We had a wonderful time staying at Tandjung Sari. We stayed two nights in a cozy village bungalow. It was very clean and spacious. The outside shower was a nice touch to our stay. It was refreshing to shower outside after being in the blazing sun. While we were in the room, a member of the cleaning staff came and cleaned our room. We watched the whole process and she was very polite and cleaned every single corner of the room. All staff were very friendly and professional. They loved to come talk to you. We enjoyed our conversations. We booked our afternoon tea service and chose Indonesian style. We only ate at their restaurant and their food was amazing. I especially loved the Tandjung Sari style rice porridge. It was the best! We cherished the magical moment of sharing a candlelit dinner on the stunning white sandy beach, with the stars shining brightly above us. Everything tasted fresh and organic. When we come back to Sanur, we will definitely choose to stay at Tandjung Sari again.

The best in Sanur

We feel privileged to have stayed at this superb hotel and have already booked to return next year. As others have said, the history and heritage attached to this boutique property is amazing, the location is unbeatable, and the staff are fantastic. Without doubt the best in Sanur!

We truly enjoyed our stay here! Beyond our expectation. We felt like we had the real Balinese experience and warm hospitality that comes with it. The property was beautiful, well maintained and very charming. The breakfast and the rest of restaurant menu was excellent. A perfect setting! Everything has a personal touch and felt like you are staying at a friend’s home. Would highly recommend.

Such a great stay

This hotel was so lovely, what made it was the staff, honestly couldn’t do enough for you. The room itself was lovely, I had a garden bungalow. Food was outstanding and very reasonably priced. I would recommend anyone to stay here you won’t be disappointed

Utterly divine place! Sheer perfection in an old fashioned Bali style that is incredible

This truely is a hidden gem. An old traditional hotel which has a tranquil calm setting with wonderful staff. They were demolitioning some old villas near reception but there really was little disruption and it is limited to daytime only. We found the food at their restaurant delicious - do make sure you book for dinner and request a table on the beach. Would definitely recommend!!

Beautiful and traditional Balinese decors with private unit for each guest. Excellent food and dining at hotel's restaurant. Easy and beachfront walk to Icon mall. Staff members are all especially friendly and helpful. My wife and I will definitely come back and stay here again when we visit Bali.

Perfect In Every Way

I stayed over a week at Tandjung Sari, the hotel is beautiful, the rooms perfectly appointed, the staff warm, welcoming and responsive to every need. Tandjung Sari provides a small taste of old Bali with beautifully maintained, peaceful grounds and all modern comforts, plus a beautiful seaside location. Meals were beautifully prepared and offered a range of choices, both Indonesian and western. It is a special place. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip. Highly recommend.

Our first stay at Tandjung Sari and the resort lived up to everything we were told about the place. So pleased we stayed here.

We arrived early after a brutal night flight. Our room was not ready but staff made us very welcome, sent us off to breakfast and the beach and sent for us when the stunningly beautiful room was ready. This is old school Bali beautiful. The grounds are stunning. Everything seems considered and yet relaxed. We only had one night on this stay but we promptly booked two more nights for our next pass through Sanur. We're already looking forward to it.

Tandjung Sari is by far the most beautiful hotel I have ever visited. The staff are gracious and kind and the magic of Bali is embodied in this artful and tranquil setting. I can’t wait to feel the magic again ❤️❤️

This family owned resort is a piece of olde world Balinese paradise. Friendly staff and luxurious villa's nestled in lush Balinese gardens. Idyllic!

This is a nice old place, one of the very first boutique hotels in Bali. But fair warning; they are renovating one of the larger villas and the construction noise is ongoing from 9-5 Monday through Saturday. On account of this, we left earlier than expected. But if you're looking for a nice small place in Sanur and you don't get about noise, this is probably a good choice. Also, they support the local dancers, and have performances on Saturday night which are very worthwhile if you care at all about Balinese culture. Finally, note they are building a huge mall in this area, Icons, which is weird as this has traditionally been a low key area. So traffic is bound to get even worse in the future, which is the long term trend in Bali. I know as I"ve been coming since 1988

Very attentive and friendly staff.

good waterfront location

Tandjung Sari is a gem. A period piece from the sixties maintained to perfection. I expected a young vibrant Sean Connery to join me at the bar and have one shaken. I prefer stirred. The staff is as efficient and nice as they are impeccably dressed. The food is delicious and dinner on the beach can’t be matched for a romantic occasion or just plain dinner. These folks do it very right.

