The property isnt big so you have time to do things slowly and makes it more enjoyable. I highly recommend the Spa where the service is amazing and the Photographer who took some awesome pictures. The pictures was so good my wife and I ended up buying a photo package.

A little time in paradise

This is the second time we visited Velassaru, great stay and location, close to Male only 25-30 mins away by speed boat. It is a little place of paradise, especially if you are looking to get out of the city and disconnect. It is a small island but there is always something to do. The personal is very friendly, always with a smile on their faces, and helpful. In terms of food, we had a half-board option which provided a great variety of food options. The only little disappointment was one of the restaurants for lunch the food quality/taste has changed compared to 2018, it has decreased and that is a pity. But for the rest, create complimentary activities, we loved the live music performance and the DJ night

Staff dedication, support and friendliness

Velassaru is about a 20-30 min boat ride from Mele. The boat they use is big, air conditioned and very comfortable so don't worry about being sea sick! The property is beautiful and immaculately maintained, it truly is a little piece of paradise. We stayed in the sunset side bungalows, #308 over the water, they are completely private with their own pool and a much needed breeze. We bought the full board package which included buffet breakfast, ala cart lunch and buffet dinner. All were delicious, we were very impressed. Our flight did not leave until 11pm at night so they very kindly let us stay in our room until 7pm, 12pm is their usual check out time. We arrived at 10pm unfortunately, due to the weather were unable to get to the hotel so they took us to their sister property close by. We were then taken the next day at 10:30am to Velassaru. We rode to the hotel with a group of travel agents who had been to Valassaru before, they said it was their favorite property in the Maldives.....I am beyond impressed with the property and would highly recommend it.

Our stay at Velassaru was amazing. We spent 12 days on the island, and did not want to leave... The level of service and dedication of the staff are beyond the words. The hotel is ideal for family or romantic getaway. The island is very small and that makes it really quiet and peaceful. You can see Male as it is really close by, but on the other hand you don't need to spent extra hours for getting to the island. Highly recommend this hotel to all lovers of the tranquil holidays.

A stunning resort with great beaches and activities/ experiences. Especially the snorkeling trips. Service was impeccable from moment we arrived at the airport to the moment we go back into the airport

Really amazing resort

Our first visit to Velassaru was magical so we were gutted when our second visit had to be cancelled due to the pandemic lockdown. We finally managed to book and we're so glad we did because they have managed to keep that level of quality up there. Velassaru is a luxury resort which means its priced as such but your so spoiled with gorgeous beaches, excellent service and a range of different restaurant options to cater for most tastes. And of you don't find what you like, the chefs have no problem going off menu to accommodate your requirements. We're still in love with this place and will be going back. Highly recommended.

The team at Velassaru are incredible - so welcoming and attentive - they literally made the trip! The island and facilities are excellent - fantastic food options and overall a great place to spend time. Can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed interacting with the staff - they showed such passion for their jobs and ensuring we had a marvelous stay. Already planning a trip back!

Velassaru Maldives did not disappoint. Beautiful waters and tranquil sea made swimming enjoyable. Property is kept in pristine condition. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Farahun from housekeeping was amazing. I looked forward to returning to the room after he was done organizing it. If you’re looking for a luxurious and relaxing experience, I definitely recommend this place.

Nice and quiet resort

It’s a very kid friendly resort and the staff service is good - they go extra mile to make sure guests have an excellent, comfortable and memorable stay.

We felt like we are in paradise! Island is small and cozy. People are so friendly. The food was amazing and hotel decorated perfectly beautiful.

Everything . Stunningly beautiful island . Superb large welcoming pool . Fantastic accommodation with wonderful outside showers set amongst greenery . The spa was a great experience. Only minor negative is need for more veg options for meals . Otherwise faultless !

Price of food was crazy. All inclusive can only be used from 11 to 11. Before or after you have to pay. Example $7 for a diet coke. If you want drinks to your room you pay. No drink service at the beach. Not really an all inclusive. Plus, although quiet and lovely, you were bored to tears. No entertainment loader than a whisper and also ends at 11. Not for those who want to have fun.

