Where to start? Our time spent at Tulemar Resort was definitely one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had in my life. I can’t even begin to describe the stunning beauty I witnessed there. The awe inspiring views of the ocean and jungle were absolutely breathtaking. Honestly, it felt like I was dreaming every morning I woke up and opened the window treatments. The location of this resort is absolutely perfect. My family stayed at one of the Tulemar bungalows. They have floor to ceiling windows with truly phenomenal views. The bungalows are fully stocked with anything you could possibly need. Housekeeping does a great job cleaning and stocking everything daily. A nice walk-in shower, two comfortable queen beds, a pullout couch, and a nice little private deck with a million dollar view. To add to the million dollar view, you’re greeted by squirrel or Capuchin monkey's daily. The wildlife is such an added bonus, it was one of my favorite parts of our trip. The 3 different species of monkeys…Howlers, Capuchins, & Squirrel monkeys. Not to mention, Marine Iguana’s, Gecko’s, Toucan’s, Macaw’s, & Sloth's to name a few. The lush greenery there is absolutely beautiful, and truly memorable. Before I sign off, I most definitely have to mention the Tulemar Café staff we had the pleasure to meet. Simon, Jordi, & Daniel were our waiters that made an everlasting impression. They took such great care of us, and they’re truly genuine human beings who showed us the meaning of Pura Vida!
Great location, very clean, well kept and spacious rooms, super friendly staff.
Lovely resort but let down by poor service. Gorgeous surroundings but not 5 * service. Check in unimpressive and made to feel second class. They rushed off and then made us wait. To be fair they knocked stuff off bill when we complained at check out. Would be helpful to be shown around when checking in. Great beach. Great nature. Good restaurants nearby.
The most special thing about this property is the abundant wildlife that is unique to Costa Rica. We had monkeys, iguanas and a toucan right outside our patio area. You can take a sloth walk and learn their habits and locations. Jans, our concierge, was very helpful in arranging several tours for us, transportation, and a grocery order. The restaurants and pools on site were also great. You can swim while you watch monkeys and sloths. Views vary by location on the property, ours happened to be spectacular. The beach was beautiful but it's hard to see the jellyfish in the cloudy water. The property is on a very steep slope but shuttles run frequently. We visited for one week in July and did not have weather ruin any plans.
The place is absolutely amazing. It’s like staying in a zoo. Saw monkeys, sloths and macaws from our window and a monkey on our deck. Beach is amazing, pools are great, and staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Honestly, we weren’t that amazed by the park after staying at Tulemar because there was so much wildlife and such beautiful grounds. Would give it more than 5 stars if possible. Probably the most beat resort we’ve ever stayed at!
10 Amazing location with incredible staff and service. We will be back!
Love it. It was awesome. Our bungalow was very nice and the beach was fantastic. We also enjoyed the food at the Tule cafe
Amazing!! It is everything you can ask for!!
This was our family dream trip. We splurged and went to Tulemar and it did not disappoint in the least. Awesome facility. Clean rooms. Amazing nature setting. Saw sloths, monkeys, macaws, toucans and many other animals on site. Beach was beautiful. Service was top notch. Shuttle service was quick. Concierge, drivers, restaurant staff, everyone was top notch! If you go, ask your concierge to do the on site Sloth Walk, which takes you through the property to look for sloths and other animals. It was a great tour, that was economical and informative.
Everything exceeded our expectations. From the friendliness of the staff. To the beautiful villa. To the non-stop wildlife cruising through daily. To the private beach. To the courtesy resort shuttle. To the room service. To our deck view. Even the weather cooperated. In a word..nirvana. For real...
Exceeded expectations. Low-key, quiet, beautiful grounds, not ostentatious, just great!
Loved how all villas had some ocean view and sunset view. Like being in a treehouse. Their cafe had the best food in the local area. Best beach around, not busy. The staff was amazing for anything you needed. The tours they offered were fantastic. Only negatives- hard to get hot water for showers.
