Excellent stay.
The staff at the property are outstanding. Friendly, professional and knowledgeable.
Pankaj was a marvelous concierge and made us feel very welcome.
Staff were really friendly and welcoming. The room was beautiful! Restaurant was amazing. Our waiter was exceptional. Thank you so much for everything!
Birthday party for friend
This is my 2nd times staying in this property. I love it last time however this time I was not to crazy about the room but thats my problem I guess. Overall, a good property in middle of downtown kitchener. Walking distance to everything. Btw walper, find a better option regarding parking
10/10 incredible stay!!!
We had an incredible stay at The Walper! The staff were welcoming and accommodating as soon as we walked in the door. We were greeted by Juliet who was very knowledgeable and friendly helping us with parking, our room and even our dinner at the on site restaurant. It wasn’t just Juliet but EVERYONE on staff that were so kind even in the restaurant. We especially liked the text service, we needed wine glasses to our room and wanted late checkout and we were immediately answered and serviced through text. A lot of the reviews were complaining about parking however Juliet directed us to across the street where it was covered and free to park overnight (parking into Sunday). Overall we really enjoyed our experience, the room, the atmosphere the restaurant and the staff make us want to come back 10 more times. Thank you!
The hotel was really good. Good lovation and friendly staff. The food at the restaurant was ok. My only complaint would be that they let my cousin up to my room without announcing her. That made me feel a bit unsafe. She did stay the night before but had checked out. I would stsy there again though
Excellent service at front desk!
Everything was great! Toilet seat was crooked but useable
Our room was pretty cold despite setting it to 24 the heat never reaches that. But the people were very nice they gave us a space heater to compensate.
Great area, friendly staff, clean rooms
Everything was wonderful! We were offered bottled water upon arrival which was greatly appreciated. We selected to have breakfast included and I’m happy we did. Healthy locally sourced foods where possible. The hotel serves my favourite Italian coffee/espresso which was a bonus. Robes available in the lighted wardrobe are a nice touch.
Excellent as usual!
Nice hotel but outside noise was a little loud through the night.
The staff are kind and lovely. The parking is a struggle but the food in the restaurant is delicious. They just need to improve their standard operations. Recommend not ordering food to your room and keep your stay short and you will have a great time.
This hotel, the stay, the TWH Social (food) and everything single bit of this stay from walking through the front to leaving was to a level of excellence that I have not experienced! Never are hotel stays perfect but this! This stay was exactly that! This was my first stay but will absolutely NOT be my last! 10/10!
Excellent hotel!
Hotel property was great. However a lot of questionable characters walking on the streets.
It was okay. However, there was hair in the black towel in the washroom, and the toilet paper wasn’t brand new; the roll was about to run out. This is the first time I've seen a hotel trying to save a toilet paper roll. I’m pointing this out not because I want some benefit or compensation but just for the cleaning team to do their best. Other than that, it was fine.
Fantastic hotel and great staff.
Very nice.
Staff was accommodating to a room change for a larger room and also helped me to store food left over from a wedding in their fridge. Great location and generally safe. Lots of good restaurants around. Only missing a spa and a pool.

Only issues we had didn’t have anything to do with the facility itself. Most of the hotel was there together and unfortunately for us they decided to party in the room right next to us, thankfully they shut it down by 12:30 am, so not the end of the world, but the street was extremely busy and noisy all night.
It is so nice the hotel provided bathrobes and the room is so spacious, very comfortable!
Love the property and the location. Staff were very friendly and accomodating
Clean unique hotel, nice staff. Thumbs up from us
Very nice boutique hotel.Great room!
It is a terrible hotel to stay -TVs do not work properly even after changing rooms several times -The heater in the rooms do not work -No hot water even though the weather is code In general i will NEVER recommend my worst enemy to stay at this hotel
Overall this was a lovely hotel with plenty of amenities for entertainment. Within minutes of theatres and other venues. We were quite disappointed with the room quality. At first sight it seemed pleasantly appealing and well appointed. However it did not take us long to realize the room was very tiny with very little extra space to spread out. (King room). Especially the bathroom. Do not take any sort of vanity bag, there is no room. To top It off the heat was stuck at 27-29 Celsius all night long and would not go down despite having a repair man come as well. Secondly , which was a bit comical, the TV was stuck on auto descriptive and we could not figure that out(even the same repair guy could not). Overall it was a mediocre stay at a very lovely hotel. The on-site restaurant was lovely!