Our stay this past week

We have stayed here several times. The staff here are amazing! The beach and atmosphere is very low key and relaxing. The food is excellent along with the bar drinks. The rooms are fantastic. I love the private outside shower. If you stay here you will never consider staying anywhere else in Sanur Beach!

A beautiful tranquil Bali oasis. Not as huge as other beach front properties which is what gives it it’s charm and uniqueness. It has a quality feel to it and a old fashioned Balinese graciousness. I especially loved all the small touches you discover as the days melt by. Personally, I loved the use of the gorgeous Jenggala ceramics in the rooms and restaurants. The staff are always smiling, exceptionally polite and you can tell they love working for the Tandjung. My only small complaint was the comfort of the bed. It was very firm. I asked about it when checked out and was told you can request a plush bed topper if you want softer. Problem solved.

Oh such a wonderful relaxing place. Amazing staff that take care of your every need. The decor is wonderful and you definitely know you are in Bali. We plan on returning next year.

Excellent stay right along the Oceanside boardwalk. Only recommendation is reference the beds, pillows and bed linen. They are very hard and the sleep was not ideal. The pillows are also hard and too high to allow for a good sleep. The bed linen has way too much starch and could use a better quality that is softer. Otherwise a great stay.

Without Doubt the best hotel in Sanur

In my opinion the best traditional old style Bali hotel in the Sanur region. Our third stay. Exudes elegance and refinement. An absolute beautiful facility right on the best stretch of Sanur beach. Not mentioning the stunning restaurant. Of course the management could not do this on their own, the staff make the village. From the gardeners, house staff, reception & of course the exceptional bar & restaurant hosts, they genuinely make you feel at home whilst they glide into spoiling you to death. They create a perfect heaven

The true spirit of Bali is alive and well at the Tanjung Sari. It’s the most beautiful property and the owners, management, and staff will treat you like Family.

The grounds of the hotel are beautiful, like you're visiting a museum or temple. I only had 2 full days here but wished it could have been more. The rooms are awesome and far better than the pictures portray. My only complaints are the service at the restaurant (you have to track down staff to take your order or bring you the bill) and that the pool is on the smallish side.

There isn’t the space to compliment the attributes of the staff, the accommodation, the dining, the gardens, beach, cultural events,, … my only complaint is that the pillows are too big, but that really didn’t matter too much. I didn’t use them much.

This is such a beautiful property. We had a beachfront villa. The staff are so helpful and friendly. The villa is well equipped and the bed and pillows excellent. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor shower and garden. The restaurant food is also outstanding. The manager of this property is committed to preserving the Bali culture providing its facilities to teach local village children historical dance every Sunday. The children are also fed. A really wonderful stay. We will be back.

Gorgeous property! Room was stunning! We had a 2 story bungalow and the extra space was such a luxury. Loved the outdoor tub and the unique touches such as sarong and night shirt. Just don’t wear the sarong if you go for a walk as all the vendors will know where you are staying. The toilet in the room was the only disappointing space, it looked like the original. Am amazing hotel, would stay again and again.

This was our 3rd time in Bali over the MH last 10 years and our 2nd visit to this hotel, we always use a beach bungalow, they are beautiful little villas with a private garden, next to the beach. It’s worth checking out the history of this lovely little place, it prides itself as being a home away from home and succeeds every time. Nothing is too much trouble, the restaurant is amazing, chill out at the bar and watch the sun go down over Sanur bay. The staff remember your name, their beach is really nice and the while design concept is just wonderful. It’s not cheap but if you want cheap, use the Hyatt. Sanur is not Kota or Ubud, as it’s very quiet and there’s an absence of noisy hippies, but for real life Bali by the sea, this is the place!

The staff made the stay here an “experience”. The rooms are cute with outdoor showers. The grounds are beautiful and the restaurant on the beach was amazing!

Location is the best on the beach. Everyone was stopping to take pictures of the beach setup, it is that nice.

Love Tandjung Sari-our 4th stay in a month.

The Tandjung Sari is spectacular! The only complaint I have is the constant noise and danger of jet skiis in the swimming area.

This was a fantastic oasis in the middle of the city. Clean, quiet and with a beautiful beach.

Our sensational sixth stay

A wonderful stay. Tandjung Sari accommodation has the sense of space of a private villa with all the benefits of the hotel amenities. Beautiful bungalows, amazing food, warm & friendly service and a location which is both soothing and relaxing compared to other parts of Bali. This was our sixth stay and we can’t wait to return.