Beautiful property
Beach, wildlife, proximity to jungle. Excellent bungalows and staff
Loved everything about Tulemar except a few unruly young adult guests that were feeding the monkeys and making the staff work harder than necessary. Take the Sloth Walk. Learned so much about the wildlife on the grounds!
Best vacation ever
We absolutely loved Tulemar and did not want to leave. Orlando and all the staff were so friendly and helpful. The shuttles around the property were a blessing for all the hills. The beach was clean and beautiful. Our villa was amazing! We loved seeing all the creatures around the property. I will be recommending this location to everyone.
Wonderful staff, they made sure your every need is met (thanks Orlando!). We stayed in one of the villas with a rainforest view - and we were able to see so much wildlife from our balcony! Thanks for a great vacation.
Breath taking view. Excellent service. Good food.
Amazing property! Lots of wildlife to be seen. Beautiful beach! Concierge Laura available via text and was super helpful. Better guidance at checkin would help - how to use safe, convenience store, pool locations… Good restaurants within easy walk.
Gorgeous views!
Perfect resort!
We were in the premium villas (2 bedroom 2.5 bath). Great amenities though for the price and class of resort we were expecting the villas to be a bit more upgraded. Lighting was fairly poor on the patio where the dining table was so we couldn't really dine outside as a family it was very hard to see. Wifi didn't reach down to the bedrooms on the floor below. The curtains in the master bedroom was nearly impossible to use as it would always get stuck and you have to pull really hard, sometimes feeling like you might accidentally rip the curtain rods right out of the wall just to close or open the curtains each day. That said, the resort is still excellent. We spent the day at their private beach which had gentle waves and services like food/drinks and towels. Every evening we sat in the hot tub to watch the gorgeous sunsets (beware it'll take about 60 minutes to warm up). And after we return from dinner we will usually see a volunteer from the sloth sanctuary on property tracking sloths. There was almost always one in the tree right above our car in the parking area right above the villas. It's definitely a pricey stay and for us it was worth it, but just temper your expectations about some of the little details. Pura vida!
Everything you expect and then some. #5star
Had a great time with my family!
Beautiful resort with breathtaking views!!!
We loved our time at Tulemar! Everyone on the staff was so helpful and gracious. We had a personal concierge and his name was Miguel, he was great!! Our tour guide for Manuel Antonio National Park was phenomenal. His name was Carlos and he was so full of knowledge!! We had the best time and I will be recommending him to all my friends who go to Costa Rica!! We will also be recommending Tulemar Resort.
We liked everything, except that some people would talk on the phone on their balconies and we could hear them like they were talking beside us. Also in the bungalow next to us two teenage boys would be make a lot of noise while on their balcony too. Generally noise caused by other guests is my only issue with our stay. Everything else was great.
When we first arrived, I wasn’t totally thrilled. The beach is not an easy walk away, the water isn’t as blue or clear as Hawaii, the room wasn’t that super. BUT, I had to shift my expectations- this isn’t Maui. What makes it better- the SERVICE is amazing. They’ll shuttle you to the beach and back all day. The food at the Tulecafe is pretty amazing. You can have your meals and drinks at the beach. The water is nice and warm. They give you free kayaks, boogie boards, sand toys. There’s plenty of seating and shade at the beach. Hanging out at the beach was probably our best day. We left the resort to go to a vrbo that was 9x bigger than our casa at Tulemar and at first our entire party was excited to have a giant space. But within a half day, we all agreed we’d much rather spend our time at Tulemar. We’re a large family, traveling with 4 adults, 2 teens & a baby, fairly well traveled and are lucky to travel well & Tulemar will be near the top of our favorite places and we’d love to come back (we don’t visit too many places more than once). So sad Tulemar didn’t have the availability to extend our stay :(
Don’t miss this place!
The staff at Tulemar are excellent - every one of them! The restaurant food was extremely good. The setting was beautiful. We saw a lot of wildlife here! From the window of our room we saw Scarlet macaws, sloths, Capuchin monkeys, and more. We had a great time here and highly recommend this resort.
We loved it! Rooms were super duper clean and service was amazing.
The staff was very friendly. Room had an amazing view, with wild animals all around. The room was very clean. The food at the restaurant on the resort was also very good.
