The beach at Stevensons is so beautiful but unfortunately, the accommodation was dated and overpriced. It needs some renovations to restore it to what it once was. The bedding had bleach stains, and the fridge rusted. It felt unclean. The pool had rubbish in it and hazardous broken tiles. Breakfast was included but we had to ask for coffee and butter. There were so many stray cats on the breakfast table and our beds, they also fought at night. It was an unpleasant stay and we ended up leaving early.
The villa itself was not prepared up to standards compared to what I paid for each night. Thinking it was a villa it would have provided some dental cleaning supplies, soap for the shower or body wash (we only had about 2 tiny bottles of shampoo and conditioner. Kitchen and food, was not much and breakfast was at average. I do recommend that if they have only 2 units/rooms booked a night, might be a good idea to set up a breakfast platter to deliver to each room rather thank a buffet that sits out too long and to also give something for server to do. Villa and appearance would have been okay if inside had a bit of light colour decor, ceiling or walls.
Clean. Staff so nice and friendly. Will definitely be back.
I will recommend this resort to anyone want to visit Samoa especially Savaii, staff and customer service is absolutely spot on,excellent customer service, location is safe and quiet,I will stay at this resort again and the near future..
Nice and clean hotel, but on very large area. The staff was so friendly, Lisa from reception is such nice person, she looks after guest a lot. Help to us so much too. Because of Lisa I will highly recommend this hotel to everyone! Thank you Lisa for everything you did for us!❤️ Lisa from restoran is very nice person as well.
Pros - Heaps of beds in the suites - Strong aircon Cons - Two staff catering to all guests the whole weekend. - Limited menu & food was not fresh. They charged an extra $5 for fish meals however, fish was definitely old and chewy - Ran out of Niu/Coconuts. Only had 2 our whole stay - No daily service unless you go to reception to ask - Pool looks like it hasn’t been cleaned for months!! Not ONE person swam in it our whole stay - Toilet was very dirty - Bed linen had pee stains!!! & pillows looked like they’re about to grow mould on them. - Overpriced for the facilities & services (lack of) provided. Overall, not a great experience! We will not be staying there again & do not recommend.
Oceanfront beautiful scenery
I like the location which closed to the beach. The food, dining area, pool and around the resort will need a massive upgrades.
We had the most amazing time! Our beach villa was so beautiful with views
More dinning options
Staff was very nice , beautiful location, very private, good food, and drinks
Was too hot air-conditioned not working well
I expected more than I got since price was high for accommodation and meals.
Expedia picture was deceiving. Not realizing what Euro Fale was. Not a room. No door, no privacy. We did get upgraded to villa we had to pay more. This is not a 5 star but 5 star prices. They working on one end beach. privacy. We did get
complimentry breakfast was great
A very old and run down premises, but saved by a beautiful location absolutely stunning beachfront. Reception staff had poor knowledge of the facilities, but the bar and restaurant staff were friendly and welcoming.
Although we thoroughly enjoyed our stay you have to go in with an open mind and not be expecting a 5 star stay. Staff were lovely. It was fun staying in the fales but they do need maintenance work done, particularly in the bathrooms - we had 3 fales and two had no hot water, one didnt lock, one toilet didn't flush properly and none of the safes worked. Also extensive retaining being done right out front so just dirt and rocks to look at, not a beach and trucks and diggers going back and forth during our stay which we were not warned about prior. Didn't bother us much but might for some people.
Accommodation run down, should not be charging top dollar, online pictures are about 5 years old also bar food is terrible had to eat out most nights - pool is a murky green, sit by pool looking at bulldozer
Staff were excellent and friendly. A little run down for the price.
Like everything.
Older style resort on the beach
We stayed two nights and enjoyed the location and the friendly staff (especially the manager). Right on the beach for swimming and snorkeling. Bar and restaurant excellent. WiFi only works in the that area. The Euro Fales are an interesting combination of outdoor sleeping with a mosquito net and enclosed bathroom and toilet. We enjoyed it but might not be ideal for a romantic getaway. More conventional units are available but expensive. Parts of the resort have suffered considerable damage but it is being repaired.
