Nice place to stay in Rome
Very nice host. The location is very walkable to the Vatican City and there is a bus stop right across the street that goes to city center of Rome. The building is a bit old but the rooms are cleaned everyday.
The worst experience in all my years of traveling to Rome I defenetely don’t recomend it
Good location near to the Vatican. Helpful host.
Disappointing experience
I recently stayed at this hotel and was disappointed with my experience. While I understand that it's a budget-friendly option, I still expected a certain level of quality and service. Unfortunately, the room was not suitable for the number of guests it was advertised to accommodate. The check-in process was also more complicated than necessary, requiring us to wait for the admin to respond to our messages. Upon entering the room, I was surprised to find that it was not clean and tidy. The refrigerator had leftover food from previous guests, the floor was dirty, and the balcony was in a poor state. When I brought these issues to the attention of the admin, they did not take responsibility for the cleanliness of the room and only partially addressed the issues. The bathroom was also lacking in basic amenities, such as towels and hand soap. I had to go out and purchase these items myself, which was inconvenient. The bathroom features and amenities were also subpar, with a broken shower and low water pressure. The internet connection in the room was slow and unreliable, and stopped working altogether towards the end of my stay. When I reported this issue, I did not receive a response from the admin. Overall, I was disappointed with my stay at this hotel and would not recommend it to others.
Good location but room very outdated. There was no staff on site. IT looked like one big room divided in 4 bedrooms.
I could not find the building immediately but it is inside of a very charming building and very close to everything.
We had never seen the staff during our stay.
Couple of days in Rome
This is a great place for a short stay. great location, and Paola was so helpful and provided all the local knowledge and information we needed, she was always available if we needed her assistance
Pope's window not available, moved to Via Tritone
Unfortunately, we were put in alternative accommodation so I'll start the review by saying I can't comment on the pope's window. If you are also moved to an alternative booking, mine was Tritone 125 suite, located in Via Tritone. The apartment is actually more expensive to rent I believe but it's located in an expensive area of Rome, so have this in mind. The apartment Aircon is poor, it was 24 degrees in the apartment with Aircon on. Paola is a good host in that she communicates well and is very helpful.
Location was very very close to Vatican City and Paola was really helpful and got all the information you need easy to get in and out all good.lots of eateries around with reasonable prices compare to some other places.
Paola was very responsive and helpful! Communication was mostly through WhatsApp. Room was a good place to stay a day before my cruise.
The accommodations were very nice and Paola was an excellent host. Very close to Vatican.
Great location to visit the Vatican, just 5 minutes walk. Paola the hostess was really helpful responding all our questions and concerns. The place was clean and spacious. My only suggestion is about the breakfast .. It is not breakfast bit a really good coffee. I will be back for sure. Paola makes the difference.
I had a wonderful stay at The Pope's Window. Close to the Vatican, food, and a shopping mall. I was alone and felt extremely safe walking around the area at night. Paola was an excellent host. There was a wifi connection problem but she was very accommodating and took the time to give me directions on how to get around. I took the bus to the square to see the Pantheon and the Trevi fountain. It was super convenient. The room was super clean and I had access to a TV and air-conditioning. Paolo recommended a great restaurant Cresi for breakfast. I had such a good time that I hope to visit again!
Amazing staff!
Planned a 17 day graduation trip for our son. Our family stayed at a variety of accommodations, but Pope's Window was definitely our favorite! They hit all the marks with cleanliness, a comfortable mattresses, great bedding quality, a beautifully decorated space, amazing balcony view but Paola turned our stay to an amazing experience! She reached out a couple of days prior to welcome us and met us in person at check in. We were only in Rome for a day, so she suggested her favorite dinner and breakfast spots which were amazing, helped with understanding how to get around the city/to the airport and the popular spots to make the most of the time we had to enjoy the city. There are lots of great hotels out there, but the people with passion, that care about their guests make all the difference!
Excellent, Exceptional service Thank You so much, Paola.
Everything was broken, from the shower door to the door knob to the refrigerator. The only good thing about this property is the location.
Pros: good location, easy walk to the Vatican, nice cafe’s and restaurants nearby, spacious room, good a/c. Cons: no one on site when we arrived (mid morning) or checked out, the B&B shared space was dark and gloomy (shutters closed), our room smelled musty, the shower door was dangerously flimsy (with a handwritten warning note advising to open gently), comfy bed but only two very flat pillows. Paola communicated well by text and did give us a few good restaurant recommendations. All in all, the location was a plus but the room was average. Wouldn’t return.