This property is absolutely amazing! They really work hard at preserving the nature around the facility and pointing out the wildlife to you. They had multiple pools and they have rooms with a full kitchen and there’s even a little store available if you want to eat in, instead at one of their two restaurants! You have the most amazing views from anywhere on the property as well as a full service private beach equipped with lounge chairs, drink and food service, free kayaks and boogie boards made it even better!!! I’ll be back for sure!
Beautiful property. Lots of wildlife. Amanda our Sloth Tour guide has a really good eye for finding sloths. They’re hard to spot! Miguel guided us through our first visit to Costa Rica, setting us up with transportation, tours, COVID tests and so much more.
Wonderful staff. Beautiful accommodations. Just the perfect vacation!
Loved the wildlife,landscaping and view.
This is such an amazing abd unique place, true beauty, one of the best beaches, beautiful pools, lovely staff. I can't recommend this enough!! And you have the added bonus of the sloth institute on site. Nice restaurant but also lots of great local places within walking distance. It was an amazing stay!
The private beach is gorgeous and you can get food and drink delivered to your beach chairs at no extra charge. The concierge and staff were extremely helpful with restaurant recommendations which were all fabulous!
It was a perfect stay. We will definitely be returning.
Everything was perfect, a great mix of modern hotel amenities and the natural world.
Wow. Spectacular. All the staff was so kind and friendly. Don’t worry just book. We ended up adding one more night, wish we could have stayed longer (and miss our flight lol). Views from the bungalow were amazing. These resort is immersive with wildlife and natural landscaping. Beach was quite and enjoyed a taste of paradise. Concierge team was easy to reach and even helped with park tickets. Thank you guys.
The property was amazing, the staff was first class, the restaurant called Tule Cafe was one of the best we ate at all week. The views were spectacular and every morning and evening we had monkeys all over our balcony. One of the best family vacations ever!!
Everything was so simple, concierge took care of everything fast! Views were amazing and food didn’t disappoint!
Recommend but want to keep it to myself
Beyond expectation. We arrived at night and told we were staying one of the best bungalows. Next day, we were wowed by the view! We enjoyed our stay at Tulemar even during rain storm. Jean Carlo was helping us checking in, booking trips, arranging additional trip, restaurant reservations, everything you can think of. He is an excellent concierge! We saw sloth and macaw day one, keep seeing more animals on site. Ride to the beach, cafe food was yummy, this is THE vacation and Tulemar is a big part of why we enjoyed our vacation 120%.
I didnt actually knew what kind of hotel this was. I was surprised by the beauty of the property and the kindness of the staff. Best experience ever. Thank you.
Incredible place, fabulous service and we can’t wait to return! Private beach and numerous animal sightings made it that much more spectacular.
We loved our stay at Tulemar, every detail was perfect from the Villa, to the service to the facilities.
The Adventure Buddies love staying at Tulemar it’s our 4th time! Stay is wonderful, you have your own private Conceirge to help organize activities and dinners, private beach, TuleCafe is so beautiful monkeys and sloths every where! Highly recommend! Brian and Jeancarlo are the best!!
I loved this place!! Will definitely be back soon!
We loved staying in Tulemar! The resort is beautiful and the staff is very friendly. They helped organize all of our tours as well as PCR tests we needed to fly back home. The private beach is a great amenity to have and the Tule Cafe has great food. Only downside I would say is that the villa's are a bit old and could use some renovation. There were a lot of ants in our bathroom. Our water heater broke the last day but they fixed it within a few minutes. Overall, great property and we would love to visit again.
We were supposed to stay 2 nights and ended up staying 5 nights -- that's how much we loved the property. The bungalow itself could have been more updated - we never would have paid the regular high-season asking rate, but at the "Covid-season" rate it was a great deal. The panoramic views are sensational - it was amazing to sleep with the shades up and wake to the sun rise!! The tiny private beach is amazing, the food was very good, and the staff was by and large exceptional. We had our own concierge, Orlando, who communicated with us at ALL hours on a group text chat. He was so helpful, so responsive and SO patient/adaptable with our indecisiveness which led to last-minute requests/changes.
