I would recommend this establishment
Excellent
Really nice room and although it was near a main road the noise was minimal. Very clean pleasant room.
Close to pubs around the hotel and other shopping all within walking distance. The room where quiet and well appointed. Plenty of parking and the laundry came in handy too.
I booked late. I checked in late. I was a horrible guest. They were incredibly accommodating, understanding and great to deal with. The room was brilliant. Couldn’t ask for more
We loved the two big beds and the room felt very spacious.
Awesome place. Love the vibe, Rooms were great. Only feedback - Please get a pool operational for kids.
Comfortable bed and spacious room
Very noisy
Clean and modern
It was quiet, sparkling clean, so modern and the car park was handy at the door step. We would recommend you to install an EV charger other than Tesla as many travelers will benefit from it .
Easy, comfortable stay.
This property was well located for our purposes. It was clean…a little dated but definitely a place I would stay again.
Will stay again
An easy and friendly check-in room was very clean and tidy Bed comfortable with nice sheets and pillows It was missing a hairdryer and an iron but when I mentioned this they were onto it. Water pressure was reasonable. Parking was easy.
.
Rooms were of reasonable size. Dinning optios and menu very good
Very comfortable
Lovely staff. Spacious room . Very comfortable
Very clean and friendly staff. Definitely recommend.
Large room. Super clean. Easy to find.
position
Beds need to be upgraded
I have stayed here many times. It’s good for the price however some of the beds I’ve slept in are most uncomfortable. They need replacing.
Last Minute Overnight Stay
In what was a late decision, I booked to stay at The Commodore to participate in a community event in Mount Gambier. Even though the booking was late, the hotel accommodated a later checkout which meant that I had time to relax and shower after my event, which was welcoming. The hotel prefer to store card number on file to cover incidentals, but (like many other hotels) accept a bond as an alternative if you are not comfortable with that. You will need to checkout in person and wait until the room is quickly inspected if you choose to use the bond. The room itself is quite spacious and comfortable. While no views except for the courtyard, the room has everything you need with reasonable parking in the courtyard. It has foxtel on the TV, with the option of a cooked breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. Location is ideal for a walk into the town centre, being 5 minutes to all of the cafes and restaurants.
Comfortable bed, great shower
Have used it before, convenient to everything.
Grand Room, Non Smoking (Grand 2 Bedroom Suite)
I booked a room with 2 toilets, but the sink in one of the toilets was stuck and drained very slowly. When I showered, water leaked from the shower glass door, so the toilet outside was very wet. There are two small shampoos for 5 people, not enough if you have long hair.
Fine
great place to stay and very friendly service
Comfortable and convenient. Not too loud even next to the road. The deluxe spa room was very spacious and the breakfast bar in the restaurant was delicious. Great stay!
.
Close to shopping. Nice room service meal
Clean and tidy
A clean motel , the room was spacious. The beds very comfortable The road noise was a bit annoying.
The place was clean, spacious and modern. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the motel itself was in excellent condition comfortable and clean
Disappointed with restaurant meal, though the room was spacious and clean.
Check in poor Arrived early around 10.30 asked if our room could have prioritise cleaning as weather was cold and wet Came back at 12.30 still not ready got a call at 1.15 to say we could get it Had a meal at the motel restaurant but was unable to charge it to the room as reception had not checked us in Got a call at 9.15 asking when are we likely to arrive !, G GArdens full of weeds especially at back of units
Didn’t like the trucks on the main hway. Slowing down at the roundabout outside our bedroom window
Thank you to the accomodating, warm and gracious staff at The Commodore. Thoughtfully designed, beautiful, sunny, clean rooms. Lovely manicured gardens Travelled on my own with a small child, and I always feel safe staying here. A pleasure to stay here, would recommend. Thank you
It was easy to find and had everything we needed as tired travellers
Had a great stay. Staff were great. Location was close to the places I wanted to visit
Old and tired
Friendly great service that made our holiday nice
Great staff
Top class
We booked the spa suite but it had jets missing the covers revealing sharp bits to stab your back plus the spa didnt turn on. We only booked there for a spa room and had we known they couldn't deliver on this we never would have booked there. The bathroom window was stuck open and had the most horrific and unsafe level of black mould. There is no chance this was overlooked by cleaners or guests as the window being stuck open draws your attention there. Due to the window not closing we had the split system running during the night only to awake sick with heavy chests. Upon exploration i found more black mould under the system which as a result blew mould spores over us for the night. I am a cancer patient and i now can't work for the week due to the implications the mouldspores have had on my health. We had a sticky substance on the wall and ants from one end of the room to the other and someone else's hair both on the bed head and in the spa. The next morning i spoke to the front desk and requested a full refund for the first night and a reduced rate on the second night as they could not move us into another spa room. We were moved into one of their renovated room which had a single bath instead of a double spa and no kitchenette facilities like we specifically booked, it also had mould in the bathroom at a lower level. We received a refund for the first night and no discount on the second. The staff and the bacon are the only redeeming qualities of this unsafe property.