Paola has done a WONDERFUL job of capturing my goal of making our stay as close as possible to “being a local”without skimping on the luxuries of a quality hotel!. We could stay there for weeks on end if only we didn’t have to return to reality. Six out of five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Perfect Spot
The spot, room, bed and pillow were perfect. Nice quiet large room. Just a few buildings near the taxi stand.
Wonderful place to stay with a wonderful host! Thank you and I will definitely be back!!
a nice, quirky place. It's a few rooms in a bigger apartment building. Ours had cool directions. The bathroom was nice, and even had a blue light for nights. The area good--literally steps from the Vatican, and close to restaurants and markets. It's also close to a bus line to tourist sites but we didn't use that. The host mostly communicated via Whatsapp, but that worked well and we met her when she came by to clean the rooms.
Great location, and very friendly management, highly recommended.
Our host Paola was wonderful. I loved the charm and cleanliness of our apartment and Paola was available for anything we needed. Bust stop and other shopping available right in the neighborhood with Vatican City 2 blocks away. We thoroughtly enjoyed our stay and will not hesitate to use the Pope's Window for our next trip to Rome.
Walking distance to Vatican. Pauola is very nice. Breakfast was a coffee machine and tea bags.
Contactless check in was explained well, good communication. Very clean room, good value for money. 5 min walk to Vatican City, excellent for exploring the area.
My room was reasonably clean and bed comfortable, no microwave no iron/ironing board.Lots of space, hot shower, outstanding location most unfortunate was the TV was really not useable bcause even after choosing English as my preferred language and English subtitles the only stations available to understand was music video channels- about 3 out of around 30 channels total.Additionally,But the deal breaker for me was the checkin procesd was terribleI messaged the proprietor a little after 630am to asked about breakfast options but no response until after we already found somewhere and had our breakfast elsewhere.Check-in took 30 plus minutes due to difficulty understanding my hosts English- we even got buzzed in to an already occupied room which shocked us and the other individuals, understandably so.
Location was very convenient for our stay. The room was very comfortable and property manager Paola was very helpful and extremely responsive !
Great Experience
Great experience. Checkin was a breeze, space was as described. Great location
.
Location was great and the room was clean and beautiful.
Excellent hotel
Great guesthouse near the Vatican.
Really great little guesthouse. It is one block from the Vatican. There is an elevator and the AC was cold. Shower food and Paolo was a very nice host. Supermarket and nice cafe across the street. 10/10.
I booked The Pope’s Window when I managed to squeeze in a visit to Roma & Vatican City on my recent European vacation. I read the amazing reviews and how charming Paola was... I just had a good vibe about the place. Upon arriving... Paola greeted me and gave me some really helpful tips. She’s very personable, yet it came naturally. Genuine friendly! I was given the Utopia Room just to the left of the reception. It was perfecto... for me a single occupant. It’s clean, tastefully decorated, and the thick walls gives you peace and quiet. The bonus was that it is located in Vatican City... and just minutes away from all the special spot within the walls. The metro lines are also close too. Loved it! My only regret is I didn’t get the chance to stay longer. I had a flight to Paris the next morning. Yet, Paola was there with a cup of tea and a sweet goodbye. On a positive note I promised to return to Roma and the Vatican City. Paola will be the first person I contact on my next visit! Grazi!
Only stayed two nights waiting for the refund on the third. The staff was lovely
Great location. Simple, quiet digs close to Vatican, Vestevere and public transportation. Super helpful staff!
Rome - a ave to stay
Paula is fantastic! Helpful, friendly and good English. She added a lot to our trip with helpful tips and directions. Property is well situated to Transit and great laundry service across the street.
We had the most amazing stay! Its a s
Awesome
Super friendly. The room is very comfortable. Great breakfast (with some awesome deserts). The coffee is great. The shower is fairly small and ours was missing a screw meaning if you touched it wrong it would throw the shower head off. But it is worth it for the location. You can walk to the Vatican which is amazing.
Such a lovely welcome, spotlessly clean and excellent location.
First the Location. Second the friendly staff. My kids said that ot was their favorite hotel of all.
I loved the atmosphere and cute unique style of the place. Room was great and bed was comfortable. View was great! Paulo was outstanding and went out of her way to convenience us!! Location was perfect!! Loved it!!
Really helpful friendly staff. Excellent location 5 minutes from St Peters Square. Would definitely stay there again. Xx
We had a fantastic stay. Staff is incredibly caring and helpful and they went above and beyond in every way. Truly made us feel at home and cared for!
