Staff were so lovely. Great facilities and really well kept. We loved the extra touches in the rooms and daily servicing. Breakfast was so good. I don't normally like a buffet breakfast but there was a lot of choice and it was good quality too, frequently topped up.

Great place Rooms Staff Facilities Area

The restaurant service was appalling. The staff were good but the cooks couldn’t cope resulting in long waits between courses. In the morning we were told we only have one coffee machine so you’ll have to wait!! I like my coffee with my breakfast and not 15 minutes after I’ve finished. Shame how the kitchen fails the hotel. After such bad service on our first night we ate out rather than be disappointed.

The lack of a proper outdoor spa in either of the pool areas is a surprising drawback for a facility of this quality.

Excellent stay. First time guest.

When we arrived, 7 minutes before checkin, we were told we had to wait until the exact checkin time. When we went back to the desk we were told the systems were down & they could not check us in. I’m not sure why the first young lady felt the need to lie to us. They accompanied us to our room so we could get into it, however no one ever came back to give us our keys or check us in. I needed to go back down to reception & tell them I still hadn’t been checked in. We weren’t given any information on the facilities, breakfast, etc. I had to follow up on my own to find out about the resort. We did find Justin very helpful and he did his best to help us out. The resort itself is in a lovely location & the rooms were quite comfortable.

All excellent but the Aircondition is noisy

the hotel is very tired needs refurbishing. my safe was not even useable . New Safe required I booked two rooms and paid extra for uninterrupted views received one room as requested the second room had restricted views Unable to access room before 3pm which I feel is very late in the day.. Had to request hand wash bottle be filled as it was empty..But in saying this the beds and linen was clean

Noice

The property, amenities and brunch were world class. Coming from California for our first Australia visit- I was shocked with the overall kindness of the locals throughout our eastern AU journey. The Anchorage property took hospitality to another level beyond what we’re accustomed to in most US properties. Bravo Anchorage! We will return to Australia - perhaps permanently..?.

For the price you would expect the rooms to be updated and in much better condition.The room was older and dated. This is not a cheap hotel so I expected something updated. In my opinion the cleaning of the hotel was not up to standard, though the hotel was fully booked so I know the cleaners would have been extremely busy. That being said the location was good, if you are looking for somewhere quieter. The restaurant was exceptional, both food and the service.We had a lovely dinner. The breakfast buffet was as good as any 5 star hotel. Staff were nice and friendly at this resort and restaurant.

The Anchorage is an excellent accommodation- it certainly exceeds their official four star rating. The staff are friendly, the facilities great for families, the beach is conveniently by the premise. I also loved the small touches - the complimentary watermelon at the adults only pool and the small gift at check out. I am planning on returning.

We had some issues with our booking being asked to pay an additional extra $400 to cover our 3 year old and 6 year old kids even though the room remained the same and amenities didn't change. Otherwise it's a great resort with a very premium feel.

Bathroom could’ve been a bit cleaner apart from that everything else was pretty good

It was our first stay at the Anchorage having been recommended by friends and we were not disappointed. Our room overlooking the Marina was beautiful. The champagne breakfasts were amazing as was our anniversary dinner at the Galley Kitchen. We could not fault it. We would gladly come back.

Shame about the faulty aircon

Massive shame that the aircon in the loft suite did not work and made a shrieking noise while trying, as for summer it’s a necessity in those high rooms as they get to high 20’s in temp - made sleep under a fan only near unbearable. Everything else amazing. Breakfast sensational. Pools. Service outstanding.

Very good location, great facilities and friendly welcoming staff

Having been here many times, we were not disappointed. We enjoyed our short stay and will surely return as soon as we can.

A quiet, peaceful and tranquil staycation

I liked the hotel in general, but the food menue can be improved in terms of food variety and portions.

A good place

Amazing Staff, Amazing Room, quiet location

From start to finish the attention to detail from the staff in particular Lax Dissanayake, Manager who immediately focused on a concern, to Angela in the service/food section, to Debbie in housekeeping, the comfort and service was impeccable, you are sure to be impressed by the level of service and care the staff have to make your stay enjoyable. I will definitely recommend the Anchorage and return in the future.

fantastic hotel.

