AMAZING
Beautiful boutique hotel, nicely decorated with antique furnishings. The hotel staff are very professional and helpful. Breakfasts are excellent. The hotel is in a very convenient location, close to all the attractions. It is about a 20 minutes walk to the Central Rail Station.
A luxury, boutique hotel in the center of Catania
A luxury, boutique hotel in the center of Catania that excels at service. As a frequent visitor to Catania, I have stayed at countless hotels there and this hotel has soared to the top of my list.
Wonderful artsy palace
Loved this place. Funky art-filled restored palazzo. Very friendly and helpful staff. Delicious generous breakfast. Location is just off a pretty plaza, easy walking distance to the sights and restaurants. Wish we had more days here.
A unique experience.
My stay was fantastic! It's a stay in a modern art gallery! I was greeted with smiling faces, graciousness, and helpful information. After check in, I was given a personal tour of the property and the artwork, which I loved! My room was beautiful with a great view! Breakfast and caffe were delicious! I had a welcoming glass of wine on the rooftop, which was lovely. If the sky is clear, you can see Mt Etna from there. The hotel is centrally located, making sightseeing very accessible. If/when I return to Catania, I will be staying here!
Excellent staff; clean and unique room options and common areas.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They helped us with the parking apt. We arrived early and were check in immediately. The property is very upscale with unique art everywhere including our room. The bedroom and bathroom were very spacious. The bed was very comfortable. The amenities included a great breakfast and manager cocktail event. The building terrace on the top floor had spectacular views. We shared a bottle of wine and pizza there. The location was in the old section so it was within walking distance to all of the sites and restaurants. Parking is difficult but they had a spot for us once we arrived even though we didn't use it. Catania is a must see city and Asmondo Gisira is the place to stay.
Centrally located, reasonably priced
Fantastic location, super friendly staff, amazing unique rooms and a breakfast with the view. A perfect stay in Catania
What a find!
Stunning hotel in the heart of everything. Would highly recommend
Art Hotel of My Dreams
Amazing luxe city stay. Daphne at a check-in was so welcoming. The rooftop is to die for. Loved all the art and the history. The breakfast was able to be taken to go for my flight which we really appreciated.
Amazing stay one of the best. Excellent and friendly service.
Stay here!
Great place with great service right in the heart of things. Very unique hotel.
Most original and cool hotel where we’ve ever stayed. The staff was top-notched, very helpful and gracious. Location was excellent—next to the food and fish markets and walking distance to lots of main sights, restaurants and shopping. We stayed the night before a planned tour and liked it so much that we returned for a night after the tour and before flight home. During the second stay we heard some noise from goings on outside, but the first night’s stay was so quiet that we overslept our check-out time! Oops. Would have loved more time to enjoy the public spaces. Highly recommended!
Incredibly beautiful art museum-like hotel.
A hidden little gem in Catania! The front desk staff are so sweet and were so helpful. They spoke English which made it easier for us. An eclectic hotel with beautiful outdoor patios! HIGHLY recommend!
Unique, fun boutique hotel, great staff, center of old city
Great location, large room, amazing staff! Only some music noice on Saturday night from the surrounding bars and restaurants lasted till 2 am. It’s not the hotel’s fault, but make sure to ask for earplugs if you’re staying on Saturday! Everything else was great!!
Great location and the room was beautiful
This is a very pretty hotel located steps away from the market and very near the main square. The location is ideal. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good and our room was very nice. I would definitely go back to this hotel.
There was no where to park the car when we arrived. We had to fend for ourselves, although it is a walkable area we needed to park the car and had to go searching for a spot. Not very convenient when you have a luggage
Unique rooms, lovely balcony; an antique, historic feel to the property, with beautiful art everywhere. Central locaton. Staff friendly and helpful.
Very unique hotel. Took palace and converted to a hotel. Lots of really unique, cool artwork throughout. Fantastic breakfast (lots of food, too much). Very helpful, friendly, staff (that speak English well). Near fish market which was very fun area!!
Location location
The property is a converted palazzo on a historic square. There are only a few rooms, but they're all well decorated with great views from the balcony. The bathroom is big and modern and the bed is comfortable. Two standout features are: 1. Cocktail hour on the roof at sunset. After the sun sets you can see the small red eruptions from Etna. 2. The breakfast is top-notch and served on a scenic balcony overlooking the square. We stayed in Catania only one night and regretted not staying longer. Next trip, this will definitely be our lodging.
We loved the decor and the history of the place. Also the location.
Loved it. Beyond perfection in a city that is also beautiful.
Great location. Great staff. Amazing artwork.