Great place in downtown Kitchener
Great place comfortable clean staff very welcoming and friendly. Great location easy walk to restaurants theater and market.
We stayed here because it was well rated and close to the theater where we purchased tickets to see a show (the reason we were in town). It is a lovely modern renovated space. Close to busy shopping and dining and walking distance to the Center in the Square Theater we attended. The on-site restaurant was really good which made the evening easy and very enjoyable
Clean, friendly staff. There is alot of development going on.
Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Nicely decorated
Room was dark, looked nothing like the pictures online and had a very foul smell throughout. Hotel reservations didn't have any other rooms available so I asked for a refund. We did not spend the night and still waiting for refund for the reservation I canceled. The property has no parking Around the property. Hotel only has 8 valet spots on the property but all taken . Be prepared to walk a fair distance and spend $30 / night
Great hotel, super neighbourhood, excellent restos.
Great staff and room! Would stay here again
Felt like home
Very clean and modern. Comfortable rooms and beds
Given the price point compared to other KW hotel, the standard was not met. The washroom area was not clean, tissues missing. The windows faced a wall.
Haven’t been for 20 years ! Upgrades are good and character has been saved and enhanced ! Great Reno
A really well run hotel instead of calling the front desk you text them and it’s done ✔️ great system
Nice hotel. Parking is not good and was not well explained by original front desk on check in. It was inconvenient for the restaurant to stop serving food at 9 on a Friday. We ended up going to the restaurant at the crowne royal. Front desk staff were polite but didn’t offer any assistance when i was carrying all my family’s luggage by myself. Unlikely that I would stay here again.
The property was great. The front desk staff were amazing. Though we were a bit disappointed with our service. On the one night that we ordered room service, they said they had knocked and we didn't open the door. We were there, yet no one knocked for us to open the door. Our food finally arrived after the front desk called to see if we were still in our room. We also had an issue with housekeeping on the 4th day. We left a generous tip mid way of our stay. On the 4th day, when we returned to our room, the towels were not replenished, the sink wasn't wiped down, and there was a tissue on the floor. The last few days, once again our towels were not replenished, so we had to call the front desk. Who ever cleaned our room at midway point, was not the same person as in the beginning. Otherwise, we had a very pleasant stay. And yes, we would stay there again.
Was lovely
Excellent place to stay during Oktoberfest
Great friendly staff comfy bed
Second stay here in one year, great hotel, amazing and helpful staff
Beautiful hotel - room was great-bed was super comfortable. Right downtown close to a lot of bars, restaurants-easy and walkable.
Liked central location. Area around hotel tired & old. Many unfortunate street people frequenting area at night. Not a hotel problem but leaves an unsafe feeling
Beautiful hotel, great room, staff is fantastic
Great location
Great location!!! Can walk to some nice patios and restaurants. The hotel restaurant is excellent!!
The hotel is small and quiet, with pet-friendly options. The rooms are well-appointed with style and minimalist but luxurious furniture and fixings. Customer service is 5 Star with great check in and check out.
Nice bar on the property, beautiful facility, lots of character
Gorgeous hotel
The Walper is a gorgeous hotel. Right downtown, which can make it a little loud with traffic, but not bad. We went as a mini getaway over a weekend. So many restaurants within walking distance, although, we ate at the restaurant located below the hotel called the Social. It was amazing. Food was fantastic. The delux room is beautiful, and spacious. I would recommend this hotel and definitely stay there again.
The Walper was clean, staff were friendly and accommodating, and the are was convenient for a stay in kw.
Loved staying at the Walper. I'm planning my next trip to stay there. Staff was amazing.
Everything was clean and all the amenities were there. Room service was excellent and concierges were very helpful. Would definitely stay here if I visit Kitchener again
Very clean hotel. Accommodating and friendly staff. One of the hotel clerks gave some excellent recommendations for food and drinks around the hotel. The farmer market that’s not too far away was a pleasure. Definitely definitely hope to stay again in the near future
The outside doesn't reflect the inside. Its beautiful hotel in the inside. The washrooms are very spacious (it's a big deal for me). Staffs were very nice and helpful
Clean and conviniently located
Excellent experience
Great service, excellent room and convenient location.
