Star Gazing
I stayed at the lodge primarily for the dark skies and was not disappointed....the stars popped by 9pm and were beautiful. The main draws for the lodge are the mt bike lift and trails down the mountain and boat launching. Unfortunately the lake is too low there for any boating. The location is very peaceful so I enjoyed just sitting out and watching nature during the day and some hiking. The room was motel like and was spotless. Full kitchen. Checking in/out was easy and staff were very personable. Other than the biking there is not much else to do there but it makes a great get away otherwise. There is Long Horn Cavern and Inks Lake state park with great hiking trails about a 20 minute drive. This is not a luxury resort but for the price and quality of the accommodations it was really a nice stay.
Nice place to stay.
Nice cabin. Full size kitchen. For the price, it can't be beat.
Our cabin at the Thunderbird Lodge was perfect for our short vacation at Spider Mountain. Easy to check in after hours, spacious accommodations, beautiful property, and a short bike ride to the lift and walk to hiking. Front office was super friendly. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended!
Very nice
It was an excellent stay for us. The staff were so friendly. I love the rustic style of our cabin. We will becoming back
Pretty setting. Great staff
Accommodations were ok but room temp was about 80 degrees until about 3:00 am when the window unit finally caught up. The bit was around 73.
Great view of lake and spidermountain
Nice outdoor place
Very nice and quiet place! Great vacation spot for kids!
This property was in a very cute and quiet location. It was also very close to many other activities and things to do in Burnet and Marble Falls.
Cabin was cute and clean, with comfortable beds and a full kitchen. The basketball "court" needed repair, pool was a weird green, never found the volleyball court... property could have used some attention overall. Front desk lady was pleasant and checked us in quickly.
Convenient location with great views
Enjoyed our stay. We will be back.
NO lake access.
We stayed in March or 2024. The cabin was nice but the lake was very dry. No way to do any fishing or water related. I just wish they would have told us before the trip that the lake around them was bone dry and not at all what the pictures show. The staff was very friendly and we still had a great time. The tram ride is pretty cool. Rooms are what you would expect for a cabin made to house mountain bikers and off roaders.
Great location, comfortable bed!
The location of the Thunderbird Cabin was perfect for my plans that involved a night time trail run at Spider Mountain. Couldnt be a better location. I was SO GLAD for the very clean, comfortable, and cute enough accommodations. The staff I worked with to make reservations, find my way and to problem solve were super helpful and very friendly.
Awesome rural spot. Dirt bike park. Lots of trails and good little hiking potential. Near the river. Drought when we stayed but imagine it’s extra gorgeous when the rivers full. Staff is great! Thank you!
very private.. comfy beds
Great place to stay with families! Kind staff, clean rooms, located near hiking trails, and it has beautiful sunsets!
Perfect minus dirty floor
The cabin was super cute! Adorable decorations and colpr scheme was perfect. Very grateful for the full kitchen! Did notice that the floor was very very dirty throughout the cabin. Felt like walking in a fastfood kitchen. Barefoot walking was absolutely not possible. The chairs on the front porch were cracking so we couldn't sit in them outside. Even with the dirty floor we still really enjoyed our stay. Very friendly. Kind and respectful place.
Fun place - low to the ground amenities, reminded me of a KOA park. Awesome access to their cool mountain bike trails and fishing (weird combo). The staff is super sweet and took great care of me. Going back next year!
Quiet and unique property. Charming cottages. Will be back.
short stay in comfort
peaceacegul placxe, comfortable, excellent environment for fa ilies
Wonderful and quiet place with friendly staff and welcoming cats.
Cozy clean cottage with two beds. Full equipped kitchen for long stay. (I stayed one night but next time I will stay longer!). One downside was “flies” . I guess due to piled garbage bags, there are lots of fries. (I could manage but this is the only negative point). Other than that, receptionist is so smiley and friendly. I highly recommend this place
Cute place and super quiet.
The price and location were great. The roads driving through the resort are quite difficult to drive wouldn't bring a small car or a low clearance vehicle. The stone cabins are very nice . The king bed in cabin 17 is very comfortable. The fan in the room with the kid beds didnt work, it was very hot in there. There are large ac window units in both living room and the king bedroom . I give the stay a 9 out of 10. The bathroom is very low to the ground , the shower is low if you're over 5ft 9". The scenery was amazing.
Outstanding experience
A very pleasant surprise. This place is really cool. It reminds me of an old school summer camp. Nicely appointed cabin, comfy bed, full kitchen, a porch to enjoy the evening and early morning. We definitely will be back to spend more than just one day. We made several new friends (the resident cats) as well, especially the gray one, who we call fat cat.
