I would highly recommend this resort

Amazing 20th visit! Also we were upgraded to Adults only as my VIP perk!! It was absolutely wonderful!

We had an amazing trip to Mexico and really enjoyed our stay at Barcelo. The resort was clean and beautiful. We were upgraded when we arrived from Maya Caribe to Maya Riviera adults only which was a treat since we were travelling without our kids. We did walk along the entire beach and looked at all the hotels and they all seemed equally as impressive. The restaurants at the Maya Riviera were AMAZING. We did not have one bad meal or experience. We booked as soon as we got there and had reservations for the whole week. The staff everywhere were friendly, attentive and hard working. There is a bus that takes you from one resort to the other. The beach and sand are beautiful. It was at times hard to get a chair at the beach first thing in the morning, but eventually it cleared out. Always lots of chairs around the pools. It never felt crowded or busy. There’s nightly entertainment at multiple properties, mini golf, bowling, arcade games, so much food, casino, shopping. I noted the resort seemed very accessible - lots of elevators and ramps. There were people in wheelchairs and they had beach wheelchairs. Overall we were extremely impressed. This was only my second time to Mexico and my husbands first time, but we travelled with friends who have been there many times and said this hotel was by far the best. We are already talking about going back with our kids.

All of the staff was very friendly and the little shops were nice. There is an onsite clinic and pharmacy. It was hard to get reservations to the restaurants.

The property was larger than expected but the staff kept all areas clean. Dinners in the a la carte restaurants were excellent. Book them as soon as you arrive. The only downside was the buffet restaurant was overwhelming with choices and some items were not that great. I wish they had half the items but done well.

Service was not great. Line ups everywhere you went, not enough staff working for how many people stay there.

The property is fantastic. We enjoyed access to the amenities of four hotels, including bars, swimming pools, and restaurants. The buffet restaurant is amazing, offering a wide variety of options, including local dishes. There are also other dining options with excellent food and service. The beach is beautiful with calm waters. While there are some rocky areas, it's easy to find sandy spots. The hotel is well-maintained and clean, with friendly staff who always greet you with a smile.

It's a great place for a family vacation! We truly enjoyed the place, there were plenty of things to do for our family so we didn't need to leave the hotel. The beach was fantastic: white sand, shallow entrance, perfect depth for little kids. We'd love to come back again!

We didn't actually stay at Maya Caribe. When we arrived, we were upgraded to the sister resort Maya Riviera one of the six resorts in the Maya Grand complex. It's an adults -only property that is the top resort in the group. We had access to all of the beaches, bars, restaurants and other amenities at all of the resorts. Dressel Divers is in the middle of the resorts and provides three trips each day to local dive sites. We had an excellent time diving and relaxing here.

Parents should be taken care of their kids, special at buffet.

I liked then the resort. The beach is amazing, snorkeling, turtles, beautiful sand. The only draw back is the never ending battle for beach chairs.

Clean and very well maintenanced property. A bit outdates. The thing I hated the most is the towel game. It is not supposed to wake up on 6:30 to go and put your towels to reserve chairs when you are supposed to relax and enjoy the vacation. There were multiple situations when people were getting angry because of lack of chairs. I don't get how the management can spend so much money on the resort to make customers enjoyng the stay, but oversee something important like that. I've seen this isuues in other resorts also and this is plain stupid. Also there were some moments when the water pressure was very low.

It was a beautiful property perfect area but my only compliant is the bathroom toilet seat was nasty and peeling and when brought to attention of staff they didn’t seem to care so had to keep wrapping seat with toilet paper with every use .

We stayed at the Caribe for our honeymoon and were blown away by the friendliness and professionalism of the service staff and the expertise of the grounds crew. The beach was gorgeous, the pools were relaxing, the specialty dinners were delicious, and the nightly entertainment was so much fun! We will be back in February and staying at the Palace, so looking forward to seeing how they compare. Highly recommend Barcelo Maya!