The customer service exceeded our expecttaion. We were well taken off throughout our stay at Velassaru Maldives. Alot of dining options for us to choose from. Staff were kind and helpful. We will definitely visit Velassaru again in the near future.

One of the Best

Our stay here was exceptional, the staff and Chef Wasantha (Vela restaurant) catered for all our needs. Our booking was made 2 days prior to flying out, the staff arranged all our airport transfers without any issues. Food, location and accommodation was excellent. the proximity to the airport made the whole journey a pleasure. Will recommend the Velassaru, the staff were very caring and catered to all our needs. Loved Velassaru, all thumbs up

Amazing staff, very happy to help and usually with a smile. Staff greeted us by name daily, they noted my son's birthday and gave us a cake and decorated the bed with animals. Overall great experience, quiet island, very peaceful. Good variety of food choices. Our whole family was very pleased with the trip. I've stayed at a number of locations in Mexico, Hawaii, Thailand and Velassaru was by far the best.

This is the fourth resort I’ve stayed at in The Maldives and it is probably the best in terms of convenient location, value for money and its beauty. The staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly, constantly going above expectations to help us out. I would definitely return.

Fabulous location , wonderful staff

Overall it is a nice resort although I would not consider this a five star caliber. The cost of food and partaking in activities are quite expensive - recommend going all-inclusive if you have a family that likes to eat. the quality of food is excellent. We tried to reserve few restaurants on the island but it seems they were booked the entire time we were there. There are no lifeguards around, so be careful with the young ones as the waves are quite strong on the north end of the island during August. Very clean and service is excellent. Overall, we enjoyed our stay there.

For the half board they offer only dinner in one place from 7-10, which is late time to have a buffet dinner. also, I was surprised by the $167 per person transport on a really poor boat, that was for some reason not included. Also, prepare for a $6 per person per night green tax, among other weird taxes.

We booked a water bungalow with private pool and it was a nice stay, the place was relaxing and enjoying, but the pool was not private at all👎 We can see all the pools in all water bungalows in the same side

I stayed 5 nights June 16-21 with my wife in velessaru. We are newly married and were looking for a honeymoon spot in Maldives. Be it the location, food, quietness of the place or be it the hospitality of the staff , velessaru exceeded our expectations. Would love to return here sometime later .

Velassaru was the best place to stay at and wouldn’t stay any other place. Beautiful, friendly-staff, and you get more than what you paid for. They went over and beyond to make sure we had a great experience.

One of the best experiences that I will cherish forever. At Velassaru, not just the place is great but the service as well. They make sure every query or concern is taken care of. So, don’t second guess - it is worth every penny because you will have a lot lovely memories.

Our stay at the Velassaru Resort was exceptional! The transfer from another hotel was very polished and well organized. The check-in process was speedy, professional, and personal. The entire staff was professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful to guests. Our over-the-water bungalow with private pool and ocean access was superior and offered stunning views of the Indian Ocean. The hotel provided a well-equipped Fitness Center and a variety of water activities. The guests were issued complimentary snorkel equipment.The local food presentation, as well as the type, was among the best we've ever had at any resort. The food was always fresh, hot, and very flavorful. Guest services were very generous by providing a late check-out since our flight did not depart until 1900. Thank you, Velassaru, for providing us with an unforgettable experience!!

Stunning and luxurious upscale resort at a private island. The beauty of the island is breathtaking. The service is impeccable and the rooms were very clean. It worths the price tag and more. The infinity pool is gorgeous and we especially loved the private pool at the water bungalow. The staff was extremely friendly. I highly recommend it.

Good five star Resort

The resort is great and you will surely enjoy your stay. Water villas are spacious and well furnished and have nice bathrooms. Spa experience is excellent for both the facility and the therapists skills. The resort is close to Male and you only need 25 min by boat to arrive. However, this means you still can see the capital island. Port, and other surrounding islands lights in the night over the horizon. It has several restaurants, but the selection and taste are average.