Simply one of the best and nicest hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying in! Every member of staff Managers, bar staff front desk, room cleaners, restraunt were so friendly and helpful. The food was amazingly , location was stunningly beautiful. Id you are thinking about or have an opportunity to stay at thus hotel. I would strongly recommend that you do.

First time staying here - the staff were all very friendly, our room was lovely and the grounds were well kept. It's a very pretty hotel and a good location for visiting things in the area. Would recommend.

Very nice place to stay for a breakaway!

A fabulous venue only a short drive to “downtown”. Furnishings in our room were showing signs of age. Nice glass of bubbles on arrival. The upstairs bar great place to sit and vegetate, but food served there was ordinary.

The anchorage is a lovely place to stay. We had a water view which was great. The breakfast was delicious!!!! The only things missing was a hot spa when its too cold to swim and a small freezer in the room. I would definitely stay again!

Awesome place but not enough lights on the entrance of the resort at night

What an exceptional property! Absolutely beautiful. The loft was so gorgeous. The welcome drink and great buffet breakfast helped make it special. The view of the marina was breath taking.

Loved every minute of our stay - we didn’t want to leave. The staff were absolutely amazing and the decor was stunning!

It was a lovely outlook over the water especially from our room, very quiet and peaceful! The food was excellent and the staff were amazing, also the rooms were very clean and updated!! I can highly recommend it and will definitely be going back!!

Beautiful place to stay

The Anchorage is a fabulous place to stay and the buffet breakfast is really really good. Only downside was a very noisy air con in our room to the point we had to turn it off to be able to sleep. Service and location are perfect. I would recommend staying there.

What a lovely elegant place! All the staff were super friendly, the dining was first rate and they were careful of our allergies. We highly recommend this place!

Beautiful but not what I expected

Have always wanted to stay here and was slightly disappointed. My room choice didn’t have the view I was expecting the bed didn’t look out to view. The tv channels didn't work. The hot food for breakfast was very dry. The dinner was not pleasant. Entree’s were good but main was dry again. The pool area is lovely but there was no drink service slightly uncomfortable with diners looking straight at you. The 2nd breakfast was disturbed by workman drilling as they did repairs at 8.45 in the morning right next to veranda. Lovely chocolates were given for my birthday and a welcome drink which was a lovely surprise but everything else fell short. Very noisy slamming doors in hallways early in morning so not much sleep was had. Also had trouble getting the aircon right was so cold and noisy we had trouble adjusting it. Overall the hotel is beautiful pick your room wisely I had asked for high floor to get best view and was talked into getting lower floor so as to not have to climb stairs. I would have preferred to do the stairs to have a view as that was why I came to this hotel.

Amazing venue with beautiful views over Port Stephens. The dinner at night was excellent; the property is maintained extremely well. The bed was very comfortable and the room was large. The only issue was the air conditioner fan was a little noisy.

Simply stunning property - every aspect of my stay was next level. The little touches make all the difference in taking a holiday from a great one to and absolutely wonderful one and the Anchorage, Port Stephens was exactly that!!

Relaxing Hamptons style resort

As always the relaxing atmosphere and attentive staff helped to make our short stay memorable. It is a quiet Hamptons style waterfront resort with picturesque sunsets over the marina from the bar. Thanks once again particularly to Ali and Angela. The Gallery restaurant meals are fabulous as are champagne breakfasts. We love the adults pool, with recently extended deck. Lots of small touches add to the stay like icy watermelon offered poolside by waiters. The addition of a gelato bar and shop will be great when we next visit. Highly recommend for a relaxing getaway.

Beautiful accommodation in Nelsonbay. Lots of things to see and do with a short drive. Pool was available. We were lucky to see some dolphins in the bay in front of the place.

Beautiful, well maintained and clean Hampton style accommodation in a very quiet and peaceful location. Added bonus Dolphins turning up as you watch the sunset. Breakfast choices were endless even with me being a coeliac I had my separate toaster and GF cereal and cakes. I very enjoyable couple of days away for my birthday.

Exquisite stay

Exquisite three nights stay in luxury accommodation. My friend had a severe mushroom allergy and the staff bent over backwards to accommodate her.

how quiet it was this time of year, which was what we wanted for the weekend, very enjoyable great place to stay.