Lovely room with a comfortable bed. The only snag was that there was no hairdryer
Excellent service, from reception wright through to bar staff and waiting. Meals were amazing and the room wonderful with all you need. Thanks guys see you next time. Linda and Arthur.
The rooms are clean, spacious and well appointed. The price was great and staff friendly.
Nice clean room. Thank you.
Having a lovely drink by the fire then moving into the restaurant where the food was excellent along with the very friendly staff.
Nice place to stay..
It was perfect for what i needed.
Neat modern room
Room was perfect we were Round back 26 and was quiet. We didn’t have anything from mini bar as at previous hotel in Adelaide this was free. It is quite expensive and there was only 1 of everything f and there were two of us. Not a moan but bathroom was cold with no heating
My only issue was that the walls are a bit thin and one can hear the toilet being used
Comfiest bed ever !!
Friendly staff. Nice room with very comfy bed. The restaurant was nice and food well prepared but needs meals a little bit more fancy for the price.
Great Value
We really liked the position of motel, very easy to access other parts of town without being right in town. Although we didn't dine in restaurant it looked very nice. Excellent room setvice meal.
Good location. Although close to main road and subject to some road traffic noise.
Very spacious and nice room! So much bigger and nicer than the pictures. Loved that it had 2 bathrooms... the only downside was the bathroom doors and bedroom divider were glass and on the bathrooms the doors didn't latch or lock. Which could make it a little awkward if you are sharing with friends instead of family.
The rooms were comfortable, spacious, clean and well equipped. We ordered room service and the food was delicious. We will use the Commodore when we need accommodation in Mount Gambier.
Clean room's friendly staff restaurant meal was very good and when we did report an issue with the shower it was repaired that day. Would book again if past through Mt Gambier in the future.
The room was great and the staff were wonderful. The only issue we had was the gap around the door let a lot of the cold inside the room.
Staff at reception were excellent Room was very tired with a lot of road noise
Stayed for 3 nights and not the best place we have stayed. The bathroom had mould, and we had to request a new kettle as the one in our room had white gunk all in it. The walls are so paper thin that you can hear the people next door talking and them using the kettle ect at 5:30am. We had a room at the front and the traffic was rather loud. Positives were the staff we nice and the location is good. The electic car charger is a bonus too.
Nice spacious room, very private and quiet. Close to main street
Nice and clean. Rooms were large and comfortable. Ample parking with good service. Provided late check in and the staff were helpful and respectful
Good value for money
We had 2 rooms and while both presented nicely on arrival we noted it was a bit run down. For example a few tears in the curtains and 1 shower head sprayed water all over the roof no matter what we did. The bathroom gave more space to the sink & benchtop rather than room in the shower which was pokey. Staff interactions were great though
Great size room for family. Room is a bit old style but clean. We are at the inner part of the building, it is very quiet and didn't hear noice from the road. Only thing I didn't expect is there were no milk for tea or coffee in the fridge. I think maybe the cleaning staff just forget.
Nice stay
Traveling
Amazingly quiet room, decor wonderful, roomy too.
This property is a small, quiet establishment with helpful, friendly staff. The room was spacious with a nice dining table and chairs and picture windows. The bathroom was not large but quite adequate. With a restaurant on site, it was very convenient.
Located at a busy intersection with heavy traffic passing. Noisy if window is not closed. (Unfortunately we were unaware that the housekeeping staff had left our window open the second night and we had a bad night sleep due to noise!) Good restaurant on site.
Car parking and outside area not the best for a top motel. Reception Entrance a bit tricky.
Hard to review this property as there’s nothing really wrong with it but also nothing that stands out. It’s a bit noisy as you’re on a busy roundabout but it’s comfy and spacious. Property could probably do with being renovated but there’s nothing actually wrong with it. That being said we looked at other properties in the area and this is probably one of the better ones
Conveniently located hotel with excellent friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were slightly dated but spotless and included a mini-kitchen and microwave. Convenient parking. Would stay again.