THIS PROPERTY IS CLEAN, I FELT SAFE, I DEFY ANYONE NOT TO FIND SOMETHING THEY ENJOY TO EAT, OF COURSE SOME FOOD IS BETTER AND SOME NOT SO MUCH. WE WERE A FAMILY PARTY OF 18... RANGING FROM 75 TO 7YRS, ALL HAD A WONDERFUL TIME. :)

My third time staying at a Barcelo resort my first time in Puerto Vallarta and the two times here Tropical and Caribe. Everything like alway very nice. This time we checked in premium not to happy with the check in process the staff who help us check in very low spoken had trouble understanding what she was saying and not too friendly. Not the best experience! At the hotel lobby area staff is more welcome and friendly. Other than that we always enjoy our stay at Barcelo.

Resort was excellent like the other one’s we’ve stayed at, although this one was much louder in the early morning hours (2am) when people are trying to sleep.

My first time at the resort and it was a great experience! We did have an issue at check-in. We reserved through Orbitz and were granted VIP status, per Orbitz. However, the resort had an issue honoring the VIP package because it wasn't in their system, even though it was clearly stated on our printed reservation papers. After a lot of back and forth and fustration they granted us the VIP package as if they were doing us a favor.

I enjoyed the easy access to pools and beach. I never felt crowded. They did have several issues with fire alarms going off at night due to false alarms that woke me up a couple of nights. Staff was friendly and housekeeping did a fantastic job keep our room refreshed and tidy.

Barcelo is the best resort. Very calm and most important safe. Gorgeous beach, impeccable service. Thanks to everyone. I will definitely come again.

I liked that there are many things to do It felt less friendly than the previous year we visited. I liked it more in October 2023, more selection and better quality of food, staff was friendlier, more attentive.

Property was very clean, friendly staff. We were able to make 3 dinner reservations. Ocean has a lot of rocks which makes a little hard to walk. Drinks are good, we had access to all 4 Barcelo resorts, everything in walkable distance.

Our room was not cleaned thoroughly when we arrived. The toilet leaked resulting in a wet bathroom floor at all times. Also our shower would not drain so you are standing in dirty water while showering. There was a loud squealing sound that woke us up coming from the vent on our first night there. They did fix it but it returned periodically throughout our stay which resulted in poor quality sleep. We will not be returning and do not recommend you spend your hard earned money to stay here.

Very friendly staff! After the first night I asked for an room upgrade and the staff worked hard to make it work and found us a really nice room! Beach is beautiful, pool areas are nice, good drink selection. We travelled with family and would come back. Try to book the junior suite if you can.

Very please with everything though the entertainment at Kukulkan theater was not that great, except the three guys singing opera were awesome. I know they can do better.

The last night we were there we had 2 terrible experiences First our room door was jammed on the inside and it wouldn’t open, my husband and kids were stuck outside while I was inside, it took over 30 mins to get someone to help and multiple calls to reception which staff was extremely rude saying they weren’t notified even after my husband went up to reception to let them know, not once did they apologize for the inconvenience and having my toddler fall asleep outside the door. Second my daughter lost her purse in the bowling alley when she realized she left it behind only a few mins had passed, she notified staff and no one helped her looked for it and was ignored, this makes me feel like it could have been an employee, finally security searched the area they said they would look at camera footage which shouldn’t take long at all we filed a claim and we yet received any info or calls with updates. My daughter had $200 cash, AirPods and her drivers license, identity theft is now a main concern for us. The property needs better management to handle and escalate issues appropriately! The property is beautiful, food wasn’t terrible but also not the best. Pool area could use more shade. There is a lot to do inside property however will not stay again or recommend this Resort.

When we arrived, we were changed to another part of the hotel and they made us walk to the other resort with our luggage. The room key had to be changed 4 times which required a long walk to the front desk 4 times.

El complejo de hoteles superó nuestra expectativa en lo general, pues veníamos de una experiencia anterior no muy feliz en otro destino .Muy bien atendido el hotel y sus areas y el trato en general es bueno. Mis quejas son respecto a las habitaciones que necesitan una remodelacion.Las camas son pequeñas, no hay opciones de conexión usb y pocos outlets de corriente disponible.El baño necesita ser remodelado más que la habitación. La limpieza de la habitación no era la mejor.Despues de un par de días mejoró supongo que por las propinas dejadas.Otra cosa a mejorar sería tener un smart tv que el huésped pueda acceder a sus cuentas de entretenimiento online. Mi otra queja es la premura con que te atienden en los restaurantes a la carta. A pesar de estos detalles fué una buena experiencia, la picina excelente.