Well maintained. Bigger than expected room! Bus to and from train terminal across the road. Shops and eateries within walking distance! Most important, Vatican is almost like a stone’s throw from the B&B! Paula is such a great hostess!
My wife and I stayed here a year ago today. (11/2 through 11/5 2018) and absolutely love it!! We stayed in the Pope's Window suite with the balcony that looks towards Vatican square. It was great to have such a large room compared to others we saw during our time in Rome. This small boutique hotel with a great history feel. When you first arrive, you get buzzed in the main door and can take a cool vintage elevator to the entrance of the hotel. This is a great launching spot for just about anything you would like to do during your stay in Rome. You are walking distance from the Vatican (5 mins), multiple restaurants (1-10 mins) and there is a bus stop right out front to get you anywhere not within walking distance. Across the street there is a small convenience store with just about anything you need (wine, beer, snacks, water, etc.). The staff was excellent, very informative and helpful. I would strongly recommend speaking with the staff before your arrival to arrange a car service from the airport (~$50 euro) it's well worth it!! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!!
Great location; excellent housekeeping of very nice and lárge; wonderful breakfast service a small portion (i.e. croissants rolls) delivered to room if we were leaving for a tour at very early hour; Paolo was a concierge who was out of this world and arranged EACH of our areas in which we needed help touring or staying, we HOPE she is there the next time we go to Rome, but we think she is so competant that may not happen.
Excellent close to Vaticano
Very nice, close ro Vaticano PAOLA front desk excelent service
The property was clean and tidy and Paolo was amazing and went above and beyond
Close to sites very informative with directions clean and homely
It is charming and the staff was helpful and friendly! It was also close to the Vatican!
Lovely property, located close to Vatican City but away from tourist crowds. Quiet, spacious rooms with really comfortable beds. Paola was absolutely fantastic, and couldn't have been more helpful during our stay. I would definitely stay here again!
Me and my husband stayed here on 7th-10th October 2019. Popes window is a beautiful place to stay. Exceptional clean and very close to amenities. St Peters square and Vatican is just down the road. Paola went above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Breakfast was simply delicious. We would highly recommend staying here and we would stay here again if we were to visit Rome again. Thanks so much Paola for your hospitality. 10/10 :)
The owner, Paulo, was extraordinarily helpful! She went above and beyond to arrange transportation for an older couple and followed through with every detail before they arrived, while they were there and as they departed. Wonderful “customer service “ or simply genuine hospitality and care!
View was amazing, room was huge and our host was so welcoming!
We have never stayed at a B&B type property but after reading reviews about The Popes Window we decided to give it a try. It was the best decision we could have made! Paola was amazing and so friendly and helpful. We felt like we had known her forever. She helped us find our way and gave great dinner ideas. Our room was wonderful and so clean! We would definitely stay there again if we ever return to Rome.
Paula was very knowledgeable and friendly. Wish there's more variety with the breakfast.
All the staff were lovely and accommodating. The service provided was excellent and all the staff truly went above and beyond to look after us. Stayed right next to Vatican city so was a real bonus. Would recommend highly to anyone looking to stay here.
Let’s start with the staff; Paola is very friendly and accommodating, helped us with our inquiries, made our stay here a home away from home; rooms are clean, very spacious and the bathrooms are too; WiFi is excellent; and it’s only about 5 minutes away from St. Peter’s Square. It has a supermarket and several restaurants around it; I would recommend it to my friends and I would book it the next time I visit Rome.
1. Paola is very warm and accomodating. She is very helpful and can be relied on. I will recommend this place to my friends. 2. The place is 3 blocks away from St. Peter’s square. 3. It is clean, quiet and accessible to everything you need.
Excellent option for Rome. Could easily be a 4 star hotel. Paola, our hostess, was always available and very kind to my family. I recommend the Pope’s window to anybody who wants to visit Rome.
Fantastic location for Rome St Peters Square around the corner (3 mins). Paola made you feel you were her number one customer and could not do enough to make you feel at home.
The staff here was very attentive, caring, humble and very social! Thank you for making this trip easier for us and being accessible at any point of our day. Will definitely recommend this to any first timers and/or frequent flyers!
I really like the cleanliness and the good treatment. Coffee and amenities in the morning. Very well located
This was the first time staying a B&B. I am use to a major chain hotel which I love but this time I decided to try a B&B. For the price, you cant beat it. The location is perfect. You can literally see St. Peter's from your front window and its only a 2 block walk. Safe area with several restaurant choices around the immediate area. The ONLY issue I had with it was the shower was way too small. Its doable if your 200 lbs. or less but over that, forget it. The owners were always available and were really nice people. Breakfast was great also. I would definitely recommend if your into doing B & B.