My partner and I carefully planned our perfect holiday in Indonesia and decided to finish the trip in Sanur, Bali. We did our research and after reading about the hotel's history and watching the excellent short-film about it on YouTube, we chose Tandjung Sari. We stayed at the hotel from 19 May to 22 May 2019. As soon as we arrived at the property I knew we had made the right choice. We were welcomed and greeted like old friends and escorted through the beautiful, lush grounds to our Beachfront Bungalow (29). There was a sense of peace pervading everything. The bungalow was beautiful with many lovely little thoughtful touches. There is so much care and attention to detail. It was cool, spacious and restful. There was a quiet, relaxing area tucked up the spiral staircase. A place to rest and read while enjoying views of the pretty beach and gardens. The bungalow even has its own private garden. Breakfast was included and was wonderful! We ate dinner at the restaurant every night and the food was always superb and the staff so lovely. The hotel facilities are perfect. We loved swimming in the cool, deep pool. It is shaded and peaceful. However, what makes Tandjung Sari even more special is the people. Every single person was so warm, welcoming, attentive and kind. I've been lucky to stay at many places but I can say with certainty that none have been quite as special as Tandjung Sari. We were very sad to leave. We can't wait to return to Tandjung Sari.

Love the ambience of this property and the friendly personal staff. This is our fourth stay and still love it as much as always. Tandjung is one of the few traditional smallish resorts around and its position on the beach is unbeatable. Fabulous gardens, lovely pool area and restaurant. If you want all the high tech bells and whistles this is not the place for you. There are no tv’s in the bungalows but that’s not a bad thing !

An Oasis of calm in the middle of bustling Sanur. Best holiday we have had for years. Staff brilliant and the food first class. Couldnt rate it hiogh enough.

Quiet, cozy, wonderful food, attentive and cheerful staff, and clean beachfront!

The property was beautiful, the real old Bali. Room was awesome, only don’t waste money on beach front as you can’t see the water because of the vegetation. Also arrange you own cab but ask the price first. Breakfast was very delicious and served right to your table.

We stayed at the Tandjung Sari for five nights. All the staff were friendly, caring and helpful at all times. The hotel buildings and grounds are beautiful, relaxing and very well maintained, with original Balinese artifacts, planters, niches with statuary throughout. The atmosphere was restful, beauty all around - lush well kept vegetation, loved the (elusive, up in the trees) resident squirrels, and the peaceful doves . The food and beverages were always excellent - great coffee, amazing breakfasts with freshly made fruit juice, colourful and tasty fruit platters, freshly baked croissants, delicious bread, and many choices of savoury dishes. Our evening meal was top cuisine.This was our second stay at the Tandjung Sari, and we are coming back!

Amazing staff! The bar and restaurant was excellent in quality and service. We stayed in the beach front villa. Very private with outside shower. The property was always perfect with landscapers taking care of the grounds. Without a doubt we found a place that we will stay in future visits. Very low key, relaxing area!

Beautiful gardens, last of the old style traditional hotels in Sanur, great food, lovely beach, staff are all really delightful. I think I made my point!

Property is beautiful, and has one of the nicest bar/beach areas on the shoreline. We stayed in one of the beachfront bungalows. The beachfront bungalows have an inside tub and shower, and an outside shower - which got plenty of use, loved it. Although you are on the beachfront, you can't see the water because of a wall of greenery separating the rooms from the boardwalk... so choose the room you like and don't worry about whether it has a garden view or not - makes very little difference.

A great hotel for experiencing Bali on the beach

The hospitality and level of service, the decor and room design were all that you would expect from a top level hotel. I had heard that the food was particularly good, and it is true.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel is beautiful and great location. Only issue was a/c went out but it was fixed the next day.

For the sweetest Balinese hospitality, stay here

It was our fifth stay at Tandjung Sari and it wont be our last. The service is attentive and warm. The rooms delightfully "old" Bali, which we love given there is so much being built on the Island that is geared toward comfort but with no substance. The rooms feature an outdoor shower, mosquito nets and lovely traditional architecture. The gardens are beautiful, providing a peaceful oasis away fro the street. The inclusive breakfast is superb. We always look forward to Sunday's when the young village children are taught traditional dancing pool side among the garden, delighted by the on-looking audience. Tandjung Sari is Balinese hospitality at its' finest without the fuss that goes on in Seminyak & etc.