We got upgraded to Barcelo Riviera and greatly appreciate it. It was not crowded like Caribe or Palace (no kids). Beach was amazing, plenty of loungers and clear water. We often used buffets at Caribe, Tropical or Palace because service was better there. Overall we will be back for sure even though we stayed at Barcelo Maya probably 8 times.(since 2010) Caribe always provided us with best, unmatched service, Palace has great buffets and Riviera best beach. Thank you Barcelo!

We went with our 7 and 9 year old for 5 nights and we all had a fabulous stay. The food was amazing, staff were helpful and kind and pools were great

This is my third trip to this property, we had so much fun this time we extended our stay another day. (Completely not cost effective but we didn't want to leave) Its safe, the teenagers just go off on their own and I don't have to worry about them, the pools are fantastic, the beach is well maintained, if I had one thing I had to be a critic about it would be the food, 5 years ago it was definitely alot better but noone starved thats for sure!!!! Drinks were plentiful and quickly served. It is hands down my favorite vacation spot.

There is plenty of seating around the pool and beach areas. Just a suggestion: the second pool area needs an outdoor bar it’s not ideal walking from the beach and going into the restaurant for a drink.

We all fell in love with this place, can’t wait to go again. There is so much to do, great family and friends resort, very clean and safe. Love it all.

What in really liked about the property was the beautiful settings ;however , I wasn’t to fond of the lack of activities and the limited options for lunges or bars with music it seemed geared more towards an 18 year old crowd in the one club the had

Stayed 5 nights in July of 2024 and would not return if they paid me to. The Resort - The buildings were really old and smelled of mold and mildew. I afterwards found out it was built in '99, I wish I had checked before I booked. It looks like it was built in '99 and thousands of people used it, which they did. It's in a rough condition. Our section was called Sayil. The Room - We booked the Superior room and it looks nothing like in the pictures. The bathroom was terrible. Caulked a million times, dark, small and the toilet seat would not stay up. The 'shower/bath' glass door was dirty and stained and the room smelled of mold. The balcony glass door must be the original from '99 as the mechanism to lock unlock barely worked and if not careful it would lock you outside. A girl in the room on the right side when facing our room door got stuck in the balcony and I had to call room service to let her out. The room was terrible and mattresses old uncomfortable. Food - Absolutely terrible. The buffet and the Captain Morgan's bar. Junk food at it's finest. We are not rich by any means or picky eaters, but if it wasn't for the omelet in the morning and potatoes, tomatoes and dry foods we would have starved. You only get 2 vouchers for the restaurants, and it is quite impossible to get a reservation. Managed to reserve for the last night. Pool and Beach - The pool and the beach were the only good thing, and my kids enjoyed swimming in both. Staff were amazing!!!

The resort has limited activities for kids. It was hard to keep our kids entertained after pool and beach were closed. The food was not the best and I’m not picky when it comes to food and I was definitely not impressed by it

Excellent Hotel, The Amenities are amazing for kids & Family

The property was huge and the ability to walk to and use other sections is a very nice feature. Overall the resort is great but the food should be a lot better for the size of the resort. I would expect upper level chef and cooking staff to put out high quality food, but to be honest I’ve seen better food at school lunches, very disappointing.

Loved how clean the resort was and it was nice having seven hotels that you could use the amenities off and a mall and casino for entertainment.

The room I received needed various maintenance work. The sliding door was broken adjoining door was also not working right the safe was also not working correctly and the phone did not work except for the first and last day. It was also very challenging making dinner reservations for the restaurants I wanted to attend and the hotel would not take reservations in advance. The staff was kind but time was wasted waiting on the maintenance and for the safe to be fixed. I had to wait over two hours for them to arrive one day.