The absolute best quality of the Pope’s Window is Paula and Paulo - they answered all our queries, and when we arrived provided a map and talked through which buses to take to each landmark (and did this in detail !). Every morning Paula was there to make our drinks for us, and it is a really lovely touch when someone can remember your drinks orders (and also your names).
Location is perfect. 5 minute walk from St Peter’s Square. Lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. Comfortable room. Paola was a brilliant hostess.
Paola and his wife Paula were very friendly and helpful in helping US find best ways to get around Rome
Great service by great people! Very friendly and helpful. I will stay here again.
Good location for a B&B - 5 mins walk from the Vatican City. Bus stop for bus into centre right outside. Hosts were welcoming and helpful, giving us many tips about Rome. Room was clean and bright and airy with good air-conditioning, nice shower and all the things you need (hairdryer, shampoo etc). Cafes and small shops very close. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again if in Rome.
The property was great.. we stayed for two day and the service was fantastic. No complaints and super close to everything..
Overall we had a great experience here. Paola was very helpful with everything. There’s no metro close by (about 15 mins walk) but there’s a bus accessible in front of the building and grocery store. Wifi is great.
Perfect stay, Paula was the perfect host made us feel welcome from the start and very informative! our room was nice and clean and in a great location!! Breakfast was an added bonus!! I would recommend staying here to anyone!!
Close to Vatican. Alicia and Paula were great! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Excellent room and excellent service.
The hospitality was amazing! They really went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Although there is not a ton of public transportation, it was worth it! Would come here again. Metro is about a 15 minute walk, which would not be horrible if it weren’t for carrying luggage. But the hospitality, amenities, and cleanliness well made up for it!
Wonderful family stay in perfect location
Great location, could see St Peters square from our balcony (only neverland room for 4 has a balcony). Very easy to find using their address. No sign but you can see the name listed on gold plate by door buzzer. It was loud outside but with windows and doors closed it was quiet enough. Room had AC although we didn’t need to use it. Main bed was very comfortable with nice linens. Fold out sofa was not quite as comfortable. Bathroom is nice, although shower is tiny. They provide soap and shampoo but no conditioner. Breakfast is served buffet style from 8-10am, you grab a tray and take back to your room. The hosts are very nice. They have cereal, juice, pastries, small sandwiches, American or Italian coffee. They will keep your bags for you after you check out and give you a key to get back in. We enjoyed our stay and would gladly stay here again. Pizza Nizza across the street was good and Quattro Mori around the corner was AMAZING. We walked everywhere, except to airport. Taxi stand is basically across the street and it costs a flat $30 to Ciampino. There’s a post office just down the street as well, in St Peter’s square.
Location was great. Room was spacious, spotlessly clean with fresh towels stocked every day and the staff were wonderful. The continental buffet breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Coffee was brewed freshly when you were ready and you could eat as much as you wanted. From check in to check out everybody was very helpful (despite us arriving after 10pm) and went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied. One (very) minor negative is the noisy plumbing. This is a B&B in a shared apartment block so the room en-suites have their own macerator pump system which can be a bit noisy but this did not detract anything from our stay at The Pope’s Window. If we ever return to Rome - it’s here we will stay!
Paula & Alessia were excellent hists. Rooms were so tidy and ckean. Huge room with a balcony, overlooking the Vatican...so nearby! Breakfast choice was good, breakfast in bed or balcony.. as its an old building there was some plumbing issues 1 day which were rectified quickly.
Great location, central to lots of activities. You felt like you were living as a local..
So convenient! Close ( 1 block to the access tunnel) to San Peter Square.I was there with my family of 4. Everything was perfect!
The Popes Window is perfectly located to enjoy all Rome has to offer. Everything is in walking distance and every turn you see something amazing! St Peter’s Square is literally 4 minutes walk from the front door. It’s also the quieter part of town, so we felt relaxed and almost like locals! The team at The Popes Window made our stay so comfortable and seamless. From the taxi waiting for us at the airport, to the detailed map of the local area and recommendations for place to eat. They were also able to cater for my dietary requirements, which made a massive difference as this is often a challenge. They honestly couldn’t do enough! I cannot recommend the Popes Window more highly. It was EXCELLENT and we will definitely be back! Thank you to Paola and Alessia!
