All staff were fabulous
The stuff was very slow with service. No entertainment for guests. No different varieties of breakfast and lunch.
Great beach and snorkeling. Great staff and service. Lots of available water activities. Ok food. The buildings, decks and pools were very tired but they are closing in July for a complete renovation- looking forward to seeing end result
Reset your energy under the sun.
Great friendly service and a nice location. We had a great time under the sun. This is a sister property of four or five resorts, getting the water taxi to explore other all inclusive sister resorts ia amazing. The water toys are also very nice.
Great overall stay
.
Beautiful property and courteous staff! We sorely enjoyed our 1 week vacation! The hotel is well situated, quiet and relaxing place. The ocean is beautiful, nice access to pools. The property is very well managed, great food and water sport options. Do not fall for the bad reviews!
Enjoyed the wide varieties. Staff was excellent. The 2 Christopher's at the bar were great. Kernoll the waitress was always friendly n made us feel so comfortable as well of the rest of the staff. Been in barbados 6 times, first time here n it was a pleasant surprise.
Hotel needs upgrade, no elevator and our suite was on the third floor, noticed some damage floor around the pool area, no ventilation in the bathroom, but the staff were wonderful and food was delicious!
Lovely stay. The staff overall were very friendly. It’s a very relaxed hotel. The inclusive package was very good, easy to eat and drink too much! We had a junior suite overlooking the sea and it was a big room with everything you needed. Overall the hotel is a little tired. We were told it closing for a year in July for total refurbishment and it is needed. The area/road outside of the hotel is very busy and not really ideal for walking along.
I thought this property was very quaint and although some areas have wear and tear, the food and staff and size of rooms was a definitely plus. Loved the size of the property and the location.
Beautiful location
Beautiful location, friendly staff and decent food overall. Our first room was very outdated, AC was making loud whistling sound and toilet was leaking onto bathroom floor. We notified front desk and it was taken care of the next day. Antonia the manager came and found us and said she was aware of the problems and they were going to move us to an upgraded room. The next room was as good as the first room was bad. Much better view, amenities, overall comfort. Very thankful that they took care of us. Free water sports are a definite plus and the beach swimming area is very nice and safe, pools are nice. Overall the food was good but not great. We are vegetarian and our options were completely limited and lacking unless we ate the buffet, which was pretty good. The drinks were good and all included. All the servers were very attentive and sweet. The woman making omelets is a joy! The sister restaurants-Positano and Shiso at the Waves were excellent and I highly recommend eating at the other properties. Water taxi is free during the day but you have to take taxis after 4 pm. Taxis are pretty pricey but if you’re adventurous take the bus it’s only 3.60 Barbados! My only suggestion is that concierges we spoke to were not that knowledgeable and had to look up answers to any questions we had. One last thing the Wifi is pretty bad, but I hate to complain about overall lovely experience!
We checked in yesterday and so far, so good. HOWEVER, Expedia says Tamarind had a hot tub, and it does not. It’s not a huge thing, but it was one of the amenities we considered when booking our hotel in Barbados. I don’t know if this was an honest mistake or not, but either way it’s disappointing
Stayed 7 nights , very limited eating options, limited entertainment and this was Christmas Staff all look as they really don’t want to be there.
This hotel is in a great location for a beach holiday. Unfortunatley the standard of service is simply horrific (even by local standards)- as bad as we have experienced in travelling to Barbados for over 30 years - you are treated more like prisoners than guests! Front desk, pool staff, bar staff, beach sports - almost all very poor with no interest in providing a positive guest experience. I understand the hotel is being upgraded during 2024, however the reality is that if the staff and their attitudes remain the same then it's never going to deliver.
I read a lot of the reviews about this place and have to say I was worried a bit about l the staff. HOWEVER, in the experience I had, I had to say that the staff had to be the best thing about this place. It was an amazing experience, even one of them. I wish I was better with names, but the two who stood out were the young lady working the front desk on Wed 15th November at 645pm, and the young lady working the desk at Friday 17th November 5pm same young lady on Saturday 18th November 1130am . I have to day the two were very pleasant and helpful. The young lady from Fri and Sat went out of her way trying to get a car rental for me at the last min. I want to say a heart felt thanks to the two of them. Rooms: Had room 333, the room was very clean, with a great view of the sea. It was on the other side of the restaurant. However, it was not a problem as the walkover was just about 1 minute. The building that the room is in seems to be a little dated hallways, feel a little small , however, with some additional lighting, it can feel a little more open. On-site, there is water activity. If you are doing the tubing or sailing, you will need to book. Snorkeling, paddle board, and kayaking are first come, first serve but seem to always be available. Food and drinks As much as the food was a constant supply for an all-inclusive and the drinks never stop. I have to say I was a little disappointed in the opinion. Breakfast I was hoping for a lil of the Barbados breakfast experienc
Property is old and very tired. Things like the water to wash off sand and salt at beach exit not working. Food was average at best. The staff was not very friendly in the restaurant. Front reception staff were excellent. I know property is due to close in April 2024 for renovations, so it should get the upgrades needed. However they need to have better trained staff, and the people working there have to have a better understanding of the business their in and need an attude adjustment.
