Modern and comfortable
While I stayed for one night, I found the room very comfortable and modern, with good views of the city (31st floor). Service was excellent, welcoming and prompt. The room and common spaces were clean and looked very new with no signs of wear or age. Can't comment on the restaurants or bar as I didn't use them. The location is very convenient being 4-5 stops from Ginza and within 25 mins by taxi to Haneda Airport, and right next to Shinagawa Station. Will certainly consider a longer stay here when I return to Tokyo inn the future.
I did not like how the minibar was restocked and charged to our account without acknowledging us. We would’ve wanted them to not restock. Other than that, we had a lovely stay and will stay rate them 5 stars! Thanks for having us
Fantastic hotel. Easy access. Great buffet breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff. Live laid back Jazz music in the bar/lounge area on Wednesday & Thursday evening.
A short walk from Shinagawa station
Beautiful hotel, clean rooms and great location to major train station
Everything about this stay was amazing! Great staff and the room was always kept clean! The breakfast buffet is a must! Lots of options and the food very tasty. Definitely recommend! 10/10.
Very convenient location
Great stay - this hotel had everything we needed for the one night before flying back to the States after a 10 day trip in Kansai area: it was very convenient right by Shinagawa station, it was clean and comfortable. Not the best value as the room was just ok for the price - I imagine the location is what we're mostly paying for.
The staff professionalism
The staff at this property is first class!
Friendly staffs and very convenient location
Excellent hotel and services
Clean and good customer service. Most of the staff can communicate in English.
Love this place!
Love this place!
This is my third stay with this hotel and I fully enjoyed my stay this time as well. Hotel is located only 5 minutes walk from Shinagawa station where you can catch shinkansen train to access other sightseeing spots around Japan. Hotel room is super clean and all hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful. I definitely stay in this hotel again.
Really great property. They were so welcoming and hospitable. I really appreciated them holding all of our luggage while we traveled around Tokyo for a day and then had it ready to go at 5pm which I had mentioned briefly. Their attention to detail was wonderful. The room itself was also great. They had the bed ready and all of our luggage from an earlier stay already in the room for us. Will definitely come back. The hotel is also very close and walkable to the station, very convenient for subway access.
The location is great for the nearby station which you can reach simply through the skyway, no stairs or going down to the street. Really beautiful inside and great views of the city. Room was sizeable, clean, and nice bathroom and shower. Breakfast was great with lots of options and good quality. Very hospitable staff and really appreciated them storing my luggage for an extra night between stays while we visited Fuji. Will definitely come back here.
Excellent bed old carpet quite dated
Great bed and view but old carpet. Very expensive in comparison to other rooms we stayed in Tokyo. Good location. Staff would not consider a discount in spite of second night due to it being ‘busy’ as weekends have weddings.
Concierge services and staff were excellent, very kind and engaging. Location was excellent being next to the Shinagawa station and the Yamanote subway line.
Friendly and hospitable staff with great hotel amenities and in close proximity to train station.
Wonderful, wonderful hotel.
I have stayed at the strings on a number of occasions. This time, it was a week of business filed by a week of pleasure with family members. The staff could not be any better as they are just wonderful. The whole vibe of the hotel is serene. The breakfast offers many choices, both western and Asian foods. The only negative comment I have to make about the hotel is that it’s carpeting in the hallways and guestrooms needs updating.
Wonderful place.
So close to Shinigawa Station
The Strings Shinigawa is an excellent Tokyo Hotel
The Strings Shinigawa has easy/covered walking access on one level to the train station and is close to many restaurants. The hotel and the rooms are excellent; the breakfast buffet is one of the best I have had. Just a great Tokyo hotel to stay in.
This appears to be a older design hotel with rooms facing a large central atrium. Everything about the hotel was very nice except for some minor confusion when we arrived to check in. The confusion arose because you have to go up to the 26th floor to check into the hotel. This fact did not bother me but when you enter the lobby there isn't any sign of a hotel employee to direct you to the 26th floor and this includes porters to help with luggage. Once we got to the 26th floor evereything was very nice but getting there was a bit confusing and unwelcoming. When I mentioned this to the staff at reception they noted that there is a phone on a desk when you enter on the ground floor which can be used to call for assistance. However since the phone is unmarked we had no idea that option was available to us. I think if the hotel would fix this issue with clearer signage in the ground floor lobby it would be much more welcoming to guests. Other than that everything was great. Exceptionally good restuarants as well. Our room was on the 30th floor with sweeping views and we loved looking at the cityscape and lights!
What is so unique about this property is the fact that it is very clean and upscale. What I don’t like about the property is the front desk staff. They seem always overworked and stressed. This percolates to the guests when they are greeted. The front desk seem rude although they may not be but they are always overworked and rushed. They speak English but you can’t understand them because of their accent.