Friendly staff beautiful room
Beds very comfortable- we had a great roomy room but others paying same had very small rooms w small bathrooms.. Great rain shower.. issue checking in as rooms were not available till well after 3 pm but Carabana was on so could have affected cleaning of rooms. Staff were very friendly and apologetic. Dining room in basement- poor signage to get there and totally understaffed although staff very nice.. .
Well done Reno’s, friendly staff, will return here for sure if staying in the area. Special kudos to Juliet at reception, you make people feel welcome :-)
Smartly restored Victorian hotel, with some old world charm...great location in centre of Kitchener.
Great stay!
Great to stay in the ole Walper back visiting my hometown. In town performing for the blues festival and the Walper was the perfect place to stay. Staff here is AWESOME, helpful, super friendly. Room was really nice.
Excellent stay. Close to festival. Front desk staff are so helpful.
Beautiful quiet hotel close to all amenities and beds were. So comfortable.
The Walper Hotel is a nice hotel to stay at when visiting KW. We used it as a convenient jump point to go to Stratford. My main recommendation in favour of choosing Walper is the staff: they sent a welcome message telling us about the parking options, their check-in was very welcoming and helpful. The room was comfortable, well appointed. I would recommend that their TV offerings include some standard channels and options so that visitors don't have to log into their own apps. It took us 15 minutes to log in through the hotel's options because we didn't have certain app loaded on our devices. Overall, a pleasant stay and I would still recommend people to stay here.
Beautiful lady minute stay
Location restaurants and shopping
Great staff. Excellent location. Beautiful building.
One night stay in Walper.
The Walper was very welcoming and very clean. One thing that I loved was how quiet it was. I was never awoken nor disturbed at all.
Awesome hotel! So comfortable and clean!
Great spot downtown kitchener
Hotel was clean and comfortable. Rooms were beautiful. Attentive and friendly staff. Great location close to restaurants downtown.
Loved
Great hotel and amazing rooms.
Nice hotel with historic exterior and renovated interior. Great location in downtown Kitchener with many restaurants in walking distance. Parking is off site but is closer and easier than some hotels with their own parking garage.
Staff are all outstanding!
Uniqueness.
Best Experience
Everything perfect except closing time for the restaurant and the poor internet connexion.
Overall clean unit. Nice staff. A lot of homeless people outside on the streets outside the hotel though. And smelled like pee in the hallways
The staff were warm, helpful and effective. They went above and beyond to make our stay in both the hotel and city enjoyable. We loved the simple and elegant design of the hotel and its proximity to restaurants. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Kitchener Waterloo.
historical building, great front desk, clean.
What a great space! So unique-would absolutely stay here again! Staff was very kind and truly welcoming! Rooms were clean a spacious beautifully decorated! Restaurant was delicious!
The downtown is clean and tidy. However was surprising quiet for a Saturday night in June.
I can’t complain about the room at all. The problem was not the hotels fault. It is extremely noisy, homeless, honking, yelling and construction work. Bring ear plugs.
Our stay was very short and we only slept at the hotel as it was near the venue we were attending.
I was only there for one night and I was completely satisfied with everything
Love this place!
Good room, cool area.

Nice hotel, but a venue for local weddings, so it can be a bit noisy. Not so bad in our actual room though. A lot of homelessness in the area, so the area is a bit squalid because of that.
Very comfortable. Found it a bit noisy outside early in the morning but thats not the hotels fault. Overall would recommend
Walper Wow
Amazing service, friendly & helpful front desk, great sized room (deluxe king) with cozy comfy bed. Modern design mixed with the Victorian building and beautiful, quirky touches. Great amenities nearby and Coffee Culture is a gem!

A very unique hotel. Very Scandinavian vibe. Staff were excellent. Restaurant had good food. The only drawback was that we had to park about 1/2 block away so it’s not really convenient for those that have luggage. Regardless, we would stay here again. The room was spacious!