Thoroughly enjoyed our fortnight stay.. Sophia and her staff ( too many staff to name!) couldn’t have been more helpful and attentive.
Great experience!
Staff were good for most part however some staff were extremely unfriendly and almost rude . It’s a shame because some were excellent. One restaurant is a negative and the same foods at breakfast everyday get a little boring.
I am a woman that decided to take this trip solo for one week. Food was great, every night I felt like I was having something different and it was tasty. Rooms are clean and room service shows up on a regular. My only complaint about this hotel is majority of the staff. There was only literally a handful of staff members that were genuinely nice and helpful but the rest of them were rude as ever. A lot of eye rolling and I even experienced 2 people actually raised their voices at me. I had a very difficult time calling room service up to my room because they did not answer the phone and there was quite a few times I had to walk downstairs to get attention just to place the order. I made sure I tipped and even when I did you can tell no one really wanted to do anything still. This place is good for a one time visit, won’t be coming back.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. My room was spacious and very comfortable. I liked the three different pools and there were always enough lounge chairs to relax in. The cocktails were delicious and there were different food options daily which was great. I was only disappointed that I didn’t get to go to the spa during my stay as I couldn’t get through to them on the phone. I would definitely stay again, for longer.
Our room was very nice with a lovely view of the sea and we could enjoy the stunning sunsets every night The dinners and service at the hotel were also excellent and the staff were friendly and welcoming.
This not an all inclusive package. Limited options on meals , boring and repetitive , terrible options for lunch, extermily limiter dinner options. Odor in room washroom when tap is used.No entertainment other things
The reception, bar, dining and beach staff were all naturally friendly and full of Caribbean joy. Special mention must be made of Mikaela and Astrid in reception Well Done !!! The 3 bar girls by the pool for the delicious drinks and tons of laughter. Thanks Ether for the fantastic breakfasts and your bright morning smiles. Our room was heavenly comfortable and clean, food for good...Iralian dinner in Positano's was outstanding. 5 out of 5 rating for our vacation Thanks Tamarind !!
Beautiful hotel and staff are lovely x
Made to feel welcome from the minute I arrived. The property is lovely, the staff excellent and efficient and the food was good. I had a wonderful week and will come back here. My only suggestion - put a USB port in the rooms please!
It was a great experience. We stayed one night but got a free upgrade! The staff was amazing; both friendly and courteous. We couldn't ask for a better experience, I only wish we could have stayed one more night!
The dine around program was the best part.
Extremely pleasant staff and facility. We will go back there WHEN we return to the beautiful country of Barbados. What a lovely people and island
Terrible
Great property
The good things was the food was good and the dining staff were helpfull. The beach has a corral reef that is excellent for snorkeling. And the area was quiet in the evening. The bad is that the rooms were in disrepair (bathroom ceiling leaked, toilet flush was almost falling off) and the King Size bed cannot fit three people because the bed is uncomfortable in the middel. The beach cannot be entered without water shoes because there are too many corral rocks . Lastly, we paid via Expedia in US dollars and the hotel charged in Barbadose resultig in an extra $150 charge!
It was great to be back. Wondeful staff, service, meals, drinks.
My stay was absolutely horrendous and shocking experience as a Travel Agent from the United States. The staff was very rude and unwelcoming. I noticed the staff was very nice to their UK guest visiting for holiday. I was wearing a jogging suit and was stopped by more than one guest who thought I was an employee. The female employees outside of one Food and Beverage manager wouldn’t serve me. They talked amongst themselves and made rude gestures and comments. I was the only guest visiting from the US. I was visiting only for one night in hopes of finding a new property for my clients. What a waste of time and money to fly so far away to be treated as if my business doesn’t matter to their business. This post won’t stop here, people should know outside of the US Marriott properties aren’t friendly at all.
