We stayed in a studio cabin which was small but perfect for a family of four who is going to be out doing activities most of the time. It was quite new and spotlessly clean. The cabins have their own wifi which was also great. The bed was a bit on the soft side but that’s all personal preference. The only knock is that the shower had really poor water pressure (cabin 98). The clubhouses had showers as well and the pressure was great. Overall, we would love to stay there again.
Booking
I rented a cabin and a RV spot we were not close. No Wi-Fi so we couldn’t communicate. We were crammed into a spot super small spot so every time we wanted to cook I had to bring everything in the truck to the cabin and it was a lot of work. I wish when you book a cabin there was some way of booking a rv spot close by.
Trip to Coastline
Perfect location for checking out Newport and Florence.
Very nice
Friendly staff and lots of games to keep busy. The kitchenette is perfect for short stay! We'd love to come back!
Beautiful place to stay but the cabin wasnt so clean and had a smell. We stayed here last year and it was perfect everything was clean and nice. Not sure what happened this time around. Very friendly staff. I think there needs to be better communication on whats available when you stay there and if the cabins have a kitchen or not. We will definitely be back again.
We had an excellent stay in our studio cabin. The staff was very friendly and provided us with extra towels and coffee filters. Beach was a short walk away and the indoor pool and hot tub was nice and clean. Would highly recommend.
For us, a touch cramped. With so many RV campers there, we choose against using amenities. We knew about no housekeeping but couldn’t a bed at least be made for arrival? Our cabin too close to entrance, took away from a private nature experience. TV remote did not work. Cleaning tools hung too close to dinner table. Nice wood and clean. This could be a lot of fun for families that like the planned activities. Just not a fit for our private couple’s getaway.
It was really quiet at night. But, we paid more for a bigger cabin and we though it was a nicer cabin. It wasn't. The other cabins were way newer. Our more expensive cabin was noticeably older, smelled, couch was torn up, need was not a queen as advertised but a small full with a twin bunk above, floor was really dirty, old musky cabin smell. I don't know what the cleaning staff cleans but it wasn't the floor. I wouldn't of minded the cabin if we didn't pay more for it and if it actually looked like it was worth the price. Definitely not worth what we paid for THAT cabin. The others surrounding it, i would pay for.
Great place to stay with easy access to the beach.
Cozy cabin and I was able to plug my Tesla in
Comfy, cozy, clean cabin!! Great for 2 people, but it'd be pretty close quarters for 4. Super friendly and nice ranger at check-in, too! There was also a 110 electrical outlet by the front door so I was able to plug my Tesla in overnight and get a few charge percents, which is a great help in this supercharger desert.
Pool doesn’t work and spa was cold. Fire alarm went off every-time we tried to cook something. Cabin was nice and roomy. They sell firewood which we helpful
Back to nature
Beautiful natural surroundings. Closes everything too early so didn’t take advantage of any. Pool closed. Closest grocery store is quite far.
Great stay!
For the second year in a row, we stayed at Whalers Rest. The cabin was delightful, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The weather could have been better but what can one expect from the Oregon coast in December. We loved it and will be back.
A wonderful place to stay. Staff was friendly amd very helpful.
Great stay in the beach.
Lovely little cabins. Will retun for sure
The cabin itself was in great condition. The beds were sufficient but not the most comfortable, and the pillows provided were very thin. The check-in/check-out kiosk was rarely staffed, so it took a while to get checked in since we had to wait for someone to come to the kiosk. I did not have phone service at Whalers Rest. Overall we had a very nice, relaxing stay. The cabin was very clean, and the kitchen and bathroom were great. The staff, when there, was very friendly and helpful.
Awesome
Great place, and great people working there. We had a problem with our cabin, the heat did not work. They worked with me on a solution and we ended up having a great trip except for the weather. Will definately go there again!
S
The TV in the cabin had the wrong remote control therefore we could not watch TV the first night because the ranger station was closed so we had to wait till the next morning. The floors were very dirty. The bathroom shower had some like mold stuff we had to disinfect. And I have stayed in a cottage in the past and did not have this type of issue. This was a TT cabin that we stayed in although I don’t think it should’ve made any difference and with the Covid, I think their Should have been extra care taken in cleaning. When we departed we had everything cleaned with bleach and the floors mopped so it was ready for the next occupant.
Nice location and friendly staff. Cabins are pretty close together which makes it awkward when your neighbors aren't friendly. Overall had a nice time
It's close enough to the beach, but across the busy and dangerous 101. Also, the studio cabins are SMALL. We were OK knowing we didn't have a cooktop in the cabin and were prepared to grill everything, but our grill ignitor button didn't work. So we had to improvise and use matches with the gas on. All in all, it was fine. But I likely won't stay there again.
Ome sweet home
Loved the stay! It felt like a home away from home. The staff that checked us in was very friendly.
Excellent! I will come back!
I am not easy to please however staying at Whalers resort was excellent! I had been worried about allergies and the condition of the bed but I had no allergies and the bed was extremely comfortable! The only struggle I had was with the condition of the Wi-Fi. However, I was there to visit family andGo see different sites so the Wi-Fi was a mild concern.
It definitely was a good place for the family and even the pets the cabins was not supposed to have pets but they let as have them with not problem
Family weekend away
Check in was fast and friendly. The cottage was very clean. The cottage had a loft with two twin beds and the kids loved it. Short walk to beach, but careful crossing HiWay101. Definitely will stay again.
