It is a quiet and pleasant place

This is a large older Resort in the style of a Mayan Palace, beautiful gardens and grounds on a private bay. The rooms are spacious, with a very nice Lobby and for restaurants to choose from. Also you are close to tennis, and a world class golf course. The service was excellent. Considering the price this was a great deal.

It was great except the Mexican Restaurant food was no good

The Room we got had black mold in the fridge cabinet (fridge should not be inclose anywhere) then they gave us an old room ,dirty mirror unwashed. Glass door seals where broken on ground floor .right beside a restaurant loud people and service carts going buy all night way over charged .the food was just like Army food. The restaurant Italian was not!

The his was our second visit to the Barcelo Karmina and it was as lovely as I remembered. The greenery, pools, service and cleanliness were top notch. No matter where one looked, day or night, there was beauty. The staff were friendly and efficient. They made us feel so welcome and took great pride in helping our vacation be stress free. Great attention to detail is given at the Barcelo from food to services and ambience. It is truly an oasis.

Grounds were beautiful & lush, filled with tropical birds & iguanas. Meticulously maintained with grounds keepers & pool boys on site every day. Resort is located within a secure country club golf course & right next door to a walkable malecon with scenic views & photo-ops. You can go out of the resort doors & walk these areas in the day time, while still being behind the secure country club gate. This portion of coastline is very tourist friendly, with several living retired in condos. Resort was luxury built, with wonderful onsite amenities. Some of the building is starting to show its age, but staff is everywhere keeping things clean & polished, making for a wonderful & comfortable experience. Beds were the most comfortable vacation beds we’ve ever slept on. Pool area: you have a couple different bars, plus waiters walking around taking drink orders, so you never have to leave your chair if you don’t want to! Private beach area has a combo of swimmable sand area & rock marine gardens you could snorkel while tide is high. Staff is friendly & always ready to take care of you. Onsite restaurants are delicious, but the buffet also has wonderful flavor & options. Downside: pools were very cold & not fun to get in; ocean was warmer. Multiple pool levels, but felt small & hard to find a quiet spot. Premier room did not come with the advertised welcome wine tray tequila bottle. Tried to upgrade room a month out but told we couldn’t until arrival, when prices were much higher.

Overall a well maintained resort. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool (several pools) Every evening there was a show…we felt the music was a bit loud. The buffet was well stocked with many choices. This is our second vacation at Barcelo’ Karmina in Manzanillo.

Staff extremely polite. The grounds were imaculate. Many pools with adult only ones was a nice feature.

We stayed here for our anniversary. We had the best time. The second day we did many of the activities and the event staff were wonderful. The shows in the evening were very well done and the extremely talented dancers and singers went to the disco afterwards and were very interactive with the guests which made the evening so enjoyable. Our main critique would be our actual room had a musty smell and the AC made a clicking sound. I would stay here again though as we honestly had a frantic time and didn’t spend much time in our room.

The staff is very disrespectful and will up charge you any any chance they get. I had booked through Expedia and I added four people and when I got there, they charged me again for the other people they said I never added Called Expedia they said they would have them wave it but the resort Barcelo still rejected and said they were still gonna charge extra. $800 extra that I wasn’t expecting there staff is rude and unprofessional

We didn't get the room with the sea view, I complain to the manager and they told me the pictures to choose the rooms, that that was only for advertisement. I think i did pay for a good room, so I didn't get what I spect it. And in the room the air-conditioner, water was leaking to the floor.

Great facility amenities and great customer service.

Was almost good, just for me was feew things didn't like. Food was ok, but i had bigger expectations, breakfast had some dishes cold when supposed be hot or at least warm. Also not many options Swimming pool didn't have bar and they didn't allow to bring drinks on it. Not much privacy between rooms, i listing last 2 nights my neighbor snoring all night, thats was ther worst about everything. Drinks supposed be "premium" and they even have any option for tequila cristalino. I guessed for the price they charge gonna be better experience but wasn't.

Never Again

We were disappointed with our experience at Barceló. Upon arrival, we were unexpectedly charged an additional $1,000 USD, which the staff attributed to an issue with Hotels.com. While we had booked a room for four, only two adults were included in the rate. Additionally, the hotel displayed cost rates valid from November 24-26, but when we arrived on November 25, those rates were not honored. Instead, we were charged according to updated, unposted prices, which were significantly higher. The food quality was mediocre at best, which was disappointing for a resort of this caliber. Lastly, our group of six family members all agreed that the overall experience fell below our expectations. Unfortunately, this is not a place we would choose to return to.

Swimming pools

We enjoyed the pool The Mexican restaurant was amazing and the service was fantastic We felt like the buffet were not as good as the last time we stayed there in April All the staff is incredible, friendly and very pleasant We will continue visiting twice a year

We visited at the end of October 2024. We visit the area often either in February or October / November because otherwise it gets super hot and humid. The property is very nice, clean, and well kept. Our room was nice and clean. There are people cleaning 24/7. One morning we woke up to have coffee during the sunrise and they were out there raking the beach. I was very impressed. Pools galore. Pretty much the outer perimeter is all pool or beach. However, none has a waterside bar. It would have been nice to have one or two to have better access to drinks. They do have waiters walking around bringing drinks but you find yourself waiting long periods of time. The breakfast buffet is very good. Dinner however was a bit lacking. The dinner buffet had odd non-Mexican food and nothing appetized me. Curry chicken? No thanks. One night the only fruit that was offered was papaya which I like, but was hard and not ripe at all. The snack bar was also lack luster. Hot dogs and hamburgers. We had stayed at other resorts where they had chicken wings, nachos, tacos, burritos, sandwiches, and many more choices. Need to pick up the pace here. My last gripe was dealing with towels. There is only 1 towel station at the end of the resort. So, needless to say if you went to the opposite side or even the middle, it was a trek to turn in or exchange towels. At least 2 more stations are needed. My gripes are small and would not detour me from visiting again. We did enjoy our stay.

