This is my favorite hotel ever
Street by hotel dirty and with groups of down and out people. Made you feel unsafe.
Comfortable but location is disturbing
Hotel was great but the location did not feel safe after sunset. There was shady guys/men walking past as it is the direction to “red light area”. Foot path leading to hotel was also smelly with urine and during the day, you can see people smoking weed and some passed out on the side of the road. Ok for couples without children. Sadly not a place we would return to stay tho.
Close to main train station about 10 minutes walk
Staff were helpful and friendly
Less than 5 min walk from train station Best bet for lunch and dinner in this area is to eat at the train station. Room was small but comfortable. The 18 Euro hotel breakfast is worth it
The hotel itself is fine. The staff are great. The room was a little small but clean and comfy. The area it is in is just awful. When you are confronted by people going number 2 in street right in front of the property, and the area is full of drug addicts using pipes, smashing bottles & ladies of the night. I did not feel at all safe in the area. And the smell. It is not natural.
Friendly staff who were very helpful as we didn’t know the area. The rooms were very clean and the bathroom was brilliant.
Lovely hotel with great staff. Safe and well managed and quiet rooms. It is in a rough area but handy for the train station
Near transportation
The location to the city.
In general the hotel was nice, the room was a bit small, no closet and no space for 2 overseas travelers to even open the shuitcases, there was also no desk to work on computer, bathroom nice, no room asmmenties, no coffee machine etc.
Clean and conveniently located near the train station.
Our stay was phenomenal, it is around a rough part of the city..but technically most hotels are these days anyway. Front staff was amazingly kind, Michael and the team were always very friendly and attentive to our needs. Rooms were a bit small, and it did not seem that they had queens only rather two twins put together, making it difficult to not fall into the middle. Otherwise, its a typical hotel not perfect but very comfortable and accommodating. We will be back again.
It was really quiet
Lack of knowledge of receptionists.
Nice
Area of the train station is not so nice
Nice people and covalence to go anywhere
The staff were very nice and the property inside was cleaned / acceptable. The outside of the property was a bit untidy and a bit smelled of urine as you walked towards the Main Street.
It was a good hotel and a good stay, but I specially booked a queen bedroom and was assigned 2 separate double beds. Other than that, the hotel and the room were as expected.
Area is surrounded by tweakers
Beautiful modern hotel with upgraded rooms and bedding. Breakfast Buffett is excellent and service is outstanding. Area outside the hotel has issues with drug users and red light area down the street, but that is to be expected around a major train station. Police patrols the outside area on the hour all the time.
staffs are very friendly and nice
LOCATION - Great staff.
Hotel good but check in was poor.
As we were expecting to arrive at the hotel around 0530 we decided to reserve a room from the previous day to guarantee a room on our arrival as we had been travelling overnight. We informed the hotel of this at the time of booking and I sent a reminder via Hotels.com a few days prior to our check in. On arrival the receptionist said they did not have our reservation and could not check us in. I showed him our Hotels.com confirmation number which included that our reservation had been paid in full. After some debate the receptionist finally agreed to create a new reservation to allow us to check in. On our last morning we had no hot water however I think that this likely to be an isolated incident. The room was on the small side however was comfortable. The hotel is only a 5 minute walk from the train station although the area around the hotel is not the best so just be aware of your surroundings.
Was a nice property with kind staff
Outstanding place
Great Hotel Friendly staff
In the rougher part of Frankfurt, but once you're in the hotel, it's very safe! To be honest, walking around was quite safe too, just a little confronting if you've not seen that before!!
Very satisfied for the price. I stayed in one in Kiel 2 years ago. Both were good value for the price. This one -- in Frankfurt am Main -- was noisy outside in the middle of the night. No problem with other guests based on noise.
GREAT accommodations for the price. and a fair price too ! No doubt I will be back someday. I was impressed. walk across the street from the main train station in Frankfurt . Plenty of restaurants around, as well as in the train station too.
Found a baby cockroach on my bed right before I went to sleep
.
The hotel is excellent. It is extremely clean with updated appliances and facilities. Excellent and vast breakfast provided. The area around the hotel is not ideal. Tons of drug activity and prostitution. But it is in walking distance to the Main train station which can take you anywhere. Very convenient. I never felt unsafe, but be prepared for that area of town. Just a short couple blocks walk is a very nice restaurant district.
Good for a Few Days But...