This is a unique hotel. We have visited it on various occasions since 1979. A delightful experience thanks to the quality of the property, the staff and its history.

Superb hotel in a lovely area

Tandjung Sari has been around for decades, but the hotel is wonderfully kept and updated. We stayed in one of the newly renovated bungalows and couldn't be happier. The facilities are great, food delicious and staff wonderful! We would not hesitate to stay here again!

Wedding Anniversary Week :o)

This is the most beautiful Resort we've ever stayed in! Lush vegetation everywhere, cozy Bale (Indonesian Gazebo) dotted all over - including our own private one in the garden of our amazing, spacious Bungalow. We were celebrating our Anniversary and were spoilt with flowers and a cake!

We spent a wonderful 4 nights here in April 2018, we were travelling as a family with a small child and had booked a beachfront bungalow. We were very happy with the lovely accommodation which was spacious, nicely arranged, and very private with it's own garden and covered terrace. The hotel has its own beach, separated from the restaurant and pool only by a footpath. The atmosphere in the hotel is great, we found it very relaxing and spent a lot of time at the pool and beach during our stay. The restaurant is very good and seems popular compared with others nearby, we had to book a table to ensure we could eat there, although there are plenty of others within easy walking distance along the beachfront. The service was very good in general and all the staff we dealt with went out of their way to make our stay as nice a possible. Our son is only 2 and staff arranged for an extra bed downstairs quickly on arrival as the bed upstairs wouldn't have been safe for him. We would definitely consider staying here again in the future, we were very pleased with our choice.

A paradise hide-out

Tandjung Sari is by far the best place to stay in Sanur if you are looking for beauty, relaxation and authenticity. Everything about the place is done to give you a true experience of Balinese culture, from the decor, the kindness of the staff, the large rooms, outdoor shower, and beautifully manicured tropical garden with an outside bungalow where you can read, rest, or simply be. I loved everything about this place. Food and drinks are also very good, as is the yoga class offered by the hotel a few days a week (unlike other typical hotel yoga classes, this one is taught by experienced teachers). The hotel also hosts a kids dance school, and the performances are beautiful to watch. I'd definitely stay here again and hope to come back!

Very comfortable accommodations and dining

3rd stay over the years, and it's just a nice place, with friendly and capable staff, and comfortable villas. This year we had a garden villa on the south...near the restaurant. We loved it.

As expected, so accommodating, first class service

This is our second time returning to Tandjung Sari. Staff are accommodating, attentive without being intrusive. Limited number of cottages makes the hotel private, each unit has its own yard, enclosed with shrubberies. It is paradise. If there is a thing this facility can add - a spa...

Great location, beautiful gardens, peaceful

This was my second visit. I love the spaciousness of the rooms and the private settings. The closeness of the location to so many things in Sanur. The variety of places to sit and read, watch the beach and the people.

Bali Palace

Bicycles, no problems Taxi. No problems Boat trip to The Gili islands, no problems. The staff made our short trip so memorable.

Nice, but not for adults

This is a nice hotel with nice grounds, but with some caveats. First of all, the dining area and the best villas are right next to the pool, and the kids in the pool during our visit were screaming, so it was not peaceful. And the jetskis that run in front of the hotel don't help. This was one of the first hotels in Sanur, and the buildings are 40-50 years old. But they do have charm and authenticity. I was also scalded by very, very hot water from the taps. The beach is very nice, but at low tide the water is too shallow to swim. Swimming is okay in the afternoon.

Traditional style , classy Balinese villa

My wife and I were looking for some relief from the Sydney winter and to escape the life rush and lazzz around for a week . The Tandjung Sari in July was an excellent choice for our needs . The staff are efficient and friendly, the restaurant and bar are of a quality standard . Geographically the beach position of TS is the jewel in the crown, with beautiful white sand , clean lagoon water and many beautiful old trees which set a a tranquil ambience. The only criticism is the pool could do with heating as the trees shadow it ,and the village bungalow external shower could benefit from timber slats in the shower recess , the natural stone was a bit mossy .

Tropical sophistication and style

Tandjung Sari is the ultimate boutique hotel; beautiful architecture and gardens, devine Indo cuisine, and a relaxing beach-side location. I loved it so much I'm already planning on going back at some point. One thing was that Bungalow 20 had a rising damp issue, and we had to change rooms (which they were able to accomodate), but I personally think they can't be letting Bungalow 20 until they have sorted out the damp/ mildew issue.

a real treasure!

