This was the by far our nicest all inclusive we have went to. The staff everywhere were beyond friendly and the dining was outstanding. We will definitely be back

Just got back from our stay, we had a party of 8 for a private wedding ceremony on the beach. The hotel was overbooked and did not have a room for me and my husband. They made it seem like a great thing for us to be upgraded to the adults only resort. The staff was very rude, they did not explain things after waiting an hour for our checking in process. When we got over to the adults only the staff was very nice and were able to explain the overbooking and we now were able to understand what happened. My daughter in law was crying with my son and 2 small children waiting over 2 hours for them to get into there room. Plus she was so upset that we were not at the same place when we all booked together for this family vacation with the ceremony. After this day we were not able to get into the same restaurant for any of our dinners related to being overbooked. We made the most of our stay related to being in Mexico and the weather was great. Will never recommend this resort or be back.

It would be better for all swimmers if people not feed in the water tortoises.

We have stayed at this property 8 times. Really love the resort and choices it offered. This was the most crowded it has ever been when we were there and it did seem like they could really use some more bartenders, servers and chairs around the pool. The lines were rather bad. Our VIP benefits weren't quite as good this time- we never got a bottle of wine in the room as before.

Very enjoyable stay. Property, pools, staff, and service were excellent! The food at the buffets left a little to be desired. Not that appetizing. It was also left out too long and was not heated very well. Al and all a very enjoyable experience.

Love the pools and beach access and large rooms, didn't like that there were lots of rocks in ocean water near the Palace, hot food in buffet was not hot or even warm, cooked meats were tough - very disappointing.

The snorkeling was amazing! Would have like to have food options outside by the pool.

We’ve been there multiple times and the quality of food and cleanliness of the beaches are going down. This time we stayed at Palace and unfortunately the beaches were not very clean, we’ve seen lots of plastic cups/bags etc. in the waters.

Stayed here many times. First time that I had trouble finding a lounger on the beach. Mostly because they’ve removed at least a third of them. Question is, why?

I love the fact that everything is onsite. Food at the Palace was great. My kids loved it. 20 year olds wanted more people at the club but I believe it was slow because of the time of year we went. Family photos taken by onsite company are fabulous. This was our second time there and will definitely go back again.

Overall our 7 night stay was excellent. We had two kids under 8 and there was plenty for them to keep them happy through the day untill there bedtime. For us adults it might have been nice to have a little more clarity on what is offered for us. Food was good and plentiful but NO Halal at all which was a shame. All this being said we would definitely go back and spend our time there again.

Overall this was a great vacation!! Beautiful property, lots of food options, and huge salt water pools! Fun swim up bar. We enjoyed it and will likely return! A couple of issues that we will learn from for next time. You can only make 2 reservations for restaurants at a time, and they book very quickly. Do this right away! If you book the resort through a third party like Expedia, call the resort to confirm that you get the room you requested-example 1king bed vs 2 double beds. This is considered a “request” and is not a guarantee. Property conditions rated 4/5 due to one bed being sunk in and blowing a fuse using the hair dryer. Minor issues that were fixed.

No question. Will be back annually. If you are thinking about booking a trip here, do it now. Trust me.

Really amazing experience here, would definitely come again. This was our first all inclusive in Mexico and we had a blast. Just be mindful that check-in and check-out will take much longer than expected-that was our only complaint the whole week.

Mexican service seems turning to Cuban. Nothing will be done before your tips. The worst part is check in - check out. You can wait hours in the line just to ask for a couple of questions regarding the property.

We had a vacation with family in December 2024, was really nice experience. Highly recommended to book ahead dinner restaurant reservation. Mariachi in Rodizzio was magnificent!

We enjoyed the Christmas eve display and food. It was amazing. The serving staff was certainly well trained and was super friendly and helpful. We commend their work, willingness to help even after many hours working!?

Great property. This is the 2nd time But check in took forever. Took an hour and a half

The beach was great. That was about it. The service was absolutely horrible. It was not because the staff was mean it was mostly because the staff was incompetent. Checkin took about 3 hours. The staff rarely had a smile on their face. Everyone was very matter of fact. The drinks also were horrible. The water and the ice felt like they were desalinated water. It was always salty. There was not a single drink, even the common simple ones like a mojito that was anywhere near what it actually supposed to be. The restaurant food was good, however the buffet was not. Comparing this to other resorts, especially the ones in punta Cana Dominican Republic. It cannot be compared.