I found this hotel very disappointing, despite it being extremely expensive. It is so tired and dated, in serious need of updating and maintenance. My room was not cleaned, the wifi did not work and I woke to rat droppings in my bathroom on the last morning!! I left early so there was no one to speak to about this, I therefore emailed my concerns to which I have not received a response. I would never stay again or recommend to anyone.
We were meet with the most unfriendliness service i have ever encountered. Emma needs more training, moved from customer service or firing. Her service and demeaner was truely appalling. The place is extremely run down, only 2 of approx 8 powerpoints worked, no tv in room, bed so uncomfortable felt like were broken. Room was not serviced for the 4 days we stayed. Resort prices for subpar food & accommodation. On on checkout was deliberately attempted to overcharge. When questioned Emma huffed & provided reciepts in seconds which showed the deliberate act. Manager of food & beverage French man & young Samoan boy were both very good. I would never stay here again.
I had booked a last minute booking for our first night, it was absolutely appalling. No words however for the next 2 nights it was exceptional. We were upgraded to jasmine suite from Joshua. Stunning bathroom, air con fantastic and the views from our room was amazing. Staff at the bar and restaurant were absolutely lovely and took considerable care to cater for our needs. Unfortunately we were in savaii during rain and the water was no good at all but we managed, great value for money for the suites, the room we were in prior was at the back with reception and I wouldn’t recommend it at all.
Euro fale is not recommended for a single person trip. Car park is too far from my rented fale which is on the opposite side of the road Went to visit my family and got back very late. Found car park pitch black with no lights and no sign of any securities after being told the place has securities all day and night
Would happily go back for a night or two
This place is lovely. It's still finding it's feet after covid closures and lockdowns. It's not perfect, a little rough around the edges, and is need of a little love. But it''s most definitely worth a stay.
Turtles swimming in the sea just beyond our villa. Small resort so guests and staff where very friendly. Special thanks to Silia, who kept our villa nice and clean, and Rosalina for the Samoan lessons
Lovely resort , awesome view and proximty to the beach. The staff here are all very welcoming and happy only thing i would recommend if you need internet, is to buy a sim card with data as it would be more cost effective and that way you also have mobile data for getting around
Liked the relaxed feeling of the place. Staff very pleasant. Clean and tidy.would consider agsin.
This review is in context of Samoa in that it hasn’t been tourist-ified so things are pretty basic, and compared to that, we (2 adults and an 11 year old) found Stevensons to be excellent. We stayed in a Euro fale which is a big step up from most of the beach fales on Savai’i. It had its own bathroom, complete with a great rock shower and a small fridge. Looking out to the water and waking up to the sounds of waves gently lapping on the shore was wonderful. The pool is excellent and there is a very good menu in the restaurant with lots of options. Plenty of places to go snorkeling and the water was so warm. The staff are unobtrusive and friendly yet so willing to help in whatever way they can. They put on a great fiafia night (Saturday nights) with traditional food - totally yummy with wonderful performances by the very talented staff! If you are looking for a place to really relax off the beaten track where you can enjoy good food, plenty of beverage options and great swimming, then you cannot go wrong with Stevensons. We will be back!
a
Amazing beach. Pool was really good too. Although the pool chairs need an upgrade as they were broken and very hard as no cushions. Food was excellent, cocktails below average. Rooms were good. Shower in Jasmine room unusual and needs to go. Otherwise loved our stay. Rooms advertised as having wifi, but wifi only available intermittently at the pool or reception and is sold in little bits. Went with teenagers, they werent impressed, but did get over it
Lovely property and very friendly staff. The food and drink on site was too expensive for my liking but some people might not find it to be the case. We stayed in the last fale, number six, which had a fantastic view out the front over the sea. However to the right the view was of an abandoned construction site. Great pool and swimming in the sea. The free breakfast a was tasty.