Convenient hotel is business district
We got an upgrade at the cost of 5000 yen pn for a city view. Bed was comfy. Room was quiet. Convenient to JR Train. Walk thru crowd of office workers leaving work bet 6-8pm but walkway is mostly covered which was good for rainy days.
Love This Hotel
Hotel is in a great location near a lot of things. This stay was at the end of an eight-day trip and this was by far the best hotel we've stayed in from Osaka to Tokyo. The staff was great, the restaurant was awesome, and the rooms were phenomenal. A lof of the hotels in Japan are a bit smaller than I am used to being from the US, but this one was very sizable and worth every penny. The bathroom is spectacular. Great stay overall.
The staffs are helpful and nice. The environment is quite and convenient access to train station .
Fantastic modern hotel
Fantastic modern hotel, geat staff, easy atmosphere complemented by an excellent buffet breakfast. Not forgetting the panoramic city views.
Highly Recommended
Fantastic experience. Everything from check in to check out was flawless and the room was wonderful. The location was good, the staff was excellent, the room condition was excellent as well as the hotel itself. Truly a wonderful facility.
LOVED IT
Great
The hotel has a sophisticated feel which is nice. The Rhythmos Bar & Melodia restaurant were excellent.
Dining options in hotel was very limited
Had a fantastic stay at the strings intercontinental Tokyo. Great value, great view, great service, and great dining / breakfast. Will be back the next time I am in Tokyo!
Would like to recognize Ms. Tanaka at the reception desk for all her assistance with our stay and hotel bill.
Absolutely fantastic spot and beautiful rooms.
We loved the surroundingd of the hotel. It's 5-7 mins walk from the Shinagawa station. There are 7-11, and coffee shops right on the ground floor of the hotel. There are also many more choices of dining options in the station. Since the hotel is on the yamanote line, we can ride the train anywhere within Tokyo. Room is spacious enough for a king size bed, one round table, and a lounger. We felt so comfortable in our room after a long day walk. The bed is heavenly. Staff are friendly and eager to help. We felt like coming home everyday during our trip.
Clean rooms Easy access
Perfect hotel
An enjoyable stay
Conveniently located next to the train station, making it convenient to commute to and fro Haneda airport and access to the rest of the city. Check in process was efficient and fast. The receptionist was polite and friendly. The room feels modern and spacious, comfortable and clean, has a good view too.
Big room size
Great central, clean and welcoming
The room was modern and clean. The were super friendly and accommodating. Recommend this hotel for location; very accessible for main train line and shops/eateries.

We will return and recommend to others
Super easy to walk to from Shinagawa train station. Lots of local options to eat with the low prices to match at the ramen and udon shops. Sushi too. McDonald’s also. 7-11 and Lawson stores too for late night drinks and food.
Great place. Would definitely stay here again!
Amazing staff. They let us borrow umbrellas for the entirety of our visit. Beds where the most comfiest I've ever slept in and the view was amazing from the 36th floor. Location is surrounded by places to see and eat and only less than 10 minutes away to the train station.
excellent location
Good place to base yourself
We used two rooms during this week. My wife and I stayed in the standard room. It was spacious, in my opinion, by Tokyo standard. My daughter's family with a baby girl stayed in a larger one. The room is more impressive with a super king size bed. There was still a lot space left even after adding a crib. The location was the key factor as it is so near the Shinagawa Station as we planned only using public transport the week we stayed in Tokyo. This is a 5-star luxury even though it is not a huge hotel. It is quiet and super clean. Unfortunately we were not able to try their restaurants because we were always busy in town. There was a time when they delivered the tea bags which were different from what I requested. After I mentioning the issue to the front desk, the young lady receptionist followed by a room maid came up to apologize. I was impressed by their follow-up service, reflecting their high quality Japanese culture. We really enjoyed staying at this hotel.
Very friendly staff who will do anything to satisfy you.
This is a good location next to the Shinagawa station. The property is older with limited amenities but rooms are good size. My main concern was the lack of good English communications of front desk staff making it difficult to get accurate information. Don’t think this property lived up to a Five Star reputation and room rates were too high for the poor quality of staff knowledge.
Hotel is very nice and the staff was extremely kind. It’s conveniently located next to the Shinagawa train station so all areas of Tokyo were easily reachable. I would stay here again for sure.
The hotel was very convenient to everything - shopping and dining, and the JR Line. The service was very good, from the time we checked in until checkout (assistance with luggage, accommodating a late checkout, calling taxi service). We had afternoon tea in the lounge while waiting for our flight and it was excellent.
Good property but far from places
This was my first time in Japan and I had heard that Japanese hotels are good and this one did not disappoint! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was really good with an amazing Japanese toilet! The hairdryer was the best hotel hairdryer I have ever used. The bed was soo comfy. The breakfast was really good. A good selection of western and eastern foods and the staff were on hand for teas and coffees. I didn’t use the restaurants they had but I’m sure that are good if the rest of the hotel is anything to go by. The hotel is in a very convenient area being right next to Shinagawa station and has list of shops and restaurants nearby. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Highly recommended!