The hotel is amazing and very unique. All the employees were attentive and helpful. The room was very clean and just unique as I mentioned before. Breakfast was included and had plenty of food. We were impressed with everything about our experience at the hotel
Valentina was amazing. She introduced herself to me on the stairs and asked me if she could help me in anyway. She then proceeded to show me the other two unique floors, explaining their histories and art. She also walked me to the rooftop bar, to show me the beautiful views. She went out of her way to be an inviting host!, Also, Dafne, at the front desk, was amazing with us. She arranged for a rental car to be delivered and picked up for us, explained where and how to safely park near the hotel, and helped my husband with charging his electronics! Our stay there was perfection, and the outdoor breakfasts were delicious, with a variety of choices.
It is a very unique hotel in the centre of Catania, great staff
Great room in the heart of Catania.
Staff was the best Great location and wonderful rooms
Was one of the best places we stayed in Sicily. Highly recommend and the rooms are lavish. Really memorable and the breakfast was spot on
Sooooo unique! An art Gallery you can sleep inside with a wonderful breakfast!
It was good and staff friendly
Just a wonderful hotel with amazing staff. If you’re coming to Catania I highly recommend it.
Awesome hotel!
What an amazing find! The rooms was super nice, full of all sorts of cool antiques and nice bed. The common areas where full of all sorts of cool art as well. The location was nearly perfect for exploring Catania. The staff was super helpful too. I'm 100% staying here again if I find myself back in Catania
Location: Cannot be any better. Right in the middle of the historic center, near the fish market and the Piazza del Duomo, via Etna, etc. Facilities: Super interesting. It's an old palazzo and one can experience how affluent people in Sicily used to live in the past. But it's impressive how the hotel was updated so that all modern amenities are available. Especially, the bathroom is large and superbly equipped. And double-paned windows. Service: It's not a 5-star hotel so there is no fancy stuff like turn-down service. But otherwise the ladies at the front desk are super friendly and efficient. Food: Breakfast is adequate, this is not a 5-star place with a lavish spread. But the service was friendly and competent. Conclusion: A very solid 4-star hotel in an excellent location.
This was a perfect ending to an amazing Sicily trip. The property and staff were wonderful and the breakfast over the top. Far exceeded our expectations. Would highly recommend.
Awesome property and staff! The breakfast was amazing! In the heart of all must see’s. A must stay! We will be back!
Pallazzo turned into art gallery turned into hotel
We found this hotel by accident because the original hotel we booked was terrible. This palazzo turned into an art gallery turned into a boutique hotel is amazing. In the heart of the old city you walk into a market in the morning. Place and service are top rate
Great location. Unique rooms with art all around. Excellent breakfast. Balcony was great. Easy to get to all the attractions
Interior was very uniquely decorated. Tour of the common areas were included at check-in. Big plus, property has an elevator. Breakfast was delicious and nicely presented. Having breakfast on the terrace is a must do. Suggestion, pls provide an extra waste basket for living room, body lotion & hair conditioner. Thank you Daphne, Dani and the entire staff for a pleasant stay.
Unique experience - A must in catania
Great Hotel. Very unique experience mixing art and hospitality. Very original place combining modern art in a historical building. The result is amazing. Staff are very nice, attentive and helpful. Location cant be any better, in the heart of the historical center.
It was a pleasant experience overall. The room was clean and the staff were nice and helpful. The transfer service from the hotel to the airport was great. Thank you. However, try not to book the room on the rooftop. The ceiling of the room is a seating area for the rooftop bar. There is noise until midnight or so. There is a public restroom next to the room, where people try to barge into the room thinking it is the restroom. Moreover the bathroom shares 3 windows with that public restroom. This may be a nice setup for other people, but it was not for me, unfortunately.
Beautiful hotel, excellent service
Great stay in this beautiful hotel in central Catania. Staff very professional and helpful. Would definitely recommend!
Beautiful, well maintained historic building.
Wonderful stay - beautiful room with a very comfortable bed. Super quiet despite being very close to local attractions and shopping. And the staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again if I return to Catania.
The hotel is in the center of the town. It’s property is beautiful. The staff was super nice and helpful. The room was big and nicely decorated.
The hotel was amazing- really interesting space. Perfect location to see all sights. The staff was superb! Incredibly kind and helpful!
The staff was super friendly and the service was excellent. Since the arrival till we left. The property it's amazing. We will be back.
A terrific staff and the hotel is beautiful.
Beautiful and interesting place and the staff is wonderful. They even came and got us when we were lost.
Unique spot , friendly staff and delicious breakfast
Its an amazing experience not just a hotel stay.
absolutely amazing place, its not like any other hotel stay its an experience. Staff, cleanliness, position, breakfast, rooms perfect. If you into art or just like nice things around you this place is a visual overload. If your staying in Catania this is the hotel to pick.
A truly unique experience complete with excellent service. 10/10 will be back!
Truly amazing experience! It’s a gem!