The infinity pool is really great open 24/7 too. Quiet while we were there with only two children who were well behaved. Staff were very attentive and always ready to help. Would have liked a hand rail to get down to the beach but staff assisted. Would definitely return. Rooms were well appointed and loved the outdoor shower which connected to indoor bathroom.
Staff always so friendly and helpful. Rooms beautiful and right on the beach, with a resident turtle regularly visiting
the grounds were beautiful but the complex disjointed with one area of dining across the road. there were a few moments where drinks or food a let down especially when it came down to ingredients for cocktails or local fish. management issues i suspect
Beautifully set out. Nice and comfortable. Staff were lovely and helpful! Womderful views of the beach and great for a swim! Definitely recommend coming here to experience it yourself! 😁
Good price, free use of kayaks and paddle boards
We had a wonderful stay at one of the fales at Stevenson's. The bed was super comfortable, and we loved hearing the ocean as we drifted off to sleep. The resort lets you use kayaks and paddle boards for free. The restaurant had a great menu and the food was excellent. Breakfast was good and if you're there on a day they serve cinnamon rolls, try them--the best we've ever eaten! The staff were great-everyone smiled and asked how we were enjoying our stay. In particular, Lonnie, Vai, Bella, Aulolo and Wendy were excellent -- very professional, warm, and helpful. Such fantastic ambassadors for the resort! We extended our stay, we were having such a good time. Two things--on 1 of the 6 days we stayed there, the current was very strong so do watch out for that. And if quiet is important, we suggest booking one of the villas as the open air fales don't provide any noise protection if you get noisy neighbors.
We booked the Joshua Suite and the blood stain on one of the pillows, the unswept floors and the dusty sofa made us wish we had stayed longer at the Le Lagoto Resort. Luckily ours was only an overnight stay, so we left first thing in the morning as we had no desire to sample their breakfast. Pity because this resort could be first class if not for the poor room maintenance.
Best accommodation of our whole trip in Samoa! Yummy breakfast. Walk outside of our fale to the beach an amazing pool looking out to the ocean loved our stay here will definitely be back on our next visit but stay longer then 1 night :) thank you so much! Definitely recommend this place to anyone staying in savaii
Very relaxing
This hotel had everything we wanted. .beautiful beach and pool with top restaurant. .at reasonable prices. From our European fale we could snorkel with tropical fish kayak or paddle board. We enjoyed having our own ensuite! Local musicians often entertained in the evenings. I would really recommend.
View from bed!
Beautiful location and pool. We stayed in a Euro Fale which is basic and the queen bed was very uncomfortable. For a fale this was lovely. We had a gorgeous view of the ocean from the bed.
Lovely location however Villas could do with a freshen up.
Nice Hotel close to the beach. Good Swimming Pool near bar. Good snorkeling on the beach at any time. Good Quality and selection food.
We had the Amelia & Joshua room, Amelia room was fine but the Boys had issues with Joshua toilet which was in the bedroom area which we thought was a cupboard but it was the toilet. One of the occupants couldn’t close the door when they were in the toilet. The water pressure of the shower in the Joshua room wasn’t good at all. Luckily we were out and about a lot. The staff were amazing, thank you for your hospitality.
Thee place to stay
Friendly staff, good lunch and dinner. Villa room was nice and comfy. Beach was steps away. Slept to the sounds of waves crashing. Just learned how to snorkel and it was amazing. Would recommend to all and will be my choice when staying in Savai’i
Great choice for staying in Savaii
This was our third time coming to Stevensons, and it was the best! They have really made upgrades since last year, and improvements are ongoing--it will keep getting better. Rooms are great, hospitality even better. Breakfast is wonderful, and food and drink for dinner are also great. The friendliness of the family running the place is lovely. The highlight for our team was snorkeling with turtles just in the shallow water in front of the property.
Flooring in shower place has some loose sharp stones. Both vanities in bathroom were blocked didn't get to use it as water didn't go down. Breakfast ok only compare to Le Lagoto, Taumeasina and Sheraton.
Why would you?