Could have cleaned the floors a bit better,ex. Swept under the beds, couch
The beds were a little smaller than we expected, and the cabin seemed old, but everything was very clean and well-supplies.
Wish we had booked at at different time.
The staff and resort are awesome. Unfortunately, due to the Covid19 most amenities were not available. When things return to normal we would love to visit again.
Rain drops
Loved the cabin. It was very quaint and comfortable. We swam in indoor pool and lounged in hot tub. Nice stay.
I loved this place. Everything was very clean and well cared for. The people that run it are very helpful and nice. I will be returning again. It’s very convenient to get to and close to Newport but you feel very disconnected to the outside world. Just exactly what I needed. Lots of thing to do there. It’s a nice safe place to take kids.
Price, location, quiet, liked studio cabin option, clean, safe
Cute, cozy, and clean!
Our stay was fantastic! Because something had happened with the cabin we reserved upon arrival, they didn’t hesitate to give us a free upgrade to their newest cabin. It was so cute, and the cabin was cozy and clean. We loved our stay!
cabins are nice had next to the ocean camp area was quite camp area had everything was a nice place to stay at taking my whole family next year
Family Trip
It was wonderful
Mattress needs to be replaced. Other than that it was a great little cabin
Overall, nice place and very clean. Charging for the tv and not mentioning that in the ad a bit of a problem. The tennis courts were poor. The cabin we rented was awesome though.
The locations is good. Unfortunately our cabin had mice in the cupboards of the kitchenette. When I went to make dinner I found mouse droppings on many of the pots and pans and other dishes.
Comfy tiny cabin
Felt new inside. Very clean and cozy. Pretty tight for the 3 of us adults, but doable for 3 days. Not on the water side of 101,but in trees.
Whaler's Rest
Cabin was charming but very small and claustrophobic. The sofa bed was extremely uncomfortable both to sit on and to sleep. There was no comfortable furniture to sit and visit at all. The spa was out of order the full two and a half days we were there and they vacuumed the pool during adult swim. Costs were too high for the value. WiFi was non-existent.
Great vacation destination
This was a great place to stay at for our family vacation. We all wish we could have stayed longer because there is so much to do but we didn't have enough time to do it all. The cabin was perfect! The 5 of us slept comfortably, it was very nice inside, all dishes and utensils were provided including a full size coffee maker and toaster, nice area outside too with a picnic table, propane BBQ and fire pit. The only thing I didn't like was having to pay an extra $15 per bed for the use of their linens, it comes with sheets and blankets and pillows and towels, but still those things are usually included. Overall though, we loved staying there and we will be going back again.
Great place to watch eclipse
Comfortable, friendly and efficient staff, cabin had all we needed, clean. Stayed at cabin site for eclipse and had a perfect view. Short walk to beautiful beach.
Clean, quiet cottage
Four adults rented a cottage at Whaler's RV Resort for two nights. The cottage we rented was immaculate, there were nice modern touches not often seen in rustic cottages: the bathroom had a built-in night light, the shower rod was curved to allow extra space in the shower, TVs (2), DVD player, and sorta Wifi. The resort was quiet at night. The staff were helpful. I chuckled at the fact we were given bed linens but required to make our own beds. The resort is across the highway from the beach ... are you brave and fleet of foot? The biggest negative was the queen bed in the main bedroom. It was the most uncomfortable bed imaginable and the couple whose bed it was chose to sleep in their car rather than sleep in that bed a second night.
Our stay
Cabin was beautiful and very clean, the staff were amazing, only negative was the resort was kind of run down.
Choice of cabin
We had an amazing time but don't recommend a cabin with one bedroom and sofa for a family of four as it is too small. Beach and ocean were amazing. No WIFI in the cabins.
Great for us, was our mid point, then day trips
Very good was a little surprised with no linens or towels. But we're very happy with our stay!!
Nice getaway
It had everything I needed. It was a bit tight with the table between the bed and kitchen, but doable
Ok for family that truly wants to get away.
The beach that is 100 yards away is across Hwy 101. There is no WiFi. The only internet is wired and in the 'Internet Room' If you arrive after 11 PM--Beware! You have to park your car at the office and wait until they open at 8 AM. The people were very nice, the site was very clean, and the price was good.
This is so totally worth staying at
This place was awesome and we would stay there again. The cabin was small, but perfect for the two of us. There was a queen bed, a bunk bed, a kitchenette, and bathroom, and a front porch with chairs and table. There was a BBQ we could have used as well. We got the pet cabin and they included a towel, sheet, and a few doggie bags for our dog. What an awesome idea! We had to purchased the use of sheets, blankets and towels. It only included 2 towels (we would have preferred 2) for $12. The rangers were friendly and helpful and suggested a place for us to eat (Geogie's). There was a grassy area close to cabin and some other areas around to take the dog potty. They have activities for people to do, adults and families, especially on weekends. The only thing negative is there was no internet in the cabin. There is internet in the club houses. They have an indoor pool and spa, which we did not use.
Great vacation rental
I love coming here & will be back again. Loved the call to ensure whether or not wet wanted linens, which are an extra charge. But we live bringing our own blankets, so no big deal. Staff are so nice!