The Staff was super friendly and helpful, breakfast was delicious, generous and served on a lively terrace, the hotel was unique and very engaging. The only issue is that there was a loud party event going on in the entire hotel past midnight and we had an early morning flight the next day.
Asmundo is in a great location. Walkable in all directions of downtown Catania. The staff was great! Super attentive and nice. Check in and check out super pleasant. The hotel is a boutique, very artistic in all regards. Not traditional hotel. My girlfriend, an art history major, loved it! Very historic building with lots of charm and well kept up. The views from our balcony into the square below were beautiful. Highly recommend. Only caveat - parking is a challenge - but that's true everywhere in downtown Catania too. Driving downtown also is tough. So, I wouldn't recommend bringing a car here. That said, I did - and the staff were wonderful in getting me set up with a garage about 10 minutes away.
Our stay in Catania
Great place to stay in Catania , beautiful & quirky little hotel with very helpful and friendly staff 👍
The property is beautiful and atmospheric. The art is almost overwhelming and runs the gamut from contemporary to ancient. My room had the feel of tradition with the amenities of the current day. There was difficulty with the wifi.
A perfect Palazzo Boutique Hotel
Perfect boutique hotel. Stunning room with large terrace. Sumptuous breakfast. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Great location near bars and restaurants. Sites are walkable. Not an issue for us but do expect a little street noise in the morning. It did not disturb us.
Thanks for a great stay!
The workers there were excellent and incredibly friendly and helpful. It was refreshing in a time where hotels do less and less. Location was excellent as it was close to many great restaurants and attractions.
The staff, architecture and art was amazing.
Quirly hotel but probably not worth the money
Very quirky lovely hotel. Room was a good size and very nice shower faciltiies. Well located. However for a hotel of that price point i would expect certain small things which were missing such as water in the room (not even a small complimentary bottle, and only two cans of water in the minibar), "roof terrace" was a bit dirty and damp when we went up, clearly not used by guests or the hotel very often. So.. fab hotel and location, reception staff were lovely, but youd probably only use it as somewhere to sleep rather than to actually hang out in, and so probably not worth it for that price point.
A modern art gallery combined with a hotel on the upper floors of an old palazzo building. Staff were sweet and helpful. Location could not be better. Room was large, quiet at night, working AC. Breakfast was a lovely selection of local pastries, cheeses and salami with freshly squeezed orange juice and quality coffee. Terrace on the roof rather hot and dusty in July so we did not linger. So many fantastic places to eat and drink all around.
Great hotel, will stay there next time for sure!
Loved this hotel
This place is great!
Art and Luxury
Like staying in a friendly art museum. Beautiful, thoughtful decor everywhere. Incredibly attentive and professional staff. Just a beautiful stay in a perfect location - the heart of Catania's market district.
Our time at Asmundo di Gisira was akin to staying at a museum. The breakfast room had lovely wall art, and our room was well-apportioned. However, I believe this is NOT the place for an active traveler. It is more suited for someone who chooses to sleep-in on vacation, and have a day of lounging. Also NOT the place to stay if you have a flight at 9 a.m. (or earlier) as you will not receive the breakfast that is part of your room price. This is also NOT the place to stay if you don't want to micromanage your vacation. We scheduled a winter hike of Etna, requiring us to leave the hotel at 7:45. Thus, we were informed that we could not have the included breakfast. We thought it nice that a breakfast bag was prepared for us - until we saw what was inside it: two child-size juice boxes; two "fizzy" waters (who drinks fizzy waters on a hike?!?); two finger-sized pastry; two packages of saltines; and ONE Lidl mini chocolate bar (for us to split?!?). PERFECT for a person that is on a diet (I guess?!) and maybe ONE person (not two...!!!). I also advised the front desk upon check-in that we also had a 9 a.m. flight on Monday and would require a "takeaway" breakfast as well that morning, as well as boarding passes printed. Well, you can probably guess, come Monday morning as our taxi awaited, NO boarding passes printed (although sent at 4:45 p.m the afternoon before to the email given to me) and NO breakfast bag (because I didn't "confirm" - huh? That my flight was exactly
My room was up 53 steps due to a broken elevator that was not available for guests for a number of months. No one at the hotel was even remotely interested in getting the elevator repaired. The hotel's location was actually beyond fantastic. Hotel had no sign on the outside; very strange.
Amazing
It’s one of the best hotels I stayed at with very friendly staff and unforgettable interior design
The people at reception were very helpful. However, there is no elevator and there is no signage outside the hotel. The room was large but a terrible use of space. Two twin beds almost on top of each other and the lighting options were awful. There were bright bulbs and red bulbs. There was a step UP to the sleeping area and another to the bathroom. The rain shower came sideways out of the wall not from the top. Very little counter space for your cosmetics but a huge bathroom. As I stated, this room made very poor use of it's space. I thought the price was very high for the services rendered. One small bottle of "free" natural water was provided with the room. I would not stay here again.