Our family thoroughly enjoys Anchorage. We have had the pleasure of visiting multiple times and each visit has left us feeling as if we were right at home. The exceptional service received from the staff creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. Beyond the impeccable service, the unbeatable view adds a touch of elegance to our stay. The receptionist, in particular, stands out for their friendliness and even offers a refreshing beverage while waiting for check-in. Without a doubt, we will be returning to Anchorage in the future.

Worlds best kept location

Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We had the breakfast buffet in the morning which was great, coffee was very nice. Our room was very clean and tidy, great view of the ocean and comfortable bed. Will definitely stay again.

Wife’s birthday getaway

Very welcoming staff, excellent choice for the buffet breakfast, lovely view from the the room over the marina for sunset and sunrise. Spacious room with great amenities and comfort.

Lovely property in beautiful location

Upon arrival, we were greeted with friendly staff and a drink. The room was clean and comfortable. Plenty of water in the shower and although small, we had everything we needed. Great place to relax and unwind. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful so we'll definitely be returning.

Great hotel with resort-style pool. I loved all the extra touches like the sparking wine on arrival and watermelon at the pool. Staff were super friendly as well.

Great pool area and nice restaurants on the premises. The rooms are quiet and the staff are very helpful. The Rick Stein restaurant was outstanding. Julio's while in a great location overlooking the pool, was just ok.

It is a family friendly resort, the view is nice and the pool is warm and clean. Only down side is the noise of the air condition inside the room is a bit loud during the night.

The service is polite, engaging and receptive. Rooms are well maintained and amenities excellent with Molton Brown toiletries that add that extra little something.

We had a wonderful stay. Relaxing by the pool, great service, lovely weather, beautiful property. Would definitely recommend for a lovely get away.

A boutique classy establishment in a fantastic spot that is well worth it. Maybe more expensive than other places but from the welcome champagne, the excellent service and amazing food it’s worth it! Comfortable beds, fantastic bathroom with rain shower, happy hour and two pools… Will definitely return!

Welcoming greeting upon arrival, met with a glass of sparking which is a great way to start a holiday.

The room is spacious and very clean. Love the balcony with the stunning water views. Watching sunrise and sunset from the property was so beautiful.

5 star stay

Stayed here for my husbands surprise birthday. It was the perfect stay. Everything had a beautiful touch. We had champagne bottle on arrival for his birthday, complimentary sparkling vouchers, beautiful buffet breakfast, quiet and beautiful rooms, exquisite views of the harbour, close proximity to the beach next door, close proximity to shops. A perfect family trip away with our 1 year old. We loved it so much that we are keen to come back for a longer stay. Thank you for such a luxurious and family friendly environment.

Stunning position with the marina and beach. Champagne on arrival is a nice touch. Rooms are very basic however nice. Buffet breakfast could be better.

I don’t like the way the restaurant is not available to have friends in for lunch or dinner or coffee. It does mot have a welcoming feel anymore. We stay because we also use marina.

Nice 3 day break

Great stay, room very comfortable however not soundproof enough as we had to listen to the couple next door having intercourse each night. Not particularly pleasant.

Overall the hotel is nice . Room was a bit dark and gloomy. Food in restaurant was great. Receptionist on arrival was not very friendly and provided no info to us about the facilities/ restaurant etc.

Relaxing and fun

My second time to the Anchorage and it was amazing. Staff are really good and wanted to help and the location and facilities are awesome. I highly recommend this location to just chill out and enjoy the sun and pool

Fantastic hotel in a beautiful location. Well designed and maintained, friendly, helpful staff. Nestled on the shores of Port Stephens it is a relaxing place to spend time.

Disappointing customer service. We arrived early before our room was ready at around lunch time. They told us we could go to the pool so we found a quiet area and sat down and had some of our packed lunch. An old man who worked there took the time to walk over to us and tell us eating our own food is only allowed in our private rooms not anywhere else. He made us feel like kids and were so embarrassed after only 5 mins of arriving. the man wasn’t dressed in work clothes but later we found out he was the General Manager Ali. He didn’t even greet us, say hello or introduce himself- just proceeded to tell us to stop eating. So rude. We came to celebrate my husbands birthday which I made a note of while booking. We got to the room and they had left champagne with a card addressed to me instead of my husband saying happy birthday. It’s the small things that count and the lack of detail was a disappointment. Customer service is not 5 star and certainly does not match the quality property.