I attended an event close by and Thunderbird was great. Easy communication with the property when I had a late arrival. It’s quiet and simple with a complete kitchen and plenty of space. Very happy with my decision to stay there.
While the weather was so very hot the cabin was nice and with two bedrooms and two baths it was comfortable and spacious. The pool was nice but at 5:00 at nite it was warm and not refreshing since it was 105 degrees. I have been here over the years about 25 times and love this place.
Very nice
Enjoy the location the place was great
The location is wonderful.
Awesome
This resort was fabulous. Great for families.

Really enjoyed our stay getaway
Very clean nice location
Clean place, gorgeous view, reliable internet
I stayed two nights while on a business trip. All I needed was a clean place to stay with reliable wifi at a reasonable price. Enter Thunderbird Resort. This place is set in the beautiful Hill Country on the lake where wildflowers are in full display. I set my reservation for late arrival, so getting into my cabin was a breeze as the office left instructions for late arrivals. So far so good. I went back into town to set up for a class that I would be teaching the following morning. Before returning to the resort, I made a quick stop at the grocery store in town. Enter unexpected roommate #1, referred to as ER1. ER1 was super sweet at first, but could howl like noones' business. ER1 had no respect for boundaries as they just waltzed right into my cabin demanding food. Since ER1 was giving off a Pet Cemetery vibe, I gave into the demands and shared most of my tuna salad from the sandwich I intended for lunch the next day. Once satisfied, ER1 made themselves right at home. Fortunately, I was able to get ER1 outside before turning in for the night. While ER1 was helping themselves to my lunch, I encounter unexpected roommate #2 (ER2). Fortunately, ER2 was quiet. Like Ninja quiet. The downside, ER2 had a habit of showing up in unexpected areas throughout the cabin to the point where I was walking on eggshells they entirety of my stall. All in all, it was a clean place with a gorgeous view and reliable internet access. P.S. will upload photos when I am able to.
Showers need improvement
The cabin itself was very clean and nice. The beds were comfortable and check in was a breeze. However, the bathroom is TINY. The shower head is at the height of a child. I am 5’5 and had to duck to have my head under the water. My poor 6’3 husband had to step out of the shower to have enough room to bend over under the water to wash his hair. There’s provided dishes but not a lot of variety in cookware. No paper towels or spices/seasonings so make sure to bring your own.
We were there for a business trip, it was very nice to be able to come back and be to prepare our meals and just sit and enjoy the views and the quiet surrounding.
What pleasant surprise.
Actually, booked this by accident. Was just looking for motel room. Was I surprised when I found out it was a cabin with a kitchenette! Fantastic location. Staff was great. I wanted to stay another night, but they were booked. Off the beaten path but a great place to relax for a few days. Will be staying here again. Caters to mountain bikers and there is a lift.
Cabins are cabins. A little more rustic than a traditional hotel but they were clean and the service was good and the area was beautiful.
Relaxed and far from city life.
The beginning was a bit complicated but their customer service is flawless they took care of everything a good place to get relax away from crowded city life with no internet just the barely wifi signal from office if you are close to, an adventure in the night with different cabin options overall good experience.
Rustic Charm
Very friendly staff. Two free lift tickets to the top of Spider Mountain were included. Great views. Would highly recommend this place for folks who like rustic and somewhat secluded charm. Not for those who like pretentious hotels.
The only poor thing was both the bathroom door and bedroom door had a hole punched in. The pool was nice and the cabin was super clean and inviting. I will stay here again.
Great people at the front desk. Super friendly.
We stayed for one night as a halfway stopover on our way to south Texas. We arrived after dark & after office hours but they made arrangements for us to get the cabin key upon our arrival. We left early the next morning but saw a little of the area before leaving and the views were nice and peaceful. The cabin was clean, cute, and comfortable and we loved the full sized coffee pot we brewed our own coffee in. We picked up carryout food from "Mama's Home Cooking" restaurant on the route to Thunderbird Lodge but there was a fridge, stove, and microwave so it is well appointed for longer stays. We would stay here again!
the biking
It’s an older property that is tucked away in a quiet corner of the lake with simple amenities for families or small groups to spend time with each other. It’s not a place you go to be entertained, but to enjoy each other in a simple setting. The only issues we had were a result of the abnormally cold weather. The staff took actions to make sure we had the necessities such as heat, lights, and running water. The cabin we stayed in was showing it’s age and the futon mattresses need replacement. We still had a great time with the kids and grandkids!