Beautiful place, feels like a palace and especially the roof top terrace! We saw a shooting star there August 27, 21! So grand and dreamy!
Staff was great. Hotel is very art oriented. Beautiful.
stylish and exciting. located in a real market. but light bulbs didn't work
The roof terrace was spectacular. The art in our room was frightening but the staff agreed to cover it with a sheet.
I loved the uniqueness of this property! Every bedroom had its own quirks. The roof top terrace was great to have access to.
It's quirky
This is a small palazzio hotel with a great location near to the main market in Catania. The building is full of eccentric art and this is enough to make it a memorable place to stay. A slight downside was that the bathroom (at least in our room) was not that well put together; the shower leaked and the sink would not empty. Small problems and we enjoyed our stay.
A wonderful Hotel in a great location. The service was impeccable. We were given a detailed historical tour of the Hotel and significance of the Art works. The hotel had a nice relaxed atmosphere and the decor was fabulous with a sense of humour. Throughout our stay the service was wonderful. The breakfast was superb, great choice and served in a lovely location.
Good if quirky hotel in central Catania
Lovely if very quirky hotel. Large rooms with excellent bathroom. Surprisingly quiet for the centre of Catania. Quirkinesses is due to lots of contemporary art around the building including a 4m high flamingo and catwoman. Lovely breakfast served on a terrace overlooking the city.
The most amazing hotel I ever stayed, Other than internet speed is not working well in bedroom, everything else was beyond expectations. highly recommended!
Excellent staff, extremely convenient, very helpful 😃
The artwork amazing Service fab Breakfast-yummy
Unique hotel with fascinating art all over. Very welcoming staff. Excellent breakfast offering a variety of local products. Superb location. There’s even a small elevator. I suggested they provide tissues in the rooms and they were receptive.
Very unique and quirky hotel - full of surprising art work. Once you step inside it is like another world though the front door is hard to find ! Breakfast was lovely - lots of choices and the staff very helpful. Lovely stay in Catania as it located really central to restaurants and site seeing.
5 star
Perfect! Loved everything about it.
Amazing little find in Catania! What a fantatic place! The staff were very welcoming and full of information about the history of the building! The roof top terrace was great and the balcony where they set up breakfast is just incredible! The room and the bed was extremely comfortable! Would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting somewhere a little bit different :)
There isn't really a sign for the hotel but once you enter its simply incredible, from the decor to the artwork to the first class amenities.
This has been a unique experience. A 17th century palazzo with all the modern amenities inside, and a dedicated staff. It is smack in the center of old Catania, so when you step out of your hotel the real taste of Sicily is all around you. Staying in this hotel, even for just 1 night is an experience 1 must not miss,
Unique stay in city centre art gallery!
We only stayed for two nights, but absolutely loved it. The building has been carefully restored and adorned with unique artwork, for admiring, and creating great photo opportunities! Our room was at the very top of the building, allowing us privacy, and usually the terrace to ourselves. Bathroom products are top quality, and breakfast was plentiful, delicious and beautifully presented - and you can enjoy it whilst watching the city come to life across the Piazza. The overall location is perfect for getting around sightseeing, and you enter the hustle and bustle of an Italian market as soon as you leave the hotel gates.
The overall experience was marred by the fact that the property has a problem with the water supply. The day we stayed we had no water to bath in the evening after a long day up Mt Etna and still no water in the morning. A property without water cant be called a hotel.
This was by far the most amazing hotel I have stayed in. The decor and artwork was stunning. The staff were lovely and helpful and breakfast was delicious and location perfect. 11 out of 10
Excellent place, outstanding service. Maybe, the breakfast could be better.
It was perfect! Beautiful hotel, excellent location and helpful staff!
Unique, quirky but pleasant
Unique and quirky hotel. Very good breakfast and cappuccinos (or your choice of drink) to startyour day, comfy bed, fairly quiet (the market sets up outside the windows every morning). Floor has multiple short steps, rather hazardous in the middle of the night. Light fixtures are more for looks and provide adequate light, but rather harsh. Decor is a bit strange, and fragile. Moved some of the pieces to avoid breakage. High end bathroom fixtures, roomy closet, soft towels, and nice bedding. Good WiFi included. Definitely not for anyone who can’t handle steps, not for children. Helpful pleasant staff. If you are up for something different this is a great choice.
We have been in many hotels and this one will always standout! Really premier classe.

The moment when we reached to hotel it was like fairytale from check-in to check-out. It was a kind of Fabalous palace. The amazing decoration with the best view in the town. Especially daphne was amazing. She is so kind and helpfull. Thanks for everything. I highly recommend this place