The hotel has such potential, and is being renovated, but why would you have the entryway through the bathroom? I had to lift my case over the toilet to get in... And almost slipped on the wet floor tiles, obviously just been washed. And this was after I found that the room I had previously booked was occupied - I assume it had the same entry arrangement? And where some of the renovations are being done, bugs get in.
Amazing Beach Fale
The fale was amazing with beach at our door step. Staff were friendly and always helpful.
Third time staying at Stevenson's and again another relaxing time in the Eurofales. Great to see the pool completed although the sea was warmer! A neat place for a break.
Fantastic location
very quiet location, beautiful swimming in the sea and gorgeous new pool Very helpful friendly staff, good food and easy drive from the ferry and port overall great experience would go back one day but would certainly recommend it to future travellers
Most relaxing holiday ever...
This was our second stay at Stevenson's. The pool, bar, and dining complex recently opened is a great addition. The real attraction though for us is the beach - right at our doorstep, clear blue, and we can swim high and low tide. From our experience, Manase seems to be more protected from prevailing winds than other parts of Samoa. Stevenson's have kayaks, paddle boards, and snorkelling gear (although we had taken our own snorkel gear) available for guests. The snorkelling is beautiful - and we swam with turtles feeding on the sea floor just outside the villa's. Staff are friendly and helpful, and went out of their way to make us comfortable. Stevenson's accomodation isn't perfect - the infrastructure needs some investment - accept that you are in a remote location, where not all things are easily fixable. It isn't the Hilton - but it is super relaxing, affordable, and the staff will do everything in their power to help. The breakfasts were served in the beautiful open-aired dining room, and were delicious. Plenty of fruit, fresh pancakes, pastries etc. And they make the plunger coffee nice and strong!
Everything you want in a tropical resort
The staff were amazing and went out of their way to help. The open fales were lovely and the lockable ensuites were great. Brand new infinity pool was very large and magnificent after snorkelling the reef that was right on our doorstep. Renovations are coming along well and we can't wait to return.
Good experience
Will be a really nice place when it's finished. Still under construction which was a little limiting. Scenery was beautiful. Good pool and beach area. Complementary use of paddle boards and kayaks was good. The mosquito nets were a little old and had holes in them so bring lots of repellent.
Gorgeous Savai'i
The beaches were like a picture post card. Gorgeous. The sunset is like a fairly tale.
Overpriced and in poor condition
This place was poorly built and maintenance is lacking. During our whole stay there was banging and sawing - yes we were warned of this on the website but why continue works right through the peak season? Our room had a musty smell which we couldn't air out. Air conditioner basically ineffective. Beds uncomfortable. Staff lack motivation - I don't think management clearly set an example of how they should relate to customers. For the same price (or less in fact) you can stay at one of the Sheraton hotels or any other place in Savai'i - go somewhere else.
Nice fales on the beach with facilities
Great place to relax new management has made a great change especially the food.has great potential. Pool and decking alongside beach will be make a great difference when completed. Will come back again
Beach front
Very relaxed atomsphere. Nice staff, the breakfast was very nice.
paradise in Savaii
It was a great stay, staff were friendly and helpful and when there was an issue with our toilet, staff dealt with it promptly and allowed us to have access to a neighboring empty room. It was absolutely beach front and we loved the view and access to the water. It was a very quiet and relaxing place to stay. Despite there being renovations going on. We loved our stay in Nikolai room :)
Accessible and clean
Stevensons is underated. It is actually very beautiful still the new suites do make the room situation a lot better. I only don't like the side the tusitala restaurant decor we didn't eat there but it does need an upgrade to something a little more modern and less dark maybe. I think it's the setting. The beach bar is ok as well. It is set on the oceanfront makes for a nice afternoon beer spot. The pool was being built so will be a nice addition to the place once completed. The suites do need upkeep, just to keep them in great condition. Minor things.
Fantastic spot, really relaxing.
We had a seriously relaxing time, the occupancy rate was very low at the time which further suited us. They are doing some big renovations which look really good. I would highly recommend this place. .