Good room ,nice decor. Comfortable beds and best idea in the bathroom - a face washer to remove makeup.
Plenty of parking, convenient location, center for everythning.
The property is dated and the rooms are small. But it is clean, staff are friendly and it’s priced accordingly
Great location close to everything. Restaurant food was delicious especially breakfast lots of options.
Great to stay at, top dining with lovely outlook.
Would not recommend hotel - room a good size but bathroom very small with no surface space to put things on. Motel is right on roundabout and is tired and dated. Dehumidifying crystals in bedroom windows and black behind sink in bathroom. Lounge bar and restaurant looked ok but we did not eat or drink there.
Great service and clean
This was one of the worst places we ever stayed in. 5 Fairlie is a run down old house with paint peeling off the walls, a 1950s bathroom with an original green pedestal sink with separate hot and cold taps, and the original green bath tub, and a continously running shower head. The bedrooms had no wardrobes. There was no coffee machine with pods (they just had instant coffee sachets). The toilet was located at the back of the house and there was no sink to wash your hands. To wash your hands you had to walk through the whole house to the 1950s bathroom. The washing machine was provided but no washing power, rendering the washing machine useless. The red couch you see in the photos has not been wiped since these photos were taken probably 20 years ago. It is filthy. At $340 per night, Commodore should be ashamed of themselves to offer such poor quality accommodation. I asked them for photos of the bedrooms and the bathroom, as there were none online and was told that they are online (which obviously they are not, as if they would have photos of the real conditon of this house, no one would ever book it. The only positives were the lovely receptionist, who provided outstanding customer service, the comfotable beds and the well vacuumed floors. I would not recommend this accommodation to anyone, unless you are getting it for an absolutely ridiculously cheap price, as it is worse than a backpackers.
Very clean and comfortable.
I can't fault anything. Staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was exceptionally clean. Breakfast in the dining room was nice. Definitely recommend.
We booked the 3BR house. It's comfortable. The receptionist was lovely. However, we booked for 3 nights but Mt Gambier could be explored in 1 day.
Can't fault this hotel.
Can't fault this hotel. Very comfortable bed, huge bathroom, free parking, great restaurant. Not sure if we will be visiting Mount Gambier again, but would happily stay here again if we did.
A Treat
A lovely afternoon and night stop over at this hotel was well worth it . The restaurant was also great. We had a gorgeous room with space and spa.
Great property We were a little late checking out and the cleaner came twice and busted in on my husband in shower and then we were called by reception surely they can give a little concession for slightly later check out it was finally only at 10.45 that we left
Welcoming polite staff, the room itself exceeded expectation. Well maintained, carefully considered spaces, with the client at the forefront of design. Thank you to the staff for maintaining a high standard. Stayed here alone and I felt safe. Thank you
The room was very well appointed and loved the fact the bathroom light and fan was a sensored system, as you approached the door the light and fan came on. Great for the visits in the dark, instead of having to fumble for switches.
The property is right next to a main road, it’s quite noisy at night. Got waken up a few times by the cars from the road and the people talking next door. There is no power point near the dinning table, you can only either boil the water inside the cabinet or in the toilet. Definitely not going to stay again.
We stayed only one night. The receptionist was efficient and welcoming. Car parking ok. The room and bathroom were clean and well appointed and with quality furniture and fittings. The restaurant/bar looked nice (we didn't have dinner there). We did opt for the inclusive breakfast (extra $10/person) in the restaurant. The staff in the restaurant were charming. We were encouraged to upgrade our breakfast options but we stuck with the inclusive - a good decision because the breakfasts were most generous in size. We would recommend this motel.
.
nice location
It's nice location to go Blue lake. and breakfast was good. But the shower room was too small for us.
Rooms were lovely. Front office exceptional. Would definitely recommend.
The customer service is always nice and a room service meal was yummy and not over priced
Good Motel in excellent location for access to town centre.
Advertised having an indoor pool. However, pool was closed since COVID. Very disappointing.
Great room, very clean, comfortable, modern, great bathroom amenities. Great location. Can't fault.

Room clean and tidy. Shower sprayed out the door when turned on with no drain to clear water outside shower. Shower size small for size of bathroom. Could clearly hear neighbours conversation on either side.