The best by far! It was so worth the extra money to be treated like royalty. Gracias
The property is amazing. It’s like a jungle with incredible birds, monkeys, sloth’s, etc. it was very well manicured and the rooms were very clean and modern. We stayed in a bungalow. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The only complaint I have is that it was very boring and quiet. No music at the pool or beach or in the restaurant, not even some light background music. There were lots of kids also. If you are looking for quiet and peacefulness this property is truly amazing.
Tulemar is amazingly beautiful. You have the Rainforest and beach all in one place. The staff were great. We were greeted with beautiful animals each day. Our 2 bedroom villa was everything we wanted. We rented a car for the week which was worth the while. We did the off road tour and we highly recommend it.
Excellent resort. Bungalow was modern and clean. Staff was accommodating and very friendly. Secluded beach was the best we experienced on our whole trip. Lounge chairs and beach toys were a huge plus!
Private secluded luxury villas with incredible views of the ocean, mountains and sunsets. Wonderfully landscaped with private beach and pools.
beautiful place with great staff
A wonderful place in an incredible location. Rooms are beautiful, the views and wildlife are spectacular. Good food at the restaurant, great salads, great burger. The staff is amazing incredibly friendly and helpful. world class customer service
My wife and I stayed here this week. This place exceeded our expectations. Extremely beautiful and the workers were incredible people. Just all around some of the best 4 days of our lives.
Excellent property! Staff was friendly and helpful. Grounds are gorgeous with wildlife and a beautiful private beach!
Tulemar exceeded expectations!! Beautiful bungalows overlooking the rainforest & beach. Such wonderful staff, delicious food & overall beautiful resort. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay here again!
Great location, rooms, and hospitality. Beautiful views, access to beach, private trails.
Liked the location Each villa was very private and spacious Nice private beach for guests Staff were very friendly and helpful
Pretty good but Off season and COIVD seemed to have them missing a step or two. Concierge was taken on by front desk guy and they aren’t really that good at it. Better off on your own with research. Orland booked me with some middle man tour company who just hiked the prices up sent me back to the real company. Not something you would expect from a four star resort. Very cheesy. Juan at the bar was so good. He made us feel like family . He was absolutely the best part of the trip and when he wasn’t there you felt the service energy leave. The property is very natural, but it would be nice if they gave you a amenities to make your stay comfortable for that environment. Flashlights for instance because the property is so dark. The Tulemar Restaurant was the most expensive we had during our stay, so be prepared to pay for the convenience. You would be Better off in the town.
I was unable to stay here since Costa Rica is not letting any travelers into their country from USA due to covid and the airlines cancelled our flights. The other 3 Hotels refunded our $ however this hotel did not. I am not satisfied with this outcome since I did not have a choice in the matter! Also every time we tried calling this hotel there was no answer and we had to leave a message. It is not ethical to keep ones money when we don’t know when we can rebook our trip. This is not how you keep your consumers happy!
Like- Room was awesome, private beach, pool. Grounds were beautiful
Has its own private beach that is amazing- great for kids! There are shuttles that will take you everywhere but the walk to the beach is as good as Manuel Antonio park. We saw a sloth, a herd of monkeys swinging over us, a bunch of iguanas etc. Rooms are your own “casas” with the amenities of a hotel! Ours even had a laundry room! Love this place- could stay here longer but had already planned our trip!
The staff and service were excellent at Tulemar. The restaurants were also excellent as were the pools and private beach. Nothing ever felt crowded and we saw lots of sloths, monkeys and iguanas here. This is certainly a place we will return.
What a place to end our Costa Rican adventure! The sunset at Tulip Cafe or at the beach is a must.
Amazing place, amazing staff. Everything was superb. Especially the food and the beach. Totally recommended!