Honestly, the hotel is fine. Most of the staff we encountered were very helpful. The area the hotel is in is close to a lot of useful places, HOWEVER, the area it is in is infested with drug dealers and users. With that said, the drug dealers and users are about their business if you mind your own.
no cups for toothbrushing, no fridge , unsafe location, no tissue
Beautiful, brand newly remodeled modern property. Surrounded by junkies on every corner for a few blocks. Looks very unsafe but very safe to walk as junkies mostly keep to themselves. Was a slight billing issue and worked with expedia and hotel and was fixed right up. Top floor breakfast was 5-star. Highly recommended safe clean quiet place to crash.
Great hotel in a smetchy surroundings
Located really closed to Frankfurt central station, a couple of blocks away. Renovated facility and friendly staff, comfy beds and super clean. Everything was great but block surroundings was sketchy after dark hours, junkies and dealers crowd the streets by midnight. Daytime is good to be outside but be careful after sunset
Nice hotel with scary approach road
Hotel was very good. But the apprioch road to the hotel is scary with so many drug sellers and drug addicts. Not the mistake to Joel but the Frankfurt station area itself is like that..
Great but not the location
The quality of the hotel was amazing and the staff super friendly. However the area in which the hotel is located is not the best. We are from another country and I was not expecting being surrounded by homelessness, prostitutions, drug use and drug distribution.
Great service from the staff. Rooms clean and just what we wanted for the money we paid. There is a good choice of food for breakfast. The only issue is that the hotel is located in the middle of frankfurts drug problems. They don’t bother you but it’s such a shame to see and can may you feel uneasy. Thank you though , we enjoyed our stay.
Rooms were great and I would come back again. Would be nice if the roof top breakfast area transitioned into a place to have a drink at the end of the day - but I'm sure they are worried who might wander in off the street.
The hotel is very well maintained and the rooms are really nice. Other area seems a little dingy though ! Smell of pee on the streets and people trying to peddle illicit substances.
The hotel is wonderful. New, modern, nice. The breakfast was really good. They have a pancake maker and a coffee machine that makes various kinds of coffee with good taste. The bed was comfortable and nice. The hotel is close to the main train station and convenient for that reason. The area around the hotel is not so nice. It is dirty and full of drug addicts and drunks. There are a lot of people doing drugs and using needles on the sidewalks near the hotel.
The hotel it self is nice and comfortable, the staff friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was really good with gluten free options and a great variety of food for all preferences.. The area looks dangerous but it really wasn’t. Lots of junkies outside but the police keeps then on check. If you are traveling for business I will recommend it since is conveniently located near public transportation. If you are traveling with kids I do not recommend you stay here simply because of the drug addicts that gather in the area! I don’t think it’s a good sight for children. I am a female ( Honduran) and I did not feel in danger but my husband who is American felt uncomfortable because of all the junkies around. I guess it depends of what you consider “threatening”. It is really a shame to be honest because the Hotel it self is nice and the employees really try their best to make your stay comfortable
Within walking distance to Frankfurt main station
Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Room was clean, comfortable, and everything worked properly. Delicious buffet breakfast was available for a reasonable fee. Close proximity to the train station made travel around Frankfurt and surrounding areas very convenient. Some areas near the hotel weren't very safe, but avoiding them wasn't really that difficult. I would recommend this hotel, but not for families with children. Auf Wiedersehen. See you next time.
The hotel is nice we stay 2 nights here but they didn’t clean our room and give us new towels.
The only negative about this place is the smell of urine in the alley outside. Besides that, its a great hotel inside. Staff were incredibly helpful, the room was clean and quiet, and the beds were comfortable. Plus, its right next to the 11 and 14 trams to get you to the Romerberg, and the Hauptbahnhaf is 2 minutes away. Stay here for your neyour tripa
Beautiful pearl in a polluted part of sea!
Very nice new hotel. Staff very friendly. Absolutely the best free breakfast buffet we have had at a hotel. Close to trains and local transportation. The neighborhood is not very good. Homeless and drug dealers at meny corners, The police walking the area most of the time. We would not go out after dark. Recommend opening up 7th floor bar for guests.