Euro Fales
Although the overall resort facilities were fine, the actual Euro Fales where we stayed were fairly 'run down' There was no hot water, the bathroom was dark and stingy. The shower curtain was dirty. There was a tatty mat on the floor. The fridge door was very rusty. The safe didn't work. The lighting was so dim at night time that we had to use our cellphone lights to read. We did raise these concerns with the management but nothing was done. We felt that we didn't get good value for money. There are improvements being made around the resort, so hopefully they will address the issues with the Euro Fales, which actually have a fantastic beach front location. A little TLC would make a big difference.
Manase White sand and clear beaches.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Manase and hope to return. Tony the receptionist and host for the fiafia night was tremendously hospitable.
Not a holiday resort
We booked over six months ago and were never told about renovations and construction that was happening during our stay and 1/2 the facilities were not available ( we would not have booked if this was the case ) This turned out was the least of our worries and the whole place is in need of TLC. # Rooms are falling to bits, very basic, some things not working. # No hot water ( this was as simple as a staff member changing a gas bottle for the whole block but this seemed to hard for them and we repeatedly reminded them of the issue ) # Rat in the bathroom eating make up etc - it took them 2 days to come have a look and then did nothing of any consequence. The place had the feel that nobody cared , it was empty and had no soul - just felt like a low budget back packers not a resort. Staff were nice and I feel for the new managers as there is a lot to fix and I feel they will bare the brunt of many a compliant at the prices they charge for the services available. We were given a small discount as compensation but really damage was already done, we would have much rather had the rooms we booked and services expected of a resort.
Paradise
We were near the end of our Holiday and the Hotel we stayed at prior to checking into Stevenson's wasn't a nice experience (to say the least). The room was amazing, the staff were so helpful and accommodating. It was the best way to end our holiday. Will definitely be raving about it to family and friends! Thank you to the staff for making our stay a memorable one!
Nice location, but overpriced
I stayed in a euro fale for 5 days at the start of November 2015. On arrival at the wharf, they had said they would have a taxi waiting for me, but no such luck. After finding a taxi and an hour ride, I arrive at the hotel to find my bookings had been messed up and only partially booked - creating a fair amount of stress. The euro fale is a great setup, with a large comfortable space with fold down blinds, and a nice deck area with chairs and a table overlooking the reef. The connecting bathroom is an awesome space, with a feature rock shower, which water comes out like a waterfall. I was lucky enough to have hot water during my stay. The only unpleasant thing in the room was the cleanliness of the little things, like the sinks, light switches etc. The majority of the staff were wonderful and helpful, a special thanks to Opa for keeping me full of cocktails. The breakfast was wonderful, with a plate of fruit, pancakes, toast and delicious pastries. Lunches and dinners can be purchased at the restaurant, which were delicious, but disappointing there was less "local" options on the menu. Kayaking and snorkeling gear is included, which were great for exploring the reef. Internet out here is a bit patchy at times, but who needs internet in paradise right. Both power and water went out for a day during my stay, mostly affecting the more expensive rooms. It was a good stay, but overpriced for the hospitality and services provided.
right on the beach
Went to sleep and woke up with the sound of the sea. Lovely beach. Saturday night was wonderful as the hotel staff danced and gave the guests a great show.
Beautiful water views, snorkling and staff
My wife and I stayed in a Euro-fale at the water. We found it wonderful to be right at the waters edge. The accommodation had one 'living space' which was split into 2 areas and a bathroom. a front balcony with table and 2 chairs from which you can watch fish play in the water. The rear area had a queen bed accessible from one side only with a mosquito net. The bathroom was a lockable area with toilet, sink and shower. The Euro-fale living area doesn't lock or have a door, but shades made from woven leaves give adequate privacy. We left our water-facing shades open so we could see the water as we went to sleep. Snorkeling was excellent on the beach the fale faced, and food selection for lunch and dinner was pleasing. Supplied breakfast was pancakes, pastries and toast with little else. A detractor was the state of maintenance of the fale. Nothing big, but a electrical 240V face-plate was loose, the light above us had a slight flicker when turned off (not enough to keep us awake, but evidence of a short somewhere) and the water in the shower rarely had hot water (note: due to the heat day and night this doesn't pose a problem in Samoa and most other places we stayed only had cold showers). Great condition for a fale. All in all a very enjoyable few days - would go back in an instant.