The property was big with lots of activities. Food was mediocre at best, the Japanese restaurants were impossible to book. When we called to ask for water, we had to call 3 times and waited for 6hrs even though everytime they said they will send someone right away. Same thing with housekeeping. Called to request our room clean, was told right away and waited 3 hrs but nobody came. Had to call a second time before someone finally came over. Last but not least, the server at one of the restaurant accidently poured sauce on my wife's shirt. The restaurant manager was rude and didn't apologize, kept saying it was an accident. I had to speak to the hotel manager in the end In order to have the shirt cleaned. If this is indeed a 5 star hotel, none of these should have happened.

First and worst-- check-in. Very disorganized and took over an hour and we had the Premium Package. People were taken out of order of arriving and no communication amongst staff. Now, the REST of it was glorious! Rooms were wonderful, large, and clean. Staff was very courteous. Food and drinks were excellent, and bountiful with a wide variety. Grounds were very well kept and clean. Beaches were also wonderful. Just have lots of singles, fives, and tens for tips. And they earn them, so we gladly paid. Highly recommend and we will gladly return.

Nice big area to walk, many bufets,very good water to swime and a lot more.

Another excellent stay at Barceló Palace. The only complaint I have is the rock hard beds. Made sleeping difficult, but that may just be a personal preference.

Fantastic, best vacation ever !!

It’s a great resort, however staff is not as friendly as you would hope (and we always tipped), with the exception of the cleaning staff who always had a smile and a friendly greeting in the morning. Probably won’t return next year.

A wonderful resort for a tropical holiday

I had to pay an extra $600 for my daughter, they told me that I did not purchase a package for my daughter. It took them 1 hr and 40 minutes to do the checkin. It was ridiculous. We would've finish sleeping in lobby. How it was possible? I purchased all through Travelocity and somehow my daughter become an infant. It was not my fault the broken system, And then they told me, it is not the first time it happened. So I had to pay for my daughter extra.

This resort was a blast. The quality of the services and the variety of elements made it nice to relax and soak in the vacation. I especially loved the fitness centers and the folks running the fitness centers.

This was our second time to Barcelo maya Palace. Our group included 3 generations, kids 12 & q14 and a senior. It is a fantastic resort for all ages. Quite large so bring good walking shoes. The staff go above and beyond and provide exceptional service. Specially Erica and Pedro at the palace French restaurant and Enrique at the palace buffet every morning. The palace buffets have so many food options and all delicious. Each night I was able to book our group of 5 for a la carte. I suggest booking them right after you check in. Tokyo at the maya mall and the French restaurant at the palace were our favourites. Food, ambience and staff make it a wonderful experience. The rooms are spacious and very clean. I email the resort ahead of time to request ground floor rooms and was pleasantly surprised when I arrived we had premium level and ground floor rooms near the pool. The resort grounds are also kept very clean. The evening entertainment is slightly lacking but we all were so tired from daytime activities I don’t know if it really matters. Considering everything we love this resort and will be back.

I loved how big the property was and now there was so much to do anytime throughout the day.

This is our second time staying at this resort because it’s very convenient for children. But we will not be returning because the rooms are very damp and have a moldy smell ( we had a group of 40 ) people and everyone had the same complaints .

Great place for a family vacation.

Absolutely wonderful! Perfect for families or just adults! We will definitely return!! Eduardo and Gerardo at the pool bar were excellent. Andreas with activites was a ton of fun! Best resort we have been to in Mexico. Incredible beach! Cleanlinest next to none.