The rooms and building interior were clean and well maintained. The buffet style breakfast was good at 18.5 euros. The downsides in the room were no flat surface with a chair to use for reading or laptop use, no kettle or cups to use for coffee or tea, to put toiletries there was a 3 centimeter strip around the bathroom sink just wide enough for a razor, not even Kleenex tissues. Of course no fridge. Stepping outside you land in one of the worst drug use areas in Germany. People actively using at all times of the day and filthy streets. I checked what time their bar opened as going out after dark seemed unsafe. I was told “we have a bar but no bartenders “
I really like the free breakfast in the hotel, it was so good. The hotel’s location is convenient to train station, and many trams.
Close to the Railway station
Nice small hotel room. Not much space for suitcase. Quiet and in a quiet part near train station. Little vagrants in the area since it's close to the red light district.
This hotel is a PERFECT location to stay at if you are arriving by train - it is less than a five minute walk from the main station. I arrived just after noon, and the VERY pleasant receptionist was able to let me book in early. The rooms are nice and clean, as is the bathroom. Breakfast was also great - cereal, cold meats and cheeses, cooked selection and a range of both hot and cold drinks. If/when I visit Frankfurt again, The niu Charly will be high on my booking priorities. 👍😁👍
Very comfy room
Very clean and comfy. Recommend!
The best choice near the station.
Amazing... Clean, beautiful and confortable.
Great Hotel Dodgy Area
Really nice hotel. Staff were helpful and friendly. Room was really nice, bed comfy and excellent shower! As others have mentioned the area around HBF is quite dodgy with a lot of homeless, drug users and dealers. No one bothered me personally and I think they'd leave 99% of people alone but visually I can see why someone would feel intimidated.
Lovely hotel modern and comfortable. The rooms are nice and spacious. Location of the hotel is excellent and the breakfast on the 7th floor was good with a nice view.
surrounding area is bad
Great overall
Was perfect. The only thing is they gave me one pillow and a small blanket for a queen bed.
The property itself was great, however the surrounding area had a number of homeless people and people who appeared to have mental health issues that made the area feel somewhat unsafe.
Perfect thanks
Good location and friendly staff.
Nice and close to train station
Great choice for our needs. This is very close to the train station. While we paid for parking, we likely would have been able to just park on the street, however, I felt safer having the car in a gated area. If you choose to use the paid parking, make sure you get the instructions from front desk! It took us 10 min to find out how to open the gate from the inside. The room itself was nice, but I would have preferred a little more shelf space in the bathroom, as well as more towel drying racks.
Bad neighborhood, decent/cheap/clean hotel near the station
I feel bad having to give the overall experience as 1 star as the property itself is very nice, clean and staff were very pleasant however, the area has easily got to be the most shocking environment I have ever visited. Red light district of Frankfurt, full of prostitutes, drug dealers and drug addicts casually injecting on the street the minute you walk out the door as well as casual pickpockets and shoplifting drug addicts attempting to offer stolen goods to casual pedestrians. Didn’t feel safe outside for 1 second. German authorities should be ashamed of themselves allowing the area to decline the way it has. Area is beyond unsafe especially on a Saturday night, regrettably as nice as the hotel itself was, I have to advise against visiting this area of Frankfurt, shocking showpiece for German tourism.
A lot of drug related activity around the hotel. By the third night the police raided the alley which made things slightly better. Hotel was amazing just a bad area.
Newly refurbished, with a really good design for functional good looking rooms, that doesn't try to appear more premium by filing the room with useless junk. Very clean set up but nice touches like the textured wall paper. The doors don't slam and the sound insulation internally is good. Externally the area borders the bahnhofsviertel which fundamentally is full of junkies and stinks of piss,( if your in a room facing this side you will get more external noise). As a result the walk to the hotel is a bit rougher than you would expect for a location a 500m from a financial centre. However if you are going to go to any of the main tourist attractions in Frankfurt you are going to skirt the area at some point, so i'm not going to dock a star.
. Great place to stay with great service
The room was good, the prices were good and affordable, the breakfast was delicious, the staff were friendly and helpful, the location was in the middle of everything, the only one thing that was poor that the hotel has no control over is the street conditions and people who walk the streets. Overall this was a good experience.
The hotel is clean and rooms are well equipped and tidy for the price. Beware of walking outside the property. Lots of drunks, drugs ‚ prostitution & the like. Easy to manage but would be difficult for a single female.
Very small rooms. No complimentary water, no tea/coffee
Pretty nice hotel, very nice staff but very sketchy area
.
I was not prepared for all the creepos, drug-outs and plain old sketchy people around the outside and neighboring streets surrounding the hotel. The hotel itself was perfectly fine though.