Even on a bitter cold weekend Thunderbird delivered with a cozy warm cabin and beautiful scenery. This was our third visit in the past 4 months and certainly won’t be our last.
Great get away.
Excellent value, friendly staff, very clean! Bring your own water as theirs does have a taste.
Was a nice place for our family night get together. Made some memories for sure.
It reminded need me of Colorado and it was peaceful. The view was also great.
I did not stay here, because when I arrived at 11:30PM, the gate to the lodge was closed, everything was dark, and I could not get a hold of anyone by phone. I had to book another nearby hotel for the night.
It’s was very peaceful, the service was great, the price for the stay was worth it. Great experience.
Nice view outside our room. Picnic table and a couple chairs out of the door. Shower is very small and not much water in pressure. Bed was comfy. No heater in room. Gave us a portable. Not a very clean feeling in room for the weekend price.
quit and clean . Dated but comfortable
Cabins are rough. Everything is there though. The location is unbeatable for the lake, Spider Mtn and Reveille Peak Ranch. We continue to come back.
Nice Place To Get Way To For A Few Days
We had a lovely cabin with a beautiful lake view. It was very quiet. Our only issue was the condition of the furniture The mattress was a bit saggy. It took a few pulls to get to a standing position from sitting down on the futons and chairs. The kitchen and bathrooms were up to date. The porch was fabulous.
This place is great and affordable. Staff is super friendly. We enjoyed it and will stay again if we are in the area.
Wouldn’t stay again
The rooms are dated and run down. Some of the roads were nearly impassable in our van. Our fridge shelf and drawers were broken. The pool was not usable, and no where for kids to swim. The futons didn’t look like they were cleaned after last used. The table and chairs were very unstable. They want you to take out all the trash and clean the room before leaving. We generally tidy before leaving any type of hotel, but they seem like they want to do the bare minimum.
Quaint
Comfy beds. We all enjoyed our stay
Great cabins on water
Great property! We visited when the water was too cold to really get in or enjoy the water sports, but still pretty to look at from the cabin. Having a kitchen was super great, because any restaurant is a little drive and most of them close relatively early. Front cabin parking super convenient. Very dog friendly. There are probably a lot of amenities offered in the summer, but our timing was off. Several beds in the cabin, so it’s easy to pick the most comfortable. If in the area again, would definitely stay there.
It was so close to the water, basketball court, and good hiking. We had a fantastic time.
Weekend getaway
Nice weekend getaway place to stay. Cozy.. enjoy our stay.
Thunderbird resort, A+
Great place to stay and visit.
It was great just be prepared to clean up or be charged!
For the price, our cabin was good. Cabin #12 is rustic and a little old but it was spotless, the heaters worked, the beds were comfortable and we enjoyed the views. We will definitely be back.
Been coming and having a great time EVERY-TIME for 25 years...with new management everything still seems fine, looking forward to our next visit.
Great Place with a Few Exceptions
Incredibly convenient when riding at Spider Mountain. Stayed in a 2bd/2ba which had a lot of space. Kitchen included all the basics. We will definitely return. Cleanliness and service could be a little better.
We loved this place and we will go back!
We initially booked the cabin for our Son to ride Spider Mountain, however decided to continue with our trip all though he had a change in plans. Thunderbird DID NOT disappoint! We love to get out of town and enjoy the Hill Country around the holidays, and this by far is at the top of our favorites list. The staff was so accommodating prior to and during our stay! The service and amenities far supersede just Spider Mountain! The lake was yards outside our door and the lodge close enough to town to enjoy local events and attractions! A definite do again for us!
Quiet Charm
Great place to get away. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The service was friendly.
LOVED IT
Was in for a wedding and while a little rustic we loved it! Walking distance to the lake, beautiful views. Definately will be back for a vacation so we can take advantage of all we saw! Front desk was friendly and helpful. Even though we arrived after hours, we had no issues getting into our cabin.
Perfect hill country getaway
Great location by the water with charming cabins; did not know you could also mountain bike there too!

Tough weekend
Rather frustrating stay. Apparently an issue with WiFi made it inaccessible for our room and cell signal out there objectively horrible. Hard to keep walking up to office just to text family and friends. Toilet not seated well and rocked vigorously when seated. Shower head splayed like your thumb on a garden hose, only <6ft up, and had to go full heat to get a tepid shower. Staff were lovely however.