Beautiful scenery.. Some Lovely staff... But as a whole for Barbados.. rudness.. Slovenly attitudes, terrible service really really terrible. Food not great.. But some staff make up for it... Paradise makes you less upset.. However marriot needs to take a look in the mirror for repeat guest l am not going to be. Despite the scenery.. I advise a huge no for the service.. But a huge yes for everything else..
Great stay
Amazing stay! Great staff and relaxing all round! Would recommend!
Great time!!!!
Staff
Underwhelming
I booked based on ratings for a 3-night stay. Rooms were ok, but my bedding was rather musty. Television didn’t work, and I asked for that to be remedied right away. Never did get someone to look at it, even after 3 requests. Plumbing ventilation was poor, so every now and again it would wreak in the bathrooms. Coffee maker did not work. Meals were decent, but overall underwhelming. A portion of the sea wall at the property was damaged, so a good chunk of the property was closed off. All the ‘little’ things sorta added up enough in my head to leave an informative review. Service personnel were great overall, so that was nice to see. Wi-Fi was good. All in all, I feel that this is a property that needs some TLC, and perhaps a slightly better menu.
We were very disappointed. The staff was very unfriendly. Made us feel like everything we asked for was a choir on their part. We chose this location before it was "kid friendly" we were told there was a kid program, there was nothing set up for her to do. We have a 12 year old, and there were no daily activities for her to do, which was okay, but it was false advertisement. They didn't even have the water trampoline which she was looking very forward to. The "sister locations for restaurants, she was only allowed at 1 of them, the other are over 18. There are birds all over the on-site restaurant, flying all over the dishes and food, the staff does nothing to keep them off. The wall at the beach is broken and roped off. They do have the water sports which are advertised and the men that run them are very helpful.
Had a great time!
Great Hotel with brilliant views, spacious rooms, friendly staff. You get access to services (restaurant pool) of a bunch of "sister" hotels along the west coast too. Part of the seafront had collapsed and was awaiting repairs. The staff was very friendly, although reception was a bit messy with the bookings at times. The Restaurant is often magnificent (the a-la-carte menu especially).
The property is okay. The rooms are subpar. I can’t complain too much. I got what I paid for, an $1100 trip including flight for 3 nights; quick cheap trip. Please eat at the Italian restaurant for dinner EVERY NIGHT, outside of that you will be dissatisfied. Breakfast is okay. Flies everywhere. Some food covered and some not. The rooms are a “NO.” Dirty sheets, tiny insects crawling throughout the room. AC linkage. Cosmetically the property is an eye sore. I had an encounter w/ a staff that was beyond obnoxious. However, the property manager handled my complaint with grace. I don’t recommend this resort.
Pictures are very deceiving! There is no beach area really and the pool is very small. Another disappointing fact was the food, it is not all inclusive type - they have a continental breakfast and a la cart options for lunch and dinner. Food was tasty but very limited for an “all inclusive”. I wont return there!
Amazing staff but hotel could do with a refurb
Tamarind Hotel Barbados
The location and hotel building was excellent and the staff very professional and friendly. The reception team at the hotel made the checkin easy and we’re always available for help and advice. Will definitely return to this hotel.
We were all very disappointed about the condition of the rooms. Our first room had 3 leaks and smelt very damp. Also, whenever we had issues, it took a while for the maintenance team to come and have a look. The Property managers and Elegant Hotel group need to get urgent repairs carried out on this property.
Everything was excellent
The spread of the whole area and having 3 very separate pool areas made the hotel feel very spacious. The staff were warm and friendly. I was a little disappointed how difficult it was to get a table outside in the evening and inside was not very inspiring. My "standard" room and particularly the bathroom, were better than standard rooms in other hotels.
Beautiful rooms, staff extremely welcoming. Fresh fruit at 11:00 and ice-cream in the afternoon was a highlight! Watersports team were fantastic.
Holiday
This hotel is in serious need of a makeover. Feeling very tired and a bit tatty. Bed was good and the food mainly OK but for the price it was not good enough. Great position on the beach could be much nicer.
There was nothing too hard or impossible for the hotel and staff to make our stay with two toddlers as accommodating and enjoyable as possible
Wonderful beach and excellent swimming! Good food and a great staff.
The hotel needs to be knocked down. The building is really old with exposed cinderblock walls and poor wiring of electrical boxes, bugs everywhere wall air conditioning which was not adequate
Beach and beach area are very nice although towel system to reserve seats is out of control. Property is tired and needs updating. Room almost right on the beach was a great surprise. Service levels were very mediocre (mostly people just going through the motions).