I had read many reviews about Tulemar and admit I was suspicious that I could not find any poor reviews, but now I understand why. The property is beautiful, the staff is very attentive, they work hard to make each visitor feel welcome. Accommodations were awesome. We booked a bungalow but when Tulecafe and the attached pool began renovations, our concierge, Laura, moved us to a two bedroom house that was exceptional! Even the bungalows are wonderful (having gone through recent renovations). This place will not disappoint! The grounds are well-maintained and like paradise. We did several excursions off the property but you will likely see more wildlife here than anywhere else! You really do not need to leave but if you do, you can walk to the bank, grocery store and several restaurants. It’s no surprise that this resort is highly rated! I’m not convinced there would be a better place to stay while visiting Manuel Antonio. Pura Vida!
Wonderful stay at Maunaloa bungalow
Amazing stay!! Beautiful resort, amazing beach, really great for families!
We Loved Tulemar!
My wife and I spent four nights at Tulamar in Mid-September, our fist trip to CR. The resort is absolutely amazing, and we really enjoyed Manuel Antonio. My wife and I celebrate our anniversary each year with vacation to unwind and and get some alone time together. Tulemar was the perfect place for this. The town of Manuel Antonio is on top of a ridge line, Including entrance to Tulemar. The resort goes from there all the way down to the beach. It is mostly jungle throughout, with some steep driveways, concrete paths, and a couple of hiking trails to get through the resort. It is a beautiful mix of landscaping and jungle. The Villas and Bungalows are located in the top half, and amazing huge houses are located in the lower half. We saw a few other people besides employees while walking around the resort. It felt very private, exactly what we wanted. Jean Carlo was our Concierge, and he was great. He seemed to dial in on our tastes immediately, and all his suggestions for food and our tours were spot on. Upon our arrival He provided a quick tour around the property, pointed out some monkeys and sloths, and gave us some hospitality drinks at Tule Cafe. He even brought my wife a bathrobe, which made her day! September is part of the rainy season in CR, and the resort seemed under capacity because of that. With the down season, there was some construction going on on a few units near the Villa we booked. Our concierge, Jean Carlo, gave us a few options to get
Gorgeous setting, friendly staff, beautiful villas, perfect.private beach.
Tulemar staff and facilities were amazing. The shuttle driver Mimmo and our concierge Jons were extremely helpful and accommodating. Our only hope is to be able to return when the pool below the villa we stayed in isn't being worked on.
Beautiful in the rainforest
Everyone at this resort is looking for ways to both provide you excellent service, and let you have your space and peace. Often times at nice resorts I feel overwhelmed by the service level and just want the employees to leave me at peace. Tulemar was literally perfect. Our room was so clean with a small ocean view that we hadn't even paid extra for. We saw monkeys in the trees, 4 sloths, and had wonderful food. The private beach was the best part. There's almost no one there and we felt safe leaving our stuff while we swam. I love this resort. It was literally magical. Tons of walking, stairs, and hills. But I think they have a shuttle.
Pool very small and dirty , no good for little kids
AMAZING place! In addition to the great service, food and facilities there was so much wildlife to observe on the property. We will definitely be back.
Highly recommend
The grounds and natural wildlife here are incredible! Bring your camera and good walking/hiking shoes because there are wonderful trails and steep roads to enjoy wildlife creatures in their habitat. Shuttles are quickly accessed if you prefer rides to and from. We loved almost everything about this place aside from the bar and food service on the beach. David however, who is the consistent staff member at the beach was wonderful to get us whatever we needed for comfort and fun on the beach and in the water. He also helped out the bar and food service staff when available. The service at the main restaurant was great though. Simon and Jose at the Tulemar restaurant were wonderful and the food never disappoints! We also can't say enough about our wonderful concierge Andre's. Andre's was immediately available to answer our every need from restaurant reservations to tours outside the facility. We had a standard room with an absolutely amazing view. From what we could see, every room and facility at Tulemar appeared to have great sunset views. We will definitely visit again!
There is a reason this is a top hotel. The rooms, food, staff, animal life all around you. Concierge service. Truly a special place. You get totally spoiled there. Pura vida
We stayed with our family 7 days our days spent on the beautiful beach where very nice David made it even better by getting us anything we needed . The wait staff on the beach where attentive and pleasant. Tulecafe the food was
Lush jungle nice facilities near to restaurant options and beaches
The most amazing staff. Top quality service. Amazing food and the best sunset view . Plenty of wildlife. We seen many species of monkeys that visited our veranda. Lots of sloths in the trees. Uganda and colourful birds.