Velassaru is a very nice resort. The staff, attention to detail is very nice. This time the resort was super busy but recently then staff coped very well. We are return customers and love the resort but as time is moving on the villas etc might require some rethinking. They are not dated or anything it’s just that Maldives has so much competition that adding some more modern so to say elements would be helpful. Overall amazing place and I am sure we will be back. Ps the beef in Japanese restaurant is super amazing :). And sunset fishing is amazing experience.

I stayed in an overwater pool room while the pool was cute and the view from the bedroom outstanding the ocean there had a lot of rocks and was exposed but overall the place is outstanding

View was fantastic and it was cool to have a beautiful villa right on the water. I saw different fish everyday.

My wife and I stayed in an over-water bungalow and had a terrific experience. Excellent, friendly and responsive service. We purchased the indulgence plan and would highly recommend it.

Excellent hotel

Stayed in a water with private pool. Service was incredible, the staff could not have been more friendly. I would absolutely go back and recommend to others. We were sad to leave. The only minor negative would be the condition of the room, the furniture was a little worn but I think they are upgrading the rooms currently. On our first day we heard a lot of noise from a room they were upgrading and they immediately moved us to another villa. We then had an excellent surprise of champagne on the beach-such a nice touch and something we will remember for a long time. Also, the food at all the restaurants was delicious.

My husband and I had an amazing time at Velassaru. The property was very clean with very friendly staff. We had a wonderful time staying in the over the water room that we took and it totally was worth it. Definitely would recommend and would love to go back again.

Staying at Velassaru was like a dream come true. This was a very special one as it was for our honeymoon trip. Each and every staff member from the front desk, waiters, cleaners, shop staff, maintenance, even the chefs we talked with were so friendly and we honestly felt like royalty there. We even ventured off for an overnight stay at one other resort on another island but we keot talking about how much we missed this place. Everything from the good food and drinks we had every day, the pristine beaches, the well kept island, the photography session was just beyond our highest expectations. We are so glad and extremely happy we got to see Maldives and staying at Velassaru made it an memorable one. We are hoping to revisit here once again hopefully in the near future and quite possibly with children.

My husband and I stayed at Velassaru for our honeymoon. We had both the water villa with a pool and also a deluxe bungalow. We loved our entire stay at the property. The service was too notch from start to finish! There were a good number of activities available daily so we always had something to do.

Feedback about overall Experience in the Resort

Very Lovely and Beautiful Hotel, services, and team. Very Well managed and perfect hospitality, very friendly and dedicated, in the pure meaning of it. Highly recommended to all clients. I travel alot in this world, and this being spoken out of my extensive Experience in traveling. Prices are high for the services, food , drinks, facilities and especially activities(Scuba-diving, snorkeling, fishing trips, dolphin seeing cruises. boat trips,etc) but its understandable why; for the pure reason of maintaining their overall quality . Having that said wholeheartedly, the only thing i didn't like at all was the service related to "free photography session" to all clients residing in the resort. The team were unhelpful, and having in mind we've tried to contact them several times to get a photo-session, until we managed to contact them on our last day of the trip, but they cancelled our reservation and said they'd contact us again before traveling and never did. They should be replaced and a new staff should be placed for this photography department. In relation to the water-sports activities and "Immersion" department, Ana was a superstar and a great host who does her assigned activities wholeheartedly and with love. Amazing hotel, want to go back for sure! Everything was excellent

A real 5 star resort. Extremely well maintained. You feel like walking in paradies. Clean beach, nice sand and crystal clear water.

The property is absolutely beautiful and guest services are amazing. Morning buffet is beyond our expectations, other restaurants are good enough. Location wise is not ideal, it’s near one of the cities and there’s an island nearby under construction. We see rubbish rushing off the shore every morning. Water is not clear compare to the other far away islands. Overall it was a good experience.