The grounds are impecable it’s where I have been coming for years and will come again. I have been to a lot of other hotels and I keep coming back here because nothing else compares ! My 2 cents would be to get the buffet smell of eggs cleaned up and maybe upgrade the rooms at some point. Other than that I wouldn’t change anything. Great staff !! All around my kids had a great time and the staff catered to them and they felt comfortable to ask for their own beverages and wonder around . I have recommended to a lot of friends and family as we come here every year with at least 12 to 20 members of the family and have a great time with all the beach amenities that are provided free of charge

Barcelo Maya Palace is a place where you can fully stay and never feel any need to go off property, they have everything there. There is so much I can say about this place. One of my highlights was the artwork all over the property and the attention to detail. There are three theatres on property and every night at 9:30 they all have a show of some kind. Our most favourite was the Broadway show, second was Il Divo and third was Michael Jackson. I did jet skiing for the first time, one of my bucket lists, and it was so amazing, especially with the drone video work I bought afterwards. My wife and I have been all over Mexico and this is by far our favourite place now to go. The rooms are huge, the beach is massive with calm waters, there’s always a seat to relax on and place your stuff.

The Barceló is good but I never received a room upgrade and was placed so far from anything that it took me 15 minutes to get to the pools.

Giant property. Have to use shuttle to get from various points in the resort. Or walk.

Took the family for week and we all really enjoyed! I would highly recommend the Maya palace to any family. Beautiful pool, very quiet at night and very clean. The beach is beautiful and the staff is great. If I were to recommend anything to anyone, it would be to make sure you book your reservations for dinner as early as possible. The food at each restaurant was fantastic!

Great area, great pools, warm water

Have stayed at the Barceló Maya Palace three time in the last few years and we enjoy our stay every time. This time the resort was busy with a lot of families and was a little noisy but there is always room at the beach to sit and relax. The Palace is showing its age but still stands out as one of the nicer resorts in the Maya. The staff were generally happy and accommodating, while the bar staff at Coco bar were surly, they got the job done. The lobby bar, Carey, can get very noisy when it fills up with families, with lots of kids running around and screaming. Buffets were very busy but the staff are vey quick to get things ready for the next guest. Food was good with different dishes each night but the menu hasn't changed much in years. All the restaurants at the Palace are top notch and they prepare the food very well. All in all we had another great vacation at the Barcelo Maya Palace.

We have been to the Barcelo many times. First time we’ve had difficulty booking ale art dinners! The colonial / Tropical Buffet is superior to palace buffet as far as selection and freshness! Francisco (French restaurant) went above and beyond to make our dinner amazing and even got us in for a second time

We didn’t like the long distance between the main building (lobby & restaurants). It’s too long for seniors or people with disabilities! They should have transportation service with electric cars, like in some airports!

We stayed at the Barcelo Maya Palace in November 2024. The property is very nice and well maintained. There are lots of activities to do, but many include extra charges, including the pirate water area (including the surf boarding), bowling and mini putt. The buffet at the Palace was disappointing to us. The food was sometimes overcooked and dry and the service from staff was sometimes slow. The buffet at the Tropical/Colonial was much better and we found ourselves going there for lunch. The property for this resort is huge. If you plan on going from resort to resort you'll want to take the bus, which comes every half hour, so you need to plan accordingly. Overall we had a great time and would go back again.

Very kid friendly. So much to do!

This property is massive and with no golf carts it makes for a lot of walking. There is poor layout so you have to walk a long ways for everything. Also a lack of communication upon check in, for us the check in check out was the most inefficient and with no proper instructions on how to get to room or anything about a la carte reservation or towel cards, just added to all the other things that we did not like about this resort

The layout is great. Lots of seating at the beach and around the pool. Beautiful beaches. Lots of great activities at the pool. Room was a great size for a family of 5. Love the three story units with the courtyards. Could use a lot more towels.

They are a bunch of crooks. Stay away if you are smart.

I fell twice, it was raining and there are no mats in the rooms at the buffets. I did report my falls, thank you. yo me cai 2 veces, estuvo lloviendo y no hay tapetes de los cuartos al los buffets. si reporte mis caídas gracias.

Food was good taste, and a lot of choice. The beach is beautiful, shallow, no waves. Big , nice pool with hydromassage installations. Staff constantly washed windows, glass doors, floors, sidewalks. I had to call the front desk not once to get missing towels, water bottles or something else, and all the problems were solved in a matter of minutes. The staff were polite, and patient . Planning to be there again.