Great hotel and buffet breakfast, not too much to explore in the area because it's a business zone. Conveniently located right by the Shinigawa station!
Conveinient to transportation. Friendly with English speaking staff.
Very clean and spacious room. Location is excellent - only a few minutes walk from Shinagawa JR station and with direct access to Narita and Haneda airport. Staff are nice and helpful. Only thing I would complain about is the gym - very very small and limited machines.
Great service from the staff.
Pleasant stay at the hotel
Management is very amenable when you have an issue and will resolve it quickly and satisfactorily. Emailing the hotel seems to be a waste of time as no one takes the time to respond.
I liked the cleanliness of the property and for Tokyo there was less hustle and bustle about the hotel. The hotel also isn’t that large and so there aren’t that many people. What I didn’t like was the front desk person. She had an air about her that wasn’t too friendly.
Notified me they would not honor my reservation the day before it started without explanation.
Super clean, everything is disinfected. AC is super quiet.
Excellent well maintained hotel that keeps some Japanese style like modern bath with Japanese touch
Amazing by all means. Room, lobby, environment. Japanese prefection
A little tricky to find, but worth it when you get there.
Amazing hotel and staff, the GM is particularly friendly and loved by the staff
Amazing view of the city! I was here to quarantine so was not able to enjoy as much of its amenities, but the room service was great and the room itself was amazing!
Great location. Awesome view. Will stay here again
Great hotel with good transport links
Very comfortable hotel with great links to metro, trains and both Tokyo airports
Convenient business hotel
Great location, walking distance from Shinagawa station, which has great rail connections, including Narita Express and Express train from Haneda. Many of our business meetings were only a short distance from the hotel, and lots of eating options nearby.
Close to JR station
Less than 5 min walk from JR station on the footbridge, Hotel is located at 26th floor, all the room are on 27-32 floor, has a good view of city.
Great stay
Great service, nice room with awesome view.
Convenient location near train station. Beautiful hotel with gorgeous views. We woke up to see Mt Fuji. Friendly staff who took care of us after a long day of travel. Highly recommended.
Everything was good except the check in time. Needed to wait till 6 pm when my room was ready.
The location is excellent you can get anywhere you want really fast by train.
The hotel is clean and quite. The staff are very helpful and nice. The location is good and it near to the station. A lot of food places to eat.
The train station is so near. It is so quite place
Nice hotel. Very helpful staff. Good location next to train station.
Hotel conveniently located next to Shinagawa Station, which makes going around the city easy. Staff are welcoming and friendly, going out of their way to accommodate guest requests.
If you are planning to visit Tokyo, this hotel is an excellent option. First off, its located right above Shinagawa train station, which gives you easy and quick access not only to all of Tokyo but all of Japan as well. The other notable thing about this hotel, is that its lobby is on 26th floor. Even the most basic room will never be facing a wall or an air conditioning duct. On this note, all hotel rooms offer absolutely breathtaking views of Tokyo both during day and night time. The room are also of outstanding quality and finish. There is excellent dining in hotel and in the building complex around it. Also, front desk has a very knowledgeable concierge.
Great location for public transport, lovely room and view over Tokyo. Had one meal in the restaurant and it was absolutely appalling. Finally the beds and pillows were the most uncomfortable we’ve ever experienced. Both my wife and I have suffered bad necks and backs since our stay.
Great option for easy transport
Clean rooms and attentive staff. Great option for easy access to Shinagawa station!
Great stay despite typhoon
Great hotel. We were there during Typhoon Hagibis and really appreciate the staff working throughout this event. The information board was helpful to keep us updated and despite almost everything else being closed in Tokyo, the staff kept the restaurant going. The room was very large (compared to others in Japan) and very comfortable. Views of Tokyo Bay and the station were very nice as well. We felt very comfortable and safe during the typhoon.
The service was absolutely amazing .
Convenient. Super friendly upon greeting. Helpful concierge whenever assistance was needed. Loved Kazuro; he was always so friendly and pleasant.
I particularly liked the staff in all areas of the hotel, the rooms were spacious and clean. What I particularly liked was the universal powerpoints. I didn't need to take out the travel converter between Australia and Japan.
Happy to be back
Very good experience overall. Front desk staff really made an effort to provide a comfortable room for my family. Especially want to mention the helpful, efficient and friendly concierge staff who offered great tips on food and travel arrangements. Wonderful!
Service & attention to details by staff. The staff make you feel welcomed. Rooms have a great sweeping view of Tokyo’s Shinagawa Station area. It is within walking distance to many shops & restaurants. It is an excellent location for the JR rail connections to other prefectures.
Exceptional!
Beautiful property with quick access to trains. Service is excellent. We are returning after a visit to the countryside.