The shuttle up and down the hills is great. The wildlife (especially the sloths) are throughout the property. I have stayed here many time and will return again
Perfect jungle retreat
Beautiful resort, luxurious accommodation, fantastic staff and the location was unbeatable. Wildlife abounded, Just perfect.
Perfection
Perfection. Wildlife everything. And a sloth sanctuary. The staff is fantastic. The guide they use for the National Park is one of the most enthusiastic and enjoyable guides ever.
Not worth the price Orlando was excellent Definitely paid a bit much for the accommodations but again, pretty spot
Amenities are so so
Beautiful property however the beach and the pool area are not very well kept. I don't think it would be too much to ask to have a flat screen tv in the living room area.
Absolutely amazing!
Beautiful place. Very friendly staff. The restaurant could use some help in the kitchen.
This was a fabulous place to stay! Beautiful surroundings, friendly staff, amazing animals (sloths, monkeys of all kinds, glorious birds). I cannot say enough good things about this place. It was wonderful.
The wildlife!
Had a fabulous stay here. The grounds are divine - it was like being in a wildlife park. We saw a sloth, a toucan and a couple of scarlet macaws within 10 minutes of arriving. Our bungalow (115) had the most amazing view of the Pacific and was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. A big shout out to Andreas our concierge who was fabulous and Vivi who gave us an amazing tour around the MA National Park. I’d go back in a heartbeat.
Total jungle relaxation
Absolutely loved it here. Staff were all wonderful, food delicious and the views and ambience was so relaxing! Felt miles away from the outside world and loved the daily visits from the monkeys and spotting the local sloth on the grounds each day. My son didn’t get out in the pools and the private beach was also wonderful!
Spectacular place, strongly recommended. Monkeys, tucanoes, birds, trails and a beautiful private beach, we don’t want to leave....
Beautiful hotel with incredible views and wonderful staff
Perfect place for just living life. Everything you want for a dream vaca
This was the best place I stayed at in Costa Rica, I loved every minute of it! For a woman travelling alone the staff made me feel very safe and right at home. From the check-in with Orlando, to my personal conceirges Laura and Sarah, the shuttle drivers Guierrmo and Gian Carlo, David at the beachside bar, Elliott at the resaurant and Yelin in housekeeping everybody went above and beyond to make my experience a trip of a lifetime! The next time I visit Manuel Antonio I will be sure to stay with them. Thank you so much!!
This place is straight out of a postcard. It was so nice and perfect spot for a family vacation.
Private beach and wonderful staff. Jean Carlos, Ofelia, Daniela, Diego, David, Juan.
Views. Room. Food. Staff. Beach. Pool. Drinks....all amazing! Monkey party in the trees right outside our room- howlers and squirrel monkeys. The staff goes above and beyond- Juan, David, Simon, Lisa, Sara, and I wish I could remember the rest! The beach bar guys are the best! Pura Vida!
Lovely place to stay - if you can afford it
Really eye opening resort with amazing acco and great customer service (obviously comes with a cost). The room/apartment was fantastic. Good view and a nice private beach access.

We loved our stay in Luxury Standard Room 209 at Tulemar. We saw squirrel monkeys daily from our balcony, and toucans, sloths, scarlet macaws, leaf-cutter ants, frogs, bats, and iguanas on the grounds also. The private beach was never crowded, and we appreciated the complimentary umbrellas and chairs, as well as the ability to order food and drinks from Tule Cafe while on the beach. The Sloth Walk with Pedro was great - we saw at least 10. The food at Tule Cafe was very good - we had breakfast, the bbq burger, and the pulled pork taquitos - all great. We had a rental car and could easily park at the base of our room's walkway (about 4-5 free parking spaces by each area). We never needed the shuttles, as we either took our own car or walked on the grounds. The staff were alway so nice too. A wonderful stay.