The beach was very disappointing. Little to no sand. Extremely rocky. Pools outdated. A lot of staff was extremely nice.
Beautiful in every sense, the location is incredible and the staff were extremely helpful.
Great water sports. Some safety issues, especially slippery surfaces around pools.
The property is very well layed out and to us, the perfect size and not too big.
Food excellent, staff very nice, but dinner service slow, 1 1/2-2 hrs for 2 people to eat dinner. Rooms nice, our room was renovated, but they left the old, outdated flooring??? We were beachfront, first floor, great view, however, complementary Wi-fi did not work as we were at the edge of the property. It was also the area that all the employees hung out on their breaks, so it wasn’t private or quiet. Bathroom could have been cleaner, mold on grout (use bleach) and dead bugs on walls/ceiling!!! Ugh.
It’s was a nice fairly clean property. Staff was really pleasant and accommodating. The pool was a little dirty but it was the end of the day, when we went for a swim. Breakfast was great every morning.
Newsletter at breakfast was a good idea. Won't return as hotel now all inclusive. Staff are amazing though and made our stay very enjoyable.
Nice location on the beach. Good that watersports were included as well as access to the other hotels via the water taxi. The food was good but the menus could have had more choices. Surprised that there was no smoking allowed on balconies, but accept this is probably the same policy as all hotels.
This was our 3rd visit to the Tamarind. The location is fantastic and the staff are all very polite and great fun. Unfortunately the hotel is moving to All Inclusive which will probably put us off returning there as we love dining at all the amazing restaurants in the area
Best kept secret
Best kept secret . The property was lovely. Close to everything. A lot of things in walking distance. Bus right out front. Very friendly staff. Very clean. Comfortable. The worst thing was the WiFi, but with the crystal clear beach right there, I put my phone down and just enjoyed my stay.
Gardens were lovely. restaurant area and bar nice. Some rooms and stairwells were shabby and need updating.
Loved the property, it was a lot bigger than I expected. Make sure if you visit you see all 3 pools as they are located in different areas of the hotel. Our room was nice and spacious, my only concern was where the air conditioner was placed in the room as this became bothersome while laying on the bed. The staff was particularly great, Anthony the bellman was personable and brought us complimentary rum punch on arrival. We also had the pleasure of dealing with Ether, who had a great personality as well. The variety of breakfast foods was great it included fresh fruit, omelets made to order and either pancakes or waffles just to mention a few items. Destini who checked us in was great too, she gave us local suggestions on where to eat. In regards to the watersports, I wasn't too clear on what was included with the room rental. We did use the water shuttle that travels in between the properties twice, it was a beautiful boat ride. We did notice the staff giving out complimentary fresh fruit by the poolside. In regards to the beach at the hotel, the water was beautiful however the ocean is rocky we did not see any seaweed while we were there. I did take a morning walk on the beach which was nice, many locals walk the beach in the morning I noticed. There are a convenience store and gas station directly across the street. The bus runs right in front of the hotel. I would return to the Tamarind Hotel in the future.
Love that there are a small number of rooms = not a lot of people. On main bus route. Took bus to Holetown and Bridgetown. Easy and cheap!
Nice hotel, good location in terms of safety and the beach, close to George Town about 15-20 min drive. The beach is beautiful but the entrance to the water is a bit rocky, the property itself is older and it feels like it. The territory is beautiful, very green and clean with three good size pools. The room was a good size too but the bed was strangely short, I’m 5.9 and my husbadn is 6.4 and our feet were hanging off the bed, for tall people it might not be very comfortable option. All employees were helpful and friendly, they made our stay great. Breakfast was ok, I expected more considering it’s 4 star property, I find it weird when you can’t get omelette right at such hotel, they had all the basics that you will normally eat in the morning but no gluten free option or almond milk, so def bad choice for those with dietary restrictions, even the bacon was not good and only once in 3 days they served pancakes and waffles, which is a breakfast must in my opinion. The neighboring hotel Treasure Cove, 1 min walk from tamarind, has very good restaurant, relatively low priced compare to other restaurants in the area, it’s a good option for lunch or casual dinner. Lunch/dinner Restaurant at Tamarind was also good, better than breakfast for sure but nothing amazing. Overall we had great experience at The hotel.
Beautiful beach, great property but most important great super friendly staff
The employees were professional, experienced, very congenial and polite. All services were provided with concern for our comfort and safety. Ether taught us how to make a great omelette. Mark made perfect cocktails. Natasha informed our plans. All were delightful!
