many other resorts I'll probably try first.
Property was beautiful! Buffet & Snack Bar were great, we really enjoy the variety and the staff were fantastic! Ala Carte’s Italian - was ok, they need to do better with their menu. Capri - Steak House was really good. Spanish - was good. Japanese - Sushi only - very disappointing. The adult pool area was nice but the need to have activities on the adult only side. One thing we thought was weird is they had the swim up pool bar on the family side and nothing on the adult side. Not sure why you want to mix drink adults with children. We’ve been to several resorts in PVR and the Ala Carte’s at the Barcelo were nothing great. Rooms really needs to be updated and maintained better, our faucet was loose, the handles were coming off, and we had to open and slam the door several times to get it to close. We stayed at the Barcel in 2018, big difference in 7 years and not for the better. I would give the staff a 3 out of 5 overall.
Hotel was nice. did NOT like waiting in line each morning for a dining reservation. all other all inclusives tried to get you more reserved dining. Here i felt like they were trying to limit the number of dinner reservations you could get. wasnt all that impressed with the dinners either. they were OK but i had hope for better
We felt completely safe at Barcelo. Security to enter the property was good, they took special care to ensure our safety. Every staff member from Bell Hop to Reception, wait staff at all restaurants, including the Buffet which served a nice variety for each meal of the day, were jovial and seemed pleased to see us at each visit. Housekeeping, while mostly didn't speak English, took care of our needs according to our wishes. I did question some of the evident cleaning shortcuts we observed when we happened to be in our room when they came around but asked them in rather than them having to come back. We were provided bottled water each day, though never felt like we had enough water to properly hydrate ourselves. Unfortunately, of the 19 of our family members on this trip 15 of us ended up with Norovirus at some time in our 8 day stay.
The Barceló Puerto Vallarta is located in Mismaloya on a secluded beach. The property is lush and well maintained. The food was very good and the service overall was excellent. Guests should bring insect repellent as the resort is located in a lush forest area. Would definitely return!!
Not good food.
Excellent service and food are great
The property had limited dinning. The buffet wasnt good at all, not many options. The restaurants that meeded restrictions had a strict dress code which we werent prepared for. My husband and i both got sick from food. The pool closed early at 8. The bartender had limited knowledge of drink options. The room was ok. The lady selling activities outside of hotel wasnt open about possibilities of activities being closed or there being a weight limit.
Pros: easy access to the sea, pools, and other pool-related facilities. They have very friendly staff, and the property is beautiful and clean. Cons: Below average food even for dine in experiences and watered down airport. They also have also internet every once in a while
We got bed bugs and really bad mosquito bites. The property itself is really nice and staff is great.
Friendly staff, and spacious rooms. The food was average. Buffet and snack bar items not refilled quickly. Restaurants require a reservation, and can only be made day of. I expected there to be more activities/shows offered or better use of the grounds. I was comparing to other 5 star resorts i have visited.
Very nice property, felt that I received the quality I was paying for, would definitely come back again
This hotel has been one of the best places i have stayed at in mexico! The staff is all so amazing especially in the kids club! They went above and beyond to make my kids enjoy the trip!
Food was good, service was good. Room restrooms are old and dirty.
Is awesome please for vacation
We love this property. The staff are excellent. Oscar and Octavio and Moises are great. Beautiful beach. They keep the resort clean
Overall the place was nice and made me and my family feel very comfortable
The staff were friendly and attentive, specially Ana Guzman who assisted me with a genuine customer oriented approach.
I was given wrong information by staff prior to coming, which led to me renting a $400 car, advertise to be $150. They should’ve told us that taxi was easy but instead someone told us we needed to prearrange as a tour company to arrive there and this led a lot of complications. Orientation and explanation for the benefits would have been appreciated to maximize the stay. I didn’t know if they would charge A large resort fee at the end after tipping which they did not do and I appreciate that. The musical entertainment was great talent. I think I had better seating during meals being a premium customer, but it would’ve been nice to know that. My family and I got very sick, this is from water in the coffee? From utensils in the buffet? Will not know but we lost two days of our our inclusive!
The grounds are beautiful. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. The Japanese and Italian restaurants are the best to eat at aside form the tacos for lunch. We had a problem having our steaks cooked correctly at the Spanish and steakhouse for dinners. People were reserving chairs this trip which wasn’t an issue last time but we think it’s more of a spring break issue. Everything else was great!
The staff is what really saved this vacation for my husband and I. Specifically our bartender Enrique, who makes a mean pina colada and provided excellent service. We loved everything about the resort until we got food poisoning from one of the a la carte restaurants. The food tasted really good for an all inclusive but they clearly aren’t following food safe guidelines. For this reason we won’t be back.
Two thumbs up
The rooms were clean and large. The bed was comfortable. There was a massive language barrier, it seemed like no one spoke or understood English. It would take three or four calls to the front desk to get any type of service. The hair dryer was broken, and they brought multiple broken hair dryers to replace it. The service was hit and miss. The food was boring, bland, and not appealing. It was difficult to get into the ala carte restaurants. Many people got very sick, including my boyfriend and myself. I would not recommend this resort and I would never return to a Barcelo.
Friendly staff, good food, room was great, thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
The Barceló brand is usually great but this resort falsely advertised the beach amenity because there were pictures from years ago showing the beach and pristine waters. However, when we arrived there was little to no beach and the ocean waters were not pristine, instead it was littered with fishing boats and tourist boats. The food was somewhat edible for gluten free folk but it was hard when presenting the gluten free card for all staff members to know what was gluten free. There was no labelling on menus or at buffets to identify food that was safe.

Clean. Great food.
Nice resort
My family had a very restful vacation. Everything from service, food, accommodations was fantastic. We look forward to returning and staying longer next time.
We really enjoyed our trip here. They do a great job making sure you are happy. Staff is great, to be honest I can’t wait to come back because of the staff I met. The food was good too. Nothing was over the top great but it was good and there were plenty of choices. We will be back!!
Great place! Food is good! Moses in the buffet is an excellent employee
We only enjoyed the view the room is big this resort that’s all only good things other than that nothing good bathroom is so old needs to update , we had bugs in sofa, our fl of 4 of us we all got bits, food is not good , we stayed 4 nights the buffet for lunch and dinner are the same food most everyday and not a lot of choices. Sorry but I’m not come back to this place again.
The property was nice. the biggest disappointment was the volume of the wedding that took place. it shock our walls (the bathroom door and the barn-door splitting the rooms, because to much bass. Think the wedding party would still have been a success if the music was not so load.
Very friendly but pool is pretty much a loud fun scene which is great if you are looking for that.
My wife and I loved staying at the Barcelo, Puerta Vallarta. We had a great time and will be back!

Beautiful location, excellent staff and service, food and drinks. Would prefer more restaurant options only 3 plus buffet while we were there, one closed for renovations. Overall excellent.