The service at this small hotel is sincere and incredibly thoughtful. Accommodation is very, very comfortable. Gym has great treadmills. Swimming pool is kept spotless clean. All the staff are tirelessly welcoming. The whole place is a real treasure!

Ambience -- 10/10.

2nd stay only as we sleep around trying to test all the good places -- but now will likely be a regular for us. Location is in fairly quiet Sanur, where the beach is terrific. For us, it just doesn't get better than the old-style comfort of Tandjung Sari. Arrived very late but staff was ready for us. Always plenty of smiles, breakfast, noon or night. All the staff is well trained, from the restaurant to the service staff in the office or servicing of rooms and grounds. If you haven't tried this hotel, do yourself a favor, you won't be sorry.

An absolute gem

Great staff, great facilities and a great restaurant in an amazing small boutique hotel on the beach. We will definitely be back next year.

I didn't want to leave

Amazing hotel, incredible staff that treat you like royalty - the hotel had everything we wanted and then some. Wonderful place and staff.

Quiet, beautiful hotel, next to beach.

This beautiful hotel was a quiet respite from the business of Sanur. The lush gardens and unitque bungalows made our stay most delightful. The staff and service were top notch. The view and access to the beach was incredible.

lovely boutique hotel in bali style,

lovely little hotel, rooms are clean and cool. we had a two storey one, with its own courtyard , and lovely outdoor bath. Much nicer than the big hotels! Staff greeted you by name, and went the extra mile to make things nice for you. (the swimming pool was being renovated when we were there, which was the only drawback!) My daughter enjoyed the fitness room! Garden setting is great, and feels very private. Close to central Sanur, with lots of shopping, spas etc. I will go there again, for sure!

Number One in Friendliness

So many visits now we feel part of the family. And really this is the reason we keep returning. As soon as we arrive, to be greeted with 3 beats of the welcoming gong, we feel instantly at home. If you value genuine friendliness above everything else that a holiday destination offers, don't pass up this unique experience. Terima kasih!!!

Pretty much perfect

This is just the most lovely hotel set in a quiet spot along the beach front in peaceful Sanur. It does have a significant history, they have a book you can buy and in every room about it. It is a family run hotel down thru the generations, originally a home, then guest house and finally a hotel. All rooms on ground floor- single story. Very authentically decorated with lush gardens. Along the front there is a 7km walk/ run/ cycle path along the beach. The restaurant serves delicious food, breakfast included is a la carte only. If you like small, authentic, relaxed home feel hotels this is the one for you. It is immaculately kept, clean and Eco friendly. We will definitely be returning to this hotel on our next stay in Bali, a fantastic find.

The hotel felt like an oasis in a busy beach area. The staff was very nice. The breakfasts were delicious.

Beachfront villa was charming

We stayed in room 28, and it was lovely. The upstairs living room provided us with ocean views while the first level contained a cozy bed equipped with a mosquito net. This accessory wasn't needed, but added to the "island" feel. Every night, the staff freshened the room with a turn-down service that included putting pajamas out. These were comfy and a nice unexpected bonus. The hotel location was at the perfect spot on the Sanur strip. Our biggest complaint would be the lack of friendly service at the bar along with a great deal of difficulty getting drinks. Otherwise, the facilities are terrific and the location is awesome.

Charming if a bit outdated. Beach bar was nice in the evening. Value for money was perhaps not ideal.

Beautiful hotel in traditional style, convenient location to seaside walk, supermarket, spa. Excellent meal, big thanks to their chef, always so tasty. Staff are really friendly. Wonderful place. Definitely will stay in this hotel on my next visit.

A wonderful hotel on the beach

We loved our bungalow and outdoor area and the pool/beachside facilities. The service was at all time immaculate and staff so friendly and helpful. We hired bikes and it is pleasant riding along the boardwalk at Sanur. The food was great with individually cooked breakfasts. Other meals were authentically Indonesian. We also liked the whole ambience of the hotel.

Nice hotel

Nice hotel, beach is OK. Sanur is a bit dirty though - consider a different town. If you're going to stay in Sanur, this is a relaxing place to stay.

Arrived with friends, stayed here 28 yrs ago, still beautiful despite the develoipment nearby.Food very euro unfortunately, they stint on spices and chilli. Great hotel for families and children, lovely staff.