Barbados 2019
Excellent and friendly service. Great amenities. Love the water sports, snorkeling, & water taxi to the other Elegant Hotels!
Good location. Nice staff. Good pools. Nice hotel.
Hotel is right on beach and they provided lots of nice touches like cooling towels, ice-creams during the day and a cocktail for Father’s Day. Was the best value hotel on this stretch od beach at this time of year although it is a little old but everything is well maintained.
property was great ,I found no noticeable problem. food was good service was great.
2nd Honeymoon
Tamarind is amazing. Our room was steps to the beach and pool! Everyone was friendly, attentive and courteous. Breakfast every morning was fabulous. I will recommend travelling to Barbados to all my friends and to stay at The Tamarind.
The staff were all amazing. They made our stay special from start to finish.
Excellent
Excellent all round.
Beautiful and clean hotel. Nice room and good service. Dion provided great customer service. She was awesome! Would have liked background music all day and more fish on the menu.
Private pool near spa nice no kids relaxing xxxxxxxx
Loved the hotel but internet was no good I travel for business so this is a must this was my only issue .. staff and rooms are great
The views of the sea and sunsets were spectacular. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The hotel is at a great location to access sightseeing destinations like St Nicholas Abbey and Animal Flower Cave.
the staff were apparently there for themselves, no concierge ever, and the longest wait for coffee at morning breakfast. No towels were exchanged for our last 3 days and no turndown service, Pool had algae on the walls 2 out of 5 days, was cleaned at night. Pool did shut down literally at 6 pm while sun was still up. Great water stuff for the beach. Place feels old and tired, staff easily the worst at any semi expensive resort that I have been. WE are not ugly Americans and even the Brits (dominant) were unhappy with rooms, food and especially just normal service. Isolated on west coast and taxis are expensive daily to get to action sites. Water taxi service will only make you feel bad because you realize you are at the bottom of the barrel of the Elegant hotel chain and their 4 hotels. Very close to excellent restaurants and Limegrove shopping. I'm not sure who hires the help but they should be subjected to their disdain.
Bathroom needs update and add open window Matress needs changing
Great location with easy access to nice beaches, shopping and restaurants. Courteous staff. Very basic breakfast buffet. Property needs a facelift - old pipes were loud during the night; furniture is aged; small TV with poor reception; thin doors. Sea view room was on second floor, but views partially blocked by rental boats with tall sails.
Beautiful beachfront location. Friendly staff. Hotel is a little tired, but still good. Dirty rug in the room (replaced on request). There were quite often noisy kites flying overhead, not pleasant if you're reading & relaxing & would like a bit of peace.
Wifi service was not as good as expected . Service in restaurant pleasant , but slower than expected
Friendly hotel with helpful staff. Breakfast buffet was chaotic and poorly managed. Family friendly.
The location is excellent and the swimming pools, bars and restaurants and the beach facilities are all good. We were not allocated the correct room on arrival and had to make a "fuss"to get moved the next morning and one day I found a love cockroach in our bathroom but the management dignity appear unduly concerned!
The Tamarind hotel is in a beautiful location on the West coast. A very well run hotel with a stylish yet relaxed and friendly ambiance, with excellent food at breakfast and dinner. The staff are very kind and helpful. A wonderful 12 days stay.
Wonderful hotel. Best location and great views. Definitely going back one day.
Fabulous location and staff
Amazing- excellent and plentiful staff in fabulous location
Very mediocre for the price. The Hilton was cleaner & friendlier for much less.
All went well. Not much of a beach to swim or lay out.
Very nice rooms with clean, updated European bathrooms. You are offered a free rum punch as you check-in and a bottle of chilled wine awaits you in your room. Lots of water activities are included as well as free breakfast. Staff is very friendly, helpful and very accommodating.
The staff was amazing, friendly and very warm. The hotel is definitely one I would recommend, the grounds were spectacular
Lovely hotel with great beach
Staff were brilliant! Friendly and helpful. Nice and peaceful. Will definitely be returning
old run down facilities, food terrible, there are much better beaches on the west coast
The location is great. The property could use some upgrades but overall it is nice. I wish there were more options for eating. There is a bar and a restaurant but they are good. There are a few people on the beach trying to give you foot massages or sell stuff. The staff and the people of Barbados are some of the nicest people I have ever met. I found out it is rude there to not say “good morning”, which I like.