The property was a couple minute walk to Vatican city and nearby restaurants. The staff was amazing very friendly and helpful with all our questions.
The hostess, Paola, was so cooperative and tried to help in every way possible. We had a great time there. I would come back, if we ever went back to Rome again.
The staff was wonderful - friendly and helpful. Location is great will definitely stay here again if the opportunity arises.
Excellent location, well managed, clean & very hos
excellent location, very near the south side of the Vatican with very convenient bus service from Roma Termini train station. And Paola, the manager, is a wonderful, helpful host! I suggest giving them a call to discuss special "deals" before booking!
The Pope’s Window location is truly unique. It is just a few steps away from Vatican, This B&B is in an older building that needs maintenance, bu the B&B is very well kept. Rooms are big and clean. Bed was very comfortable. The hair dryer works like a charm. Lots of restaurants, bars, cafes, even a market and the train station. The bus stops in front of the building. This is a true gem, Modestia, made our time extra special. Thank you!
Great staff and service. Paolo and Paola were very helpful, they provided all information we needed.
This place is awesome! Paola was so accommodating and made sure we had what we needed even though we were out of the room before the breakfast every day. I would definitely stay here again. Within steps of St. Peter’s Square. 💯❤️
Perfect Stay Next to Vatican City
The Pope's Window was hands-down the best hotel experience we had while in Italy. Paola allowed us to check in at 11am and was incredibly helpful in helping us plan the rest of our trip. She even had breakfast sent to our room the night before we left Rome so we would have something to eat before our very early train. The hotel itself was incredibly clean and comfortable. The air conditioning worked perfectly (could not say the same for all of the hotels we stayed at in Italy), and the bathroom was a great size with good lighting. The hotel is small with only a few rooms, but it operates with the utmost cleanliness, professionalism, and service. The location was fantastic - right across from Vatican City in a cute little street with several wonderful restaurants (we highly recommend Pizza Zizza for a quick bite). We will absolutely stay here again if we come back to Rome - you can't get a better value than The Pope's Window.
This bed and breakfast is only 2 blocks from the Vatican. You are able to walk to many places in the area. Paola was great to work with. She helped arrange transportation or directions to and from her place when ever we needed it. Paola keeps everything neat and clean. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Great location to St. Peter’s square. Just a quick block away. The pillars could be seen out my windows.
Good quiet location. Close to the Vatican. Excellent service by friendly staff. Fresh breakfast. Breakfast table in room could have been a bit bigger as only really adequate for one person.
It was a great location, it was immaculate and Paolo was the greatest hostess, always willing to help and assist.
The hosts Paola and her sister were very nice and helpful. The room is very comfortable. The location is great! Walking distance (about a block) to Vatican City. The Pope's window is also across the street from a bua stop that can take you to any major tourist points. My family and I rode the bus and it was knly 1,50€ and we got to see most of the land marks. I would truly recommend this place.
The Pope's Window was fantastic! We will definitely come back on our next visit to Rome. I simply cannot fault a single thing. Before even arriving the staff were on hand to answer any questions that I had via email and WhatsApp, it felt as if I already knew them before we got there! The reception we received upon arrival was warm, friendly, very helpful and informative. Better than any check-in I've experienced before. The room was enormous and the high ceilings only made it seem bigger. All the facilities were great and the memory foam mattress was unbelievably comfortable, so much so that I will definitely be getting one at home!! The location is ideally placed to see the Vatican and only a short walk from the metro, although it is easy enough to walk into the centre of Rome without it. During our stay it was my girlfriends Birthday, and she was greeted with a surprise breakfast which was a lovely touch and I cannot thank them enough for doing that without me asking.
Excellent location and great service from Paolo and her team. Made us feel very welcome
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Pope's Window. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Convenient location: a stone's throw from the Vatican; just across the river from Rome's historic centre; three-minutes walk from San Pietro railway station; the 64 bus (to the Roma Termini railway station, via the centre of Rome) stops just across the street. Above all, the host, Paula, is brilliant: very friendly and helpful - using her laptop to help us sort out timetables and plan our itinerary. She also speaks excellent English.
I liked it's uniqueness !! But mostly the two ladies who run the property were wonderful ! Helpful, friendly and welcoming, which made for a great experience. Noel

Everything was fine, but I didn't know what AirB&B was. I thought it was a hotel. I was traveling and didn't have internet... I thought I might arrive late, I had already paid for the night... but nobody opened the door for me... the building was closed. I couldn't communicate.