Unwelcome
This hotel was the most disappointing of our 3 accomodations in Samoa. We arrived around 6.30pm after a full on day to find the suite we had booked and paid for well in advance was occupied by someone else. The staff weren't overly phased by it and offered us a villa instead which was quite a significant downgrade from the suite. We were then offered another suite with a double bed and I slept on two swabs on the floor. (The room we booked was for two queen beds). The manager offered us some cocktails at the bar but after a snide comment about how we were tired and being unreasonable we decided to stay in our room instead. The room itself was nice enough. It had an air conditioner and a great view but all in all it was a little dated. The food for breakfast was limited and a mostly baked goods with a little fruit on offer. The beach itself at Manase was however quite beautiful. Thank goodness. The swimming was good and the beach was just a few steps from our door front which was the saviour in this rather disappointing experience. On our second night we were upgraded to the premium suite for our troubles which was a nice gesture by the manager and the room and bathroom was another step up from our previous suite but still felt dated. For the money we paid ($560 NZD for 2 nights) it was a big let down over all. And it's a shame because the spot is so beautiful.
Beautiful Beach stops mediocrity
Greeted well Ate alone in dining room while rest people were in beach bar! A real pain. Not only not told about this receptionist said all evening meals in restaurant to us only 3 hours before. Staff friendly Loved outside shower Time here was s success mainly because of access to beautiful beach swim and stunning view.
Awesome Beach Fale. Great Staff. Relaxing & Fun!
I loved this place. Management went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and very easy to approach and get along with. The local staff were super friendly and always had a smile. The accommodation was exactly what I was hoping for. Fale style, open and breezy with a great balcony to read and chill out on with a great view. Loved waking up to view the warm clear water 10 meters in front of you. It was also nice to have my own bathroom unlike the majority of fale style accommodation in Samoa. The water here provided great snorkeling and very clear water. The beaches are great to walk around and see some scenic views of the island at sunset or some locals going about their daily business with a laugh. The kids are the funniest and always wondering what us Palangi (white people) are up to. Also took out one of the kayaks almost every day to have a paddle up and down the coast line with for a great view back at the beach with jungle backdrop. The Beach bar had to be one of my favorite things about the place. Great to watch the sunset with a beer or take a chair down to the waters edge there. Jay (the assistant manager) is a legend and meant there was always someone to have a chat with. She also organised absolutely everything I needed day tripping around the island. Fia Fia night was fun, as all the provided entertainment was. Of course, like anywhere, there a couple of things that could be done differently, but as far as Samoa goes, this is as good as it gets!
If you like to stay near the nice beach and a great snorkeling spot come here! We spent about 5-6 hours in ocean water every day. Want to come back next year. Nice facilities, friendly staff, good food. really enjoyable experience.
3 night stay at a beachside fale with a bathroom
When we booked we didn't realise that a fale is basically open air so be careful as anything that is a fale (even one with a bathroom is like this). We would go back in the future but would stay in a unit with windows and doors. It was a bit of an adventure for us and our kids but you do have to spend time spraying yourself to avoid being eaten by mozzies. The setting and beach are beautiful with safe and clear water perfect for swimming and snorkelling. The beachside bar is a beautiful place to sit and have a cocktail as the sun goes down. The food and drink prices are very reasonable and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a great time there and would go back.
Beautiful hotel with access to a great beach and m
We stayed in a euro fale near the beach and it was perfect, a real samoa experience. A bonus was that we had access to a traditional canoe, snorkelling gears and also kayak which kept me and my kids entertained all day long. The complimentary breakfast was beautiful and the grounds were kept clean.

Loved it here great staff would stay here again Joe.,. visited from the states via Pago and Apia…