I have stayed 5 nights within the Niu charly Frankfurt, the hotel is quite good for the amount we booked it for , the room is a bit small for two person but it was not bad , the breakfast was good, the only issue is that the area surrounding was full of homeless drug addicts etc
Great facilities and amenities. The only issues were my TV didn't operate all the time and the beds were basically two single beds put together which wasn't great sleep on and I booked for a queen sized bed. Overall it was okay.
Friendly, helpful staff. Good size rooms, nice and clean. Great location close to the main station and in the centre.
The hotel is very clean and the staff great. The breakfast was also very good. The rooms had a nice design. My room did not have good AC and that made it hotter than I like. The problem was not the hotel, but the area. It is literally next to the Red Light district. There are lots of prostitutes and drug dealers that will harass you. The area is not very safe either. There is no good way to get to the hotel and avoid the gangsters, prostitutes, and drug dealers.
The block the hotel was on had great art murals on the exterior of the surrounding buildings. The breakfast buffet was one of the most excellent I've had in terms of the variety of healthy and tasty options. The room was clean and comfortable. Be careful to not miss the street if you walk from the train station (like I did). The start of the street is through an opening in a building complex (walkable in this direction but not drivable in this direction.
Excellent stay and convenient, very near to Central Station, breakfast was very good
Getting to the hotel is VERY unsafe, and incredibly uncomfortable. Having travelled frequently, we have never experienced anything like the 5 minute journey from the station to the hotel, which whilst I know is not in the control of the hotel, is something I think people should be aware of. The hotel itself, not a welcome reception, staff unfriendly and seem generally put out by having to deal with anyone. Room was ok, clean and tidy. Absolutely not sound proof, could hear EVERYTHING from neighbouring rooms. Room next to us played music all night and you could sing along from our room it was so clear. The rooftop bar was a selling point for us staying here… which when we went to visit, closed. Asked at reception who didn’t seem to care at all and just stated ‘yeah it’s not open because we don’t have staff’. So that meant no food or drinks for our stay because we weren’t going to venture out past nightfall into the neighbourhood. The room guest info has info about the convenient food and drinks and even offers free drinks vouchers for not having your room serviced during your stay.. completely pointless as NOTHING is available. By the time we visited this hotel we had been travelling for over a week and staying in various hotels, this was our final night before our journey home and was the low point of our trip. Would not stay again nor recommend.
The hotel is located in a quiet street close to the main station and also to a tram station which made it really convenient for transportation. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable and had all main amenities. I enjoyed my stay there.
Had to cancelled my trip because of my grandma had an emergency (personal health) and I reached out to an agency to let the hotel staff knows, and they couldn’t even do anything about it, not even a half refund back or any type of refund. I just hope at least they understand it. But no sympathy from them at all!
nice.
Good
Reception excellent, hotel clean, basic, 5 minutes to train station. Very dangerous walking to and from train station. Rough area of town.
An amazing place with great location.
Great Boutique hotel!
A great little boutique hotel, very helpful staff, great breakfast set up. Only downfall I would say is the neighbourhood.
Lovely hotel just 20 minutes walk to the old town and most sightseeing. Staff are very helpful & plenty of restaurants nearby. I just didn’t like the area around the hotel at night because of drug addicted people.
good to stay there
good location, the hotel is nice, modern , clean. Close to central station and red light district. The room was nice, clean. The bed is comfortable.
Friendly staff, clean room and central location. Short distance from Messe Frankfurt. Walking distance from Frankfurt main railway station and many restaurants. .
Neighborhood has really gone downhill
Everything is quite decent. I think the area is just how Frankfurt is and this property can't do anything about it. The shower seemed to have a unstable pressure problem, such that without enough cold water running (a warm shower does not provide enough usage), the water pump would work intermittently, causing the shower to have drastic temp change.
The people at this hotel are great. Very welcoming, friendly. The room was great as well, good bed, amenities were fine. It is good value as far as this is concerned. The area around the hotel is not good. A lot of street drug consumption happening. Nothing the hotel can do about that.
Holiday Inn - the niu, Charly Frankfurt City by IHG | Hotel in Frankfurt | Travala.com
Close to station. Nice hotel. Clean. Perfect bed. Sometimes a lot of junks in the streets near the station. But that's a problem of the town Frankfurt and not related to the hotel. Breakfast good.