Horrible bed old and bumpy Not well clean, bedding was only change once in our stay 7 nights Bars in the loby didn't open till 12 noon all other bars closed at 10 pm unless you were a the disco which open at 11 pm till 2am very disappointed Restaurants were closed most of the week our only choices were buffet and in room service same food choices every day has to go out for dinner at least 3 days

Outdated and all inclusive is very bare bones. asked to make dinner reservations and was told it could only be done in morning even though property as pretty empty

When i called to schedule airport transportation recption said there was nothing they could because it needed to be scheduled 48hours in advance. Upon arrival im told they have numerous taxis at their disposal. When checking in there was no direction as to the meal options nor where we could find more information regarding amenities. The room reaked of humid moldy conditions. The room had central air but was lovked and set at a blistering 75 degrees. The room had a ceiling fan which helped a little. Towards the end of our stay the ac completly shut off. The food at the dining hall was awful, bland with bugs and flys around the area. The pools are beautiful, the men that help with taxi service at the door are wonderful. Not sure if i would return, definitely dont think it is 5 star quality.

My family of 5 enjoyed our week stay at the Barceló Karmina. The Hotel was clean, quiet and full of different amenities and fun activities. The food was great tons of options. Great evening entertainment for the whole family. The staff was very polite, kind and helpful. We enjoyed our stay so much we would like it to become an annual family vacation.

I loved their gardens and pools. Their rooms need more insulation. I could hear a person snoring all night long. The service was excellent I would definitely stay in this hotel again.

This was my first trip out of the country and it was wonderful location. Everyone is so nice and helpful.

Family vacation

I reserved 2 rooms for 4 nights for me and my family. This is our second time coming to this resort and love it! The atmosphere is great and exterior is kept up with (pools, cabanas, restaurants, etc) but the interior is a bit outdated and had some issues that we needed to address. 1. Bathroom door was broken and would not lock properly 2. AC was not working 3.small refrigerator did not power on 4. Mattress smelled of urine We were switched to a different room and all of those issues were resolved it’s just the small things I feel especially being on the “VIP floor” that these problems shouldn’t happen as we pay extra for top tier service. Restaurants were all great just a small issue with buffet they didn’t attend to us with drinks we had to keep walking around to ask for some or they would come super late

The best kind service! People always are willing to serve you with smiles and kindness. But some included restaurants are reservation only. And extra fees are applied if you lost your room key or bracelet. Foods are great also but Expedia customers are not entitled to get full menu.

Several pools, not crowded, I did not like that I did not received the room upgrade that it was promised and the daily dining corresponding to the VIP access, the front desk was not friendly and neither the person that schedule the dining we were supposed to get specialty restaurant every night and we only got one night, other than that the hotel and facilities were the best.

The reception area very nice. The whole architecture structure very interesting. Loved the Aztec Culture representations.

Everything was good

The good: The property is beautiful and the private beach is enjoyable. The rooms are nice and clean. Many pools, 2 of them adults only. Great shows every night and lots of activities throughout the day. Raul at the grill and the lobby bartender at night were probably the best service we received during our stay. Housekeeping does a great job everyday and they stock your mini fridge and clean towels were abundant. The bad: The “Expedia VIP” is a scam. They said all we are entitled to is the rate/price at which we booked. There is no Expedia VIP. You have to wait 2 nights before you can reserve one of the restaurants. So they force you to eat at the buffet, they do not mention this at all before booking. We were told if we paid the person helping us with dinner reservations then there may be a way they can get us more dinner reservations. Imagine having to bribe the hotel for access to amenities that you should already have. The ugly: The people who manage the property are very cheap. They would randomly cut off our a/c at night and day. The room would get hot and there was no way to turn it back on. It is controlled remotely. They would do the same thing with the cable channels on the TV. The buffet food is not good at all and at night they would stop bringing items out even though the buffet is open for another hour. Overall the food really ruined our stay and we would not return.

We had a great time. We’ll definitely do it again. I would definitely recommend it to other people very nice and friendly five stars.

The Hotel Mayan/Aztec art work was great! this makes the hotel different from other hotels that are more modern. The property was clean and he options for the buffet where great.

We traveled to Barcelo Karmina for a short business trip. Hotel is very comfortable, plenty of dining options. Staff are polite and helpful, and generally speak English well. Only recommendation for improvement would be better wifi in rooms.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel for any USA Tourists to visit this hotel because the front desk employees and Ernesto the hotel front desk manager are beyond rude no smiles. My first room the restroom didn't work and I was attacked by bees! 91 Bar and restaurant employees and housekeepers were truly amazing to me and my mama! It feels that the higher the position they have in this hotel they feel they could treat people a certain way! Not my cup of tea! I have traveled a lot and this the worst customer service I have experienced. Barcelon Karmina tourists love to come back to great customer service not rude service that I received! Front desk staff are the first people we interact with arriving to check in our rooms and it was beyond disappointed. My booking said it was VIP benefits, it wasn’t. I wasn’t use to that type of customer service.

Everything was nice just not many restaurants options

The hotel bathroom was not in good condition. The door where you used to bathe did not close the shower. It was broken. The walls were very bad. I will not stay again.

The check in wasn’t easy they wanted me to email a confirmation of my reservation when usually no hotels ask me to do that and the WiFi was not very strong so it took a while didn’t like that about the check in process.
